Debt that has been sold is no longer your debt. It now belongs to the company that bought it. They only way they get paid is by ATTEMPTING to collect it. Just review every letter that is sent to you by a DEBT collector. It states that "this is an ATTEMPT to collect a debt.

THIRD PARTY DEBT IS NOT REAL DEBT. In this country, we do not have enough regulation to protect consumers. Beforeyou go filing bankrupt, which I do not suggest you do, decide if you arereally in DEBT. This image has been created in your mind.

Some may say that the greatest perk to being a freelancer is the freedom from the typical 9-5 hours. You get to wake up at anytime you want. If you want to start doing work at midnight you can because there is no one else to tell you otherwise. My question is how do you deal with talking time off without feeling guilty?

I recently went out of town for the weekend and contemplated on taking my work with me. I knew that my travel time would be long and maybe I could get some work done. At the last minute, I decided to leave my work at home and took two books, sudoku puzzles, and my blogging journal (just in case and idea pop into my head) to keep me busy. I refrained from checking in on my social networking profiles except for a few tweets. I didn’t even check my email from blackberry. I was on a mini vacation and wanted to enjoy my time away. I feel and know that Power lies in women who have the ability to even rebuke evil even if it means harm to them. In other situations, women seek to overpower injustice in order to better human-kind. Throughout History, women have stepped up as protectors, providers, and teachers and used their femininity and masculinity powers to ‘Make It Happen.’ This article talks about my personal views on the powerfulness of women.I will start off with Ruth’s story has written in the Old Testament:However, Ruth refuses, insisting upon remaining with Naomi, declaring one of the most famous commitments in the Holy Scriptures:“Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.”- Ruth 1:16, 17It is an interesting story that not mention a lot, again seeking to diminish the power of women. The fidelity of a Moabite widowed woman (Ruth) for the widowed Mother-In-Law, (Naomi). In today’s time, this term can be referred to as a ‘sexual monogamy.’ Ruth stood up for courage when women were considered as property. If a husband dies, the wife becomes property of his brother or son. Ruth however fought for ‘freedom’ and sought to stay with Naomi for life. She became one our first female sheros. In my own voyage as a woman, I’m empowered to be the women whom I seek to be.I studied the lives and work of the following women – Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Ida B. Wells, Josephine Baker, Billie Holiday, Past Presidents of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority: Dorothy I. Heights and Mon Humphries Bailey, Congresswomen Shirley Chisholm, Barbara Jordon, Barbara Lee, Yolanda King, Frida Kahlo, Benazir Butto, S. Epatha Merkerson and my ultimate Shero, Angela Davis.Sheroes have dedicated their lives to provide opportunities for women and children to reach their goals. These women across the world are reaching their goals and potential through networking, teaching, mentoring to provide the necessary education to be successful.Women will always determine the course of events and forms of the human culture. Throughout history and in today’s time, women continue to govern equal rights for women to develop the many forms of human culture. They will love with their hearts and souls with the aid of their informative intellectual minds. The power of women will no longer be footnotes of footnotes. Time has changed (and been changing). Engaged women will always openly embrace the feminist power on global perspectives. They will continue to emerge into positions of influence. The work transitions are not just only for individuals, but for society as well. I will repeat my opening statement – ‘Women are the True Powers of the World.’

Many people limit themselves to doing only what they think they can do. When considering limits I envision boundaries that get in the way and keep you from moving forward. These obstacles show up in many ways and it helps to know what they are so that you can plan to get past them. They show up everywhere in business and may be in the form of barriers to entry, fear of public speaking, or a declining economy. Whatever distracts you from going as far as you can go is a limit. But the truth of the matter is that no limit can really stop you. In fact, I prefer to call them temporary roadblocks. Why? Because they are only in the way until you find the path that moves you past them. Yes, they can slow you down from time to time but the goal is to keep your destination in mind and use alternatives that will put you back on track.

Being in business requires you to always have a backup plan. It is like the GPS system in you car that alerts you ahead of time to take a different route when roadblocks are coming. Knowing in advance where the roadblocks are helps you maneuver successfully along the road but success depends upon your perspective.

There is a song whose lyrics I love called, The Sky is the Limit. It reminds me that as far as the sky is from the earth if you set goals on reaching that level, you will never be satisfied with limiting what you can accomplish. In my own experience, I have learned that each success is just a precursor to the many others that are up the road. When you remember that there is always more that you can do to create change, more people you can serve, more solutions you can provide, then you will stop limiting your potential. You must never stop at where you are today. If you keep reaching for higher peaks then, sure enough, one day you are bound to reach them.

Assignment:

You can either accept limits as permanent or resolve to find solutions to the challenges that get in your way. Think about what you have allowed to limit your success. How would the situation look if you changed your thoughts toward limits? What new ideas come to mind? What resources do you have to work with? What things will you need? See it. Write it. Be confident and do it.

My Mama Said, available June 2010

Our children are book smart and some are not so street smart, and even though we feel the need to give them great education, but we still have the streets and we need to educate them in that arena as well to not be a victim to the streets or society, by listening to mama. So praying this project will be successful! Although it’s nothing new what I am saying, but I don't see it in writing so I am giving you my version to hope it may help someone's child.

5 Startup Business Mistakes!

So you decide to startup a business. You have an idea. Let's say you want to be a carpenter. You print some brochures, some business cards, and take out an ad in the Yellow Pages. You pay $600 for a website and a domain name that tells everyone about your amazing credentials and experience. You distribute your fliers at a local grocery store. And then you wait. And wait. And wait...

Nothing happens. But, that's what everyone starting a business does, isn’t it? Print out some brochures, tell everyone how great you are, and wait for the money to roll in.

Stop right there. You have just made several of the top 5 startup mistakes entrepreneurs make when starting a business.

Startup Mistake # 1: First, being a "carpenter" is too general. There are a million carpenters in the world, but the only successful ones have something to concentrate on. Wood carving, house renovation, specialized pieces. Like the old saying goes, "Jack of all trades, master of none."

Startup Mistake # 2: If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. An idea is not a business plan, or a marketing plan, or even just a goal. It is simply an idea. Although the planning process may seem long and tedious now, it will benefit you more than you could imagine in the future. For example, when you are seeking funding, when you are joining an association of professionals, when your goals change, when your business changes, or if you take on a partner or investor. Your plan should guide you, but not constrain you. If something in your plan doesn't fit just right, change it. Your business plan will never have a final draft.

Startup Mistake # 3: Brochures and business cards are garbage to startup businesses! You will spend far more producing them than they will produce for you. Ignoring the high cost of printing these materials, and the costs associated in designing them if you aren't proficient yourself, most startup businesses change too quickly for these materials to be effective for more than a short period, sometimes as little as days.

If it costs $1000 to print these the first time, and $1000 to design them the first time, imagine how much you will pay if your brochures beat statistics and last two months. If alterations to design cost $500, it costs $1500 every time your business changes. If your business changes every two months, you can expect to spend at least $9000 that year on brochures and business cards. Yes, that is nine thousand dollars in lost revenue, over something that is less effective than graffiti. Don't waste your time, or your money, on brochures and business cards until you can keep your typical sales presentation the same for at least six months. Otherwise, for business startups, these things aren't worth the trouble.

Startup Mistake # 4: Okay, the Yellow Pages. Let's take a look in the Yellow Pages and see how many other trillions of carpenters there are. Which ones stand out? Definitely not the tiny ad in the corner. Probably not the one-liner. And as a business startup, that is all you would be able to afford. For the one or two clients per year this would bring you, it is better to wait until your marketing budget can afford to buy large, extravagant and eye-catching ads.

Startup Mistake # 5: Six hundred dollars for a website and domain name? A website and domain name before a marketing plan? This scenario is already causing headaches for those of you "in the know". Best idea for a business startup, design your own website for free if you can. Second best idea for a business startup, get a friend or relative to design it for free. Third best, pay a minimal fee for the complicated stuff and the rest can be done by yourself and a relative.

Only if no one in the world can help you, do you want to hire a professional to do the whole thing for you. And when you do, try and get it on 30 or 60 days post. That way, the new website will be generating money for you before you pay. If you do pay upfront, and can't get around it, ask if they do free updates. You are guaranteed to change a thing or two, probably at least once a week as you test out your new site. If you pay $600, it had better be a good website – because your entire marketing budget just paid for it.

We all have habits, some good and some not so good. These are behaviors that we've learned and that occur almost automatically. And most of us have a habit we'd like to break, or one we'd like to develop.

For most people, it takes about four weeks for a new behavior to become routine, or habit. The following steps can make it easier to establish a new behavior pattern.

1. The first step is to set your goal. Especially when you are trying to stop or break a habit, you should try to phrase your goal as a positive statement. For example, instead of saying "I will quit snacking at night", say "I will practice healthy eating habits". You should also write down your goal. Commiting it to paper helps you to commit. It can also help if you tell your goal to someone you trust.

2. Decide on a replacement behavior. (If your goal is to develop a new habit then your replacement behavior will be the goal itself.) This step is very important when you are trying to break a habit. If you want to stop a behavior, you must have a superior behavior to put in it's place. If you don't, the old behavior pattern will return.

3. Learn and be aware of your triggers. Behavior patterns don't exist independently. Often, one habit is associated with another part of your regular routine. For instance, in the snacking example the trigger may be late night television or reading. You automatically grab a bag of chips while you watch. Many people who smoke automatically light up after eating. Think about when and why you do the thing you want to quit.

4. Post reminders to yourself. You can do this by leaving yourself notes in the places where the behavior usually occurs. Or you can leave yourself a message on the mirror, refrigerator, computer monitor or some other place where you will see it regularly. You can also have a family member or co-worker use a particular phrase to remind you of your goal.

5. Get help and support from someone. This is kind of obvious. Any job is easier with help. It works even better if you can form a partnership with someone who shares the same goal.

6. Write daily affirmations. Write your phrase or sentence in the present tense (as if it were already happening), and write it ten times a day for twenty-one days. This process helps make your goal a part of your subconscious, which will not only remind you to practice the new behavior, but it also keeps you focused and motivated.

7. Reward yourself for making progress at set time intervals. Focus on your goal one day at a time, but give yourself a small treat at one, three and six months. The rewards don't have to be big or expensive, and you should try to make it something that's associated in some way with the goal. Doing this provides you with both incentive and extra motivation.

Following these steps is no guarantee of success of course. Depending on the habit it may take several tries to finally make the change. But if you stick with it, you can do it. Good Luck.

New data released last week by the Labor Department shows the continuing consequences of the Great Recession for unmarried women. This group continues to experience high and extended unemployment as well as underemployment, and this underscores the urgent need for Congress and the administration to continue to focus on job creation and policies to spur demand and assist the unemployed.

High unemployment poses enormous challenges for all kinds of workers, but it can be a tragedy for unmarried women. Unmarried women already face higher-than-average poverty, many are responsible for family members including children and elders, and they frequently do not have a partner to rely on during times of economic distress.

Last month, 10.8 percent of unmarried women (age 16 and over) were unemployed (data by marital status is not seasonally adjusted). Of unmarried women who had , 8.1 percent were working part time but said that they wanted to work full time. Nationally, unemployment was at 9.9 percent and 6.6 percent of workers worked part time but would prefer full-time work (part-time data is not seasonally adjusted). Women who head a household without a spouse (with a child, parent, or other dependent household member) faced a slightly higher unemployment rate than other unmarried women, at 11.0 percent in April.

Does Your Real Estate Agent Know Your Style?

A real estate agent is similar to having a personal shopper, and what good is a personal shopper if they don’t get your personal taste and style? For example if you tell 3 different personal shoppers that you need a blue dress for a birthday party this spring and you’re looking to spend no more than $100, you’ll undoubtedly be presented with 3 different dresses and while each of the dresses may meet your basic criteria all of them may not be to your personal style or taste.

From my experience, this is exactly what happens when you ask three different real estate agents to find you a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath house within an hour commute of work for around $350,000. Click here to read more.
