World AIDS Day

Hello Friends,

I just wanted to take a moment to remember and honor my friends and love ones who lost their lives to AIDS. December 1st is known all over the world as World AIDS Day. A day of awareness…..the one day that most people talk about the disease. It is also a day when many health agencies and organizations will be offering free testing and counseling. It is important for everyone to know their status, so if you’ve never been tested this is your opportunity. People this is serious. We are experiencing an epidemic but if we work together we can change things.

Today more than 33 million people have been diagnosed with the disease and the numbers are increasing everyday. Although the majority of those infected live in developing countries, Americans are not immune. HIV/AIDS doesn’t discriminate.

Talk to your friends, family members…especially your children about how HIV/AIDS are contracted. I have lost five friends to this disease, therefore I feel compelled to speak up….to give my friends a voice. Remember having HIV/AIDS doesn’t mean you have to stop living. You just have to do some things differently but you can still live a full life. Unfortunately, my friends found out a little too late. They were never tested.

I know my status. Do you know yours?
