Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending. ~ Maria Robinson

Do you find yourself wishing you could go back and start again or start a new beginning?

Of course there is such a thing as a fresh start or new beginning, however, you cannot literally go back in life and start a new beginning.

So what do you do?

You can spend your days murmuring and complaining about what you haven’t accomplished over your life or you can take an optimistic approach by taking inventory of what didn’t work and why? What did work and do more of it and of course discover new systems and strategies that you can implement..

Make the necessary mindset shifts. Many times having the wrong mindset can sabotage your endeavors towards empowering success.

Seek God’s wisdom. You can get as much knowledge as you want, however, you need wisdom to tell knowledge what to do.

Connect with an accountability partner such as a mentor or coach such as myself. My goal is to help you discover your authentic self, get unstuck and to empower you to make big changes and achieve results faster than you have before in your life and business!

As I always say “Empowerment is choice. Yours!”

Make the choice to start today, right here and right now laying the foundation to make a new ending.

This can be your best year ever!

Make endeavors to unleash the Fit and Fabulous you.

I invite you to join me for my no cost Tele-training “How to Unleash the Fit and Fabulous you so you can manifest as the unstoppable
irresistible woman you were meant to
be and live an Authentically Brilliant
Diamond life!!”

Take a moment to share this post====>
The New Year typically comes and goes a little too fast for me. I don’t know about you but 2010 seems to have snuck up on me…yikes…do you feel the same way. Have you wondered “Where has the year gone”, well don’t fret you’re not the only one. Many find themselves caught off guard by the New Year and enter the year without a plan of action.
It is my hope that something I share in this blog will push you to starting the year on purpose. New Year’s Resolutions have become the tradition for starting the year but they usually dissolve after the first few months of the year. Some people get so filled with anxiety when they don’t meet their resolutions that they give up or and become overwhelmed by the list. Have you ever wondered what the top New Years resolutions are?
Well  I did a little research of my own and discovered the TOP Five New Years resolutions from last year
Wow! I see myself in this list..do you? We all have good intentions, myself included, but we need more than a list..we need a solution. Stay tuned for Solutions for your New Year’s Resolutions.
I would love to hear what Your Goals are for the New Year. So take a moment and share your goals for the New Year below.Kai

Hey there,

I usually don't do this because I believe in building relationships with people before doing business, but this is too good not to share. A new company called SnackHealthy is offering the chance to start a home based business with them for FREE through the remainder of the year (Friday). They are a publicly traded organization, and offer 9 ways of getting paid, including stock options. The products they market are low calorie snacks (popcorn, pretzels, fruit chips, energy drinks etc..). I've checked them out and spent a few hours talking to one of their leaders. It's an official opportunity. Check out this website and if you're ready to go (it's free, what do you have to lose?) sign up, or you can always give me a call 916-248-0297 for more information.

Wishing you growth and prosperity,

Financial Planning 2011

Greetings All,

I am starting financial planning for 2011, which may be late, but at least it's not January 1st.  I have stumbled upon Christian Personal Finance www.christianpf.com, which has all types of helpful information, links, and free templates & downloads.  I have also committed to using coupons when I go grocery shopping.  Feel free to join me in this journey.  If our personal financial life is not where it should be, how can we expect to excel in buisiness?

A Gift worth Giving

10744058656?profile=original

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act ofcaring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. LeoBuscaglia

During this Christmas season many people stress themselves out and may become depressed due to their inability to provide what they wantfor their loved ones. Often times we allow this to be the season ofbeat down. Yes, I said that and what I mean is that you may beatyourself down because you’re unable to do better than you did last yearor you can’t get that special gift that you know your loved one desires.

Don’t feel bad it’s a human feeling, however, we are responsible for our actions. Are you responding this year the same way you respondedlast year? Are you allowing this season which is a season of giving tobecome a dreaded time of year? It is the season of giving not simplybecause of what we give but rather what God gave to us, “His gift” Hisonly Son Jesus Christ.

Don’t forget the true meaning of Christmas. It is a time that we as Christians celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Itis then and only then that you can remember and take to heart themessage in the above quote. There is power in the things that we deemvery small. Sure it’s good to give tangible gifts, however, in themidst of your busy endeavors to fulfill the wants of your loved onesdon’t forget passers by or that sister that was put on your heart whomay be going through this year because her loved one is no longer herethis Christmas. Place a phone call, send a card. If you see her atchurch take an extra minute to greet her with an endearing look intoher eye and embrace her with a hug. This can turn a life around.

Give the gift of Authentic caring this Christmas and always. That’s a gift worth giving.

Merry Christmas!

My Blogging Goals for 2011

This year I focused on my graphic and web design goals. Although I have only completed half of my goals, I am still proud of my progress. Next year I want to focus on my blogging goals. I have learned a lot about blogging and myself this past year. I attended conferences, participated in challenges, read a few books, and have done a lot of brainstorming. In the year 2011, I want to step my blogging game up.

1. Redesign the look of my blog. I need some new headshots done and I feel like a new look all around will go a long way. I am not sure if I am going to keep the same color scheme.

2. Refocus my niche. I have a total of 13 categories on this blog, some leaning towards a personal nature. In the future I am going to limit the more personal posts and leave that to my new personal blog, goodbadnfab.com.

3. Dedicate more time to blog. Currently I try to publish three blog posts a week, if I'm lucky. I want to do better, whether it's actually hitting my goal every week or upping the goal to 4 times a week.

4. Get at least 1 blog sponsor. I was able to attend two conferences this pass year and I would like to have the opportunity to attend them again. The thing is - the price tag. I am going to do my homework because I want to be aware of all of the rules and regulations surrounding have a company sponsor you and/or your blog.

A Return to Love

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

You still have time to get those last minute gifts shipped and delivered to you if you'r shopping local. Spend some money with your local artists and Black owned small business.

I don't know why we have a disconnect when it comes to buying from local Black businesses. These are the same people you go to when its time to sell ticket s; ask for donations, money or goodsand services; or advertising for your church/scholarship/whatever.

As we welcome the New Year, it is important to take some time to revisit your business progress and make plans on how you want it to grow.  Now is a perfect time to reflect on the successes and failures of your professional and personal life this past year.  Have you considered what changes you want to implement for the coming year?  Here are 7 top resolutions to jump start your New Year!

Resolution 1:  Get Out of Debt
Easy to say, difficult to do!  According to some experts, Americans charge over one trillion dollars per year using Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.  For many, money is a big source of stress; and it doesn’t help that we’ve had to deal with economic issues over the past few years. This coming year, make it a priority to resolve your money woes.

One of the benefits of joining National Association Women on the Rise (NAWR) is to take advantage of our Women, Money and Power series. Led by Tamara Haskins, CEO and Founder of Haskins Wealth Management Group, Inc., says, “We are educators who believe in providing our members with the information and resources that empower them to make smart financial decisions.”  Haskins, with over 20 years of experience in accounting and financial planning, will, will help members of NAWR take control of their own financial destiny!  She will provide monthly webinars and oversee the member’s forum.

Resolution 2:  Give back

Have you ever considered the impact you would make on the lives of others by sharing your time and talent?  Volunteering or mentoring is such a non-selfish way to give back!  There are many ways you can reach out; find a non-profit organizations in your area that you feel compelled to work with and volunteer; help your local library or hospital; or mentor youths or adults.

Over the past few years, I’ve had many women reach out to me about mentoring. As much as I would like to help everyone, it is not possible.  So, in 2011, NAWR will launch its mentoring program, “One-Mentor-One” a program that will match successful women entrepreneurs and executives with mentees.

Resolution 3:  Understand your finances

This is extremely important for the health of your business.  As a new or growing business, you need to be diligent about your finances.  The NUMBER ONE reason that businesses fail is due to lack of control over finances.

Some experts suggest reviewing your profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow reports on a monthly basis.  To manage this, there is accounting software such as QuickBooks specifically for small businesses.  Also, hiring a CPA or bookkeeper can be a wise investment.

Resolution 4:  Learn how to delegate

As your business grows, so should your ‘tight grip’ on controlling every aspect of your business.  The worst thing that you can do is become a slave to your business.  This attitude can cripple you!  I know this first hand; as a former owner of a building maintenance company; I was president, HR generalist, payroll specialist, trainer, janitor, sales woman and more!  It took me a while to realize that not only could I not effectively wear every hat, but in order to grow and regain my sanity, I had to trust others.  It is important that you delegate non-core business tasks to your staff or consider outsourcing.  Play on the strengths of others. The lack of delegation will stifle your growth, or worse, cause you to run your business and yourself into a pit fall.

Resolution 5:  Make more time with family & friends
One of the reasons we go into business is the idea of being flexible with our time.  So, the idea of having time for family and friends seems like it should be a no-brainer, right?  According to recent polls conducted by General Nutrition Centers, Quicken, and others shows that more than 50% of Americans vow to appreciate loved ones and spend more time with family and friends this year.

You have control over your time, so make sure that you balance work and life to be able to spend it with those that are important to you.

Revolution 6:  Network religiously
One of the most successful ways to promote your business is through networking.  You are in business to grow, so make networking a key part of your marketing strategy so that you position yourself to connect with the right people.

Networking is a lifestyle in which you need to incorporate onto your “To Do” list. By networking, you are developing your social skills by engaging or interacting in an informal gathering to communicate with others for mutual assistance or support. By acquainting yourself with other business owners or executives, you are building meaningful relationships. There are many organizations that you can become involved in such as the Chamber of Commerce, Business Network International (BNI) or a professional organization related to your industry.

NAWR recognizes the importance of creating a platform for women to network.  We’ve built a great virtual community for women to network, collaborate and build lasting relationships.

Katrina Harrell, President of KM Harrell Group, LLC, says, “Since discovering NAWR, I've been increasingly impressed with the quality of content, caliber of women entrepreneurs and professionals and the commitment to excellence Sylvia and NAWR have consistently presented. I personally am a part of several wonderful online women business networks, but often find myself coming to NAWR when I'm in need of a little "push" and some thought provoking insight from seasoned entrepreneurs. I have met many wonderful women entrepreneurs on this network that further challenge me and inspire me to reach higher.”

In addition, NAWR was recently selected by Black Enterprise as, “10 Ning Networks You Need to Know,”   http://tinyurl.com/39tmbq7

Revolution 7:  Get organized

It is essential that you start your day with a ‘to do’ list.  It doesn’t matter if your business is small or if you run a large corporation, having a daily plan will keep you on track in effectively running it.  Start your day by scheduling uninterrupted time to plan and create your list of tasks for that day, and rank your list in order of priority.  For example, if you have 10 tasks on your list, of those, how many do you need to complete?  Can you save the least important tasks for another time?

Please note: If you don't accomplish all the tasks from your ‘to do’ list, it doesn't mean you are having problems managing your time.  It simply means that you only have limited time per day to get everything done and you may be trying to accomplish more tasks than you have time in the day.

To manage and prioritize my time, I rely on Microsoft Outlook’s calendar and task manager to plan my personal and business schedule.  I then sync Microsoft Outlook to my Black Berry PDA.  This helps me to stay on task and set priorities for my daily activities.  Find what works for you and make it a daily habit to have a productive and organized day!

Last but not least…

If it’s not working, drop it quickly

Don’t waste your time or invest any unnecessary energy nursing something that isn’t working for your business.  Time = Money and in our current economic crisis, both are a very precious commodity that a small business can’t afford to gamble with.  Move on and don’t look back!

By incorporating these simple yet effective strategies into your plan, you can position your business for significant growth.  Here’s looking at a great 2011!

Getting through the holidays and beyond

Over the next two weeks, we’ll spend time with people we love, people who love us, and people who know how to push our best and worst buttons.
--Choose to be the best that you can be.
--Choose to remain strong and powerful, supportive, and non-judgmental.
--Choose to let go of patterns that keep you and others chained.
--Choose to go up the “referral curve” with close friends and family.
--Choose to match your actions, words, tone of voice, and facial expression to make the world a better place.
--Choose to keep your mouth shut (if what wants to come out isn’t nice).
--Choose to make a difference in each moment with each person.
--Choose wisely now (not after some list of criteria is met).
--Choose to try again (when you make the wrong choice).
--Choose to believe that next year will be better because you will make it that way.
--Choose to be conscious.
--Choose to choose.
If we choose to do this with the very people we love, with the people who love us, and with the people who know how to push our best and worst buttons, then choosing to do it with everyone else will be easy.
Choose to notice how your choices create a ripple through your world; through the world.

Hello everyone,

There is a new online market place created to target buyers of unique goods and products. The Black Vendors Market provides shops that feature businesses that sell afrocentric gifts, bath and body products, candles, apparel, and accessories and jewelry.

What makes this shop so different from the rest is it's purpose.  Afro Puffs and Ponytails, Inc, a non profit organization for AfricanAmerican/Black girls is planning a major festival for our girls in the summer of 2012! In an effort to raise money, we have created the Black Vendors Market to help promote the very vendors or businesses that we hope to have as vendors or sponsors during this wonderful event.  By bringing all of the possible vendors to one site, charging a small fee for the shops, we will be able to raise funds to offset the cost of this fabulous festival!

Currently, the Black Vendors Market is number one on the Top 100 Sista Sites, we are listed with Black Refer, and Afro Puffs and Ponytails, Inc. advertises the site continously. Keep in mind that Afro Puffs and Ponytails, Inc. is averaging about 26,000 pageviews a month and we have over 700 fans on our Facebook page which was just created a couple of months ago.

If you want to get your business noticed without paying another advertising fee, Submit your business into the Vendors Directory on the Black Vendors Market website!

You can also consider advertising by becoming a supporter for Afro Puffs and Ponytails, Inc. Your support of our efforts will help your business receive widespread recognition from our  many regular visitors!

Click here to visit the Black Vendors Market and enter your business into our Vendors Directory.
