Conducting surveys is a powerful tool for businesses, colleges, hospitals and any other entity that interacts with people. Websites use surveys to grasp the perception of visitors. Private schools use surveys to understand the needs and expectations of their students' parents. Magazines use surveys to measure their readers' loyalty and tastes. When designed properly, a survey can yield invaluable data. But, creating successful surveys requires an understanding of how people think, absorb information, process data and communicate. Below, you'll learn 4 tips for creating general surveys that can make the information you gather more valuable.Tip #1: Choose Words CarefullyWords communicate precise meanings. However, we often take for granted that others will infer our meaning even when we use words incorrectly. When creating a survey, it's imperative that you use precise language. For example, a question about employees' feelings toward a certain office protocol may use "might," "can," or "may" interchangeably. But, these words can imply different meanings to people. Choose the words you include in survey questions carefully.Tip #2: Eliminate Grey Area For True/False QuestionsUsing true/false questions can yield interesting data. But, that data may not be useful if the questions are crafted poorly. The key to using true/false questions is to eliminate any grey area. That is, the answer to a question must be either true or false for the answer to have any meaning. There should be no exceptions.Tip #3: Use Uniformity In Number ScalesNumber scales should be a part of most general surveys. They force the respondent to think clearly about their choice. Often, a person's instinctive feeling will prompt them to answer. But, they'll hesitate before making their selection. When you use number scales throughout your surveys, make sure the scales are the same for each of the questions. For example, if you're going to use a scale from 1 to 5, keep the scale uniform for the entire survey. Plus, if 5 reflects a "positive" choice (attractive, robust, flexible, etc.), keep 5 reserved for positive responses throughout. Uniformity is crucial for number scales to be effective.Tip #4: Open-Ended Multiple ChoiceMultiple choice questions come in different flavors. If you're using closed multiple choice questions (that is, those without an "Other" option), make sure that the questions you're asking can be answered resolutely with one of the choices you've provided. In other words, the answers should address every possibility.Open-ended multiple choice questions can provide insight that may be otherwise missed. For example, if you're asking customers how they first heard about your business, provide options such as friend or family, website, newspaper advertising and radio ads. But, also allow for the possibility that your customer may have discovered your business through another channel. Provide an "Other" option and ask them to explain. Their response may make you aware of other marketing possibilities for your business.Leveraging Variety For Survey SuccessEffective surveys use a variety of different question types to obtain valuable information. Using a blend of multiple choice, true/false and number scaled questions can encourage a broad spectrum of useful data. Your surveys should include other question types, as well. Demographic questions, constant sum questions and rating scales can all be employed to extract a diverse collection of data. By contrast, using any question type exclusively will usually yield information that isn't well-defined and therefore, of negligible value.Well-designed surveys require an appreciation for the psychology of how people process information and communicate feedback. Anyone can throw together a mishmash of questions and call it a survey. But, planning a survey that successfully compels useful information that can be leveraged is a discipline that comes from experience, analysis and expert advice.

Constantly, I watch a lot of people consistently take, take, take, and they never give anything back to anyone or anything. Yet, their life seems to be easy breezy and pretty much worry free. Then, there are those, who consistently feel like they are sacrificing due to circumstances that they can not avoid. At some point in time, I am sure many of us have had to make decisions to keep something or let it go in order to move onto the next level. However, some of us may be giving up more than we realize, which leads us into martyrdom. It’s very typical to sacrifice eating out daily or getting your nails done weekly in order to save an extra buck or two for gas. It’s a little sacrifice of our personal reward system, but it’s nothing to cause any uproar. Uproar should be caused when you find yourself living with a totally capable, working adult who is not sacrificing anything to help you with finances or chores within your household. You are left to return all of your items to the store or pawn all of your electronic goods on a constant basis to survive because you feel it’s a small part of sacrifice for your household. I know all about survival, but in this situation, you are treading deathly in martyrdom. It’s sickening to watch so many people living with others who do not find a problem with you returning your clothes while they style out in their never returned outfit. You shouldn’t have to wear rags to survive and keep fully capable adults comfortable at the same time. We need to make sure that we surround ourselves with responsible and considerate individuals. Individuals refer to lovers, siblings, parents, and friends. Do not let others take advantage of your ability to sacrifice during tight times and push you into martyrdom.I’m not saying go home and yell,” Start helping me sacrifice around here!!” However, I believe it’s best if you go home and talk to those you love about the weight that they are not carrying. If you guys can communicate clearly and take equal responsibility in finances and chores, you can avoid living in sacrificial mode period and live an abundant life as we should. If communication seems inevitable with them, then it’s very clear that you should review your options and status very closely.Much love and success!Nikki

Once upon a time, I lived a vicarious life. I had always had my own hopes, dreams, and activities, but I somehow got caught up in a new way of life. You really can't see it coming until it has already overtaken you mentally. My fiance' was involved in many different activities back in the day, and healways let me take part without any objections. His life just seemed muchmore exciting!! I became so caught up in what he was doing that it feltlike I , too, was living this exciting life at the same time without anyeffort. When our relationship came to a brief halt, my world fell apartbecause I realized that I did not really have a "life".My world went from Never ending Sunshine to an Abyss of Darkness within 72hours. All of my friends were his friends; my activities were actually hisactivities, etc. The amazing part is he never put a gun to my head and toldme to do any of these things. I claimed these things as extensions ofmyself without actually owning the extensions. So, you know how the storywent after that... I sat at home too depressed to do something about it, andI was mad as hell. I realized a bit too late that I had been living life onthe sidelines, yelling at everyone else to work hard, and reaping therewards. Oops! Perhaps, you can identify if you are living vicariouslybefore your life source is cut away, and you're left to deal with trying tolight your own life source in the midst of pain. There are many people who live vicariously and never have to deal with anyissues of being cutoff for a very long period of time. The biggest examplesof those that lead vicarious lifestyles are parents that force theirchildren to pursue every avenue that they may have not succeeded in theirchildhood and place unnecessary pressure upon their children. When thechildren reach a level or the age of maturity, many cut their parents lifesource and begin living their own lives. This is a tragic moment where manyparents turn to drinking, bitter behavior, or just enter a deep depression. It's the same way in long term relationships where you are awfully close tosomeone and you benefit from their life without having to put forth the sameeffort as they are. You get bitter whenever they don't succeed because thatmeans you don't succeed. It's a horrible cycle that can go on as long as therelationship with the life source exists or until they cut you off.By living vicariously, you place the responsibility of your life andemotions on a day to day basis upon the shoulders of other people. That issimply not a fair trade off. You can not make someone else responsible forwhat you are not attempting to do for yourself. The other people in yourlife will feel the pressure, and they will realize at some point that theymay not possibly be able to keep you happy.Let's try these steps to branch out and claim your own plot in life:* Stop Latching onto your loved one or friend's life as your own.* Little by little set aside time for you - Call it "ME TIME".* Discover YOU.o Who are you really?o What do you like to do for fun?o What types of books, movies, or music do you like?o What are your hopes, dreams, and wishes?* Start enjoying your own gifts and talents that you discovered.* Take life day by day.Understand that the world is not expecting you to be an overnight success, but if you are consistent in your efforts, you will be rewarded with a newlease on life and fulfillment. Think about it - You have so much more toshare that you are now an individual and not an entity sucking the life outof everyone else. You'll avoid having to pay for the consequence of nothaving your own life if and when the light source is extinguished. Beconsistent and much success!!Much Love,Nikki

Call to Action: Get Moving in Your Life

Have you ever dreamed up the best business or money-making idea, but it never seemed to get off the ground? I’m not speaking about the fact that it wasn’t a success. I am talking about if you never put your idea into action!! Or, you have a weightloss goal of 40 lbs in six months only to find that six months have passed with a gain of 20 lbs more? I’m guessing that is because you didn’t put your mind and body into action!! The dictionary’s first definition of action is listed below:ac•tion - 1. The state or process of acting or doing. The state or process of acting or doing!! If you sit on your bump for months and days after you first had your idea, then you are not in the state of action or doing!I’m sure you mentally go over the list of the following excuses as to why you do not execute the majority of your goals. The biggest problem is that the paralysis isn’t only limited to our financial sector of life, but it dominates in plenty of others as well. Please review how far analysis paralysis actually reaches out into our lives, hobbies, and goals.• I can’t start my business because I do not have enough money.• I think if I wait for better time then my business will be more successful.• I will start my diet when I get a raise, and I will be able to afford the healthy food.• I will take a vacation once I win the lottery. Those are only examples, but I am sure you can see that those statements are very limiting in our lives. They all present very valid reasons, but they can lead to paralysis. You never call yourself to action because you continue to wait for the perfect timing to move forward. Bill Gates of Microsoft fame has to be the Golden Boy of Action. He released several versions of Windows in their most complete format as possible, and he continued to tweak them long after release. Why do you think there are so many Service Packs and updated platforms (95,98,ME,XP, & Vista) to date. I believe it’s because Mr. Gates had not released his “perfect” visionary form of Windows. I honestly thank Bill for going forward with his idea instead of waiting for the “perfect” time or finished product. If he had waited, our first working version of Windows may only be coming onto the market in 2014. Who knows? If you have an idea, a desire to have a better body, or the need to take a vacation, then I believe you should act now!!1. Lay claim to your idea, goals, and dreamsa. I want to start a small café in my neighborhoodb. I want to lose 40 lbs before my birthday.c. I want to take my family to Disneyland.2. Plan, Plan, Plan & Act, Act, Act.a. I am writing a business plan for my café businessb. I am attending workout class at the YMCA every other day.c. I am saving an extra $60 per week for our vacation.3. Remain consistent through the good times and the bad times.a. Even though I have been denied twice for a biz loan, I will continue to submit my business plan and loan apps for review.b. I’ve lost 23 lbs before I hit a plateau two weeks ago, but I have not missed a workout or ate fast food.c. I had to use $80 from our vacation fund for a family emergency, but we are still going to Disneyland.4. Enjoy your accomplishments!a. My loan was approved, and my café will open for business next month.b. I’ve lost 60 lbs, and I’ve ran my first 2k race last week.c. We enjoyed our trip to Disneyland, and we are making plans for our next vacation.Stop limiting yourself and start living the life that you deserve! Begin claiming good things and speak them into reality for yourself. Once you plan and take action, you will see how things manifest over time because you remained consistent. Enjoy yourself, your life, & your loved ones because you only have one shot at this lifetime!!Much love,Nikki

Goodbye, Baggage Woes!

Goodbye, Baggage Woes!By Anna Lynn Sibal

What can probably be considered as the most common of any traveler’s woes most likely has something to do with his baggage. We always hear stories of people getting hit on the head by luggage falling out of overhead compartments on a particularly turbulent flight, or of the security line being held up by airline passengers who insist that the gigantic suitcase they have brought with them should pass as carry-on luggage instead of just checking them in. And then we have stories of lost luggage, wherein the hapless passenger finds that his suitcases have flown to Taiwan instead of coming with him to Thailand.Losing luggage, among other baggage problems, is a fact in the life of a traveler. Thankfully, such problems can be avoided with a few simple precautions to be taken before the flight. Here is how:1. If you can get away with traveling with only carry-on luggage with you, go for it. Airlines generally allow their passengers to bring two pieces of carry-on luggage with them, so bringing your bags with you to the cabin will save you the worry of losing your bags or having them stolen.2. If your bags are heavy, do not put them in the overhead bin. Luggage, even the lightweight ones, can cause serious injuries if they get loose and fall on someone’s head.3. Before you check in your bags, make sure that every piece of luggage you are checking in has a label that has your name and address on it. Better yet, put another label on the inside of the bag, as well as a copy of your itinerary. Do the same for your carry-on bags in the event that you need to check them in after all.4. Make your luggage as unique as you can make them so the other passengers will not confuse your luggage with their own and pick them up. You can do this by putting colorful tags or stickers.5. Never check in your valuable items such as money, jewelry, laptop and electronic files. Put them in your carry-on luggage.6. Make sure that airline tag on your checked-in luggage is correct. The airline tag should match the airport where you are flying to.7. If you have lost your bags, report the loss immediately. Approach the baggage agents on duty as soon as you discover that your bags did not turn up at the airport you flew in.8. Do not throw away the stub from your checked-in bags. In case you do lose your bag, the stub will help airline authorities to trace your bags.9. Always anticipate the fact that you may lose your luggage on your flight. It’s a simple application of Murphy’s Law. Thus, pack your bags in such a way that the loss of one bag will not cripple you. Pack at least one set of clothing in your carry-on bag.10. Bear in mind the security regulations of the airline you are flying in when packing your bags. Leave prohibited items behind, such as knives, cutters and other hazardous objects. If you must bring such items, see if your airline can let you check them in.

Las Vegas Strip Hotels

Las Vegas Strip Hotels

In one sense, Las Vegas doesn’t have an abundance of “attractions” like museums, theme parks, or historic statues, but in another sense the entire city is one attraction after another. Of course the famous Las Vegas Strip is the center of the show, featuring most of the world’s largest hotels bunched together up and down a 4-mile strip of Las Vegas Boulevard South.About two-dozen huge hotels are on the Strip, but not all of them could be considered “attractions.” Below is a list of the highlights on the Las Vegas Strip, from north to south.Stratosphere TowerThe tallest free-standing structure in the state looms over the Stratosphere Casino below. It’s 1,149 ft (350 m) tall and there are three thrill-rides at the top, although the famous roller coaster is closed to make way for the new ones. These claim to be the highest three thrill rides in the world, and no one seems to be arguing.Circus CircusThis older hotel has a big-top theme and circus acts going all day. There are midway booths and arcade games to keep the kids busy, which makes this one of the more popular place for families.Fashion Show MallThis upscale mall isn’t anything terribly special, but it’s nice to know there is a place to spend all that money you just won.Treasure Island HotelThis pirate-themed hotel has a frequent show out front that has been clogging the sidewalk for a decade now. It’s worth a look if you are passing by.MirageThis sister hotel of the Treasure Island has a “volcano,” which erupts on regular intervals out front. It doesn’t look anything like real lava, but it’s a huge production and worth seeing once.Venetian ResortThis new hotel has a Venice theme with gondolas and everything.Caesar’s PalaceThis stalwart hotel and casino is still one of the nicest in town. Its Roman theme is everywhere, including in its impressive Forum Shops, which is a very high-end retail and restaurant district just off the main casinos.BellagioThis art-themed hotel is one of the nicest and most expensive in the city. There is an acclaimed art gallery, but the entire thing is worth a look inside.Paris Las VegasThis hotel with an Eiffel Tower out front is hard to miss, and the Paris theme continues inside so it’s another one to check out when you are passing by.Monte Carlo HotelThis high-end place has a similar appeal to the Bellagio. It’s gorgeous inside and worth a visit on your trip down the Strip.New York, New York HotelThis hotel obviously has a New York theme, with an Empire State Building, Chysler Building, and Statue of Liberty out front, but there is also a roller coaster running through it all, which can be a thrilling way to see it all within a minute or so.MGM Grand HotelThis place is impressive for its size, among other things. It’s currently the largest hotel in the world with almost 7,000 rooms.Excalibur HotelThis King Arthur-themed hotel still manages to stand out on the Las Vegas Strip. It’s a bit kitchy, but many people really get a charge out of the décor.LuxorThe pyramid-shaped hotel can has a Sphinx guarding the front, and what they claim to be the brightest beam of light in the world shooting out the center of the pyramid at night. The beam is interesting, but it’s not really all that special seeing it in person.

Recently I was visiting automotive websites. Blacks in America spend over $32 Billion dollars a year on cars (see www.targetmarketnews.com). It would stand to reason, with all that's going on in our society that their websites would reflect that.I was pleasantly impressed with the top 3 auto makers (Ford, GM, and Toyota).
