Day 10

Ok ladies, it's Monday! The beginning of a brand new week. Winter is winding down. Valentine's is over, so now you have no more excuses to gorge on chocolate and other ISH that is not good for you. Whether you were eating it because someone bought it for you, or because you bought it for yourself. Put it down, walk away.Today is the first day in the rest of your life. Today is the day when change begins. To borrow Barack's phrase, CHANGE:YES WE CAN!!!The winter blues are winding down and spring is ahead of you. So like the seasons, let's change for the better. So my question to you is what have you done today, to make you a better you? In every realm of your life spiritually, financially, socially, professionally, physically? No more excuses, today is the first day, the first step in that journey. A bitch buster is on top of her game, in every facet of her life. Because true revenge is being successful. So what have you been procrastinating about? What do you need to do to be on top of your game. You want to lost the weight, then get up off your behind and exercise. Leave that red velvet cake alone. This is not rocket science, you know what you need to do. GO UP AND GO OUT THERE AND DO IT.Your finances are upside down, sit down and make a list of every bill you owe. Create a plan to pay them off, call your creditors set up an automatic payment plan. Place it somewhere where you will see daily. Cut all those credit cards up (OK that may be to drastic for some of you, at least take them out of your wallet). If you want something pay cash for it. Each week make a vow to save some money. I don't care if it is $5, but every week save $5 and put it in a separate account that you have no access to. It is not about the amount you save, but getting in the habit of doing it. It take 21 days to form a new habit. Discipline yourself. You want to meet someone, well you won't meet them in your house. Go out there and do the dam thing. Join a professional organization, Kiwanis, Rotary, Toastmasters, Black Business Meet up. Get out of your comfort zone and do something new. If you keep doing what you always did, then you will keep getting what you always got (i.e. the club is not the spot, leave Pookey, Rayray and Buster them alone).Read a book ( the Bible is a good one) :). Learn a skill, go to your local college and sign up for a class, take an online class. Do something that will expand you and cause you to grow. The only way to grow is to learn something new everyday. That is rule six in the bitch busting arsenal... be a DAAG: DEVELOP, ASPIRE ACHIEVE, GROW. Because sometimes you don't have to Bust that bitch you can just outshine her!

Do you know what an alternator does for your vehicle? Do you know where the alternator is located on your vehicle? I would like to cover one of the five overlooked parts of the car. Most people don't know there is an alternator on their car. When they hear the name for the first time, it's when their vehicle won't start. This is known as the charging system. The charging system consist of the alternator, battery, wiring, and drive belt. Your alternator can come with an internal or external voltage regulator. This will depend on your year, make, and model of your vehicle. The alternators responsibility is to generate electricity to recharge the battery, run the fuel pump, injectors, ignition system, power the vehicle's lights, and other electrical powered accessories. The alternator is under a substantial load that creates a lot of internal heat. This heat can burn a diode out. The diode helps to convert alternating current to direct current. Also, the heat can damage the rotor and stator windings, brush connections, and wiring leads. These are the inner working or parts of the alternator. Most alternators fail electronically before they wear out the inner parts. Alternators can fail when they are subjected to road splash that contains salt water or debris. It's important to keep your splash guards in place, on your vehicles. If the charging system fails for any reason or does not produce enough power to meet all of the vehicle's electrical demands, the battery will run down. Once the battery voltage drops below a certain threshold, certain system in your vehicle may stop working. Charging system problems can be caused by electrical faults in the alternator or voltage regulator, poor wiring connections at the battery or alternator, or a slipping drive belt.To help your alternator, check the battey for corrosion. If corrosion is present, pour a can of coke on the battey terminals. During your oil change service, have the alternator, battery, and belt checked. Remember, keep your under-car splash guard in place. There isn't a specific failure rate on an alternator. It can go out at anytime. Watch your add-on accessories. The more the alternator has to work, the more strain on the battery and alternator.Until next time, happy motoring

A Prescription for What Ails Sisters

Sisters, if you are stressed out, your self-confidence has taken a vacation and you are not where you want to be in life, just remember that our lives are a series of ebbs and flows. We, as Black women, must continue to do 3 things:1. Believe that we are worth "it" whatever "it" is for you. "It" could be a successful business, successful romantic relationship, our dream home, our dream career, good health, more money than we know what to do with - the list is endless.2. Stop being afraid or too proud to ask for help. All you have to do is ask. More people will say "yes" than those who will say "no." Those who say "no" are not meant to be a part of your success.3. Stop worrying. Ten years ago I heard author Iyanla Vanzant speak in Atlanta and I took shorthand (yea, I'm that old) notes during her talk; still have the notes and you know what she said about worrying? Do you remember as a kid in school when they told us in case our clothes catch on fire, we are to stop, drop, and roll? Well, whatever is worrying you (which manifests itself as low self-confidence) stop worrying, drop trying to figure it out or work it out and roll it into God's hands. This is Dr. Carmin's prescription for what ails me and my sisters.Carmin Wharton is a home-based business expert and the founder of e-BlackWomenNetwork.com, a membership community designed to take businesses owned by women of color from start up to prosperity. Carmin's mission is to help women earn what they're worth and make it big in their home-based business on their own terms.

Unexpecting the Expected

The best things in life are unexpected - because there were no expectationsby Sophia BaileyOkay so the weekend of romance has come and gone, whether it was the best ever or one of the worst depends on what you expected to happen.Looking back through the years I think the simplest gestures made me happiest, especially when unexpected . If I’ve been disappointed, something was said or done in a way that I didn’t expect. How many times have you heard the words or had the thought?‘I thought he would have made more of an effort’‘I thought she would have appreciated it’‘I thought they would have understood what I meant’When we think or expect someone to say or do something in one way, we limit their ability to surprise us with another possibility and we can take their actions as hurtful. Most people act in a way that they think is of benefit to both of you. They have the best intentions, think they are right and expect everyone to see things their way. We all do it so this is nothing new but we rarely understand what the other person must have been thinking to have them feel what they did to us was ok.When something disappoints you ask yourself, what did I expect to happen?Do I have a justified reason to expect that outcome from that person? Is that who they are? If not, why am I upset?Expecting a particular outcome from someone else can stop us from understanding their intentions and seeing them as they truly are.If you followed the suggestion in my last newsletter, I hope you enjoyed pampering yourself and reading over your valentines list of great things about you.I ended up spending time with my girls last night, my perfect valentines :-) and reading a few of the brilliant blogs posted by PPSN members in the last few weeks.Whether you were out with someone new , have just said goodbye to someone old, or you want a way to pamper the special person that has always been in your life, I know you will find something of value in the articles below.Sending Continuous LoveSophia XxHow To Know You Have Met Your Ideal PersonPosted by ROGER MILLARHow do you know you have met your ideal mate? The speed with which you get over your ex depends on how willing you are to let go of that old relationship.* The first step to your recovery is to acknowledge that the relationship is over. Once you have accepted this, you make space in your mind to move on, thereby giving you peace of mind to find a new relationship.* Yes, you feel loss when the relationship ends and you will need time to grieve. You can make this process short by crying, getting rid of the things that remind you of the person, talking about it and letting go of any anger you feel towards your ex. This will lessen or completely eliminate any negative emotions and stop you feeling like a victim. The grieving process creates space in your life for what you really want... DAY NINE:

February 14: the day that strikes fear in the heart of every single person. The pressure starts to mount after New Years Eve. The countdown begins, six weeks to get a date. You can do this, you tell yourself, six weeks is a long time, you will find a date, you will not be alone THIS Valentine' s day.You sit and you devise a plan. You call all your coupled friends, you let them hook you up. You start going to church again hoping to find a good Christian man or woman. That does not pan out so you say forget that, you hit the clubs, but every buster and pigeon seems to be on the prowl...looking for you. No luck; so you try all the online sites, anyone with a pulse and a job you start to talk to. You try to convince yourself that he or she has potential, even though you know deep down in your heart that they are just triflin and not up to your standards. Anything so you wont be alone on February 14th.WHY...what is wrong with being alone. Is singleness a disease that no one wants? Alone is good. You get to to do whatever the hell you want, whenever you want... anytime ,any place. Walk around the house naked, eat ice cream in bed. You are the master of your domain. The king or queen of your world. Why is it that everyone else who is with someone (and in a majority of the cases miserable) tries to guilt you into making your one a twosome.Do we really appreciate our singleness? Do we understand the purpose for it? It is the period in your life where you get to be 100% selfish and focused on no one else but you. Get your education on, excel in your career, get over the ISH from your childhood, learn to love and appreciate you and everything that makes you ... YOU. Singleness the period in your life where you discover the good, the bad and the ugly about yourself. And guess what, it is all good. Deal with your issues, refine your game, learn your non-negotiables, set your standards. Become YOU, a whole individual. So before you let the pressures of this one day, cause you to abort the journey of your singleness. Think about it, it is better to be alone and content, than be with someone and miserable. So tomorrow celebrate the greatest love of your life. YOU!!!. Take yourself out to the best restaurant you can afford, go to the spa or go on that weekend trip that you wanted to go on forever. Don't listen to what those coupled or married people are telling you.. its all lies..because if it wasn't, the divorce rate would not be what it is.Yes you want someone special to share your life with, but until you find someone worthy of you.. make sure you are worthy of yourself. That is rule five in the bitch busting arsenal never allow anyone else to define or determine your worth. Because there are bitches out there waiting and preying, looking for the unsuspecting or the one who has not determined his or her worth. The one who has not learned to love themselves but wants love and validation so bad that they are willing to do and put up with anything to get it. Yes those bitches are out there..and those are the bitches you need to bust.To my favorite couple: Pinky and my favorite diva..Have a happy valentine day.....--Posted By bustabitch to BUSTABITCH: at 2/13/2009 04:40:00 PM

To get mineral makeup to accentuate your beauty, pick a shade of mineral makeup that matches your skin tone. With mineral makeup, you’re guaranteed a match because you have the ability to blend shades in order to get your perfect shade.
Vary your application technique based on the amount of coverage you want. Mineral makeup is very buildable. You can go from sheer cover to full coverage just by altering the way in which you apply your makeup. For full coverage, apply mineral makeup with a kabuki brush.
If you’re looking for a sheerer look, try using a skunk brush. Regardless of what brush you use, always apply your mineral makeup in thin layers. If you want more coverage, add more layers, and if you want lighter coverage, keep layers to a minimum.Until next time...Remember: Less is more.

Ladies, I am going to jump right into it this go round. Why are family members so dependent on others to the point where the other family member wants to bounce and leave them all! Okay, here is the situation and please feel free to give me your opinion in the comments. You have had a rough childhood with two parents being alcoholics. Arguing, fighting, physical fights, and a lot of verbal abuse. Now that you are a grown woman with your own home and family, you have one parent left, your mother. She has not let the alcohol go and has had drama with a new guy ever since your father died. The fighting is extremely worse than with your original parents. Cops are now involved on a regular basis. Years pass and you and your siblings are just leaving the situation alone because you all are just freaking tired of it, fed up, and are dealing with your own issues. Now, your mother gets locked up! In this economy, trying to makes ends meet, you now have to come up with 1k to bail her out. So you and your siblings get the money together with the help of only 4 other family members, that's it. No one else wants to help because they know that she will not pay them back and she is going to go back to him. She gets out the same night. You make a deal with the bail bondsman for payments on the remaining amount of the bail that your mother is responsible for. She doesn't work, she only collects unemployment and the boyfriend doesn't help either, on top of all that, she still has a drinking problem. She makes two payments and here comes all of lies because the bail bondsman is calling you now for the money. Four months pass and now you get a call that you are getting sued for the full bail amount of 23k. Scrambling around again, your siblings do not help. Your brother doesn't want to help because he did a day in jail already fighting the boyfriend and your sister doesn't want to help because she is putting her bills first and doesn't have the extra money. Now its up to you again, even though you go to school, work, run three businesses on the side, manage your home, and plot and plan to become successful to get out of your debt and live your dreams. Nobody cares about what you have to do. But that is your mother, if you don't pay the rest of the bail, she is going to jail for 30 days, a 52 year old alcoholic mother going to jail. So what do you do? You get the worst thing you can ever do, payday loans. Now you have 3 outstanding to pay her bail. She said she is going to pay you back when she gets her tax return in two weeks, but you need that money now, because you are traveling next week for business. You need that money now because you put some bills on hold in order to save her ass. Here is when you really get pissed off. After you paid this $600, she calls you tipsy saying thank you and she is going to pay you back and all this and that, but how is she drinking with no money? Then she calls you back from the bar! What the hell are you doing at the bar when you still owe the bail bondsman $200 that no one else will pay. Now you feel as though you should have let her sit in jail. But its all good though because you are going to your business trip anyway and are going to make it happen when you get out there. You are determined to get those business deals and contracts! Inside, you feel betrayed, and they always say your family is your worst enemy. They pull you down just like a crab in a bucket. I hate the crab in a bucket syndrome with a passion, it has held back so many of our black people to this day because of this lazy, jealous, dependent mentality. They don't care that you have three conference calls, homework, and a tshirt to finish before you go to sleep, they got to come over and use your internet. They don't care what business meetings you have set up for the day, they just want to know when you are going to be free so you can pick them up from work. Do any of you guys feel pulled like this from your family? Here you are trying to do you and get this paper and here comes the drama and bullshit. You are not on that type time this year, this year is your year, you are going to do it this year. You got plans dammit, how come they don't understand that. Its to the point where you have to cut everybody off. Don't depend on me for a thing anymore, this is not the same Reeta. They say that people change when they get money, well your damn right if you have ignorance and selfish people trying to keep you down and are not there for you at all when you need them. UUUGGGHHH. Okay, just had to vent that out because my anger has affected my work and I cannot let that happen when I am soo close. Thanks for reading and I look forward to your comments.-S

Beauty Tip Of The Week

This begins our four week series called, "Choosing Makeup for Your Skin Tone". The skin tone that concerns alot of women......Dark Skin Tones.Dark Skin TonesThe skin tones of some Africans, African Americans, Brazilians, Carribeans/West Indians, Latinos, Afro Latinos are characterized as 'Black skin' or 'Dark skin'. Dark skin varies in tone from light to dark. The natural tone of the skin calls for colors that are deep in pigment and are not ashy and pale in color. For example, darker skins should stay away from taupes, light pinks, and peaches on the eyes. Better choices of colors will be golds, soft browns, chocalates, darker pinks and greens. For lips, darker skins usually have dark lips, so lips look great in burgundies, wines, deep reds, dark browns, etc. For blush, some dark skinned women love to wear brown, bronzey, and very dark burgundy blush colors. They should stay away from those colors on the cheeks. Those colors can tend to look a little 'muddy' or dirty on the skin. I would suggest using dark pink and plum colored blush. These are all suggestions. Feel free to use what you think looks best on you. Listed below are some suggestions of Illusions products for Dark skin tones:Eyes:Brass & Radiant Bronze Eye DustCoconut, Carnival, Rapture, & Spanish Moss EyeshadowLips:Berry Sexy & Matador lipsticksMahogany(Cinematic Faves collection) & Khadijah (Young Hollywood collection) Lustre LipglossesBlush:Hibiscus, Rosette
