Summer Scholarships for Internships

Salaams Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Please, please, please share the following announcement from the Center for Global Understanding (CFGU) concerning its 25 scholarships for 2012 DC summer internships. CFGU focuses on increasing the number of Muslim American students interning in DC-based advocacy, media, research, government, and non-profit internships. I have worked with CFGU and mentored its summer Fellows since its establishment several years back, during my time as the Coordinator for the Congressional Muslim Staffers Association and now as the Government Affairs Representative for Islamic Relief USA. I highly recommend the program for proactive, community grounded Muslim American students looking to increase their knowledge of public affairs and policy, expand their professional networks, develop their leadership skills and expand the reach and influence of the Muslim American community.
In particular, we need to promote the presence of African American Muslims in such Fellowship programs as CFGU and MPSN, that are fostering the next generation of American leaders. African American Muslims students are nearly non-existent in such opportunities! Our African American youth/college students need to claim their place along side their Arab, South Asian, Persian, Turkish Muslims sisters and brothers who have dramatically increased their presence in various DC-based summer internships over the past 5-10 years. So please share this important opportunity with the student leaders in you networks, Islamic Center youth groups, college Muslim Student Associations, etc. Organizations in our Muslim community, such as CFGU and MPSN, are making it possible for high potential students to access internships in great organizations.
If anyone (i.e. students, Imams, community leaders, teachers, parents) has questions about the above orgs, please do not hesitate to contact me (and the folks at CFGU and MPSN, they are both wonderful people). My contact info is below.  Please let me know if you and your community will be visiting the nations Capitol in the near future. I would love to greet you. Thank you for your continued support.
All the Best,
