Soap Opera Radio Contest

Are you a fan of the soap opera, Days of Our Lives?  If so, which character is your favorite?

I have been given the opportunity to interview one of the actors from the long-running soap opera, Days of Our Lives. If you are, here’s your chance to be a part of the upcoming show, The Boomer Beat, on WCOM Radio.

Please let me know who you would be interested in hearing on my radio show and what question(s) you would ask.  If that actor (or actress) is chosen, I will read YOUR questions(s) on the air and identify you as the person who asked the question.  If more than one person chooses the same actor/actress, I will read their question(s) as well.

The Days cast members are  promoting the iconic soap opera’s 45th anniversary and accompanying book, “Days of our Lives 45 Years: A Celebration in Photos.”  Days has the distinction of dedicating many of its storylines to a mature audience and focusing on characters who are grandparents, matriarchs and patriarchs, and who have been on the show since or near the beginning, including John Aniston, Louise Sorel, Suzanne Rogers, Peggy McCay, Joseph Mascolo, and real-life couple Susan and Bill Hayes.

The deadline for submission is Friday, Feb. 18 at 5pm.  Feel free to post your responses here or you can send your suggestion to:  beverly@talk2bev.com.   The listener will be invited to the station to ask their questions on their air.  If you can’t make it, I will read your questions during the interview and identify you as the person who asked the questions.  You will also receive an autographed copy of the newly released book, “Days of our Lives 45 Years: A Celebration in Photos.”

The winner will be notified by email.

After I review the videos I will be choosing one winner each month. Each winner should submit another video letting us know how they enjoyed their gift of celebrating life. Our Path to Greatness

If it is true that what we love is our path to greatness – then it is also true that everyone who is working for barely makes do wages or less doesn’t have to. It also means that people who feel trapped in well paying jobs don’t need to. The question now is: How do we transform what we love into cash.I once heard a story of a man who had an infinity for fixing small electrical things. Radios, mixers, sewing machines; whatever – he could fix it. He never had any formal training in electronic or electrical repair. It was just something he instinctively knew how to do. Friends and family members often brought things to him to repair. Eventually his wife got sick of all of the money he was spending on tools and repair parts and him not making any money for his efforts. Finally he decided to rent a small room so he could continue to indulge in his love; but keep peace in his home. So to pay for his work space, he started charging people a nominal fee to do their repairs. As fate would have it, a time came he got laid off from his job and his wife didn’t make enough to support them. So, he began to call to check on a few offers he had received from customers to teach, to be on call to properly set up major appliances etc. Within a month he was making more money than he had ever made at his job.The answer to the questions: How do we transform what we love into cash is: For some people, transforming what you love to do into cash is a matter of making some decision and following through on them. For some it will take a business plan, investors . . . . Still others will simply stumble into their gift. The key however is to take the time to regularly work at that which brings you joy and a sense of fulfillment.Armed with this information, I finally put aside all of my reasons, excuses, meanderings … and dove into one of my favorite activities. At first it was awkward and felt strange – like I had never made a good living sewing before. As I moved forward and started on my second piece it began to feel good. Wonderful memories of past accomplishments began to appear in the forefront of my mind one by one. As I worked on my third piece, I began to relive the emotions that made me decide to become a seamstress in the first place.I’ll keep you posted on the outcome.

SUCCESS MATTERS

I once heard it said that success has a myriad of meanings. Success is something that each person must define for themselves based on what their personal, financial, educational. . . goals are. Hence we can be perfectly successful as parents while being abject failures aesthetically.Personally I've achieved a measure of success with respect to entrepreneurship several times. Now that I'm seriously preparing for my twilight years and introspectively looking at those years that have gone before me. I realize more than ever that those who have stayed the course of their goals, in spite of all of the obstacles they've come face to face with, are people who have achieved success in more areas of life than "average" people can imagine. For success breeds success while complacency breeds futility.Looking at models of the type of success I aspire to achieve, I know that age, circumstances, education or lack thereof . . . are only legitimate reasons if we allow them to be. Marianne Williamson said it best:Our Greatest Fear - Marianne WilliamsonOur greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us.We ask ourselves,Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?Actually, who are you not to be?You are a child of God.Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.It is not just in some, it is in everyone. And, as we let our own light shine,we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.Let us take courage, move forward in life confidently. Let us purposely and diligently work toward living the lives of our dreams. Let us be the embodiment of the success we desire.Peace & blessings to you and everyone who loves you.

The Purple Rose tell of a woman’s journey as she replaces self-doubt, low esteem, and anxiety with confidence, optimism, and enthusiasm utilizing poetry, prayer, and praise as tools for restoration.
