Aspire, Women of Color Study Bible Giveaway!

Aspire, Women of Color Study Bible Giveaway!

One of the great gifts given by God to us is the Bible. The Bible is the word of God. Reading your Bible daily forms a life-long relationship with our creator.

There will be some that say, “I don’t have time to read”, or “I don’t understand what I’m reading”. Do me a favor and try something different. Follow along reading the Bible while listening to an audio version. It is amazing how quickly you can read the Bible, and how easily you understand what you are reading when you follow along as someone else reads.

Just try it. Go to YouVersion.com. The YouVersion.com website offers the Bible in many different versions and languages online and in audio absolutely free.

Select “Reader” under the “Bible” tab. Then choose a version you would like to read. If you find the King James Version too difficult to follow, I have found a version I know you will like. Select the Contemporary English Version. Then click on the browse button and select a book and chapter.

Now here is the cool part. To the right you will see the words “Audio Bible”. Find the audio version titled “English – Contemporary English Version (African American Speakers)”. Press play and read the Bible as the recorded voice on the audio reads to you.

Bible-Aspire.jpg
If your new year’s resolution was to read the Bible more, and you haven’t been able to keep your promise, then I hope the YouVersion.com Bible selections give you the boost you need.

NOW FOR THE GIVEAWAY. Visit the YouVersion.com website and leave me a comment on what you liked about the website in the comments section at our Inspirational Expressions Blog. I will select a name from the comments section and give away one Aspire, Women of Color Study Bible (NIV). Comments will be accepted until Wednesday, March 16th. We will choose a winner shortly thereafter. – Blessings Your Way!

Writing My Vision Changed My Life!

By now, most businesswomen have heard how important having a vision is, but surprisingly many have not written their vision.  This blog post is an appeal to all businesswomen who desire to accomplish their dreams and goals this year in 2011.

I started visioning approximately 15 years ago from a Bible study that I attended.  You see I learned that without a vision all of my hopes and desires could not be accomplished.  I had to take what was in my head, transfer it to paper and put it into action.  Of course, I procrastinated, wrote eloquent sounding statements that really didn't represent me and didn't really take the time to truly explore. It was when I decided to get real with myself that I realized I didn't have a solid vision of what I wanted.  So, instead of trying to visualize something far off I decided to create short-term visions that I wanted to experience in one year or less.

My first vision was that I wanted to experience paying off my debt.  I saw myself not having bills coming to my mail box and I saw myself smiling that I was able to get what I wanted and pay cash for it.  It became even more real as I started collecting anything that I could find on getting out of debt.

I told anybody and everybody that I was moving towards being debt free.  It was this action that caused a girlfriend to call and share with me information about a workshop in Los Angeles that was at her church called, "Millionaires In Training" given by George Thompson .

My husband and I committed to taking the class and the results were astounding.  In less than one year, we were able to pay off our debt and things started happening like you wouldn't believe.

It suddenly hit me that once I took my vision and made it plain and then put action to it that I was able to accomplish anything and I mean anything.  Since that time, I have made visioning a vital part of my life and what I have learned from it throughout the years is absolutely miraculous.  I learned that there are different levels of visioning and that once you truly embrace that you have a supernatural power to declare and accomplish anything the flood gates of opportunities start to open up to you.

So, it is my desire and hope that you read this post with an open heart and willingness to stop and take the time to write your vision.

Below are 5 Reasons Why You Must Write Your Vision:

  1. It glorifies God through you and acknowledges the power that resides within you to create
  2. Gives you clarity and self-esteem
  3. Liberates you and confirms that you are indeed a unique and wonderfuly made individual
  4. It's the beginning of manifesting your dreams and goals
  5. It opens up the gates of opportunities and draw all the people into your life that will help you to realize your vision.

You are great!

One of the most well known confidence building exercises is to list your own strengths and natural abilities.

By looking at the list it can make you say “Wow, I really am good!”

Another great way of building your confidence and getting in touch with how great you really are is to ask friends, colleagues and people who you know for feedback on your strengths and natural abilities.

Your practical assignment is to list 5 people who you know and trust for this exercise.

Make sure they are from different areas of your life.

List them below:

1.    A FAMILY MEMBER

2.    A FRIEND

3.    A WORK COLLEAGUE

4.    AN ASSOCIATE

5.    A SOCIAL CONTACT

You might at this stage be feeling a little nervous about asking these people for feedback.

Don’t worry, because you will be only asking for your strengths.

JUST GO FOR IT!

So, how do you go about it?

Well, below is a list of questions that I’d like you to ask to each of your list.

I recommend that you meet or talk on the phone with each beforehand and explain the context of the exercise and then either ask them verbally or give them the questions and either fill in the sheet of paper or email you with their feedback.

They will feel honored that you have asked them and the feedback that you will receive will truly make you feel fabulous and full of confidence.

Rightly or wrongly, we live in a society where other peoples’ opinions count to our self esteem and confidence.

By completing this exercise you will get some really good insight into some of your strengths.

Often you receive valuable information on the strengths that you didn’t even know you had!

EXTERNAL FEEDBACK QUESTIONS

•    What do you perceive to be my greatest strengths?

•    What do you like most about me?

•    What do you value most about me?

•    What three words sum up the positive points about me?

•    If you needed help with something, what would you call me to help you with?

After you have received all of the feedback it is now time to reflect on what has been written or said:

How do you feel about it?

Are there any surprises?

Do you feel confident about your abilities?

How can you use this information going forward?

How can you maximize your strengths?

If these people think you have these strengths, so do a lot of other people as well – how does that make you feel?

What are the key insights you have learned?

What will you do now that is different to what you have done before?

Have a great week!

Cheers,

Charlotte

Hair |  Taking Care Of It

When learning to take care of any hair there is a golden rule - getting your hair hydrated.  For those of you who have been following me for a while now...you have heard me say this over, and over again.  I can not express this enough and how important it is.  But the only way to achieve this is finding and using the proper hair care products.  When hair is properly taken care of it will not have split ends, it will not be dry or hard to comb.  Hair that is properly taken care of is easily managable, shiny, and hydrated.

I would advocate that stroking your hair every night before going to bed is a very good thing to do for your hair.  It does not matter if your hair is relaxed or natural the practice of stroking your hair is a must.

natural-part-340x240%255B1%255D.jpg

One of the first things that should be done before doing anything else to your hair is the Hydrating Oil with Olive Oil and Vitamins by My Glory Hair Care Hydrating System.  This oil is ideal for your hair because it is formulated to give hair maximum hydration.  My Glory Hair Care Hydrating System knows that to achieve this, your hair needs more that just oil alone.  The oil must be accompanied by moisturizers and vitamins in order to penetrate the hair shaft and then the hair, and this is exactly what the My Glory Hydrating Oil does. You will be able to see and feel the difference after the first use and with continued use your hair will be absoulely beautiful.

I searched for a long time to find the right products that would work on my hair. I used My Glory on my hair when it was relaxed and it was beautiful.  And now that I am natural it is still beautiful. My hair does not shed, because it is not dry, and it does not have split ends which is a major cause of hair breakage and shedding.

I had to make my own products for my hair that would perform on my hair like I wanted them to.  I knew exactly what I wanted and needed and had to mix a little of this and a little of that to come up with the correct formula that would hydrate my hair, and now I want to share this amazing product with you.

I am going to shoot straight here.  If ground floor opportunity or free jewelry interest you at all, read on. (Although it's will not only be jewelry but accessories and leather products too!)
Go to www.judefrances.com
They are launching a new line, Bamboopink  by JudeFrances (this one is in my budget!)
This is the first of its kind, an internet launched company with “virtual” trunk shows and 10 different ways to earn money online.

Free sign-up, no risk, so why not?  (this is only until March 15th, then you have to pay to play)
All you need is your name, email and phone number  to get you signed up.
Then you can do the same as me and get credit for signing up your friends, which is what we are compensated for with jewelry, cash and/or an ipad.  It is not about selling the jewelry at this point, but networking and creating interest.

If you decide not to sell, that's fine- you have lost nothing and your name is dropped from the list, you walk away with your free jewelry or iPad and no obligation.
If you decide to stay on, you will probably love me forever!
If I’ve still not convinced you (did you read the part about ground floor?) DO THIS FOR ME!  I need you to sign-up everyone that you know! :)   I really believe that my friend has presented me with this once in a lifetime opportunity, and I want to knock it out of the park and create a great business team!

Sign-up by clicking below:
Good luck!  I hope you win some fabulous new jewels!

Do you have that entrepeneurial itch? Do you have a need to own your time? Do you have some talent or hobby you wish to share? Or maybe just interested in a career change? Well you've come to the right place. Deciding what type og business you want to start is the hard part. After that, we can help you build a successful business.

Evaluating your options:

So the first thing you need to do is evaluate your interests or hobbies. Is there something about your current or past jobs you like? Or something about a past job you really disliked? Do you have an interesting hobby that comes in handy here-and-there with your friends and family? Well these are the things to consider when you're deciding on a business to start. Make a list of things you're interested in AND things you dislike. The "dislike" list is to help you decide which businesses you DON'T like. Here's a sample of a list(keep in mind, some of the dislikes, might be your likes):

Likes

Using the computer

Working with people

Helping people feel good about themselves

Writing

Decorating

Helping people fix things

Cleaning

Dislikes

Dealing/speaking with people

Crunching numbers

Working with children

Giving speeches

Managing people

Consider your resources:

Now, after making that list, you need to decide what you can do with the likes and dislikes. Decide which of those is the most prominent and you're most interested in and GO WITH IT!! With some of your hobbies you can sell on eBay. With some of your like you can find franchises or Internet or Network Marketing businesses to satisfy those desires. Start researching your interests and interviewing some current business owners on their work life.

Research:

You need to educate yourself on the business you're interested in. You need to educate yourself on the industry you'll be working in. There are so many books that can get help you. Go to a local bookstore or library and just look for some of those business self-help or self-educate books.( A list of MUST-READS coming soon)

Put your twist on it:

While researching and creating a business plan, you need to think about how your business will be different from others. Now keep in mind, aspects of building your business successfully might be in place already and you will be able to connect with someone in the business that can help you build it. So, you don't want to re-invent the wheel if you don't have to. But you want to add your own little touch to certain aspects of your business. As you get more acquainted with the business and the people, you can develop these concepts quickly.

Stay MOTIVATED:

You want to make sure you stay inspired and most of all motivated to build your business in an organized, successful way. With my book, The MOTIVATOR, I can help you develop a business plan and ways to keep yourself organized and focused on your goals for your business. To be honest, starting a business is not the easiest thing to do, BUT it's so rewarding and you'll be able to set your own hours, and potentially be very successful. Just keep in mind you MUST work to see RESULTS. "Proverbs 12:11-he who works his land will have abundant food but he who chases fantasies lacks judgement."

Hope this has helped in some way. If you have more questions, I would like to encourage you to take our BAT (Business Aptitude Test). EXCLUSIVELY offered through Garrison Prosperity Solutions (G.P.S.).

Alot of people are not familiar with Cookie Lee Jewelry, so I thought I would give you a little history.

It is California's best kept secret! Cookie Lee is a line of fine fashion jewelry that started in Orange County, California in 1992. In 1985 Cookie began by taking a shoebox full of jewelry to her job, selling to the co-workers and friends as a hobby. In 1992, she hired her first consultant, Katherine Chrisman, and the dream became a reality. Cookie and her husband, John Lin, sold to their consultants from their home in Culver City until the business outgrew the house and they made the move to Irvine, California, where the original showroom is now located.

AVERAGE PRICES? Our average price range is between $12 and $38, with a few higher end pieces. Don't let the price fool you- the jewelry is very well made!

HOW CAN I SELL?Most of my business is done through home shows, office shows, catalog shows, and fundraisers. Cash and carry allows me to sell at holiday boutiques , arts and crafts fairs, and festivals!! Basically, anywhere you can set up a booth!

Best of all NO PRESENTATIONS!!!! No 3 ring binders to pass out. No flip charts or elaborate displays to carry. No scripts to memorize. No presentation means NO PRESENTATION!! Cookie Lee Shows are very unique. A typical home show may start at 7:00 pm and end at 9:00 pm. The hostess serves light snacks and is encouraged to stay out of the kitchen and try on jewelry with her friends!! Everyone tries on the jewelry and leaves with their purchases!! The invitation even reads, "stay 5 minutes or the whole time!! No presentations. No games. No quizzes!!

HOW MANY SHOWS PER MONTH? Our company does not dictate how many shows you need to do. You are your own boss. The only requirement made of each consultant is to purchase $300.00 wholesale PER YEAR to remain active. You can do as much or as little as you like. This company is MOM and working Woman friendly!!

WHO WILL TRAIN ME? There is a library of training Cd's, phone conferences, 2nd Saturday and new Consultant Trainings held across country. Also, as your upline, I will be able to assist you any way I can.

As of March 5, 2011 some of the Benefits I like are (subject to change):

* We get 50% discount on jewelry purchases.
* There are no minimum orders and no territories.
* This business is lots of fun and you can make great extra money. * We have no formal presentation or games at our shows.
* We have a "classy jewelry" show where we hold a drawing for free jewelry.
* The show hostess earns free jewelry and items discounted by 50%.
* Customers make jewelry purchases and take the items home.
* There are no lengthy order forms.
* When ordering from the company, orders are filled and shipped via Fed Ex.
* The company offers Consultants an opportunity to earn free prizes and fun Dream Getaway Trips.
* This business is a great way to meet new people and make new friends, and there are great networking opportunities.

I love the jewelry. So if you are looking for a fun way to make extra cash and meet some friends or even shop on line for yourself, please go to my website.

My Plan B Experience

10744061455?profile=originalThe biographies epiphany I mentioned in my previous blog post led me to think about my own personal experience. I realized that, when it came to my own career, I had ended up living my back-up plan. I thought of what I call the Plan A concept, which is simply this: Many people believe that they need to have a contingency plan, in case they can’t make their real dreams come true.

All too often, they go with this “sensible” Plan B instead of pursuing their sincere dreams. But how practical is it to deliberately leave your dreams by the wayside? If you go with your back-up plan, how will you ever know if your genuine dreams might actually be practical and doable were you to invest yourself in staying the Plan A course? Sure, you might be good at whatever your second choice career is, but it still doesn’t make for a very complete and fulfilling life. And settling for plan B leaves you always wondering, “What if?” Don’t get me wrong. I believe in being practical, but I also very strongly believe that in doing so, we must always keep our passions close to the surface so they are not forgotten and we must continually take steps toward achieving those dreams.

I have always known deep down (and not so deep down, truth be told!) that the path I chose, in the field of human resources management (HR), was not truly my Plan A path and that although there are aspects of HR that I love, most days I was simply going through the motions. Very rarely had I had the experience of bouncing out of bed because I was just so excited about the day ahead. And yet, I stayed in my career and actually successfully pursued a master’s degree in human resources management, as if gaining that deeper knowledge of the field would make me happier.

I thought I was alone in feeling confused about and locked in by my earlier choices. After countless conversations while developing my Plan A concept, however, I now know that there are far too many people who can relate to my situation.

Not every WebHost is WordPress Friendly

10744061089?profile=original

Before you purchase web hosting, do a little homework and ask around for recommendations. You don’t want to get stuck with a WebHost from hell. I just experience something close to it.

For the purpose of this post, I am called this webhost “Company DIY“. Company DIY promotes a blog hosting package with WordPress for a very affordable price. They don’t mention any of CMS (Content Management System). You can use their site builder or install it yourself. I have done ton of WordPress installations so I chose to do it myself. No problem there.

To read the headaches I had with Company DIY and get a list of recommended WebHosts, check out my post: Not every WebHost is WordPress Friendly.
