GIFT ETIQUETTE 101

One of the most common questions that I get emailed about has to do with this: how do I handle a gift when I've been invited to a wedding, birthday party, graduation celebration, bridal shower, baby shower, etc. (fill in the blank) and I can't go? The short answer is this: you do not have to send a gift if you RSVP "No." No go? No gift. I hope thishelps to make a lot of people a little less stressed out!Stay tuned for Gift Etiquette 101 additions.Forever promoting,Karma Middletonwww.Great-Promo.ComCreating Brain Tattoos that last Generations!

Feel like a stranger

I just wanted to say I think this is a fantatic communtiy, but i feel like a stranger here. Seems like no one hardly replies to my post. I put a blog out and no answers. I was just wondering do I really belong here? I feel like only maybe two people have replied and showed intrest toward me. I want to be active here, because i'm active in another communtiy. I don't feel active here, because i feel I'm just invisible here. I had decided to delete my profile here, but found out i had a friend request. So i'm here today giving it another try. Well i don't know if this post will be seen, but giving it a try.:)

1st Fitting

So I finally tried on the wedding dress (that I made). I love it and although it's different than what i had originally wanted, I still LOVE. This is the only place I can post any pictures, because I am sure my future husband will not join this community. My hair was a mess, I have on a regular bra, and the dress needs a really good pressing, but I just tried it on for "fitting" purposes. Being my bottom has is slightly larger than my upper, I only have to have it taken in at my bust. The length is ok, I added 3 inches before I started. It could be longer, but I am still pondering the actual shoes I am going to wear. One of my good friends is letting me borrow her "bustier" for my wedding so that's my "borrowed" item. I still am looking for something blue... not really sure how that's going to fit into my brown, ivory and orange theme, but I will make it work. I am sure my mom has something "old" for me because she still (after 30 years) has all of her wedding items.I am really excited for September to come! You ladies will start seeing more pictures as the date comes closer and of course after the wedding.

Have you inspired someone today?Believe me we all need inspiration sometimes.I recently met a sister entreprenuer named Robin. CHILDREN AND ANGELS

1. Can children really see angels?Yes, the evidence is overwhelming. Here is an account from a person I know. (The names have been changed as requested.) The only explanation for this amazing, true story is that an angel did give a message to a child. My friend June was broken-hearted. She had done her best to raise her daughter Ericka, but in her teen age years Ericka became addicted on drugs and left home. While on drugs, Ericka became pregnant and had a baby boy. Ericka realized that she could not care for her baby and she asked her mother to take care of the baby boy until she became clean. Instead of kicking the habit, Ericka became more addicted and gave birth to a second baby, a girl. Once again, she implored her mother to care for her second child, with promises that this time she would become drug free and become a good mother. Despite her promises, Ericka disappeared and June lost all contact with Ericka. Taking care of two grandchildren was not the way June had planned to spend her midlife years, but she loved them dearly and never complained. One morning four-year old David said, “Grandma, we have to find my baby brother.”June replied, “David, you don’t have a brother.”“Yes, I do,” the child insisted. “An angel came and told me we have to find my baby brother.”June thought David would soon forget his imaginary brother, but throughout the day David persisted. "It’s not my imagination,” he insisted. “The angel told me. We have to go find my brother.”“Could it be possible?” June wondered. “Did David see an angel? Does he have a baby brother? Is it possible that Ericka had given birth to another child?”Because her grandson was so insistent, June decided to begin a search. Ericka had broken off all contacts with her and June knew of no way to find her daughter. In desperation, she decided to call the maternity wards at local hospitals. There was no record of her daughter in any of the hospitals in the city where June lived, but David would not relent. “We have to find my baby brother,” he insisted. “Keep trying,” he pleaded.Next, June tried the maternity ward of the hospital in the next town. Her daughter Ericka was there and had just given birth to a baby boy! Within an hour June was by her side. The daughter was hostile. “Mom, how did you find me?” Ericka demanded. “How did you know I had given birth?”She listened in amazement to the story: how an angel had come to her preschool son with the message that he had a baby brother and that he had to find him. Erica broke into tears. “Mom,” she said, “After leaving you with two of my children, I was so embarrassed and ashamed when I became pregnant. That’s why I didn’t tell you about this baby.”Since she was still addicted to drugs, Ericka realized she could not care for the new baby. The last I have heard, June was caring for her three grandchildren, Ericka was in rehab determined to become a good mother. David, now a big brother, was so proud he had found his little brother-- just like the angel had told him to do.

Business Plan Maintenance

A business plan is not a one-time document, at least it shouldn't be. Most businesses put together a business plan during their start-up phase to organize, attract partners and employees, and to try and get a loan or financial investment. This is a great use of a business plan, however far too often once the company has started up the plan isn't touched again.Ultimately, a business plan is about results, about making your business better. If you don't think doing a business plan will improve your business, then don't do one. Planning for planning's sake is a waste of time.Where a plan is most likely to make your business better is by allowing you to:Set priorities properly. Track plan vs. actual results and make course corrections. Plan and manage the critical numbers that aren't intuitive: not just profit and loss, but the relationship to cash flow, balance sheet, and ratios. Communicate your plan to others: partners, employees, lenders, and investors. You may have a great plan in your head, but as soon as you need to explain it to others, you need to write it down. Few Woman-Owned Firms Looking AbroadA survey finds women business owners aren't making the most of the global marketplace.By: Ana Patricia FerreyPublished June 26, 2008Woman businesses owners aren't taking full advantage of the global marketplace in the competition for corporate clients, according to the Women's Business Enterprise National Council. In a recent survey of more than 400 woman-owned businesses across the United States, only a few placed India among their top five suppliers for goods and services, even though it was cited as a leading outsourcing country by larger corporations, the Washington D.C.-based advocacy group said. By contrast, most survey respondents cited Canada as their top supplier.Joan Kerr, chair of the group's global committee, said India's dominance as a supplier for larger companies should prompt more U.S. women entrepreneurs to look at the country as an important resource."The study produces clear evidence that women's businesses must think creatively about partnering or buying abroad to win corporate clients," Linda Denny, the group's president and CEO, said in a statement.http://www.inc.com/news/articles/2008/06/womenbiz.html?partner=rss-alert

How to Create a "Media Buzz"

No one’s going to know anything about you do unless you tell them. You have to “create a buzz.” What does that mean? It means you have to market yourself in such a way that creates attention to you and visibility. How do you do that?Promote Yourself. Don’t Be Shy. If you want to be recognized for what you do you have to promote yourself. I am a big fan of Press Releases, however, they only work if you know how to write them. As a former News Assignment Editor I can tell you first-hand that an overwhelming majority of releases get tossed by journalists because they are either poorly written, lack newsworthiness or are just plain dull. The headline of your press release should be an attention grabber.Which one of these headlines would make you want to read more?Invite Me Over to Trash Your HouseNew Author Wants to Help You Organize Your HouseIf you’re an author, find a way to tie your book into a current news event. Or better yet, create your own media news event. Romance authors, for example, should always be able to capitalize during the holidays---especially Valentine’s Day.You can also promote yourself thru blogging and connecting to groups and organizations—both on and offline.
