Tomorrow is Not Promised

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you;ll eventually lose someone you love.So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.Warm Regards,Jea

God Wanted Me To Tell You...

It shall be well with you this year. No matter how much your enemies tty this year, they will not succeed. You have been destined to make it and you shall surely achieve all your goals this year. For the remaining months of the year, all your agonies will be diverted and victory and prosperity will be coming in abundance.Today God has confirmed the end of your sufferings, sorrows and plains because He that sits on the throne has remembered you. He has taken away the hardships and given you JOY. He will never let you down.I knocked at heavens door this morning. God asked me, "My child! What can I do for you?" And I said, "Father, please protect and bless the person reading this message." God smiled and answered, "Request granted."Blessings to all my BBWO Friends,Jea

4 more months!

There are 4 more months until my wedding. In all the excitement and preparation, I have been sewing less. It's already been hard trying to start my business, raise a 9 year old and manage a relationship with a wonderful (and understanding) man and work a full time job. I have been blessed with an understanding family, but it seems like things are starting to fall to the wayside the closer it get's to my wedding.I have already done quite a few things... made the invites, started my wedding dress, did some flowers, but it seems like the more I do, the more needs to get done.I'd love to recieve some advice from you ladies on who you "juggle" all that life hands you. It get's hard and seems like there is never enough time in the day. I find myself, logging in and checking out the forums and groups during my full time job (8 -5). Some times, I get home and would rather work on building my business rather than finish preparing for my wedding, or do my "motherly" duties and cook, clean, etc. I guess I just have to keep on moving and do what I can. I can't be superwoman and do it all.

Greetings Family,(Contact Information At Bottom Of Page)It's your friendly neighborhood "Digital Drummer" again (smile)I first heard of the concept of "Ubuntu" from Roger Madison's iZania.com ( a Black social and business networking site). Imagine my surprise as I've watched the Tech industry, take hold of this purely African concept of humanity, and implement it as a core philosophy in the OS (operating system) wars with Microsoft Windows. The Ubuntu Operating System (www.ubuntu.com) is a community developed, Linux-based operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. It contains all the applications you need - a web browser, presentation, document and spreadsheet software, instant messaging and much more. They have collected the best of what the open-source world has to offer in Ubuntu 8.04. eWeek.com reports that this Linux-based operating system is capable of mounting a serious challenge to Microsoft Windows and have rewarded it with the "Labs Analyst's Choice" Award (see http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Linux-and-Open-Source/Ubuntu-804-Is-Ready-to-Take-On-Windows/).***************(Advertisement)*********************Looking For More Exposure, Want To Help A Good Cause, Need Money???Come on over to www.freshfaces2u.com and register to win $10,000 dollars CASH!At Fresh Faces2u it's NOT about how you look...But Who You Are!Join us in our mission to change the image of women in the mediaSign Up Today At Fresh Faces2u.com******************************************************The "Spirit of Ubuntu – that profound African sense that we are human only through the humanity of other human beings.” is central and relative to the official Ubuntu (OS) core philosophy of software freedom that aims to spread and bring the benefits of software to all parts of the world. Ubuntu (OS) is essentially a collective database of open-source software from independent developers. Hence the Spirit of Ubuntu - It only exists through the contributions of others. Ubuntu (OS) combines all the software application licenses necessary to enable the Ubuntu community to grow, continue to share its collective experience and unlike other OS companies, provide the expertise to improve Ubuntu and make it suitable for use in new countries and new industries. With the public acceptance of non-Windows based multi-platform applications, such as FireFox, Safari, and Linux, the Ubuntu (OS) is finding a wide base of consumer popularity. As an online advocate, I'm always encouraging my readership to try new technology, develop new products/services, and discover new markets. The Ubuntu (OS) may be a way to go for Black software developers and content producers looking for;The freedom to run their software program, for any purpose. The freedom to study how the program works and adapt it to their needs. The freedom to redistribute copies so they can help others. The freedom to improve the program and release their improvements to the public, so that everyone benefits.(see http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html)Wikipedia has a great definition of Ubuntu (plus a video from Nelson Mandela) . They quote Archbishop Desmond Tutu; "A person with Ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole".Remember, We Must Share The Knowledge (Network)...To Share The Dollars!!!***************(Advertisement)*********************Need some great ideas for corporate or personal gift-giving?Then go to City Lights Software(http://www.citylightssoftware.com )and see some of the most unique afrocentric gifts available online! We Deliver ONLINE - Direct To Your Desktop for just $14.95Please take the time to purchase one our afrocentric screen savers TODAY!Don't Just Talk the Talk...Let Your Dollars Walk the WalkIf you have any problems with purchasing online contact me direct at sales@citylightssoftware.com or call (213) 944-4176******************************************************This Online Journal was brought to you by InterServe Networks. A Nlitened Thought! 05/02/08

Strong and wealthy!Because your own strength is unequal to the task, do not assume thatit is beyond the powers of man- but if anything is within the powersand province of man, believe that it is within your own compass also.[ Marcus Aurelius Antoninus ]Adapted from Creating Affluence by Deepak Chopra (New World Library,1993).Affluence of wealth means that one is easily able to fulfill one'sdesires, whatever they may be, whether they apply to the materialrealm, or to our emotional, psychological or spiritual needs, or tothe realm of relationship.A truly wealthy person's attention is never focused on money alone. Moreover, a wealthy person never has money concerns. You may havemillions of dollars in the bank, but if you think all the time aboutmoney, if you have concern about it, if you worry about it—aboutgetting more, about not having enough, about losing it—thenirrespective of the dollar amount you possess, you are poor.To have true wealth or affluence is to be totally carefree abouteverything in life, including money. True wealth consciousness is,therefore, consciousness of the source of all material reality. Thissource of all material reality is pure consciousness. It is pureawareness. It is the unified field. It is the field of allpossibilities. We cannot know this field just by thinking about itbecause, by definition, it is transcendental to thought. We can, however, have experiential knowledge of this field by transcending toit and knowing it intimately as our own nature. The best way to acquire knowledge of this field of pure being isthrough meditation. My Thoughts:The stronger your will the more apt you are to obtaining that whichyou desire most. Within you is the ability to achieve anything. Findstrength in your daily rituals/practices; meditation, breath work andphysical/spiritual exercise (Yoga, Tai Chi or Qigong even Bellydance). You will bethat which you practice daily. Money can be the paper presence of theego, desiring more of it will only make room for a higher desire ofit. Live within your means, attain enough to help you functionpositively and create the level of true wealth you desire in yourmind first. Money is no great healer however your mind, body, souland spirit are!Love is….TL

The Weekend Begins.................

This week flew by as all the weeks in the past have since I reached 30 years old which although it has been quite some time seems like just yesterday. It seems as though over the years the time just flies by....... This week I had two meetings set this week one at the Mayors Office to meet with one of the staff members to address the health initiatives and research projects that are geared toward reaching the residents of the community. The other meeting is to reach out to the medical staff members that are parishioners to work out a plan of getting members of the churches to participate in healthy choices and health promotional events. Both meetings went very well, we have to overcome some barriers which we are prepared to deal with other alternative methods.I have also found the courage to ask for support from others in helping to bring joy and comfort to those who are facing terminal illnesses, losing a loved one or those who are just giving their all to help a family member during this rough period of the end stage of life. When I first began giving gift baskets, I used my own monies and I can tell you how incredibly rewarding it is for me to make someone else enjoy a moment of joy during the roughest season of their lives. I really wished that I could give to everyone. Now I have expanded to children as they too need a great big pick me up -- especially having to face a terminal disease. Now here it is Friday the weekend is upon us yet again and I have a lot of work to do........... The Health & Wellness show airs tomorrow morning at 11 am. In addition, I am going to keep working to meet the needs of others through health, wellness and giving gifts to those who really need it most. As the saying goes, it is better to give than to receive - but then again the satisfaction in giving is priceless..............

LACE WIG APPLICATION Gone Bad!

CAN YOU TELL B. GOT ON A LACE WIG?

Hello Network of Black Business Women. I feel the need to update you all on what is going on in the hair industry. If you don't know about lace wigs, you will after you read this blog. Lace Wigs have been around since the 1980s. They have many names like... systems, units, toupee, prosthesis wigs, celebrity hair, and even cyber-hair. They first were on the market for cancer patients, range from $3000-$5000 dollars. Then the movie industry found out about them. One of the first celebrities that wore something similar in one of his movies was Clark Gable that played in "Gone with the Wind". See lace wigs are not just for women, they are for men also. Over the years the names and how the were attached have been changed.I know that you all think that Beyonce and Trya Banks started the trend; but that's okay. That was a marketing move (my opinion). Know that our celebrity icons secret has gotten out, the young and mature have to have it. The prices have gone down, they have become very assessable, many non-stylist are/trying selling them, and uncertified stylist are/trying put them on. There is just one big problem with the last part.I seem to get clients that have order lace wigs off the internet (the texture and size is not correct), ordered from a vendor that doesn't have a clue about hair (color, size and lace is a issue), or gone to a stylist that haven't been trained or trained properly (cost the client $100s of dollars and sometimes damage to the scalp/hair)TRUE STORY.I got a call from a new client, that found me on the local yahoo directory (thank God for local yahoo direct.) She wanted to come in to have her lace wig removed. She was so thankful that I was able to get her in right away. She expressed how bad her scalp was hurting and that she had puss on the front of her upper forehead (hairline). She stated that it was hurting so bad, she had been taking pain pills for the past couple of days. Once I examined how she was attached, I notice that the stylist put a very tight wig stocking cap under her lace wig. It was squeezing her head so tight. I had to release the lace wig from the back away from the wig stocking cap. Then cut the wig stocking. I thought once I cut the wig stocking she would be okay. WRONG! When I starting removing the front she jumped out of the chair; screaming as if someone was killing her. At this point, I was very upset with the stylist that applied her lace wig. I didn't want to hurt her anymore, so I stopped and she finally pulled the lace and wig stocking out of her scalp. You read it correct. The wig stocking cap had cut into her scalp so bad, blood was pouring out. We applied pressure, and I advised her to go to the clinic to get stitches. All she could say was I can't believe this. I'm speaking of a beautiful young professional woman. First of all how would she explain to the doctor what happen and secondly, how is she going to cover that up for work. No lace wig or any other wig for a while. She will have a permanent scar, all because the stylist was not trained and had too much pride to say I don't know how to do that service. Ladies this is a WARNING, for your vanity. Please make sure when making choices of buying and get your lace wig applied, the person is trained. If you are wondering if I'm trained, YES. Trained at the BEST hair replacement University in the US; by the BEST trainer.Untrained and Cheap is not always a good choice.

Affordable "green" body care

Going green has been in the news for quite some time. There are reusable bags for sale in many supermarkets and plastic bags from department stores offer ways to recycle said bag to keep from harming the environment. Bath and body care is going green also – if one takes a look at any shelf in the supermarket or the local discount department store, you will see various skin and body care products labeled “organic” or natural. In the general sense, being having “natural” on the label does not necessarily mean the product is good for your skin – it depends on what other additives are used. Remember, arsenic is natural! However, a body or skin care product created from natural ingredients is much better for your skin and well being than a product with an ingredient list full of unpronounceable words that is longer than your arm.Because I initially created a product for use by my 1 year old daughter, I took great care to use ingredients that were basically safe enough to ingest (excluding of course the fragrance). Neosoul.essentials’ products are 95%-100 % percent natural and do not contain parabens or any other preservatives. Our unfragranced products and those fragranced with essential oils are 100% natural. My purpose for creating neosoul.essentials was to provide those who want to ‘go green’ in bath and body care a healthful and budget conscious alternative to the high priced “natural” products. Everyone deserves to have an alternative to chemical-laden body care products. I use shea butter, cocoa butter, avocado oil, coconut oil, canola oil and virgin coconut oil in my products. As I stated before, our unfragranced products may not taste good, but are safe to ingest! If you have any questions on our products or our ingredients, please feel free to email me at Christine(at)neosoulessentials.com.

Greetings Family,(Contact Information At Bottom Of Page)It's your friendly neighborhood "Digital Drummer" again (smile)On April 8th 2008, Judge Robert Takasugi saw fit in his judicial wisdom to overturn my conviction for Social Security Fraud and clear my name. (see Message From The Publisher http://www.citylightssoftware.com/reporter040901.html)Below is the story ran today by the Compton Bulletin in it's effort to correct the injustice that it's first story caused, when they announced that the City of Compton had awarded a major contract to a convicted felon (see http://www.thecomptonbulletin.com/news01_030905/index.html)Remember, We Must Share The Knowledge (Network)...To Share The Dollars!!!***************(Advertisement)*********************Looking For More Exposure, Want To Help A Good Cause, Need Money???Come on over to www.freshfaces2u.com and register to win $10,000 dollars CASH!At Fresh Faces2u it's NOT about how you look...But Who You Are!Join us in our mission to change the image of women in the mediaSign Up Today At Fresh Faces2u.com******************************************************Local Man Wrongly Convicted Finds Justice at LastBy Cheryl ScottBulletin Staff Writerhttp://www.thecomptonbulletin.com/news05_043008/Jim Neusom lived life as a wrongly convicted felon for five yearsLos Angeles resident and former Compton vendor Jim Neusom has been fighting to clear his name since 2003, when he was falsely convicted of Social Security fraud. Before his troubles began he was a successful businessman in the field of high-tech communications and security systems. He had a client list that included the city of Compton, and helped build the city’s emergency communications center.Today he is poised to begin his life again.“I have to thank the Lord for this,” he told The Bulletin. “What finally cleared my name came out of the blue just when I thought everything was lost.”Neusom had been taking care of his mother’s business when it was discovered she had terminal cancer. “At that time she set up an account for my grandmother and my aunt, and I continued to take care of their needs after my mother died.”In compliance with government regulations, he notified the Social Security office that his mother had died. “In fact, I received two checks from them after she died, and I returned them,” he said. “I also notified the bank that they were not to accept anymore checks in my mother’s name from Social Security.”But deposits were made directly into the account shared by his grandmother and aunt. He did not realize that money continued to be issued to his mother until Social Security representatives came to his home.“I explained to them that I had notified them of my mother’s death,” Neusom said. “They had me sign a statement stating that I was aware of the deposits and thought the money was for my grandmother and my aunt. I had spent all of the money on their needs. They said they would take care of the clerical mistake. Next thing I knew I was indicted for Social Security fraud, which is a federal offense with a sentence of five to 10 years in prison.”A trial ensued. Neusom attempted to obtain bank records that would back up his story, but they were not available because the bank only keeps records for two years and the crime was allegedly committed several years before that. However, Social Security was unable to present proof that the crime had been committed.Although the jury found him guilty, Judge Robert Takasugi refused to impose even the minimum five-year sentence. He imposed five years of probation, instead. “This kept me out of prison, thank God,” Neusom said. “But according to the terms of the probation, I had to stay in Los Angeles. But I had just gotten married and my wife and I had moved to Las Vegas. I had sold my house in L.A. But I was not able to live in Las Vegas in the home I shared with my wife.”A divorce ensued, as did the destruction of his professional life. Neusom was founder and president of City Lights Software, a company that supplied security systems to many cities and other major clients.“I could not practice my profession because in my work I dealt with financial information and the terms of my probation prohibited me from doing that,” he said. “I was one of the first creators of Afro-Centric software and I had been a respected writer for black Websites. Everything was brought to a stop. I was 50 years old, homeless with no way to make a living in my profession because I could not be bonded.”Neusom had been offered a plea deal from the District Attorney’s office from the start, but he refused it. “I was not guilty of this offense,” he said. “I had done nothing wrong. I did not want to take a plea admitting guild for something I did not do.”Working to re-start his career within the limitations imposed by his probation, he continued a series of appeals. His case was brought before the 9thCircuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals, which kicked it back to Judge Takasugi. It seemed that a never-ending circle was being acted out, with his case going from one court to another with no apparent end in sight. He had come to Compton city officials with a plan for installation of a city-wide video surveillance system that would be controlled by citizens. “This city loved the idea,” he said. “It was on the agenda and ready to be approved.” Ironically, that deal was quashed when news reports revealed the city was in talks with a convicted felon. It was back to square one at that point.“Then the miracle happened,” said Neusom. “The bank called me to tell me that they had found on my signature card a note stating I had informed them of my mother’s death. Two days later they called again to tell me that not only had they found proof that I had notified them – they also found proof that Social Security had notified them as well.”He had been convicted for “intentionally” failing to notify Social Security of his mother’s death.“This new information pretty much made hash of the government’s case against me,” he said. “But it’s very difficult to reverse a conviction because it is difficult to get new evidence admitted. But the judge finally overturned my conviction.”Does a lawsuit lie ahead?“I’m not focused on anything like that,” Neusom said. “I bear no ill will to anyone. I just want to get my life started again and repair my business. I have skills and services that would benefit the residents of Compton and would help me put my life together again. That’s all I want.”Neusom thinks, despite everything that has happened to him, that he is a very lucky man.“Who would have thought that the bank would randomly find a bit of evidence that was crucial to me long after the trial was over,” he says. “That’s something I never expected and didn’t even hope for. That’s why I think God had something to do with it.”Although he never spent a day in prison, Neusom knows what it’s like to experience life as a convicted felon. And he knows what it’s like to be free – at last.***************(Advertisement)*********************Need some great ideas for corporate or personal gift-giving?Then go to City Lights Software(http://www.citylightssoftware.com )and see some of the most unique afrocentric gifts available online!
