The 12 "ATTITUDE" SUCCESS KEYS

THE 12 ‘ATTITUDE’ SUCCESS KEYSTo survive and succeed in life, is to learn how to cope with all the ups and downs that be undoubtedly be thrown your way. This can only be accomplished by developing and maintaining a positive attitude. It is not what happens to you that matters, but how your react to it.You can choose to let disappointment get you down or you can choose to consider it a learning experience and move on. The choice is yours. When you are discouraged or even depressed by missed opportunities goals or you can dust yourself off, smile defiantly and try again-the choice is ultimately and always yours. The following “Attitude” success keys will help you make the most of every situation that comes your way.Talk positively to yourself. We all make mistakes, nobody goes through life without making mistakes and experiencing failure. Tell yourself you can do things well and be satisfied with the knowledge that mistakes are natural and failures are inevitable. Choose to become an optimist, smile when you feel down, learn from all your mistakes, become resilient, objective and flexible.Be confident. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want. The worst that can happen is the answer will be no, it is not the end of the world, no big deal. But if you never ask, you’ll never get a yes. Always be respectful and polite.Show appreciation. When you have gained what you wanted or when others have shown you an unexpected favor. Offer genuine praise and recognition on a regular basis and never wait until an important meeting to make an announcement about a job well doneBe friendly and approachable. Always greet anyone you meet with warmth and enthusiasm. Smile and be ready and willing to give assistance when ever needed.Be consistent. Constantly nature relationships and maintain open lines of communication. Not only when you want something, but on a regular basis.Don’t take everything personally. Although it’s important to be self aware, you do need to realize that many things that happen, have more to do with other people than you. Paranoia feeds on itself. If you catch people you know talking together without you, do not immediately assume they are talking about you - its better to turn your attention to something worthwhile and get on with your day.Be persistent. Never give up. No matter challenges fall you way, you must try another strategy or find another way to achieve your goals.Eliminate the words ‘if only’. From time to time, we all say things like ‘if only I had a better job’ or ‘if only I had more money’, but if you find yourself dwelling on all the things you don’t have, you’ll never move ahead. Take time to focus on all the positive things that you do have in your life and work actively on attaining your goals.Pay attention to others. Be an excellent listener. Keep an open mind and listen to both positive and negative opinions, most people talk too much and listen too little.Don’t add insult to injury. If things haven’t gone as planned, don’t immediately start to call yourself names. You wouldn’t put up with someone else calling you a loser or an idiot, so don’t put up with the same behavior from yourself.Become resilient. Learn to bounce back quickly after rejection or disappointment. Know that your feelings always show through your emotions, tone or voice. Never allow yourself time for a ‘pity party’.Have a ‘can do’ attitude. Ultimately it is your own attitude that will have the greatest impact on your life. A ‘can do’ attitude will lead you to believe in yourself, your abilities and the fact that one person can make a difference. And it will rub off on other people. Not only will they see you as a positive, cheerful person, your attitude will become contagious and will in turn, affect those who you come in contact with.©2002Need a speaker for your upcoming event:Walethia Aquil is the founder and director of Aquil Consulting and Training. Slave Cemetery Found in Wake Forest, NC!

"If they could not rest in life, let them in death!"A slave cemetery has been found in Wake Forest, North Carolina. This grave site was found 10 ten years ago by John Hebert. He kept it a secret to keep it safe so people would not come in and try to steal artifacts. It's probably the only true place where the slaves can rest, and now the Wake County Board of Education wants to build over it. It's a historical site that should not be forgotten and built over. Don't let the suffering of 65 to 70 slaves be tread on just because the school board wants another high school.www.SavetheSlaves.com

How to Conceal a Tattoo with Makeup

Even those of us who love our body art occasionally need or want to cover it up, whether for work purposes, a formal function, or a visit to family who might not approve. If clothing won’t meet your cover-up needs, then it’s time to learn how to artfully apply makeup to disguise your ink.The Right Product“Street” foundations and concealers will work to hide under eye circles and small blemishes, but they won’t provide the full and lasting coverage of a specialty product. There are numerous heavy-duty concealers on the market, such as Dermablend or Ben Nye Concealer Palette; these are the same products that TV and film makeup artists use to cover an actor’s tattoos and other permanent marks (such as scars or veins).Look for a product that is completely opaque, heavy, and creamy, not one of the “liquid-to-powder” foundations. Any product with the phrases “sheer” or “light” in the description will not do the trick for this cover-up job! Most tattoos use a blue-based ink, so a yellow concealer will help to counteract the blue tones. Also, make sure that the concealer matches your skin tone exactly. When applying body makeup, even the slightest variation between the makeup and your skin tone is just as obvious as the tattoo itself. If necessary, purchase several shades and mix to match your skin tone. You can find specialty tattoo concealers in the cosmetic sections of large department stores. When purchasing in department stores, you have the added bonus of being able to test the product and receive recommendations from the cosmetic consultants. If you cannot find a tattoo concealer in your area, you can always search and order online.ApplicationWith body makeup, long-lasting coverage is vital. Many cream concealers and foundations will leave traces of makeup on your clothes ---or worse, on other people’s clothes! The last thing you want after carefully disguising your tattoo is to have the makeup smudge or disappear, revealing your ink. Practice with your concealer ahead of time to make sure that it lives up to its promises. For lasting results, you must first begin with a clean and dry foundation. Cleanse your skin as usual, and then use a toner to wipe away any traces of dirt, oil, and makeup. Rinse the area and pat dry. Next, follow the recommendations on the package of your product. Some products will require several layers, but others promise one-step application.Use a clean, dry makeup sponge for a smooth application. First, apply the product to the area, then use the sponge to spread the concealer evenly. If you are applying several coats, allow each to dry completely. If possible, you might want to cover all exposed skin in the area for an even look. This works well for a facial or hand tattoo but won’t work as well if you are exposing a lot of skin. If you can’t or don’t want to cover all of your skin, make sure to blend the makeup carefully into the surrounding area. When you are satisfied with the coverage, dust the area with translucent powder to set the makeup in place (some products come with a powder designed to work with that specific formula). Then, test your makeup job by gently wiping a cotton swab or piece of tissue across the surface, and hopefully, your makeup won’t smudge! Finally, check the coverage in several types of light: if you’ll be in bright light, you’ll need even heavier coverage than in dim lighting. And if all else fails, consult a professional makeup artist for his or her expertise!

My Dear Sisters,I feel so truly blessed to have lived through many historical moments during my lifetime and I just wanted to share my feelings with you. Unfortunately most of these moments have been tragic with the untimely deaths of JFK, Bobby, MLK, and Brother Malcolm, plus many conflicts of war, the riots in Newark, NJ and Los Angeles. Many of my friends did not return from Viet Nam and Desert Storm, but on the other hand my blessings have abounded I saw the multitudes march on Washington, I saw the first man on the moon,, I heard Martin's speech forty years ago as a teenager (glued to the black and white images across the screen.) I rooted for sister Shirley Chisolm, Brothers Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton as they drew their line in the sand during their respective attempts at the presidency...and now I have seen the first Black President Elect in the history of this country. You have no idea the feelings swelling within me right now! You know when Michelle Obama said she had never been more proud to be an American? That's what I feel and even more (maybe 100 fold.) Words can not even come close to paint that picture.I now know more emphatically why my mother and father shed tears that I could not comprehend at the time (in the late 50's and 60's and even early 70's.) My paternal grandmother was conceived after slavery in 1885 (God bless her soul she lived to be 94,) and her father was...the former slave master himself. So just put every positive thought and feeling you can imagine when you fast forward to 11/04/08 ...and that's where I am.Will YOU remember where you were at the particular time when the it was officially announced...that Barack Obama would be the next President of these United States? My husband and I were invited to various watch parties, but we wanted to share this historic event with our 15 and 13 year old children. We wanted to talk and share with them how we felt and get them to open up about their feelings too. We wanted them to understand what this event meant and to be able to discuss our personal feelings so they would want to share theirs with us. I hope each and everyone who reads this, had an exceptionally wonderful day on 11/04/2008 and the historic implications will be etched in your hearts and souls forever. So let me tell you something my sisters, you will never forget where you were and what you were doing or who you were with on that historic day. I remember something about every single one of those major events that I mentioned that happened in my life and so will you. And tell your children, and your grandchildren. Never let this story be forgotten. Remember Alex Haley. If his ancestors story hadn't been preserved through the art of story telling, we would have not been inspired by his family's story in the epic mini-series and book "Roots".Love, peace and unity your sista, Darlene

Regardless of whether you voted Democrat or Republican in this week’s election, you’d have to agree that the political campaigns of both major parties could give us semesters worth of information about marketing. Through television ads, e-mail and viral marketing, campaign speeches and debates, the candidates aimed to sell you on their brand and ideas, hoping to seal the deal on November 4th. Here are four marketing lessons of the campaigns:1. Tell your story. The candidates gave you their personal information, and how they came to run for office. Followers responded to John McCain’s military service, Barack Obama’s family history, Sarah Palin as hockey mom, and Joe Biden riding the train to and from Washington every day. Their resumes and life stories came out early and were repeated often. In this increasingly connected world, we are learning more and more about each other. Through social networking sites, blogs and websites, you have the opportunity to tell your personal and professional story. Let your current and prospective clients know who you are and why you chose your profession or started your business. Be clear about the services you offer and those you don’t, developing your own professional platform. Just as a candidate would in a campaign ad, let them know what you do best. (See if you can do it in 30 seconds!) But most of all, let clients know how your skills and services will benefit them.2. Become the solution. Obama offered change from typical Washington politics; McCain claimed to be a maverick, breaking rank with his political party for the greater good. Marketers call this the Unique Selling Proposition: how your client’s life, business, or project will improve if they choose you. Let them know what you offer that your competition doesn’t. Differentiate your business, and when they hire you, stay true to your promise.3. Become a community organizer. Build a network of friends who believes in you and your business and will work on your behalf. Your community includes employees, colleagues, friends, and clients. Listen to their story, show them that what you have to offer is the solution to their problem (or the problem of someone they know), and they will be happy to spread your good name. As we know, word of mouth is the best form of advertising. The candidates had thousands of volunteers knocking on doors, making phone calls, attending rallies, wearing buttons and t-shirts, and posting signs.4. Tell your story to the world. In 2008, it’s so much easier. You don’t need to pay for television or radio advertising, unless that’s where your audience is. You can utilize the Internet and wireless devices to spread your story inexpensively and build relationships. Use frequent e-mails to update clients on your company’s employees, services and projects (remember to give them a way to unsubscribe). Use a blog to link to your favorite articles or post your ideas on current industry trends. And by becoming active on social networking sites, your friends and connections can link you with theirs, thereby giving you those hundreds or thousands of volunteers who will spread your name. Just think, Obama even used text messaging to announce his Vice-Presidential candidate in the middle of the night, and it made those who subscribed feel important.By studying the marketing strategies of an unrelated industry, you may discover new approaches not being used by your competition. Your best marketing ideas may come from the least likely places, even political campaigns.© Copyright – Karen A. Davis. All Rights Reserved Worldwide.

TJ's DJ's Homecoming

TJ’s DJ’s Spectacular HomecomingBy: Keith Kennedy & Nick ComneyThe eve of Halloween on October 30 in Tallahassee, FL provided plenty of treats for aspiring DJs, artists, producers, and hundreds of other Tastemakers to network with various individuals in the music community and form relationships that will prove to be helpful in their developing careers. This event by TJ’s DJ’s entitled the Tastemakers Only DJ/Music Conference also became a highlight of the Florida A&M University’s Homecoming festivities. The evening began with a spectacular Beat Battle presented by Jim Jonsin’s BeatBakery.com. Sixteen of the best up and coming producers hoped to present themselves as the next big thing in the world of beat creation. They would go head to head judged by production veterans such as DJ Speedy (Beyonce’, Young Jeezy, BG) until one remained. Little did these promising minds such as Network, Man Beast, C4 Bombsquad, Caramel Labs, and Charlie Boom know that the reigning champ, Sam Addams, was more than ready to defend his crown as he took home the trophy, once again.Speaking of trophies, TJ’s DJ’s took the opportunity to recognize DJs who excel in their craft with the prestigious crystallized trophy, the Platinum Needle Award. This event’s recipients were DJ 151 (Jacksonville) and DJ E-Zone (WWLD-Tallahassee).After the hardware was presented the entertainment portion provided plenty of tricks on how to keep a crowd’s attention. Beginning with the Modelween set where Tallahassee’s finest graced the stage for a modeling scene that kept the Tastemakers on the edge of their seat. Meanwhile throughout the night, the best talent on the horizon such as Papa Duck, D Cap, DJ Brad, Mr. Cassanova, NBA Entertainment, MoBillionaireZ, Kaliko, Total Kaos, M. Beezy, Juney Boomdata, Primo and J Harden along with his pole dancers graced the stage. But, Pastor Troy brought the Tastemakers to a crunken frenzy demonstrating why he is the people’s champ. The Tastemakers Conference was not all fun and games as there was an element of business explored by the Tastemakers Radio Panel. Leading field innovators such as Kaspa (founder, Hittmenn DJs, Michelle Reynolds (WVVS – Valdosta, GA), Wendy Day (artist advocate & founder, the Rap Coalition), Big Nick (WLYX – Valdosta, GA), Sean D (PD, WANM / DJ, The Schoolboys), Young Cash (artist, Nappy Boy Ent), and Tony C described how to interact with radio to your benefit from a number of angles.Make sure you log on to www.tjsdjs.com to find out the information on the next TJ’s DJ’s Tastemakers Conference during the 1st Quarter ’09. Race Relations Are High For Hopes

(BlackDoctor.org) -- According to a USATODAY/Gallup Poll that was taken the day after Barack Obama won, the election inspired optimistic views of the future race relations in the U.S.Confidence that the nation will resolve its racial problems rose to a historic level. Two-thirds of Americans predict that relations between blacks and whites "will eventually be worked out" in the United States, by far the highest number since Gallup first asked the question in the midst of the civil rights struggle in 1963.Optimism jumped most among blacks. Five months ago, half of African Americans predicted the nation eventually would solve its racial problems. Now, two-thirds do."Barack didn't elect himself; we Americans elected him," says Roger Wilkins, a civil rights leader and professor of history and American culture at George Mason University in suburban Virginia. "And I think that there are lots and lots of people who say, 'Damn, we're not as racist as we thought we were,' so they're pleased."Read the full article at: http://www.blackdoctor.org/articles.aspx?counter=33951

NOW THAT OBAMA'S IN OFFICE , WHAT NOW?

Ok everybody, I have been discussing this issue with many of my friends and family. Most feel that since Obama's in office that some how we as a people will be living better off. I don't agree with that. I really believe Obama ran for Presidency to help this Country and all who live in it, not just Black people. Yes it means more to us as a people and I'm sure to him but we still shouldn't be nieve as to his intentions. He needs us to be seen in a different light. Who but us as a people can shed that light? Exactly. What I do believe though, is that since he IS in office, it's up to our problematic black men to straighten up their act and not embarrass us or the President. There can no longer be the excuse that the "white man" is holding you back from ANYTHING. Seriously. You owe it to Obama who has fought long and hard to get where he is to do what we were destined as a people to do, take care of our RESPONSIBILITIES. That means take care of your kids by instilling morals and values in their lives , loving and honoring your Wives or baby momma's and securing an education so that you can create jobs and or keep yours. There is no excuse. He has done what has ALWAYS been said to have been impossible. Now that he is here, please for GOD"S sake don't make him look bad. If you've never had a positive role model in your life, you have one now. He was raised by JUST his Mom and then his Grandparents. Look at his Wife Michelle. That Woman has been by his side for the past 16 years, continuously supporting him and raising their 2 children. I'll bet you have a "Michelle" right next to you as well, but do you treat her as if she is your rock like Obama does his wife? Do you let her know that she is loved? Do you appreciate anything she has ever done for you like putting and keeping a roof over your head whether it be in the PROJECTS, AN APARTMENT ON SEC.8, OR A HOME IN THE SUBURBS? How have you shown her that you need her? Has she blessed you with God's greatest gift, children? How do your Son's and Daughter's view you as a Dad? Do they see you punching their Mom or hugging her? Are they hearing you call her out of her name or do they hear nothing but beautiful names like "My Queen, Baby, Sweetheart, Honey, Babygirl, Boo"? Are your children looking you in the eyes with LOVE or FEAR? Do they reach for a hug or duck, anticipating a slap or punch? Do you recieve smiles when they glance at you or are they always looking down avoiding eye contact with you? Does your Wife/Baby Mother cook your meals with Love or Fear? These are the questions you must ask yourself. I could get on some Sista's as well but much too often we are the victims of battered wife syndrome. We have learned to accept the beatings that we have seen our Mother's go thru just to allow it in our own adult lives because it was all we knew. So you see, Brotha's it is you that have to lay that ground of love and stability in the lives of your Daughters, especially your Son's. Don't let them grow up believing that they can be an abuser or an abusee. For those of you with Daughter's , imagine if your baby girl came home with a blackeye. WHAT WOULD YOU DO AND OR SAY TO YOUR BABY GIRL? Uh Huh....see what I'm saying? I wished to God that Martin Luther King was here to have witnessed this. Rosa Parks, Betty Shabazz and many more. Did you see those tears that rolled down Jesse Jackson's face? Do you understand what that man has witnessed and has been fighting for all these years? Did you see Oprah and all the other supporters crying as well? Do you understand how tired those who fought for this were, but never gave up? The slaves long gone must be singing and banging the hell out of those drums! Brotha's, shape the hell up! I have a wonderful Husband that came from a not-so-great background, had no positive role models, was abused, abandoned and shipped around from foster home to foster home and you know what? HE HIS THE ABSOLUTE BEST FATHER ,STEP-FATHER, HUSBAND , LOVER, BEST FRIEND AND PROVIDER ON THE PLANET EARTH! He didn't use not 1 excuse! I'm so happy that our children see him as their hero and not their tormentor. Lets start this CHANGE and let AMERICA see who we really are. Don't use Oprah, Obama, Denzel, Will and any other black celeb as your representative. They have worked hard as hell to make thier own mark on society. Be your own person and set your own standards. Leave your own positive mark. I shouldn't even have to be submitting this because I know black men are the bomb, but because some haven't gotten it yet, I'm still holding out hope! Sista's , please pass this on to your Brother's, Father's, Uncle's, Son's, Husband's, Male Cousin's, Male Friend's. Think of ALL who have suffered and lost their dignity, rights and their lives for this moment. From the slave ships to the White House, the cotton fields to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue this has been a long, unpaved ,bloody ,gut-wrenching, painful, sorrowful journey. BUT........we've made it ! We made it! Get it together, WE owe it to Barack and Michelle. YVE
