Seven Secrets For Innovation Leaders

First, you must foster a culture of innovation...and that begins at the top.Naturally, you want your company to be a leader in the marketplace. How can you achieve this goal? Create and nurture a company culture based on innovation.First, instill a mindset of continuous innovation at every level of your company. We have to debunk the myth that creativity is a trait a few select people are "born with"...that there are those with "creative personalities" and then there are the rest of us. In fact, we all have the potential to be innovative, at least to some degree.It's clear that creativity is unlearned as we grow up. The business world has traditionally favored analytical thinking over the capacity to innovate. Business schools produce highly trained young men and women who think along strict parameters. But times have changed, and now the mission has to change - to help people unlearn their uncreative habits.But where to begin?I'd like to offer the following seven tips for fostering innovation, gleaned from my personal experience over the years:1. Encourage a culture of tension. An alliance-based network often results in a highly matrixed organization that focuses on both capabilities and line responsibilities. Although tension is often thought of as undesirable, it has been discovered that debate and discussion unleash creativity in an organization. Issues, and hence opportunities, surface much more quickly. The key is to avoid deadlocks in debates where creativity is stifled and progress is not made.2. Educate all employees. Company-wide education is essential before any change program is rolled out, if a company's capabilities are to be kept running smoothly throughout the turmoil that such a program inevitably brings about. Most people innately prefer the status quo unless and until they are given some sound reason why an alternative is preferable.3. Use the new orientation to bring managers closer to customers. Frontline personnel are often quicker to adapt, and less resistant to the idea of a new way of thinking than are a company's managers. Companies can speed up a sluggish start to their transition by nominating a few potential champions at the top of the organization and at successive levels further down. The designated champions can then be sent out to experience firsthand some of the problems that face the organization's customers. This results in bottom-up leadership from those closest to the customers.4. Buy expertise that you do not already have in-house. In many cases a new idea - and the proposed route of the journey - is so strange that organizations do not have the in-house skills that are needed to make the transition. They need to go out and find help in those areas where they have insufficient expertise - for example, with the techniques of change management. Most importantly, outside help can help you surface and challenge assumptions that may be invisible to the rest of the organization.5. Communicate clearly, continuously and repeatedly. It is not possible to exaggerate the need for transitional information to be clearly and regularly communicated throughout the organization. If in doubt, remember the Rule of 50s. The first 50 times you tell people something, they don't hear you. The second 50 times you tell them the same thing, they don't believe you. Only during the third 50 times that you tell them do they begin to listen.6. Build safeguards that prevent backward steps. Senior managers who are not close to their customers can stall a transition that is already well under way and may even cause it to revert back. This can sometimes occur because of an unexpected change of leadership. To minimize the risk from such a changeover, companies should develop several strong leaders on the team so that there is someone to carry on the role of champion if (and when) one of the others moves on.Additionally, employing a phased approach can help prevent setbacks. Taking on too much change at one time can be a shock to the organization and can lead to a sort of traumatic inertia.7. Realize that one size does not fit all. Organizations should not try to follow any one case study too literally. No two companies will pass through a transition for the same reasons or by following the same sequence of events. Not only does one size not fit all; one size doesn't even fit two.Any leader worth his or her salt should be enthusiastic about creating a culture of innovation. After all, a company with such a culture naturally rises to the top. Once innovation becomes a way of life for your company, people will want to work for you. You will begin to attract the best and the brightest. And before you know it, your company will be a leader - not a follower - in the marketplace.

Ever Feel Like You Work Too Much?

Man I have been going a 100 mile per hour these past few weeks, business is picking up and I'm feeling the pains of lack of sleep from putting in late work hours. I think 9 to 5 people don't know how much work goes into being your own boss. Take my mother for instance she insists daily that I'm living the life of Riley (this was a sitcom from back in the day about a man who didn't have a job, stayed home everyday and lived a life of leisure). While I will admit that I have the perks of waking up when I want to, if I decide not to work on a particular day I can do that too. But what she and other 9 to 5'ers forgets and many is that as a business owner if you don't work you don't eat, and the stress of finding and maintaining customers, keeps me working from sun up to sun down. To be honest it's easier to go work a regular job then it is to run your own business, you're not responsible for finding new customers, making sure there's enough money to pay employees and suppliers, managing and nurturing the company so that it grows. Nah being a employee is easier, but I'm a risk taker, a thrill seeker, a creator I'm a business owner. I like to work hard and yea sometimes too much, but who cares I'll sleep when I'm dead.So to all my entrepreneurs out their keeping working, creating and stay away from the nay sayers!

Stay Blessed my family.... you shall reap great rewards in Jesus Name, A testimony of unseen danger....Please read....Love and Blessings always!!!This a Letter sent to the Newspaper editorGreetings,I'm writing in regards to an issue with a gas leak in my home and the community, Our gas was turned off due to behind payment and was set to be turned back on due to medical issues in the home on the same day. I care for both my parents in the home my father whom is 93 and my mother whom is 81 and gas is used for heating the home. But due to a leakage the gas could not be turned back on. later the next day we smelled gas in our home while the gas company was repairing a leak in our home. We had to call emergency service and have my parents transport to the hospital and stayed overnight for treatment. There was carbon monoxide detected in their system. My children and I were not affected. The leak was right at my parents widow and beneath their rooms. I'm concerned with how this happen ...their is no detection of carbon monoxide in our home since the gas was turned off and the leak has been fixed, the fire department has assured us the home is safe....Praise God!! . How can I address this matter for my parents safety? What is your “Why”?I recall the days of English class when we were constantly reminded of writing our papers in the Who, What, When, Where, Why & How format. Although I never really scored that high in my English classes, I quickly learned to adopt the process of simply “asking questions”. Now that I’ve become more mature and could better process the cause and effect concept, I realize that everything we do MUST HAVE A PURPOSE AND INTENT.It goes with saying, “those who fail to plan, plan to fail”! The alternative to this would be Jim Rohns awesome statement “If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you‘ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.”My question for you today is “What is your Why for what you are currently pursuing?” Why are you involved in that home based business? Why do you want to learn more about Internet Marketing? Why do you want to make more money? Why are you trying to meet people on Social Media Sites? Why are you reading this blog entry? Why?What is the purpose of what you are doing? Where will it lead you? What are you going to do to make sure you succeed? What plans have you mapped out to ensure you succeed? Who is mentoring you and guiding you along the way? What if you encounter a challenge, how will you face it? …………………Who, What, When, Where, Why and How?????????????????Can you answer these questions?You may think I’m getting too deep into your business, but that’s good. That is my intent. I personally have been faced with asking myself these question and if I don’t stop to consider them and truly think them through and map them out, then I am bound to fail.Despite your endeavors, and regardless of your “ambitions”….if you do not know “why” you are really pursuing what you are pursuing, then the minute a challenge comes along, you will be knocked down, ran over, trampled on, forgotten about and eventually your “dreams” will fade away…..Just to be transparent with you, I will give you a quick peek into my world……………I have always wanted to be a motivational speaker and seek to impact the lives of people. Although I didn’t necessarily realize this while in college, I discovered it along the way when I had gotten involved with ministry and volunteered for local juvenile facilities in my college town of Auburn, AL. The more I realized how much I wanted to help people, the more excited I became in “civil activities”. The problem was however, that I was majoring in a subject that had nothing to do with “service”. Instead, it was based on another favorite passion of mine………MAKING MONEY.When I graduated from college, I struggled with the crossroads of “should I go and serve in some form of non-profit to help people” or should I pursue a corporate career and climb up the ladder to earning a 6 figure salary. The truth was, I had always planned on being a millionaire so anything that didn’t pay well was often over-ruled by a great income earning opportunity.It didn’t take me but one year to realize how much I hated Corporate America. Dreams of Climbing up the Corporate Ladder quickly became visions of escaping out the “fire exit” of what I considered to be the building that smothered your dreams, while suffocating your vision within the cubicle walls. Once again……………I QUICKLY LEARNED THAT I HATED CORPORATE AMERICA!My chance for entrepreneurship was quickly discovered as I sought ways to financially fund my overhead while giving me a flexible schedule. I would try it all…waiting tables, selling Avon, selling jewelry, selling Real Estate, Selling travel, substitute teaching……………..you name it, I’ve done it! And although it would help make me a lot of money for that time, I still had this nagging desire to really help people.Having discovered the world of network marketing, I saw how I could marry the two together….Helping People while making a comfortable living doing so, and also having the flexibility of my time so that if I wanted to volunteer at a youth center, group home or convalescent home, I had the control and freedom to do so.About a year ago, I went through the soul searching process again. Being a new mom, living in a new city and having just lost everything that I had built along with my husband over the past few years, I needed to get clarity on where I wanted to go from there. My quest would lead me to the world of Internet Marketing, where I would sail through the chambers of unknown concepts that could assure me long-term success as I mastered the Art of Attraction Marketing by providing quality information and guidance to the lost souls online, and make money doing it….I was unsure of how to approach it, but along the way, the blueprint became clear. Larger purchases of goods and services very often take the form of credit cards. Being able to accept credit card payments will put more clients within your reach, and thereby cause your business to grow. There are many different credit card processing services available to choose from. Here are some essential elements of electronic payment processing that will help you make the best decision on which credit card processing company to select.Average Approval RatingThis is a percentage based rating that reflects how many business applicants get accepted for credit card processing by a given company. The speed and fee of the application are also taken into account. Good processing services typically show high approval ratings. However, just as it's important for merchants to really check out different processing companies, merchants are often surprised to learn that this scrutiny goes both ways . Credit card processing companies can investigate the personal credit history of the applicant. This is understandable when you consider that setting up a merchant account is similar to taking out a loan. In the event a customer disputes a charge, credit card processing service must reimburse the customers bank and then turn to the business owner for the charged back money. If the small business owner has a low credit rating, then statistically the processing company has a lower chance of being reimbursed. As a result, business owner's personal credit is a factor in being approved for credit card processing services. So as a general rule, providers with high Average Approval Ratings are the best services to try first.FeesWhen a credit card is swiped, the transaction gets relayed to the credit card company, which then transfers the funds into the merchant's account. Let's get all these items out in the open.Gateway FeesThis is fee for using a secure server such as http://Authorize.net to approve and process transactions. Depending on arrangements with the payment gateway processor, your credit card merchant account may include gateway processing fees as a separate line item or as part of the monthly processing fee.Discount RateA credit card processing fee charged to process each transaction, based on a percentage of the transaction's dollar amount. The rate is based on risk associated with the transaction and will likely be different for each type of credit card transaction you process. An online transaction processing fee, for example, is generally a higher discount rate than the in-person retail rate because the associated risks are higher. Look for credit card processors that have a low discount rate.Fixed transaction feesIn addition to the discount rate, flat fees you pay for every credit card transaction processed. Look for transaction fees below 20 cents.Monthly MinimumsThis is a "floor" on the amount of credit card processing fees you pay for your merchant account and applies if other fees total less than the minimum.Cancellation Penalties. Additional processing fees if you cancel your merchant account.Chargebacks / Reversal FeesAdditional credit card processing fees if your buyer protests a charge and it is subsequently reversed and/or if a transaction is reversed for other reasons.This might seem like a lot for a small business owner to take on. But every week, hundreds of small businesses across the country set up credit card processing services after doing a cost-benefit analysis and realizing that in the long run, the benefits of credit card processing - increased client volume and higher per-ticket sales - far outweigh the expenses attached. Hopefully, this information will present a clearer picture for those considering this type of business upgrade.

I am here at home with my new kitten Lucy-Bella today, we got her on Friday and she has been adorable for the last few days then all of a sudden last night things changed, she went nuts and started attacking the furniture and everything else in her path - carrier bags, my daughters striped socks, the laundry..... I just found that she has bitten straight through the cabling for our ninento wii.. It just got me to thinking that however things appear at the start, you can just never predict for what might happen next so it is important to prepare in advance for all eventualities.. I knew beforehand that kittens loved cabling but I didnt put the cables away. Knowing what to for the best doesnt always mean you do it, does it?It also made me think about the current economic situation, we can see and hear all around us, news of this economic downturn but we dont tend to do anything to prepare until it is too late, until we have been made redundant, fallen into debt or been reposessed..
