Face to Face Networking For Women

Networking is hardly a new idea in the business community. However, in the current economic climate, networking is more important than ever. Female entrepreneurs often underestimate the importance of networking. It is easy to imagine a male business person actively selling their business to anyone who will listen.

Women often shy away form this kind of behavior because they do not want to seem like they are boasting or over selling their accomplishments and abilities. The opposite is often true: They may, in fact, be under selling themselves. Usually, this is because they do not feel qualified or confident enough to share what they have to offer.  It is especially important for women who own their own businesses to get together with other female entrepreneurs for precisely this reason. Meeting other women can help them to learn confidence and how to share their ideas with the world.

Women who have more experience navigating the business community can give valuable advice and support to those who are just starting out. Being able to share ideas and get feedback can be the difference between success and failure for a women owned business.  Some of the benefits of networking are more immediate and practical. Networking can lead to referrals and increased business. People tend to patronize and recommend businesses that have a personal relationship with. For this reason, face-to-face networking is especially effective at growing sales and building trust in the community.

A client recently asked me ‘how would she know when she was finally successful.’ I explained that success means different things to each of us. To achieve success, you must define what it signifies. Success is a journey! As we sail through life, we encounter many obstacles along the way. Imagine yourself sailing the high seas; navigating your ship as it sails through calm waters. At times, it will buck in storms. If you are determined to stay the course, you must periodically adjust your navigational instruments and adjust when problems arise.

As you continue your journey, envision the serene, tranquil and calm blue water with sea gulls flying above, a light house in the far distance and several boats sailing calmly with the waves; here are 4 ways to navigate to your port of dreams!  Read more...

11/11/11-Comes Once In a Lifetime

So, on this unique day, take the time to analyze the year so far in your personal life and in your business. The year is almost over. Look back to your 2011 New Year resolutions and see what you've stuck to, accomplished or still working on. Remember to stay motivated in all you're doing. If the business ideas you had at the beginning of the year, still aren't in fruition, 'put yourself in drive' and do all you can to have it up by the beginning of 2012. Look at the goals you set for yourself and your business and do all you can to accomplish one of them by the end of 2011. You still have time! Celebrate this unique day in reflection and remember, YOU have to make a move to see change.
