DC Youth Needs Funds to Study in France

(Washington, D.C.) Born to a teenage mother and growing up in one of the poorest neighborhoods of Washington, D.C., Kenice Griffin was not allowed to use her disadvantages as an excuse.  She lived by the quote, “Excuses are the tools of the incompetent and those who specialize in them will not succeed.”

With love and support from her family and community, she recently graduated from St. Augustine's College in Raleigh, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.  She also has studied in China and Costa Rica as an undergraduate.

These experiences have led her to the next step in her journey.  Kenice has been accepted to Grenoble Graduate School of Business in France to earn her master’s degree in International Business.

“I am very grateful to have an opportunity to study aboard” said Kenice. “Grenoble’s curriculum is a little challenging, but I am willing to work hard to get to where I want to be.  I also want to be an example to other youth that with the right attitude and determination, you can determine your future.”

Kenice begins classes in January next year in France.  However, she still needs to cover the expenses of classes, books and housing.  Kenice’s family has been requesting donations from relatives and friends, but need more help.

“Our family needs your help,” states Kenice’s mother.  “We have exhausted all of funds to prepare for her departure and we are seeking help because we don’t want to deny her this great opportunity. We want to plant a seed into Kenice’s future.”

In honor of her accomplishment, Kenice’s family will be hosting a reception in mid December.  It will also be an opportunity for the community to make donations towards her college expenses.  Donations can also be made at the WrightVision Foundation website on a donation page for Kenice at http://www.wrightvisionfoundation.org.  For more information, contact the WrightVision Foundation at 202-651-0038.
