Live Your Life by Design, not by Default

Although I am new to this network, I want to start off on the right foot. I want you to know that you have total control of your destiny by the decisions you make. Yes, God has a purpose for you but it doesn't just fall in your lap. We have to get so excited about fulfilling our purpose until we speak it, dream it, eat it, and sleep it. Everyday we must be doing little things that are leading us to our PURPOSE. You have the power to design your own life. Don't live a life that has been given to you by default. Don't live inherited dreams, doing what mama, daddy, and untie Ann have always wanted you to do. Just because your mom is a nurse, doesn't mean that your purpose is the same. You have to know what you are passionate about. You have to know what gifts and talents you possess. The worse thing is to get to the end of your life only to realize that you never lived your life, you always lived someone else's.When you live your life by design, your attitude changes. Your mindset changes and you shift from waiting on something to happen to making something happen. You become a walking billboard for your dream. Your actions say you want more. Your conversation says you want more. Your circle of influence changes. You can no longer tolerate hanging around people who just want to talk about what happened at the club last night, or who slept with who. Your energy is now on designing your life. Too many of us have wasted time on trying to please people and live up to their expectations of us. I have a question for you, What do you expect from you? What do you want from you? Where do you want your life to be 3 years from now? You can't keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. Whatever you water will grow. If you water your your desire to hang out, go clubbing, drink etc. then that is what will grow. If you water your desire to be successful and live your dreams by networking, researching, being empowered and motivated by others who are doing what you want to do, then that desire will grow until it manifest your purpose.I am all about pushing people to greatness. We are all great. We all have something to offer. I am determined to live the God-best life. I am designing my life by the decisions that I make and the actions that I take. I love leadership training and empowering people, so I read books on those subjects, listen to empowerment cds, watch movies that inspire and motivate. I find mentors that I can learn from and glean from. I know many of you are already designing your life, but there are a few who may need to be pushed out of their comfort zone and reminded that they are great. Don't be a victim to your past. Don't allow anyone to manipulate, intimidate or control you. You don't owe anyone anything. You don't need the affirmation of others to live your life by design. People will talk about you, but guess what, they are talking about you now. Don't be fooled. Not everyone want to see your life get better. They like when you struggle, live from check to check, and have jacked-up relationships. Take an inventory of the people in your life. Write them all down, then put a check beside the ones who are adding something to your life. If you are honest, there will not be many. We try to hold on to friendships and relationships that God intended to be for a season. We try to keep them for a life-time and they end of draining us of everything, and we never fulfill God's divine purpose for our lives. I encourage you to take some time and think about where you are and where you want to be. Do they add up?I look forward to building relationships and networking with those of you who are determined to live your life by design. God BlessPastor Y.

Your ~ Mother's Love!

Tears and hugs, intimate talks about loveFuture endeavors and all that we treasureHopes and dreams that we prayed would come trueThat's only a portion of what I've shared with you.Aspirations shared through conversationsAs I poured out my very heart,And you listened intently, and smiled gentlyAnd took your own turn to share your thoughts. You've always seen the best in me and you've covered me in your prayers. And the thing that blessed me most of all is... no matter what you've always been there. You helped me through my lowest points, when even I detested my actions,And we praised God through my roughest times; not giving the enemy any satisfaction.I got saved with you that special night, over 11 years ago, I recall. What a blessed event that followed ~ the lowest point that I could fall.Mother, you mean so much more than these words can express,When I think back over our relationship ~ I see, it was you who loved me best. And I pray to God that I've returned the favor,For acceptance of souls is what we all long for and dear one, that is what I savor. You see, I've been in your family 17 years now;And you've accepted and loved me through it all somehowIn a way I know only to be ChristTo be my mother and friend, you've sacrificed-And I don't take it lightly, this bond that we shareAnd my promise to you is ... I will always be there.I'll hold your hand until the very end. When a new life in Christ one shall begin.I will cherish you always; your laughter, your love, your wisdom, your hopes and desires.Remembering always the times that God has allowed us to seeAnd the love that you've so generously given to me.You've enriched my life, you are my family;Thank you for all that you've taughtAnd for sharing with me your grand heart.Momma, I can't imagine my life without youAnd I pray that we've many more years. However, today I am sharing my heart and I'm making it crystal clear.I love you more than you'll ever knowMore than my actions and these few words could showAnd I know that you'll always be nearBut, I'm giving you your flowers while you're still here. And I am eternally grateful to God ~ for sending me blessings from above. For He brought you into my lifeSo, I can experience YOUR MOTHER'S LOVE!_____________________________________________________________Abridged Version---Originally Presented: IN HONOR of YOUR MOTHER's LOVE ~ Birthday 2006IN LOVING MEMORY of Mrs. ANITA (TEE TAH) JONES (Ex-mother-in-law)Passed OVER on July 7, 2008

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER - by Erma Bombeck(written after she found out she was dying from cancer).I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.I would have talked less and listened more.I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains.I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle. When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner." There would have been more "I love you's." More "I'm sorry's."But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute...look at it and really see it .. live it and never give it back. Stop sweating the small stuff.Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what.Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us.Let's think about what God HAS blessed us with. And what we are doing each day to promote ourselves mentally, physically, emotionally. I hope you all have a blessed day.Zanira Says SMILE

*Sigh* It has been quite a day... and to top off the thunder and lightning that absolutely drives me batty, I had a most exhausting back and forth with a client who isn't getting that the logo she says she wants is not a logo. To avoid more confusion, I decided to send her a list and I am going to repost it over and over again. And maybe once more.

What it IS:

  • A visual representation of a business, a part of your brand
  • Simple
  • A vector image that can be resized without pixelating (i.e. those little jagged squares and blurs you get when you resize a picture)
  • Looks as good in black/white/gray scale as it does in color
  • Simple
  • Created in programs such as Illustrator; or a very talented designer can do it in a program like Photoshop
  • A very labor and time intensive project that involves the designer AND the client; therefore,
  • Is an investment in your business and should be budgeted for accordingly.
  • Did I mention simple?
  • Can be put in front of any background or on any element.
  • Looks good online AND in print

What it's NOT:

  • Photographs or stock images/clip art
  • Dependant on having a color background or texture elements
  • Extremely busy and have a lot going on
  • Created in Publisher, Word, PaintShop, etc.
  • Changed every time the wind blows

Not only is your logo a representation of your business, it also tells the public how seriously you take your business. A true designer interprets your vision/mission statement into a visual element. I'll get into designer vs. desktop publisher in another MiniMizz post, but just because one can use design software does not mean they are a designer.

A good logo is not inexpensive - most designers I know charge $400 to $1,500 to start; if you want the source file so you can change the colors and stuff yourself, add some more to that figure. Artwork that will be used commercially may add more to that rate. Of course, if that is out of your budget there are sites that you can create your own logo BUT keep in mind that other businesses may/will be using some of the same variations that you do. If you don't intend to grow your brand, then that method is perfectly fine.

Your logo should also be made available to you in 72, 150, 300 or 600 dpi (dots per inch). The 72 and 150 dpi is good for online use, the higher numbers are used for print. Be sure that the designer you hire has a contract that spells out how many mocks and revisions are included in the rate and what file formats you will receive. Most common files will be jpg, gif and png (for transparency) or eps; if you are going to have the source file it will be psd or ai.

Hopefully this will help just one person to understand what is minimally involved in creating a logo.

Need More Ways To Make Money?

From the blog " To How Make Money - Business Opportunities"

Becoming a Professional Cleaner
So what’s the difference between becoming a professional cleaner and starting your own cleaning business? Not much. When you start your cleaning service, you are, by all definitions of the word a professional cleaner.

The great thing about going into the cleaning service industry is that you do not need special skills or knowledge to expertly or completely give excellent service to your future clients. A professional cleaner simply knows the mechanics of dust has been trained to clean or knows the best products for cleaning either by experience or referral.

Desiring A Mate

I often warn women who are contemplating marriage to marry someone whocan take care of them. When a woman marries, it ought to be to someonewho is capable of taking her to the next level. If she comes frompoverty, there is no reason for her to get married and still beimpoverished. The role of the man is to take her to another place. When she gets married, she ought to dress better, drive better, livebetter, and eat better, not constantly be in a struggle over where hernext meal is coming from. My grandmother used to say, "I can do bad allby myself". For a woman desiring a mate, the objective, of course, wouldbe to find a Christian man, who's settled, has goals, accomplishmentsand a job. But a goal-oriented and focused man can't just be approachedany kind of way. So the woman who seeks this type of stability must makesure that he stands out above the crowd:1. Make sure your relationship with the Lord is strong and growing.2. Make sure that you are presentable. Working from the inside out, yourpresentation should be representative of both who you are and whom youseek.Appearance is a reflection of how you see yourself.3. Have the ability to hold an intelligent conversation.4. And most importantly, allow the Holy Ghost to take control. You don'tneed to go after him. He's going to come after you, because after hesees and smells you and knows that you're in his presence, he's going towant to know who you are! I know there's somebody reading this who hasbeen chasing after the "man of your dreams," but God says, "Just sitstill and allow patience to have her perfect work through Me."Furthermore, it's never a good idea to be too forward and tooaggressive.Attempting to win a man's affection by jumping into bed with him willonly backfire and cause him to lose interest in ever developing alasting relationship. It causes him to lose respect for you and questionyour character. However, if he sees that you are dressed with quality, that you smelllike you are somebody, that you look like you're doing fine without him, then that will attract the right attention from him. He'll have nochoice but to give you his attention. Stop looking so needy, climbinginto bed, trying in vain to capture a man's heart.God woke me up in the middle of the night and said, "The same thing thatNaomi told Ruth to do is the same thing that I want them to do for me."God is so sick of saints coming to Him trying to get a quickie and neverromancing Him for Who he is - going to church screaming, shouting andhollering, but hadn't been intimate with God all week long! Stop tryingto treat God like a sugar daddy and start romancing Him with worship andpraise: "I'm yours Lord...everything I've got...everything I'm not!"The God we serve, which is the God of love, demands and requires of usforeplay before He gives us what we need. In the book of Ruth, themother-in-law tells Ruth, "You have to wash." John 15:3 reminds us, Nowye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. When you sitin the Gospel of Jesus Christ, you are taking a shower. When you hearthe unadulterated Word of God, then the dirt and grime that you'veaccumulated all week long begins to wash off of you.Ask God to "create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit."Stand in the word. Then wait upon the Lord to renew your strength. Pass this on to thosewho have found or are seeking Mr. Right. This message is not directed atthe receiver, it is directed to women I know that touch other youngwomen that can benefit from this information. We are to be Naomi's ofthe world today. Our young women need to be informed of how to catch and keep a man thatwill respect them.

Thriving Every Day

Today's Scripture: "...I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance, to the full, till it overflows" (John 10:10 AMP).God doesn't want you to live with a "barely-get-by" attitude. He has new seasons of increase in front of you. He wants you to thrive, to live an abundant, overflowing life. Sometimes when things seem difficult, it's easy to slip into a "survival mode." When times get tough, it's tempting to just hunker down and settle where you are. If you're not careful, you'll develop a survival mentality that will keep you from growing and releasing your faith. You'll be happy just to "break even." But as God's children, we're not supposed to just break even; we're supposed to break through to a new level! We're supposed to believe for more of God's favor, increase, and promotion no matter what is happening in the world around us. Make up your mind today that no matter how difficult things seem, you are going to thrive every day! Take hold of God's promises and declare that you are rising higher. As you continue to expect His favor and increase, you'll see His hand of blessing in your life, and you will thrive and live in victory all the days of your life.A Prayer for Today: Father in heaven, thank You for giving me life. I choose today to agree with Your Word which says I can thrive and enjoy my life to the full. Help me see Your hand at work more and more each day. I bless You and give You praise. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

RuninngIt was a winter wonderland. The tree limbs hung limp, burden from the fallen snow. The moon was full, illuminating the night with its revealing presence. Confused, she continued her lone walk. She was hurting, not an physical hurt. That would have been easier to deal with. This was an emotional hurt. The wind pulled mercilessly at her trench coat; but the woman ignored its pull. Not even the rapid falling of snow could stop her painful sojourn. She was numb, from her pending situation. She was walking without seeing, her demeanor completely at odds with Mother Nature's divine work. The passersbyers were hastening to their planned destinations. They were wisely aware that they were no match for Mother Nature's awesome display of authority. In passing, they cast curious glances her way, wondering what was causing her to act out of the norm. The echoing words in her head became her antagonist. The reverberating hurtful sounds, caused her to pick up speed. Not fast enough. She had to get away from the problem. Why her? Why? Still not fast enough, she ran faster. She knew not where she was going, pure instincts were driving her.Everything was a blur to her. She was not aware when the snow ceased its descent. The wind was tugging at her long braided locks; angrily she shoved them aside. The wind's force was trying to slow her process, but she was persistent. Her black scarf went sailing to the ground. She did not stop. A woman sipping a cup of coffee in a cafe' glanced up in shock at the speeding woman. She noticed the beautiful scarf's descent. Going outside, she retrieved the fallen garment from the pavement. Standing, she looked at the scarf. It was beautiful. It was embroidered with bold red letters that read TBJ. Looking in the direction, she had last seen the running woman, she sighed. She recognized the running woman. She never met her personally. She used to be her, running.Sighing again, she softly rubbed her brow. Running from the situation would solve nothing. There comes a time, when you have to simply deal with it. Bowing her head, the woman offered up small prayer for the fleeing woman.Faster, faster, faster. The words became her litany. The wind continued to whip at her, as if rebuking her, for defying its authority. Her hat came off. She did not attempt to capture it. It was a stark contrast against the fallen snow. A homeless man noticed the fallen garment, staggered awkwardly to his feet. Placing the hat on his head, he smiled. His head and ears were now warm. He looked in the direction of the running woman, scratching his head; he wondered what could make her abandon such a precious gift. Shrugging his shoulders, he figured, one-man's trash is another man's gain. Whistling, he staggered back to his make shift pallet. Her chest was beginning to hurt; she began laboring for breath. Her body fought against the strenuous demand, she was placing on it. All this and the echoes would not stop. She wanted them to stop! The taunting words pursued her. Suddenly there was a shifting in the atmosphere. If possible, the skies darken. Dark clouds loomed up ahead. Lightning pierced the midnight sky, the booming sound of thunder sent shivers down her spine. The woman stopped. Up ahead was a sophisticated couple of African American descent. The man leaned in close in a valiant attempt to protect the woman from the cold. Their steps hurried as they sought refuge from the coming storm. The woman looking trustingly into her companion's eyes, she smiled; assured he would get them both to safety. Not far ahead, the couple entered a Brownstone Terrace Apartment safely beating out the storm. The heavens opened up then and the rain began to fall. She stood there, trembling, watching the rain melt the ice from the tree limbs. She was tired of the running. The piercing cold was beginning to penetrate. She gasped, now realizing she lost her protectants--her hat and scarf. How could this have happen? Her hat was a cherished gift from her father. The scarf was lovingly handwoven by her mother; scribed with her initials on it. Gone. She lost her precious gifts while running. There she stood in the pouring rain, watching the water carry the debris down the gutter. At her precious loss, she realized, she should have simply dealt with her issues.Picture by WAK

Zanira's Word of the Day - BALANCE

Zanira’s Motivational Word of the Day - BALANCEDefinition: To be in equilibrium; an equality of weight, power, advantage; an amount still owed or left over.Action: This word is an indicator that even in the midst of chaos, you need to keep yourself in balance. It is definitely not a time to “rock the boat.” Take time to become centered and calm within yourself, so that your actions will be in harmony with your greatest and highest good.Balance comes from taking care of your own needs first. Harmonize the many aspects of yourself. Align your energies. Blend.Take time to ponder what you truly want. Weigh the issues. Perhaps make a list of the pros and cons in a situation. You may need to rearrange priorities. See clearly what you have let get out of control in your life. Find the balance you need to walk your path of life in harmony. It is worth the effort.Zanira Says SMILE
