Do You Have A Servants Heart?

Do You Have A Servants Heart?Monday, March 30th, 2009 at 9:10 amMy daughter and I were out shopping for my husbands birthday last week - three hours before his surprise birthday party. However, with a crying one year old, I found myself in a frantic panic trying to shift her around in her stroller while holding a hand full of clothes and looking for her bottle, pacifier or anything to calm her down. In an effort to pick her up, I went to place the clothes on a little rack at the edge of the aisle to free up my hands. Next thing you know, the whole counter came crashing down. I felt my blood pressure rising, seeing all the neighboring shoppers give me the eye with the “get that whining baby outta here” look.Feeling completely overwhelmed, a young lady was coming my way as I attempted to clean up the mess, calm Chloe down and pick the clothes back up. I felt a little relieved when I saw her coming, excited about the fact that someone was willing to help me in the midst of this chaotic moment. The closer she got, the happier I became….until she stepped right over the pile of mess and worked her way around the stroller to go on her merry way…….!!!!!!!!!!!Immediately I was so disgusted, thinking about how selfish of a society we have become. To think that I’m in a busy store, in the middle of it’s busy hour on a busy shopping day and NOT ONE PERSON would come over to help me. I was steaming mad and embarrassed at the thought of our culture. An innocuous acceptance of an egotistical, pompous, me-first, power hungry population is vastly on the rise, and this girl was living proof! As pissed as I was……. a very valuable lesson was brought to my attention as it relates to our industry, challenging me and my personal integrity. I was personally questioned with the following: “do you have a servants heart, or are you just like that young lady, passing people by in an effort to pursue your selfish endeavors?”.…………..OUCH!!! I really had to think about that for a minute. It’s not to say that we should’nt have personal goals or ambitions. That would be totally unreasonable. But do you have a heart to serve others in their efforts to succeed? Are you willing to put your goals in proper perspective, and know that if you help others, you will then help your own business to grow? What do I mean you ask? Well, in life, we are taught to go for what you want and be aggressive about your success. Although I agree with that statement, there are certain aspects that can be unruly, often leading to a very pushy, selfish kind of character that makes one feel that they “deserve” to be successful and will do what ever they have to do to make it to the top…even if that means stepping on other peoples toes to get there. When I first stepped into the world of internet marketing, I initially wanted to just focus on “building my business” and “making myself money”. But I quickly discovered that these two goals would become the last on my list of priorities. If you haven’t discovered it yet, Internet Marketing is not for the “selfish”. This industry is based purely on helping and serving others with the goal of making money on the back end. I’m not saying that it’s impossible to make money without building relationships. But if you truly want to be a long term winner in this industry, you must be willing to serve and help others! Why?? Do you ask. Think about it….how many times do you give up your money to someone that “isn’t adding value to your life”? Can a person just walk up to you on the street and say…”hey, I’ll make you rich if you give me $500 dollars” and you willingly give him that money? OF COURSE NOT!….so why should people spend money with you BEFORE you show them how you can add value to their lives? You see my point? …….Good!Once you realize the need to add value to others, then you will be able to properly determine your place in this industry. If you are someone that is willing to learn so that you can help others advance in their journey, then you will be on the winning edge.In the world of Internet Marketing, a servants heart is required!

HOW YOU CAN SUCCEED AS A CONSCIOUS ENTREPRENEUR

- HOW YOU CAN SUCCEED AS A CONSCIOUS ENTREPRENEUR -By: Christine M. KloserBranding, marketing and sales... oh, my! Many entrepreneurs (including myself when I was learning about business) overlook the importance of these aspects of entrepreneurship. Often, conscious entrepreneurs start a business to help others, make a difference and transform the world; with most of the energy going into creating a website, getting a business card designed and putting together product/service offerings. These are essential steps. But, there are two additional important aspects of your business you've got to consider from the beginning (or beginning TODAY if you've been in business for a while). These are two more nuggets I've learned from my mentors that have made a big difference in my business success.Insight #1: "Branding occurs in the minds of your prospects and clients." Thirty Books of the Bible

Thirty Books of the BibleThere are thirty books in the Bible in this paragraph. Can you find them? This is a most remarkable puzzle. It was found by a gentleman in an airplane seat pocket, on a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu, keeping him occupied for hours. He enjoyed it so much; he passed it on to some friends. One friend from Illinois worked on this while fishing from his john boat. Another friend studied it while playing his banjo. Elaine Taylor, a columnist friend, was so intrigued by it she mentioned it in her weekly newspaper column. Another friend judges the job of solving this puzzle so involving, she brews a cup of tea to help her nerves. There will be some names that are really easy to spot. That's a fact. Some people, however, will soon find themselves in a jam, especially since the book names are not necessarily capitalized. Truthfully, from answers we get, we are forced to admit it usually takes a minister or scholar to see some of them at the worst. Research has shown that something in our genes is responsible for the difficulty we have in seeing the books in the paragraph. During a recent fund raising event, which featured this puzzle, Alpha Del Phi lemonade booth set a new sales record. The local paper, The Chronicle, surveyed over 200 patrons who reported that this puzzle was one of the most difficult they had ever seen. As Daniel Hummana humbly puts it, 'the books are all right here in plain view hidden from sight.' Those able to find all of them will hear great lamentations from those who have to be shown. One revelation that may help is that books like Timothy and Samuel may occur without their numbers. Also, keep in mind, that punctuation and spaces in the middle are normal. A chipper attitude will help you compete really well against those who claim to know the answers. Remember, there is no need for a mad exodus, there really are thirty books of the Bible lurking somewhere in this paragraph waiting to be found.

Rescue......

One thing I have struggled with throughout my life is wanting to rescue people from bad situations and addictions that they chose to be in....in other words, I had been an enabler. Not practicing "tough love" doesn't help the person, it just makes it worse. You see, I was trying to be their Savior...until one day, the Lord said to me, "Stop trying to save them...I'm their Savior...you’re not". Well, it was like a slap in the face, here I thought I was just being a compassionate person. However, the Lord showed me I was interfering with His plan to save them and redeem them....that's why Jesus came to earth, to redeem us from all our sins. Though I still sometimes struggle with just stepping back and letting someone fall so Jesus can catch them...I know for their own good I have to let them hit rock bottom. If you have this problem...step out of the way and let them fall into the arms of Jesus.Scripture for the Day:"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, Jesus, that whoeverbelieves in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16Point to Ponder:Jesus is the one true Savior of the world...He doesn't need any one.Prayer for the day:"Jesus, please show me the difference between compassion and when I am just trying to be a "Savior".

The form of ownership that you choose to operate your business under will determine the method in which you pay yourself a salary. Making this decision in the start up phase requires much research and should be handled with care. We choose our form of ownership, mainly based on the potential tax consequence that we expect. Of course, our goal is to pay as little taxes as possible into the system, so the form of ownership chosen helps to achieve this goal. There are clear advantages and disadvantages based on each method available. As a small business, many people survive from the earnings from operations. But the key here is to remember to keep your business and personal expenses separate. So the questions is, “How do I pay myself, and what impact does it have on my taxes?” Let’s look at some of the ways a business owner can pay themselves a salary from the earnings of their business.Sole Proprietors and LLCsTaking money out your business or paying yourself under these forms of ownership, the owner will be responsible for self-employment taxes on any profits that remain in the business whether withdrawn or not. Because this income is not subject to withholding, the owner could also become responsible for making estimated quarterly tax payments. The estimated tax payments will account for both the self-employment tax along with income tax. The self-employment tax is the equivalent of what an employer’s payroll tax would be for FICA and Medicare. The disadvantage here would be that the owner is fully responsible for the entire tax, whereas corporations are not. The corporation is only responsible for half of the FICA taxes; Social Security (12.4%) and Medicare (2.9%) tax; with the employee paying the other half. Many owners become confused because they believe that since they are paying the self employment tax, that they are not subject to any further taxation. This is not true. The money you withdraw from your business is still subject to income taxes and you must report this income on your form 1040. The key point to remember here is that, although you are not subject to payroll taxes, you are still required to pay into the system by way of self employment and income taxes. The advantage here is the owner gets a deduction on its taxes for paying self employment taxes, where the owner of a corporation doesn’t. For tax purposes you can elect to have your LLC taxed as a corporation, but be aware that making this choice involves very complex rules and regulations. It’s best to stick with what makes sense for you.CorporationsIf you are established as this form of business, the payment to yourself would be made in the form of a salary through payroll. Under this method, you are subject to payroll taxes, which include income (federal and state), and FICA (Social Security and Medicare). One of the key advantages of corporations is that the owners are not liable for self-employment taxes for profits retained in the business. As with Sole Proprietorships and LLCs, you saw that profits are taxed whether paid out or retained in the business. However, a corporation will be subject to unemployment taxes for both federal and state. The employee does not share in this expense. So, the difference here comes in the classification of a corporation being an entity separate from its owners. Because of this, it has an entire different tax profile than the Sole Proprietor or the LLC. The corporation and its owners are taxed separately. Each must file its own tax form.Deciding on your method of payment simply comes down to how it must be reported for tax purposes. Take the time to do the research so that you can choose the best method based on your company’s profile.

Stuff Happens...

A bold life says; “I know that stuff happens, but I assuredly know that God loves me; therefore I will not be moved.” Jesus said that He has come “that [we] may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” (John 10:10, AMP) There will be challenges and oppositions in life, but that neither negates God’s love for us nor destroys the good life that he has preordained for us (see Ephesians 2:10).Have confidence that God’s love for you is unending, unyielding and immovable. Be rooted and grounded in His love (Ephesians 3:17) and begin to live your life boldly!check out more here: http://www.divineimage.org/articles.asp?columnid=5360

Tips To Avoiding Foreclosure!

TIPS FOR AVOIDING FORECLOSUREAre you having trouble keeping up with your mortgage payments? Have you received a notice from your lender asking you to contact them?- Don’t ignore the letters from your lender- Contact your lender immediately- Contact a financial counselorIf you are unable to make your mortgage payment:1. Don’t ignore the problem. The further behind you become, the harder it will be to reinstate your loan and the more likely that you will lose your house.2. Contact your lender as soon as you realize that you have a problem.Lenders do not want your house. They have options to help borrowers through difficult financial times.3. Open and respond to all mail from your lender. The first notice you receive will offer good information about foreclosure prevention options that can help you weather financial problems. Later mail may include important notice of pending legal action. Your failure to open the mail will not be an excuse in foreclosure court.4. Know your mortgage rights.Find your loan documents and read them so you know what your lender may do if you can’t make payments. Learn about the foreclosure laws and timeframes in your state ( as every state is different) by contacting the State Government Housing Office.5. Understand foreclosure prevention options.Valuable information about foreclosure prevention (also called loss mitigation) options can be found on the internet at www.fha.gov/foreclosure/index.cfm.6. Prioritize your spending. After healthcare, keeping your house should be your first priority. Review your finances and see where you can cut spending in order to make your mortgage payments. Look for optional expenses-cable TV, memberships, entertainment-that you can eliminate. Delay payments on credit cards and other “unsecured” debt until you have paid your mortgage.7. Use your assets.Do you have asset-a second car , jewelry, a whole life insurance policy-that you can sell for cash to help reinstate your loan? Can anyone in your household get an extra job to bring in additional income? Even if these efforts don’t significantly increase your available cash or your income, they demonstrate to your lender that you are willing to make sacrifices to keep your home.8. Avoid foreclosure prevention companies? You don’t need to pay fees for foreclosure prevention help-use that money to pay the mortgage instead. Many for-profit companies will contact you promising to negotiate with your lender. While these may be legitimate businesses, they will charge you a hefty fee (often two or three month’s mortgage payment) for information and services.9. Don’t lose your house to foreclosure recovery scams! If any firm claims they can stop your foreclosure immediately if you sign a document appointing them to act on your behalf, you may well be signing over the title to your property and becoming a renter in your own home! Never sign a legal document without reading and understanding all the terms.10. Don’t procrastinate!Innovative Realty Solutions Group Inc.321.217.4321Yvonne Long, Realtoryvonnel.long@gmail.com

The Recipe Writer's Handbook

If you have lived for a while on this earth you will notice that there is very little new under the sun, with the exception of perhaps technology, which we're not talking about here. There are creative and interesting ways to use sugar, chocolate, spices and herbs in baking. There are fascinating ways to decorate cakes, cookies and all things sweet and edible. If you are a seasoned cook/baker you probably already know about this little jewel of a book, but if you are not this may be something you will want to look into. Originally written in 1997 by Barbara Gibbs Ostmann and Jane L.Baker The Recipe Writer's Handbook is something all bakers should have on their cookbook shelf. Why? Because one day you will be (perhaps not a "baby-boomer") but a generation "X" boomer or generation "Y" boomer and you will be passing on knowledge to the next generation of bakers. This sort of information is helpful. This little book is designed to teach you to "think" your way through a recipe to make important decisions and trouble shoot problems concerning format, syntax, spelling, cooking terminology etc." Those who attended at professional culinary art program probably already know this, but trust and believe if you live long enough it will escape your memory. You may not think you will, but one day you may want to put all your recipes to pen or in today's case "Word," and publish all those dynamic dishes that have made you famous or not so...famous. Publishers are always looking for ways to take a bigger piece of your pie, so this book can assist you in structuring your recipes in such a manner that publishers will think you had help...well you did it just didn't cost you an arm and a leg.The more you know, the more you can deliver and you won't have to rely on the publisher finding culinary writers to "clean up" your recipes.I have the old copy (original 1997) and plan of purchase the revised and expanded copy soon. The chapters in my copy are well written and the information is invaluable. Here's a hint of what's in the book (1997 version).Chapter 1 The Philosophy of Recipe WritingChapter 2 Recipe Writing StyleChapter 3 The Style SheetChapter 4 Recipe TestingChapter 5 Cooking TerminologyChapter 6 Preferred Spelling of Commonly Used Food WordsChapter 7 Generic Terms for Brand Names and TrademarksChapter 8 MetricsChapter 9 Nutrition Analysis of RecipesChapter 10 Copyright, Plagiarism and the Ethics of Recipe Writing and more (15 Chapters in all). The new revised book is on Amazon for under $10 (used) and I have emailed the authors to see if they might be revising it again (it's 2009). As I mention before if this is old news, no sweat, but for those baby bakers out there, just another resource for your baking arsenal.
