Coach is back with a brand new blog post! This time he’s discussing goal setting and how you can get back on track for 2012. Be sure to tell Coach your goals for the remainder of the year in the comments, and let’s have an explosive second half of 2012!

Journey back to New Year’s Eve. A typical scenario is at home with your family and kids, maybe some close friends. You share a nice dinner together for the last time that year. Then, you cuddle up on the couch. The fire cackles in the background as you sip coffee and reminisce about the previous year. You watch the coverage from New York City waiting anxiously for the ball to drop signifying the beginning of a new year. Then someone says it: My New Year’s resolution is…

So many times the end of that sentence will be to lose weight or make more money this year. Sometimes it will just be to have a good year. So, how’d you do this year? My guess would be that you may be a little behind or even given up all together on your goals. The reason is because you didn’t set clear enough goals that are measurable. If you want to lose weight, how much weight? If you want to make more money, how much money?

It is so important to set good goals for yourself that are stretchingly realistic and measurable. You don’t want to set a goal that is too easy, but yet you don’t want to set a goal that is too hard. You want to be in the middle somewhere that will push you to work a little bit harder.

Now, you might be wondering why Coach is talking about goals in July. Well, your goals help you to keep your drive. When things aren’t going the way you would like, think about your goal to get through it. You should always know what you’re working towards. Take a few minutes to evaluate your goals from New Year’s Eve. How can you make them measurable if they’re not? Were your goals too easy? Were they too hard? Now, let’s set some new goals for the remainder of the year. Here’s how I set my goals. I have a process that I follow in a specific order. It’s like in baseball; you wouldn’t try to score by running to third base from home plate.

To score a run, you start by running to first base. First base is where you will take inventory of where you’re at in your life. For example, you can look at where you are financially and decide on where you want to be next year. Don’t just say that you would like to do better next year. Decide on a specific number based on what you had done last year and make it a little higher than what you think you could do this year.

If you’re broke right now, set a goal to make $50,000. If you are making a substantial amount of money, try to double or triple it. There is a psychological advantage of having an actual number for your mind to grasp and actively work towards. Your mind doesn’t grasp, “I want to make more money.” Start making and saving money to reach your goals with a specific number in mind.

Once you’ve rounded first base, the next thing to do is decide on a plan of action. What are you going to do to reach your goal? You have to be willing to pay the price. You need to decide how much you are willing to give up for your goal and what it will take to reach it.

Once you’ve rounded second and are sprinting to third, you have to establish a date. That’s another reason why I love to set goals at the beginning of the year. The date for the end of my goals is at the end of that year. I also establish check points through out the year to make sure I’m on pace to hit my goal at the end of the year. I like to look at progress monthly. This way I can see precisely that I’m on track or if I need to pick it up a little bit. Put together your plan for the remainder of the year, and then carry it out.

As the Coach is waving you towards home plate, write down your goals and share them with other people. Don’t rely on your memory. That will give you mushy goals. It makes it really easy to let yourself off the hook. Write them down and stick them all over your house. Write one on a 3×5 index card to carry around in your pocket, one to put on your bathroom mirror and one for your fridge. Writing your goals down will keep you accountable and will also be a driving force to help you reach your goals. Whenever something doesn’t quite go your way, you can look at that piece of paper and refocus. The little junk in your life will not be a factor because you are actively pursuing your goals and won’t have time to worry about it.

If you will run the bases correctly, you will score. Each year that you score, you will be working towards your larger goal of winning the game: the game of finding success! ~ Coach

The first-time Farmington Hills, Michigan Social Media and Online Video 101 Laptop Workshop held on June 30 in the Detroit area empowered and inspired Baby Boomers to get their Social Media Swagger on

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul 03, 2012 -
Social Media Day 2012 tallied in around the world about 455 communities and 4499 members in its meetup.com community.

That’s just on meetup.com – typically where the social media enthusiasts and “early adopters” hang out.

But what about those who are not early adopters and are just trying to “get” what social media is really all about? Who speaks to them?

In metro Detroit, it’s Pam Perry, Clara Wilkerson and Bob Ivory – all baby boomers who have leveraged their traditional media careers to reinvent their businesses via social media.

Bob Ivory, of Ivory Coast Communications, led the charge, see this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Px7CyIn-xIk&feature=plcp

“We wanted to show Baby Boomers or those not used to technology some quick tips and tricks on how to make social media work for them – and inspire them to really take social media marketing seriously, said Pam Perry, an award-winning social media strategist and public relations coach, the event’s organizer.

“Boomers feel left behind because everything is moving and changing so fast online. No one takes the time to show them how and why social networking is important for business and building their personal brand online,” said Perry.

The three-hour workshop showed inspirational videos, went over the basics of each social media platform and why/how to use each one.  Perry did a “brand” check on each person and challenged them to set up a page while in the session.

Cynthia Grant Brown an attendee at the social media day event in Farmington Hills had this to say: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=KBQ...

Special guest, Khaliph Young, City of Detroit Digital Strategist, told the attendees “if you don’t include social media as part of your marketing and messaging with your audiences – you’re going to be irrelevant in the future. Even Detroit Mayor Dave Bing has a Twitter account – we have to stay connected to the community.”

The event got high marks overall and one attendee, Rev. Ortheia Barnes, a pastor and TV personality in Detroit, said, “My head was swimming with ideas during the session.  I immediately put some of them to test after the event and I got over 50 responses back on social media – some as far as Mexico. It’s working.”

The plans for the 2013 Social Media Day in Farmington Hills, Michigan are underway and presenters are already being scheduled.

Social Media PR Solutions, named after the parent company, Ministry Marketing Solutions, gave every attendee a free ebook and 30 minutes of follow up coaching after the event.

“I wanted to make sure everyone clearly understood the why and how of social media and for them to share the information among their associates. Social networking with confidence or swagger is our goal. So next year, we’ll be learning and celebrating on Social Media Day,” said Perry.

We Are Superwomen!

Superwoman.jpg

Yes! I said it and You can take it to the Bank! If you're a man reading this at some point I'll write a post on Supermen, but today it's all about the Superwomen!

I was going through the net and I came across a site on which my blog was associated with photography! What! this just made me laugh because it just reminded me of how much people can misconstrue, what you do and who you are!

I obviously love great images because they lend to your writing and in most cases I choose images associated to the topic I'm writing about, other times I see an image I like and write a post in relation to it, the former is normally the case and just in case anyone's wondering my interest is not in photography.

I really hate labels or the idea that you can only be one thing because I believe that there are many dimensions to a person, but if you want to label me call me Superwoman! Yes I said it and I'm Flying through Life without wings!
If I have to put a label on it more than anything else this blog is about Self Belief and living your best life. This simply means that you follow your intuition, natural talents and see the Almighty at work. Additionally it's my creative expression.

I'm just not moved or inspired to write about who's sleeping with the other, or who's currently got beef with whoever! I'm just not that bothered (I know it makes good reading!) but I do care about all the women out there who are doing wonderful things in and with their lives, with or without recognition!

I call them Superwomen because life knocks them down again and again in so many ways, shapes and forms but they just carry on carrying on, often times they have no one to complain to but the Almighty.

They posses super powers of endurance and tenacity to deal with and accept whatever life deals them! normally with grace and perseverance. They engage in battles big and small!, They Fly without Wings!

These Superwomen are; Mothers, Sisters, Aunties, Cousins, Friends, Grandmothers, Women you meet along the way. Women you see from afar.

Everyone knows a Superwoman and knows exactly what I'm talking about!

If You come across a Superwoman, show her some, love and respect!

To All the Superwomen out there, here's to Flying in High Heels! More Grease to Your Elbows!

One Thing You Want? 2012 Mid Year Resolutions
It's 6 months into 2012 and 4th of July is just hours away, what is one thing you want for your business come December? Before I say anymore, let me say this ... Don't take this question lightly. There is power in the words that we speak. What you claim today will be your destiny for tomorrow, so take a minute from the busy todos of today and declare your vision.

I'll start...
By December 2012 I want to plug at least 5 wholes in my business. You know what wholes are right? Those little things you keep saying you are going to do (that can really make an impact on your day to day), but somehow they keep getting pushed to the bottom of your list of priorities. One of my biggest accomplishments last year was creating SistaSense in Print Magazine (an idea I always though about). This year I dared to dream even bigger and host my first 3 day workshop, She Rocks the Web.

Think about what you dare to do by December. Think it, speak it, write it, remember it, and make it happen! I've got a few more months to make magic happen. What's one thing you want?

Stop The Violence - Changing The Mindset Of Humanity
On 09-09-2012 ministers from around the country and all around around the world will change the mindset of humanity with the most important sermon of their careers as they preach the word "Stop The Violence" taken from the lyrics of the International Stop the Violence theme song and sharing with their congregation from the theological point of view as well as relating stories from the Bible. The spirit of GOD will fill churches worldwide like never before and when the people go back to into their communities and spread the message about "Stop The Violence" the spirit of non-violence will move through society and change the lives of millions of people. I want all ministers to video their sermon and mail it to KCPI T.V. 524 Brice Street, Baton, Rouge, Louisiana 70802 where they will be aired from September 9th through October 9th leading up to the National Crime Symposium which will be held at the New Orleans Marriot Hotel. So join us in this life changing experience. Also go to You Tube type in Chili Most Fight For Your Rights or click on to the link below and check out the video. It's the theme song for the upcoming Presidential Election. It's a must that everybody especially our youth see this video then twitter and blog all of their friends to plant the seed about VOTING because the best way to "Fight For Your Rights" is to VOTE. Okay, so you've built or have paid someone to build this beautiful website but you are about the only visitor to the website.  Not good.  So here’s the deal.  Website visitors don’t appear out of nowhere. You have to drive people to your website and not just any people either.  You want to drive people to your website who are your prospective customers; the people who want, need and can afford your goods and services.  So here are three things you must do:

1. Ensure Search Engine Optimization (SEO).  You must make sure that the pages of your website contain key words and key phrases that your target market will most likely use to find your business.  There are a lot of free tools that will help you decide what those key words and phrases are.  Here are a couple of those tools:

Submit Express

Google Adwords

I suggest devoting individual pages to key words and key phrases.  For example, if you offer business services such as bookkeeping and virtual assistance to home-based and small business, you should devote pages containing articles and other helpful information for both of these services.  Just be sure you don’t overdo it because prominent search engines like Google will accuse your site of stuffing key words and you don’t want that.  Here’s a nifty free tool to help you with keyword density:  Live Keyword Analysis.

2. Get Inbound Links to Your Website.  The goal is to get quality websites to link back to your website.  This isn’t easy but it is critically necessary.  Here are some ways to do it:

• Make sure you offer good, quality and helpful content to your website.  If people like what they see and find your content helpful, they’ll link to your website or refer others.

• Write blog posts on other people’s blogs.  You know those Ning sites you joined?  You have the ability to create blog posts on those.  What about those great articles you find on Forbes Magazine or Black Enterprise Magazine, post a comment that adds useful information and provide a link back to your website.  You have the ability to post a note on Facebook on your business page; provide a link back to your website within the Facebook note. Be a guest blogger for someone or just post meaningful content to other people's blogs that your target market reads.

• Submit your website to free directories such as:  Localeze.com (search for your business; if it’s listed, click on “Add a listing” link),Superpages.com (look in upper right-hand corner for a powder blue button – “Add Your Free Listing”).

3. Add Meta and Title Tags to Your Website.  Search engines look at Meta tags to tell what the page’s content is about.  Make sure Meta tags are put on every single page of your website – time consuming but darn well worth it.  If someone built your website for you, ask them to insert Meta and title tags on each and every page.  This is one of the services which should be included in the price they charged to build your website.  If you built your website yourself, you can add the tags yourself; the editor you used will have an area for you to add Meta and title tags.

Please feel free to use this article in your newsletter, on your website or blog.  However, the following byline must be included in its entirety and the article must not be edited in any form and must be presented exactly as it appears here.
