Are YOU the Common Denominator?

Often times I hear it said by man ythat they feel like everyone around them is out to harm them. I also see these same people, continue to exhibit self destructive and non constructive behavior. They are unable to maintain any healthy relationships. They are insecure and they seem to find joy in the act of self pity. They struggle with forgiveness and are unable to accept the blame for many of the wrong turns that they have taken in life.

So, again I ask… Are YOU the Common Denominator?

It is imperative that we take an extensive look at ourselves on a regular basis to establish what type of person we would like to project ourselves to be. Do you want to be someone who lives a lonely and destitute life, lacking of true friendship, true happiness and the knowledge of self worth? If you answered NO to any of these questions, there is help. But it starts with you.

Once you realize that you have the power to change these obstacles, then and only then can you begin to change them. It is absolutely necessary to remove the blinders from your eyes, the plugs from your ears and the hardness from your heart.

The world is not out to get you, It is not everyone else………the Common Denominator is YOU!!

If you have a problem with keeping friends……..There is a reason!

If you have a problem maintaining healthy relationships…..There is a reason!

If you can’t seem to find true joy in your life……There is a reason!

If you find yourself isolated……..There is a reason!

First you must find the root of the problem and then you can trim the dead leaves and branches and establish a healthier life that grows better with time!

Don’t be afraid to ask for help if needed. We can’t do it all on our own!!

Stop being the Common Denominator!!

Good customer service is the lifeblood of any business. You can offer promotions and slash prices to bring in as many new customers as you want, but unless you can get some of those customers to come back, your business won't be profitable for long.

Good customer service is all about bringing customers back. And about sending them away happy - happy enough to pass positive feedback about your business along to others, who may then try the product or service you offer for themselves and in their turn become repeat customers.

If you're a good salesperson, you can sell anything to anyone once. But it will be your approach to customer service that determines whether or not you’ll ever be able to sell that person anything else. The essence of good customer service is forming a relationship with customers – a relationship that that individual customer feels that he would like to pursue.

How do you go about forming such a relationship? By remembering the one true secret of good customer service and acting accordingly; "You will be judged by what you do, not what you say."

I know this verges on the kind of statement that's often seen on a sampler, but providing good customer service IS a simple thing. If you truly want to have good customer service, all you have to do is ensure that your business consistently does these things:

1) Answer your phone.

Get call forwarding. Or an answering service. Hire staff1 if you need to. But make sure that someone is picking up the phone when someone calls your business. (Notice I say "someone". People who call want to talk to a live person, not a fake "recorded robot".) For more on answering the phone, see Phone Answering Tips to Win Business2.

2) Don't make promises unless you will keep them.

Not plan to keep them. Will keep them. Reliability is one of the keys to any good relationship, and good customer service is no exception. If you say, “Your new bedroom furniture will be delivered on Tuesday”, make sure it is delivered on Tuesday. Otherwise, don't say it. The same rule applies to client appointments, deadlines, etc.. Think before you give any promise - because nothing annoys customers more than a broken one.

3) Listen to your customers.

Is there anything more exasperating than telling someone what you want or what your problem is and then discovering that that person hasn't been paying attention and needs to have it explained again? From a customer's point of view, I doubt it. Can the sales pitches and the product babble. Let your customer talk and show him that you are listening by making the appropriate responses, such as suggesting how to solve the problem.

4) Deal with complaints.

No one likes hearing complaints, and many of us have developed a reflex shrug, saying, "You can't please all the people all the time". Maybe not, but if you give the complaint your attention, you may be able to please this one person this one time - and position your business to reap the benefits of good customer service.

5) Be helpful - even if there's no immediate profit in it.

The other day I popped into a local watch shop because I had lost the small piece that clips the pieces of my watch band together. When I explained the problem, the proprietor said that he thought he might have one lying around. He found it, attached it to my watch band – and charged me nothing! Where do you think I'll go when I need a new watch band or even a new watch? And how many people do you think I've told this story to?

6) Train your staff (if you have any) to be always helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable.

Do it yourself or hire someone to train them. Talk to them about good customer service and what it is (and isn't) regularly. Most importantly, give every member of your staff enough information and power to make those small customer-pleasing decisions, so he never has to say, "I don't know, but so-and-so will be back at..."

7) Take the extra step.

For instance, if someone walks into your store and asks you to help them find something, don't just say, "It's in Aisle 3". Lead the customer to the item. Better yet, wait and see if he has questions about it, or further needs. Whatever the extra step may be, if you want to provide good customer service, take it. They may not say so to you, but people notice when people make an extra effort and will tell other people.

8) Throw in something extra.

Whether it's a coupon for a future discount, additional information on how to use the product, or a genuine smile, people love to get more than they thought they were getting. And don’t think that a gesture has to be large to be effective. The local art framer that we use attaches a package of picture hangers to every picture he frames. A small thing, but so appreciated.

If you apply these eight simple rules consistently, your business will become known for its good customer service. And the best part? The irony of good customer service is that over time it will bring in more new customers than promotions and price slashing ever did!

Marketing Strategies For Wholesale Products

Before you begin investing any time and effort into marketing strategies for your wholesale product business, you need to think through your ideal target market. The last thing you want to do is pick an industry as a target market with a small target audience. And most people don't realize that there are several factors to consider when identifying their perfect target audience. Therefore, the six primary factors to consider are listed below. Once you’ve worked through each of them, you should have a far clearer idea of exactly who’ll be reaching which will allow you to be more effective in your sales and marketing.

1. The Size Of The Total Market
You have to begin by exactly defining your market. Are you going to go by your trade association’s definition? It may be that definition is too broad or too narrow. For instance, if you sell electronic learning toys, is your market the entire toy industry, specifically electronic toys, or laterally education products?

2. The Size Of The Market Interested In Your Product
Within your overall market as you’ve defined it, what is the market segment who will be specifically interested in your product? Using the example from the previous point, of all the consumers in the market for electronic learning toys, how many are likely to consider your product? If 10% of the market for electronic learning toys is composed of educational institutions, will they be likely to consider your product or more likely to pass it over in favor of an established line?

3. The Size Of The Market Accessible By Your Distribution Channels
How much of the market will you be able to reach through your chosen method of distribution? If the majority of consumers buy from retail stores, how much of that market could you reach through direct mail? If your competition primarily uses a sales force, how much of the market would you be able to market to via telemarketing?

4. The Size Of The Market Who Buy Competitors’ Products
After you’ve identified your direct competitors, gauge the size of the market segments they reach. Is it profitable enough to support another company? Should you redefine your market to go after one they’ve overlooked?

5. The Size Of The Market Your Company Can Serve
How many customers or much production can your company realistically serve? If you can only supply a few hundred customers in a market of millions of consumers, you’ll need to market accordingly. The only thing worse than not enough demand is too much of it.

6. The Size Of The Market Your Company Can Reach Through Advertising
With your given marketing strategy, budget, and personnel, how much of the market will you be able to reach? Is it more than you can supply, or is it insufficient to reach your break-even point? How does the information relate to your current strategy?

You see, there are a number of considerations when truly considering your target market. The truth is the number is influenced by the answers to all of the questions you ask here. However, by carefully examining these factors, you’ll be much better prepared for success!

One of the biggest challenges that Small Businesses face is creating effective marketing collateral.  In addition to a challenging budget, there is just the question of what to communicate.  My motto is K.I.S.S., Keep It Seriously Simple! Don't make the mistake of over communicating your product or services.  Consumers are a lot smarter than you think, but they don't want to be bombarded with tons of messaging or content.  It takes too much time to sift through the clutter.  So in order to help you avoid overkill, I will offer you some Tips in Marketing K.I.S.S.

1. Avoid Hokey Taglines - If you can't afford to hire a marketing consultant, then leave off the tagline all together.  As cleaver as you might think you are, customers can always tell when your tagline is homegrown.

2. Get to the Point - Don't waste time with too many details on your materials.  Your collateral should communicate four things immediately.  1) Who you are, 2) What you do, 3) What is unique about your offering and 4) How to contact you.  Anything more is TMI (too much information).

3. Minimize Images - Too many images can be a lot of the brain to process.  Keep your collateral to 1 or 2 images that communicate your focus at a glance. If you need to show multiple images, then stick to one main image that draws the focus.  Keep the other images subordinate so they con't compete with the main focus.

4. Use the 3-Click Rule - When it comes to your website or blog be sure not to bury your content and confuse visitors.  The 3-Click Rule states that a visitor should be able to get to any content on your site within 3 clicks.    Does your site measure up?

5.  Eliminate Business Card Clutter - While your business card has a lot of 'real estate', its important to stage the content carefully.  Stick to relevant contact details on the front, such as your name, title, email address  and phone number.   Put all other details on the back (but don't make the mistake of printing a book back there).

There are lots of other ways to Keep It Seriously Simple, but its easiest just to keep the customer in mind by asking a simple question.  If I had 5 seconds what would I want my customers to know? I have included a sample ad that we designed for a customer utilizing Marketing K.I.S.S.

Happy Branding!

Networking Can Help Grow Your Business Faster Than Any Other Form of Advertising
By Lahle Wolfe

Definition of Networking :

Lauren Neilson, in "8 Tips to Help You Become a Networking Guru!”1, defines networking as "...the bringing together of like minded individuals who, through relationship building, become walking, talking advertisements for one another."

Why Network?
Networking is one the most important skills you can develop to help your business succeed. Business networking should be reciprocal, that is, expect to give something if you want to get something. Through the art of networking you can exchange resources, contacts, ideas, information, job and sales leads, strategies – all things that can lead to revenue.

Women business owners should strive to make contacts across gender lines but it is especially important for women to network with other women because when it comes to business men and women generally think differently. And, since women own the majority of businesses in the service, hospitality and health industries you are most likely to successfully network among women peer business owners.

Networking at Professional Gatherings:
If you are invited to a professional gathering, award ceremony, or other business-sponsored social event, consider going. As long as you are not rude or pushy, networking at social events is usually acceptable.

Online Networks:  Online networks are an effective and easy way to connect with other professionals. It is fast becoming a popular tool for recruiting staff, investors, even volunteers but should not be your only source of networking.

Using Blogs to Network:
If you do not have a website at least consider starting a blog. Advantages to having a blog over a website is that they are easy to manage and your readers can post comments.

Co-Ops - Designed to Network!
A co-op is where people join together and share responsibilities and rewards for a common purpose. Because of the reciprocal nature of co-ops they are a great place to make contacts.

Overlooked Networking Sources:

Women businesses owners often have inspiring stories to share. If you are successful it is because you have excelled in something that will be of interest to others. Giving a speech is a wonderful way to let your community know about your business.

A local newspaper once contacted me to do an article about the nonprofit organization I founded. After the article ran I received a call from a small, women’s church-based organization that wanted to hear my personal business story. I gave a 15-minute speech, handed out marketing materials, thanked my audience and left.

Within two weeks the nonprofit received more than $10,000 in cash and in-kind donations from various local contributors. The interesting thing is that only one small donation actually came from the church group – all the other donations came by word-of-mouth. That is, the women I spoke to had relayed my story to others who then made contributions.

Contact local churches, community groups, associations, and organizations, Rotary clubs, and trade associations -- even schools and colleges to see if they are interested in having you as a volunteer guest speaker.

Lace Front Wigs

The Lace front wig cap construction consists of lace in the front and a wefted lace cap with adjustable straps in the back. Human Hair is attached to the Lace base. The hair can be washed, flat Ironed and styled as desired. Lace front wigs cannot be worn in high ponytail because of the wefted cap construction in the back. The lace in front goes to the middle portion of head and a realistic part can be made up to that area. Lace front wigs are less expensive because of their cap construction and are perfect for the client who is looking to have a wig which can be taken on and off on a daily bases with the optional choice of glue or tape.

Full Lace Wigs

Full Lace wig hair systems are the ultimate choice for your lace wig needs. A full lace cap has human hair hand tied into the base with stretch in the middle and baby hair around the perimeter. This wig can be parted throughout from front to back, the fine lace creates a look of "hair growing out of your scalp”. The hair can be worn in high and low ponytails and can be flat ironed, washed and styled as desired. No one will ever know that the realistic looking full lace wig is not your own hair. This lace wig must be attached with Glue, Tape, Wig Combs Or Clips.

Glueless Lace Wigs

Glueless Full lace wig hair systems are constructed with a full lace cap with stretch in the middle and adjustable straps in the back. This unit also has baby hair around the perimeter and can be worn in a high ponytail. The wig can be parted from front to back and has the appearance of "hair growing out of the scalp”. The hair can be worn in a high ponytail and can be flat ironed, washed and styled as desired. This unit does not require glue to be attached and can be applied and removed as desired.

Types of Hair loss

There are many types of female hair loss - This page explains what they are, and which type affects you.

Generally, women find any form of hair loss much more embarrassing than men. As such, they are far less likely to accept it, and much more likely to seek treatment for it.

The treatment required for one type may differ from another, so it's important to seek professional advice and find out exactly what type you have.

What Type of Female Hair Loss do You Have?

Hair loss often has a genetic connection and, as such, can affect both men and women. But, whilst the vast majority of men will experience androgenic alopecia (male pattern baldness), for women it's a bit more complicated.

Most types of hair loss are also connected to hormones in some way. And women have a greater fluctuation in their hormone levels than men (due to menstruation, pregnancy and the menopause). It follows that, whilst statistically fewer women experience hair loss than men, they tend to be affected by more types.

So, let's look at these different types of female hair loss.

Telogen effluvium

Up to 50% of all women may experience significant hair loss by the age of 60. Chronic telogen effluvium (CTE) is the second most common type of hair loss after androgenic alopecia and, between them, these two types account for as much as 95% of all female hair loss cases.

Telogen effluvium can be connected to many things including nutritional deficiency. This deficiency is largely due to iron depletion (from menstruation cycles). It can build up slowly over many years and lead to CTE. Vegetarians might also experience CTE (including men).

Telogen effluvium is evenly distributed (diffuse) thinning across the entire scalp (i.e., not just the crown of the scalp). And, because this thinning isn't just confined to one area, telogen effluvium is not normally obvious to other people.

But, just because you might be the only one who knows about it, doesn't necessarily make it any more acceptable.

Androgenetic alopecia

As stated earlier, androgenic (or androgenetic) alopecia mostly affects men. However, as the name suggests, this type involves genetic inheritance, and so can be passed on from parent to child (both male and female).

It also involves androgens. These potent hormones are produced by women in much smaller quantities than they are in men. However, they can still affect a women's body. As such, androgenic alopecia is also a form of female hair loss.

Alopecia areata

If your hair falls out literally overnight and in clumps, it's probably alopecia areata. Alopecia totalis and alopecia universalis are also types of alopecia areata. Alopecia areata causes incredible distress to those it affects. This horrifying disease can be extremely rapid and extensive.

Traction (friction) alopecia

Braids, clips and other hair accessories can, to an extent, literally pull your hair out! Over time, ponytails, cornrows, even excess brushing or combing can also cause this type of female hair loss. If you want to find out more,

Chemotherapy hair loss

This form of hair loss is due to the powerful chemicals used to treat various forms of cancer. Whether or not chemotherapy is the best form of treatment depends upon the type and extent of the cancer involved. As such, chemotherapy may lead to both male and female hair loss.

African American Lace Wigs

Many women of African American ethnicity are experiencing thinning of the edges due to extensive long tern wear of hair extensions, braids and chemical processing. Our lace wigs come in a variety of styles giving you the ability to let your own hair relax and grow back. Many clients keep their own hair in it's natural state and wear lace wigs styling them as they wish. If you are an African American woman who is searching for a company with understanding of African American hair textures and styles then contact Ego Extensions.

(Please note all clients may not have hair grow while wearing lace wigs each person’s form of hair loss is different.)

Hair Care Instructions for Full Lace Wigs

Company Product Suggestion: Avanti Silicon Mix

1. Keep the hair clean. We suggest that you wash the hair at least once or twice a week with warm or cold water. Please wash the hair immediately after swimming, spa, exercise, and etc. When dirt and sweat accumulate, hair tangles. Too much leave-in conditioners and other hair care products will create a build up on the hair and will cause it to tangle faster. If the hair feels dry or heavy with build up, wash it with good shampoo & conditioner.

2. Before washing the hair, spray mixture of conditioner and water and brush the hair from bottom up. You must gradually wet the hair down and brush it gently before you completely wash the hair. If the hair is very dry and a lot of water is added at once, hair will swell up like sponge and tangle! Therefore, it is important to gradually wet the hair and brush it.

3. After wetting the hair, add shampoo and conditioner and brush thoroughly. Be sure to wash and brush the hair in one direction. Rinse the hair completely with water and towel dry. It is best to air dry the hair but you can also blow-dry with low to medium heat.

4. Make sure you brush the hair daily and apply some leave-in conditioners so that the hair is soft and moist. A good leave-in hair treatment can keep the hair from drying. But remember not to put too much otherwise there will be a build up and make the hair feel too heavy. If the hair feels too dry or heavy with too much hair care products, you should wash the hair completely by following steps 2 and 3.

5. When swimming, always wear a cap to prevent prolong exposure to chlorine or salt water which causes the hair to tangle. Always wash the hair right away with shampoo and conditioner after swimming in both types of water. When going to the spa, the hair should be brushed out completely and should be wrapped in a cold wet towel.

6. Make couple of big braids when going to sleep, swim, or exercise (please untangle the hair before making the braids). NEVER SLEEP ON WET HAIR. Make sure the hair is completely dry before going to bed.

7. You can also make a leave-in conditioner at home by diluting conditioner (10%) with water (90%). Apply the mixture lightly onto your hair and brush the hair from the end to the top near the scalp. Although it is important to apply leave-in conditioners to keep the hair from dryness, it is important to keep the hair clean by washing the hair about twice a week so that it will not create a build up.

8. It would be advisable NOT TO TINT, COLOR, PERM OR DO ANY EXTRA CHEMICAL PROCESSES because it has already been treated. Please be extra careful with blonde and other light colored hair. They are more chemically processed than the dark hair. Therefore, we will not be responsible for the outcome.

9. Please check the hair before you use the hair. Be certain that the hair texture, color, length, and quality are what you want. We will not be responsible for the hair if it is not in original condition. For the WET & WAVE hair such as the French Refined and the European Wave, you may test the curl by wetting a small portion away from the rest. Place the hair on a desk, pull a small portion away from the rest, spray some water, and let it soak for about 15 seconds. Hold the top of the hair while it is on the desk and gently brush the wet portion from the bottom and watch it wave. Towel dry and scrunch it to wave up more.

10. Some hair comes out form the wefts easier than others (e.g. silky hair). In cases like this, you may glue or reinforce the weft before putting it on.

Washing & Conditioning your Hair System
Shampooing and conditioning your hair system is not like shampooing your natural hair. Rubbing shampoo into your hair system as if it were naturally growing hair will cause the hair to tangle.
Here's the step-by-step method we've found best for giving your hair system a professional shampooing and conditioning.
The method we recommend will prevent tangling, and can be performed either on a plastic head mold or when you're wearing your system in the shower.

Step 1 : Start by taping the hair system itself to the plastic mold, then use the brush to comb out any tangles in the hair itself.
Step 2 : Next, fill a spray bottle with a mixture of water and shampoo. Make sure the mixture is thin enough to spray effectively (try a 50%/50% mixture).
Step 3 : Spray the shampoo/water mixture onto the hair system.
Step 4 : Then comb the shampoo into the hair. Repeat the process as needed.
Step 5 : Finally, rinse the shampoo out of the hair with lukewarm tap water. Comb out any remaining shampoo with the brush.

Help with Washing your Hair System
Now that you've shampooed your hair system, we can begin conditioning it. The steps are exactly the same.
Step 6 Fill a spray bottle with a conditioner/water mixture. Again make sure the mixture is thin enough to spray easily.
Step 7 : Spray the conditioner/water mixture onto the hair system.
Step 8 : Then comb the conditioner into the hair. Repeat the process as desired.
Step 9 : Rinse the conditioner out of the hair with lukewarm tap water.
Step 10 : If you're wearing the hair system, use a towel to blot out (not rub out) the excess water. Comb and style the hair and let it sit to dry. If you want to use a hair dryer make sure it's set on a gentle setting and isn't too hot.

Teen Girls Need (and DESERVE) L. O. V.E. Speaks To The Mind & Heart,

This review is from: Teen Girls Need L.O.V.E. (Paperback)

Who doesn't want to feel special? No matter what we say, everyone wants to be understood, appreciated and loved. Sometimes, though, we get so lost and absorbed in ourselves to notice the younger ones that are coming up after us and the guidance they need. For them, especially the young girls, author S. Dodson has written TEEN GIRLS NEED L.O.V.E.

The book uses the author's own background and experiences as a way of addressing the fact of how alone some might feel in their experiences, there are others around who understand the challenges they are facing. Whether it is peer pressure or just growing into your own skin, the book allows the readers to not just take in the information but share their own voice on the pages as well. The author even goes into the top of moving forward in life, making plans for the future and understanding that goals and success are different for everyone.

I understand S. Dodson's reason for directing this book to teen girls, but I believe that young men can relate to what she says as well. I especially appreciated the time she took to talk about the importance of being careful about those in your inner circle and the voices we allow to shape the things we say and do. Negative energy is contagious, and if young people or adults for that matter engage in unhealthy association, it will do much to destroy their relationships with others and even themselves.

Presented thoughtfully and with practical points that are easy to understand and apply, TEEN GIRLS NEED L.O.V.E is a winner that speaks to the mind and the heart of the reader.

I love rice and beans!  When made lovingly and tasty, it is high on my list of comfort foods!  Besides being delicious, I also found interesting is that having rice and beans can save you money, duckets and dinero! Per Dave Ramsey, you can get out of debt you by eating “beans and rice, rice and beans!”  Rice and beans’ basic ingredients ~ rice and beans ~ are common, affordable and available when times are hard.

The great thing about rice and beans is a staple in most ethnic cuisine, mainly Caribbean, Mexican and Indian dishes (from Wikipedia):
By dining on rice and beans, it becomes a complete protein in your body while helping to keep some money in your pocket.  Also, it is the probably one of the foods to eat to support your hair, skin and nails!

So, what makes rice and beans great for our hair, skin and nails?  When rice and beans are separate, their protein makeup is incomplete – both containing essential amino acids but one or two of the essential amino acids are too low to count.  Whereas, by combining rice with beans, it comes a complete protein!  Protein supports and maintains our blood, organs, muscles, hair, skin, and nails. For example:  Blood contains plasma proteins; hemoglobin has a protein component; proteins are components of some antibodies; many hormones are proteins (like insulin).

From Wikipedia – “While simple, the dish is very nutritious. Rice is rich in starch, an excellent source of energy. Rice also has iron, vitamin B and protein. Beans are also protein-rich, and contain a good amount of iron and other necessary minerals, and the consumption of the two in tandem provides all the essential amino acids.”

Now, by adding coconut to your rice and bean dish, it becomes the best foods to eat for your hair, skin and nails!

Why coconut? Coconut is revered for its ability to nourish the hair, scalp, skin and nails.  Coconut has so many uses!  You eat the coconut meat, drink coconut milk or cook with it, fry foods with coconut oil, use it as a hair conditioner, rub it on your cuticles and rub it on your skin!  Per http://www.organicfacts.net, “the health benefits of coconut oil include hair care, skin care, stress relief, maintaining cholesterol levels, weight loss, increased immunity, proper digestion and metabolism, relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV and cancer, dental care, and bone strength. These benefits of coconut oil can be attributed to the presence of lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid, and its properties such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, soothing, etc.”

In my opinion, the best dish you can eat to nourish your hair, skin and nails is: Jamaican Rice and Peas!  I love cooking Jamaican Rice and Peas because it has coconut milk, rice and beans which is so beneficial for our bodies.  Plus, Jamaican Rice and Peas is a great vegetarian dish to serve to your family!  If you like to have my recipe, click the bold title below.

Jamaican Rice and Beans!

So, enjoy your bowl of Rice and Beans!  Better for your health and better for your wallet!

PS – Don’t forget to leave a comment below. Love to hear what is your favorite beans and rice dish!
