My mother and father would say, “What goes on in the house stays in the house.” Maybe your parents told you the same thing. So therefore, we grow up and become stingy. We don’t want to share. We say things like, “I don’t want anyone to know my business.” What business? Your business is somebody business because somebody has gone through you have been through. I recall having a conversation with a friend who said “Women should never go buy a car or furniture without a man.” Now for me that was some illogical thinking. With those beliefs and others we begin to lose sight of what is inside speaking to us and learn to listen to those individuals who believe they know what’s right for us. Let’s put them away forever and begin to listen to that inner spirit, that God spirit that says, “Whatever we want, need, or desire can be obtained.” Why? Because our Daddy, (yes, I like to call him Daddy) said so.The Bible talks about having FAITH as a small as a mustard seed and being able to say to a mountain move and it shall be moved. (Mat. 17:20). That’s some strong Faith. Well, I am here to tell you mothers, daughters, and sisterfriends, inside of you lives that same kind of faith. The minute you bring it to the surface, change will take place.Change takes place when you get sick and tired of being sick and tired. It takes place when you get tired of doing the same thing day in and day out. It takes place when you get tired of those temporary fixes. It takes place when your emotional bank balance becomes overdrawn. It takes place when you have grounded yourself spiritually and began having FAITH. Da plane boss, da plane. Do you remember that line from the opening of the old Fantasy Island TV show? Do you find yourself searching the sky? I do every time somebody claims we are living in post-racial America.Let's take a reality break folks, Barrack in the White House not withstanding; this is still America the fractured, the unjust, the racist. But we've come so far; things are so much better. Better than what? It's kinda like saying we can't cure the cancer, but we can give you enough mind altering drugs to suppress your pain - you're gonna die, but you won't feel a thing.Obama is the banner folks fly to illustrate the illusion of a healed America. Everybody was up in arms because the Prez said the Cambridge police acted "stupidly." Did you notice that nobody commented on what he said just previous to that remark? He said, "I mean if I was trying to jigger in to...well I guess this is my house now, so it probably wouldn't happen. But say my old house in Chicago...um here I'd get shot." Mr. President is keenly aware that if he were attempting to sneak into the house the American people bequeathed to him for the next four years...ya'll understand.The day following Obama's provocative observation, the KKK and the New Black Panther Party were embroiled in conflict in Paris Texas. Why? A young African American man died in an automobile dragging incident. The accused, a young Caucasian man with a criminal record, was initially charged with murder, but the case was dropped due to lack of evidence. Many African Americans were outraged that this man should go free in this oft labeled "hate crime." Fact: These two young men were friends, so close that the deceased once perjured himself in attempt to prevent the accused from being incarcerated in an unrelated incident. Did the white man murder the black one? We'll never know; not enough evidence. Was there hate between them at the time of the black man's death? May-be; life happens even among friends. What we do know, should we chose to be honest, were it a hateful moment or not, the issue had nothing to do with skin color. A little farther south in Irving Texas, on the same afternoon, the city government was looking for ways to circumvent a court order to reframe their voting districts to equitably represent the city's large Hispanic population. Reverend Jeremiah Wright incited a fire storm by damning America the racist. I wondered then and I wonder now, why are we unable and unwilling to face the realities of the chasms still dividing us? Folks, we can't fix what we won't face. Truth? Truth? Could it be we can't handle the truth?Hold up. Before you jump on this bandwagon, you better find out where it's going. Few white people are still openly racist; never mind it's not politically correct, the real is they don't have to be. We be hating ourselves with unparalleled expertise and venom. Today, just today, I've talked to no less than 3 African Americans who have "given up" on the community. Why? Well...one said because Black folks have a crab in a barrel mentality; always trying to pull each other down into the fire. I wonder if it ever occurs to these haters and naysayers that when you point a finger, four are pointing right back at you.Consider that if you are or think you are in the position to pour salt on a brother or sister; it is likely you are more in need of straightening than the person you have your negative, counterproductive mouth on. “Passion, where are you?” I cried out but there was no answer. Where was Passion, I had been searching for her for days but she seem to have disappear. Again, I cried out, “Passion where are you?” The silences persist. She was as quiet as a mouse. I could not hear her.Passion had always been there. I would wake up with Passion, go to sleep with Passion, travel with Passion but suddenly she seem to be dead. There was nothing stirring, no creativity was flowing, quietness seemed to enter the room and all I could hear was the thoughts in my head. Passion was really not here. I heard the voice in my head say, “Passion’s on vacation.” “What do you mean Passion’s on vacation?” I asked the voice with disturbance in my tone. “She can’t take a vacation right now. I need her.” Silence once again fell upon the room.Maybe I just need to be still, I thought. Perhaps a day or two to rest and soon Passion will be back from vacation and I can get back on track. “So you think.” I heard the voice in my head say. “A day or two to rest, you will need more than that. Don’t you know that Passion is tired? She has no more energy, you drain her and now you expect her to keep going. You have lost your mind.” Why was this voice in my head talking to me? I was not interested in what thoughts this voice had to say, I had things to do and Passion was messing up the program. Suddenly that voice in my head open its big mouth again. This time it was screaming at me.“Are you crazy?! Perhaps you have to be taken out before you realize you need to rest. Did you forget about that lump you sit on every day because it won’t go up or come down?” “Oh that, I said to the voice in my head, is just a little constipation. With a good laxative, I will be fine.” “Sure you will,” said the voice in my head. “That’s why you haven’t had a BM yet and that little laxative didn’t help. If it had you would not be thinking about an enema right now.” Now this voice in my head needed to shut up. It has TMI (too much information) and I am a bit tired of listening to it. With faith and patience, this too shall pass.Soon to be released....
