Spotlight on Michael Jackson falls short on manners ...This week, bad news has certainly come in threes -- Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson are dead. The flurry of news surrounding Michael's sudden passing somehow seemed to eclipse that of the other two deceased, though. I am not particularly surprised at that because I know enough about the media and how they operate to expect the kind of frenetic movement towards the "next big thing" that has been evident since news of the entertainer's death broke. The life and death of Michael Jackson became that next big thing and oh, how the networks scrambled for ratings, swarming like flies to cover every angle and, like good investigators, re-hash those old file stories and photos of the pop star's foibles and eccentricities!Such a shame that amidst the hype, not a one remembers to practice manners that ought to come naturally to modern societies. Can it be that hard to say nothing but good about the recently deceased? So so sad, that the American press -- for all its accolades -- can be so blind?~ Sharon McNab

Divas,Today I celebrate my 50th Birthday. I am truly grateful that God has brought me through another year, safe and sound. There have been bumps and bruises along the way, as I am sure there will be many more to come. I have learned that amidst all of the cards, flowers, balloons and gifts, the lasting memories of this birthday come from the time I spent with my friends, family and one very special man.I continue to learn many things about myself, among them the joy of living my life according to my values and priorities. My girlfriend asked me today, when I woke up this morning and looked in the mirror, did I have any regrets of the things I had done within the last 72 hours (I am sure that she was referring to my belly piercing). I did not hesitate for a moment on the answer, It was a resounding "NO". Your website is the face of your business. If the appearance of your website looks like no effort was put into building it you can kiss your potential customers good bye. My biggest pet peeve is a link that goes nowhere. When customers click on a link and the page doesn’t exist or there are no products to purchase you could possibly lose that customer.Does your website look like a bad used sales car dealer?• By this I mean flashy and one big sells pitch. No one wants to feel like they are being forced to buy your product. You must build trust with your customers first before they will buy from you. It normally takes a customer 5-7 times to see your website before purchasing from you.Does your web page take forever to load?• If it does you better find away to make your web page load quickly. The maximum should be 30-40 seconds and while your web page is loading your top page should load within 5 seconds and it better be interesting. You can lose any potential customers who are ready to buy your product.Are you tracking your visitors?• If you are not tracking how your visitors found your website then close your doors. You are wasting time and money.
