My Father's Business

A close friend of mine and I were discussing an incident that transpired in the Book of Matthew between Jesus and his twelve chosen disciples. Just before The Last Supper Jesus declared that one of them were going to betray him. Of course, they all denied the claim. However, that’s not what shocked me. What caught my attention was not the disciples’ reaction, but Jesus’ response. All along He knew who was going to betray him and when that betrayal would take place…but he changed not! He treated Judas no different from the other eleven. Now how many of us would have responded in the same manner? I know I would have shown all kinda attitude up in there!!! But Jesus did not concern himself with such trivial tactics. He was strictly about his father's business. He refused to take his eyes off the prize and allow anyone or anything deter him from his mission here on earth.I pray for such dedication and focus. I confess there have been moments when I was doing the right thing, I thought for the right reason but when faced with opposition I allowed it to hurl me off track. But after rereading the message in Matthew it shed some light. What I do for the Lord has nothing to do with popularity, being respected or recognized, neither fame nor fortune. It has absolutely nothing to do with any of those things. In fact, it has nothing to do with me! God selected me as one of His vessels to be used for His glory. Therefore, warfare is expected...let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.The devil doesn't want me to reach my goal and though he can't stop what God has already predestined, his objective is to discourage me. He wants to keep me stressed out and distracted enough where I don't have the time or energy to do the work of the Lord. Remember in the desert when he approached Jesus and taunted him in his weariness. But Jesus wasn't fazed nor did he try to tackle the devil in his own strength. He fought back with the word..."it is written, worship the Lord your God and serve Him only." Whether he was confronted with antagonists or entrusted friend, Jesus never diverted from his assignment. The Secret

Everyone’s running scared talking about America is going through a recession. It’s time like these that economy strategists predicts cutting back and saving money a must. Really? Is that what a recession causes, cut backs? Because if that’s so, I’ve been in a recession for quite awhile now. In fact, I grew up in a recession! We didn’t always have the best of everything, but we made the best of what we had. I surely didn’t prance around in designer outfits, but my clothes were clean and well-kept. We didn’t always eat high on the hog, but every night our bellies were full. It was nothing for my mama to cook up some salmon patties, grits and home-made biscuits for dinner. That’s right, dinner! And we were happy to get it. I often wondered if everyone else was eating as well as we were. RECESSION! Please.You see, back then our parents knew how to make do! But nowadays people don’t know what making do is. They just want to do better. Which is nothing wrong with that. However, don’t forget where you came from. Don’t forget what brought you through. Don’t forget this too shall pass… I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.God is in control of everything, even the recession. The shape the economy is in today is no shock to Him. It didn’t sneak up and catch Him by surprise. He knew this day was coming and He made provisions for it. Provisions for you and I. You don’t believe me. Well…let me remind you of an era when Egypt experienced the same ordeal. The land of Egypt was going through a famine—a recession—Pharaoh chose Joseph, one in whom is the spirit of God, to be in charge to provide for the people during this time…there was famine in all the other lands, but in the whole land of Egypt there was food. Everybody’s belly was full. It may not have been what they wanted, but they were supplied with what they needed. Due Season

I have learned that life is not always fair. I’m not going to always get what I want when I want it nor will things easily come my way. Nevertheless, in the midst of going through, God is there. It is He who keeps me from losing it all…my mind, my finances and even myself. Just when I am about to do something completely foolish, God steps in. He thoughtfully removes a bad influence from out of my life. He closes the door of a potentially disastrous business venture. He locks up all possible expansion for advancement. Why you ask? I ask. The timing simply wasn’t right.Though my spirit is fully aware of this knowledge, my flesh instinctively wants to fight against it and it is at those times when I am tempted to make things happen in my own strength. I toy with the idea of maneuvering people and circumstances around to better suit my needs. But then, I’m reminded of Sarah’s story in the bible. God had made her a promise and when it didn’t manifest in her timetable, she plotted her own plan. Her impatience causing disorder and chaos. However, God remained faithful and the promise was delayed, but not denied.God has His own reasoning as to when and how He rains down miracles and blessings and He has ordained an appointed time to release blessings into my life…for in due season we shall reap a harvest. I may feel I’m ready to elevate to the next level in my career. But God knows there is still a work He needs to perform in me. Delayed, but not denied. I’m packed and all ready to move into my new home right NOW. But God sees down the road that the interest rate/price will be lowered and therefore making the house more affordable. Delayed, but not denied. I cannot understand why I continue to run into the wrong guys and have yet to run into the Right One. But God recognizes my potential and is using this time prefecting and preparing me to birth a ministry for Him. Delayed, but not denied.As my fruit ripens, God keeps me in a holding pattern. While in transition, He is maturing me. Strengthen and stretching my faith. Grooming me for what’s about to occur...when He has tested me, I will emerge as pure gold. Strategically aligning the atmosphere for the anticipation of my arrival…Yet I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory He will reveal in ME later. For all creation is waiting eagerly for the manifestation of when God will reveal who His children really are! Powerless

Have you ever been tired…of mothering? Truth be told, I have. I’ve been to the point where I wanted to throw in the towel and just give up. I’ve even gone as far as contemplating dropping my boys off to their father and not returning. I would simply keep driving and not look back. I was tired. Burnt-out. Exhausted. Spent. Overwhelmed. Underappreciated. Anyway, you call it, it all comes up the same…t-i-r-e-d! I was tired of giving and giving, receiving nothing but bad attitudes and ungratefulness in exchange. I fuss and I punish, only to have disobedience resurface. I attempt to love them into submission, with no avail. Tears become my closest friend as I ponder where I went wrong. My heart grieves a slow death as I watch up-close the destruction of my hopes of having a perfect family.Reality check: After the Holy Spirit slapped me around a bit I was brought back to remembrance of how when I was at my worst what my Father did for me—His very imperfect child…You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Romans 5:6 Wow! He didn’t turn His back on me as I acted up and ran amuck. He didn’t wash His hands of me when I was a wayward mess. Instead, while I was my filthiest, dirtiest self He continued to show me love. Real love…God demonstrates His own love for us in this while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Roman 5:8Jacob was a practiced trickster. Noah an alcoholic. David a renowned womanizer. All imperfect. All flawed. All God’s children. But, yet, they all were used for His glory. Who am I to think of abandoning my own children of promise, when God didn’t permit me to fall by the wayside? Children are a gift of the Lord. The fruit of the womb is a reward. Psalm 127:3I’ve found motherhood cannot be contained in a box with a pretty red bow tied on top. Heartaches are guaranteed. The laboring will be heavy and intense. You won’t have the answers to all the questions. You will feel defenseless to their pouty mouths and puppy dog eyes. They will try you at every end. Your patience will be lost. Have you Mastered the Balancing Act?

Balance is a precious thing. Some days I have it and others …not so much. I don’t think my life is particularly busier than most; I just try to cram 40 hours of activity in a 24 hour day! I’m learning to cut things down to manageable size tasks and even to not work every day; yet I still feel a twinge of guilt when I’m sitting at my computer and my sons want me to stop and play basketball or color. I have a great husband who doesn’t mind pitching in and doing when I’m “in the zone”. There’s always a nagging that I should be able to do more. Looking for tips from some other busy women…how do you keep everything in balance?

Hiding From Our Greatness

I am often struck by the number of people who have extraordinary gifts and talents, but are afraid to expose them to the world. How many extremely talented people do you know who are hiding their greatness? All of us have something unique and special to offer. Oftentimes we hold back and only scratch the surface of what we could be. All of the symptoms of hiding are really the same in each of us. It’s either something in our past, an incident that we felt shut the door to a promising future, or an erroneous message that we gave too much “air-time” to. Many of you may be in a job or career that stifles your greatness. But for some unconscious reason, you have chosen to sit quietly and hope for the best. Or maybe you have this great idea for a business and you’ve done all the ‘leg work’ to get it going — but fail to launch.Remember as kids when you used to play the game ‘hide and go seek.’ The person hiding went to great lengths to be inconspicuous (ducking, dodging and shifting places) to be safe and not found. However, the “seeker” takes great pride in their ability to launch into action. The challenge to find what was hidden created adrenaline that lead them on a path to endless possibilities and discoveries — their greatness. Think about it. It takes more effort to hide and stay small than to come out of hiding and do the work.I had a problem with ‘failure to launch’ in the workplace before I made the transition to explore my greatness. I clung to the safe positions. You know, the ones that kept you hidden in a cubicle, never challenging your intellect, never requiring you to present an idea/project: the one’s that pigeonhole you. The moment I made the transition to come out of hiding and step into a career that harnessed my greatness (helping other’s realize their greatness), it changed my life in ways I never imagined.Hiding BehaviorsEver wonder why your career or entrepreneurial venture seemed to ‘fail to launch’ to what you desired it to be? The real truth is your behavior(s). These are behaviors you may or may not be consciously aware of. But if you really dig deep enough you will discover that you haven’t been much of a “seeker” in exercising your greatness. What you have been communicating and actually doing is playing “peek-a-boo” with yourself. Instead of putting yourself out there and getting known in the workplace/marketplace, you do a little here and a little there. I’m speaking to those who never seem to feel they are ready and to those who hide behind fear.Here’s what hiding behaviors might look like:· The Perpetual Student – “I’m almost there, I need more training, seminars, etc.” Always preparing, never doing.· The Marketing/Branding Wimp – “ I’ll do a little and leave the rest to chance.”· The ScaredyCat – “I don’t want to be in their face.” Doesn’t want to seem aggressive.· The Procrastinator – “ I’ll do it tomorrow.” Waits till the last minute, next week, next month, next year…· The She Who Would Be Everything – “I can do it all.” Wants to do everything, never committing to one thing and doing it well.Reasons We HideWe are afraid of all sorts of things. If you ask most people what they are afraid of they’ll tell you, “nothing really.” But if you engage them in thoughtful conversation, you’ll really find out the truth. Some fears may seem trivial to others, but very real to the person who is experiencing them. We hide our greatness for many reasons. Reasons that keep us on the launching pad so long that we lose our flame for what we once hoped for: a promotion, career change, competitive salary, thriving business, and much more. So why aren’t we being our greatest selves?Some of those reasons may be…1. Fear of becoming big and powerful in the world.2. Fearing we might fail and how that is going to look to our colleagues, friends, family.3. Afraid of being found out – we aren’t as smart as we appear to be.4. Fear of looking or sounding stupid.5. Listening to a spouse or family member(s) that may not be supportive.6. Fear that our success will take us far from our comfort zone.7. Fear of money (management, bad decisions).8. Fear of making powerful connections and having influence.9. Fear of what will people think? How will they treat me?10. 7 Steps to Successful Article Marketing

Entrepreneurs are always looking for cheap ways to market their brand. Well you can not get any cheaper then article marketing! Article marketing is a subtle way companies can gain exposure for their business by writing articles that provide information about news and trends occurring within their industries. It is a cost effective form of promoting your products and services because it does not require you to spend money and it enables you to build a relationship with your readers. Companies that incorporate article marketing into their marketing campaigns will demonstrate their expertise within their industry while simultaneously attracting new customers.For example, if I am a hair stylist I could write an article about what products people should use to have healthy hair. When your readers are seeking services within your industry (i.e. hair); your company name will be a part of their evoked set because of the articles you have shared with them. If you plan on incorporating article marketing into your marketing campaign you have to produce quality content (emphasis added on quality). Therefore, if your goal is to have people remember your company based upon your articles, remember to keep the following points in mind:1. Pick a topic that will interest your readers. Obviously this topic should be related to your industry in order to resonate with your audience. Your readers want information that they will be able to apply to their own business. Therefore, you need to put yourself in the shoes of your readers. Think about questions that your readers are seeking to have answered. The ability and the degree to which you answer these questions will determine how much your readers value your expertise, so choose your topic with care and stick to what you know.2. Why is your article different? Chances are your topic has already been written about by someone else . Therefore, you need to choose an angle that has very little to no coverage. You can get a lot of ideas of the various viewpoints people have regarding your topic by visiting forums within your industry, blogs, etc.3. Get backup. Once you have identified the angle you want to take for your article, seek out sources whose opinions will further reiterate the angle you are trying to convey regarding your topic. Not sure where to find your sources? Head on over to Help A Reporter Out. The title of this website is pretty self explanatory. It is a website where sources help journalists complete their articles. Those writing the articles get the sources they need and those who are sources are able to gain notoriety in their respective industries.4. Mind your SEO. Article marketing is an excellent way to optimize your website. Take this opportunity to think of keywords that your readers will use in order to find your article. It is imperative that you take some time to think about this step because the key words you choose will decide whether people are even able to find the article you have written.5. Write on. You picked your topic, you got your back up and are minding your SEO so now it is time to write. The first thing I recommend doing is choosing a title. I know some people like to choose a title after they write their article, but I find choosing a title first helps me to stay focused on what the article is supposed to be about (It is up to you in how you choose to proceed). When choosing a title make sure it will grab your readers attention and uses your keywords (remember mind your SEO). While you are writing your article, make sure you do not lose focus of your angle. There is nothing worse than for your readers to feel like they wasted time reading your article because they felt it was incoherent.6. Tell them who you are. An author box should be at the end of all your articles. This is your “elevator pitch” on paper. Tell your readers who you are, what your represent and where they can contact you for more information. This is your chance to subtly self promote your company.7. All done. Now what? You have written your masterpiece and now you need to share it with the world. You need to submit your articles to as many industry specific websites, article directories, blogs, etc. However, you need to alter each version you send to these websites in order to avoid sending duplicate content (i.e. use different words that do not take away from the point of the article).Article marketing is not difficult, but it can be time consuming. S-H-E-M-A Gurls Blog TimesSmile…It’s The Sweetest Emotion~ You’ll never amount to anything!~ That idea is silly!~ Do you really think YOUR capable of that?Blessings and Great success to all….Where do I begin to tell the story…So many stories so many times, It was when I moved to Cleveland, Ohio and my children were told not to come to live with me because I wouldn’t become nothing of importance,yet they did not know the LOVE my children had for me and the LOVE I had for them…..Love Conquers. I was told I have great writing skills and many talents, and I wrote a true book, I written poetry, and songs… yes, many talents I shared, yet many haters…who cared… It was the Dean of Cleveland State College who promised opportunity to me , So stepping out on my dream ….. I moved to Cleveland with everything,but my 2 daughters,my son came with me, when I got to Cleveland, It was if she never knew me at all. I met with her on campus and she didn’t have nothing to offer me,after using some of my writings in a show presentations, I knew that door wouldn’t open for me. Nevertheless I was determine to find my way. I starting cleaning rooms,houses,buildings,and eventually I slept in those rooms with my son for a place to stay…months later my cleaning work had lead me into a position that would change my life. I am Blessed by the Best….I became a sub-contractor for ALPHA Tub and Tile, I moved into my own apartment in Cleveland heights with my children and maintain a better life for myself and my 3 children…….Praise God…so many times…The lord keeps on making a way!!!By msfelecia on May 20, 2009http://www.shemagurls.info/2009/05/16/pipe-dreams/comment-page-1/#comment-62
