It's your friendly neighborhood "Digital Drummer" again (smile)
Here in my online journal, I write about multicultural websites, people and technology. I call myself a Digital Drummer because a lot of what you see here in The City Lights Reporter is simply cut and pasted from other sources and online drummers. Like the drummers of old Africa, we pass messages of interest and concern from one website to another.
One of my best sources for timely and relevant news and information about the Black online Diaspora is Hussein Hill, founder and proprietor of The Oral Buffet (see http://www.nbbta.org/channel2.htm). Brother Hill, is celebrating his two year anniversary this month. Here in the cyber-world, each year is likened to dog years, where every year you survive, is equal to six years in the brick and mortar world. The Oral Buffet has made the Big 2...smile

IT listeners world-wide have been enjoying an insightful range of depth of today's and yesterday's hottest topics and guests (including Bobby Caldwell, Angie Stone, Yolanda Adams, Hill Harper and Sommore). "African Americans, all over the world can now hear shows that cover issues and topics which concern us all," says Hill. "The majority of the shows on the network are hosted by Black small business professionals. Hussein Hill is one of the most listened to radio talk show hosts on the NBBTA network. The show educates, entertains, informs and challenges its listeners. It includes weekly programs such as, "Promo Monday" where entrepreneurs, authors, performers and other experts in their fields share and promote their product or services. And, "Tell It Like It Is Tuesdays," when Hill and his guests delve into some of Black America's hottest and least talked about topics.
Hussein Hill is a recognized Digital Drummer and an active member/promoter of many Black social networking sites such as BlackBusinessSpace.com, ConnectingBlack.com and iZania.com (as well as MySpace, Linkedin and others). A quick Google search on his name returns almost a thousand hits. He has quickly emerged as one of the most prominent radio hosts on the National Black Business Trade Association Radio Network (http://nbbta.org/). The commentator's show is aired as "The Oral Buffet" and broadcasts weekly from Chicago. Hill, a former actor and real estate agent, uses his skills to enlighten and inform a predominantly Black audience.

The Key To Networking
I’ll admit it, I’m kind of immune to sales pitches. I’ve heard so many of them throughout my time in business that I immediately clam up as soon as I hear one coming.
Thanks but no thanks.
Networking on the other hand is something completely different.
I think a lot of people fail to realize that the key to successful networking is building relationships. No- wam, bam, lets do business, thank you ma’am. Instead you have to take time to build mutually beneficialrelationships.
It always makes me sad when I encounter entrepreneurs who immediately focus in on the me, me, me instead of taking time to get to know the person they are talking to.
Most of the time, the wise thing to do is to think about the bigger picture. Instead of thinking “how can I get a quick sale from this stranger”, entrepreneurs should be thinking “how can I build a relationship so that thisperson will become a great referral partner for my business.”
Referrals come from building loyalty and trust. It’s not easy, it takes time, but in the end it’s worth it.
But that’s just how I do business.
Proceed as you see fit, but always keep the bigger picture in mind.

Well it seems like it anyways.I didnt feel Like cooking today so my 2 boy my sister and her son Camron Decided to visit my Parents house all day so that we could get 3 free meals. Times are getting hard. lol
Well it started off as just breakfast. But i just got home. It's Saturday why not spend it with the folks? Now time for the bad news My damn computer charger for my laptop broke. This is horrible.
I dont know what im going to do! I hope that my man will be able to fix it again. He said that it took him forever to rewire the wires or what ever it was that he did to fix it. All i know is that it worked for about 6months. Why not just buy a new one? I'm cheap!
So i have to break the bad news to my man about the cord maybe tomorrow. I just figure all i have to do is give him some of these good!!!! If you know what i mean, then it should be up and running by tomorrow. lol
Right now im on his laptop. but it just doesnt feel the same. I need my own back.

About a month ago I found myself unhappy and unstable with my job and I spoke to a church friend that was going through a similar situation. She told me about GWN (Girls Who Network). It is a networking group for women that allow you to find your dreams by starting a business in a field your passionate about. It also allow you to develop successful business skills, build inner confidence to create the life you desire, and assist you with building your wealth by learning specific skills that will help you achieve a six figure income. The founder of GWN believes that all women should make at least 100k b/c that’s the median income level for people in the U.S. Yes, earning $100,000 is very good but finding your passion and living a blissful life is key.
I started to do research on myself….to find my purpose and what God’s intent is for me. I’m embarrassed to say that I had no idea of knowing what I loved doing until I took the time out to do sole searching. Now I know what I want. I know why I’m here and knowing that brings so much peace to me. I wake up happy because I know that where I am now (in my current position) does not determine my future. I’m currently a proud member of GWN; I’m a seminar leader for Delaware. My goal is to make sure that all eager women have the opportunity to get the tools they need to live out their dreams and start a business on something their passionate about.
