Your Business Commercial

30 Second Business CommercialHave a compelling response to the question "What do you do?" or "Tell me about you" Make it brief and interesting. If you only have 30 seconds, give them enough of an idea about what you do so that they seek you out to hear more lately. Even in a situation where you have more time, be brief but to the point and then allow them to ask questions. Their questions will give you an idea of their particular interest.Join Groups and NetworkJoin or create a leads exchange group. Find or create a group that has members with businesses aimed at a similar target market to yours. Job seekers find others looking in the same industries. If you join a group where everyone markets to consumers and you market to businesses, you probably won't be able to give or get many leads.Use every social occasion as a networking opportunity. Have your business cards ready if someone asks for one.Build Business RelationshipsForm strategic partnerships with others. If there are other businesses related to yours, seek them out and establish your own relationships. For example if you are a wedding planner you will want to form partnerships with florists, photographers, bands, DJs etc. Refer to your strategic partners and they in turn will refer to you. Job seekers find some partners who are at a higher level than you and who when they find jobs will help you find one in their new company. Of course you must plan to do the same for them.TestimonialsMake a list of testimonials from customers to use with potential customers or employers. Make these testimonials part of your brochure and/or website, and have as a separate document to put into proposals.Domain Name & LogoUse a domain name that tells what your business is i.e. bob@bobthebuilder.com. When someone calls Bob they will probably ask him what he builds. The email address itself opens conversation.Create a unique style or logo that makes you memorable. Establish yourself or your logo as a brand so people remember you. Frank Purdue did it as a person. Coca Cola does it as a logo. You can do it too!How do you Market Your Business?

Exemplary Success

What example have you set? What is your legacy? Will others who stand where you once stood be able to follow your path to success? The chronicle of you is more important than you could ever imagine. To give the gift of hope and inspiration to another is priceless. To empower another person to take control of their destiny is an investment in a better future for all of us. To do this we need to set an example for success. A ‘how to” guide of sorts is required. Although there is no set path for everyone, your example will help others recognize the opportunities and choices available to them.It is in the giving of options that true empowerment is found. If we keep our journey to ourselves we are unable to impress upon this world our legacy. It is our legacy that teaches. Exemplary successes are created with a consciousness for tomorrow. We must develop a collection of exemplary figures and a chronicle of their chosen paths to empower the next generation. Entrepreneurs are at the forefront of this community. If you are an entrepreneur or aspire to be one, how will you take record f your successes and experiences? Below are a few suggestions for how you can begin developing a legacy that will impact the world for generations to come.1. Write a book and maintain a hand written account of your plans, experiences and reflections.2. Speak to others about your dream. Tell as many people as you can and ask them to tell others.3. Find a mentor. By finding and making note of those who have come before you, you become a link in the chain of history. The things that we do are examples for everyone. Whether it is a failure or success, it is a teaching tool. More importantly it teaches a lesson that will elude many of us throughout our lifetime. It is the lesson that possibility resides in the seemingly impossible.Lyndsey Shaffer is the co- founder of the Onyx Six - Women of Color Business Network. THE CHRISTMAS POEM

MAN WITH THE GOLDEN WINGSbyVernon J. Davis Jr.It is Christmas Eveand the snow is fallingon a lonely little housein the countryside.Come..., let us go inside and listen. In this house, a little girl lies asleepin her bed.But sleep she doesn't stay, for she'sawaken by a bright light instead. The light comes through her bedroomwindow with warming colors. And when she looks out her window, she sees a man with wings on his back.Golden Wings at that."Mama! Mama! Come look, come see!"The little girl runs out her room as she cries."I just saw a man with Golden Wings outside. He's tall and handsome, with a great big smile. And his arms are full of nice shiny things.Mama, who do you think this man is withGolden Wings?"Slowly her mother looks up from her rocking chair. She is still young with fair eyes, but now has greyhair."Hush girl," She barely speaks in a soft whisper."Don't come runnin in here tellin me noboldface lies.Your mama ain't feeling well, and there ain'tno man with Golden Wings outside.I'se know you'se excited cause Christmasis coming. But, ain't no lying gonna make dawn comea runnin.""But, but mama, I ain't lyin! I did see this manoutside. He, he, had a halo on his head too, to go withhis big smile. His Wings moved slowly to keep the snowoff them, and he wanted to say something to me.But, I ran in here so I could get you to seethis man with Golden Wings.""Honey,...listen, your eyes can play tricks on you.And the snow can make you see things too.I remember when I was excited for Christmasat your age.I saw a giant lion with a great big white beard.Hmp, it was nothing but a dream, but, I surewas scared."The little girl hangs her head and quietly says"Mama, I'm sorry.""Baby, that's all right.""But, listen child, I know we haven'thad much in our way of living. And hardly anyone, nowadays, has beenin the Spirit for giving. But you know I'se tried to make things rightfor both of us, since your daddy died. So, for your daddy, we both have to survive.""Tell me more about daddy, what was he like?""Your daddy was a God-fearing man, who diedbefore you was born. And he died seven years ago on Christmas morn.He was on his way home with presents in his arms, when he was lost in the snow. And he never knew he would have a daughter,He never knew he would be a father.""Was he a nice man?""Of course he was.""But enough of this, go on back to bedand get some rest. And when you get up, I'll have you a goodhot breakfast."The little girl gives her mother a hug and whispers"Merry Christmas Mama" and slowly turnsaway."Merry Christmas to you too, sweetheart,"her mother replies while watching her daugther'ssilent strollas she suddenly feels the overwhelmingemptiness of her own lonely soul.Quietly she rises from her rocking chair, walking to her own room with much pain to bear. She climbs into bed, wiping away her tears, and glancing out her window, she feels a slightfear. And when sleep descends on her eyelids, sheasks GOD, "Does anyone really care?"*********************"Mama! Mama! Wake-up, Wake-up! he really washere!"The little girl's voice rings in her mother's ear."Come look, come look, come see for yourself,"she says while pulling and dragging her mother outof bedto see what Christmas day had bred.By the bedroom window laid many pretty giftsnestled comfortably in a glittering snow drift.Toys and clothes all neatly arrayedplaced carefully with Love and Harmonyby the Man with the Golden Wings. But the most surprising gift of allthat the mother only saw...was her husband's wedding ring. She slowly bends down and picks it upwhile her daughter asks"Mama, was He an Angel?""Yes Dear," her Mother replies."And much more. He was your Daddy, come home."It is Christmas Dayand the snow has stopped falling. And the lonely little housein the countryside, for today, isn't so lonely.Vernon J. Sleeping Giant

Dedicated to my dear Sistah, Chanisha...As I have the opportunity to interact with a lot of women, one consistent theme seems to always come up in the conversations. I’ve met women who are gifted and beautiful and talented and feel they have a higher purpose or call, but they have not moved out on that calling. They are stuck in dead-end relationships, dead-end jobs and dead-end situations, but are clueless as to how to get from where they are to where they think they should be.Here are my thoughts: You will NEVER be comfortable or satisfied until you go HARD after your purpose. Yeah, you may have a pretty cool job, but you may feel that it stifles your creativity. Yeah, you may have a pretty cool marriage, but feel that your relationship could go up a few notches. Yeah, you may have the “appearances” of a good life, but you have this internal struggle that’s telling you there is more. I call that internal conflict a Sleeping Giant and that Sleeping Giant in you is begging to be let out. She wants to help you take the world by storm, but you keep her locked away in a nice, neat compartment where she’s safe. Maybe you’re afraid of what others might think, or maybe you’re concerned that you don’t have the training or the finances to carry out your venture. One thing I know for sure is that, although you may have some perceived shortcomings, sitting on your gift & not sharing it is far worse than launching out & trying it. Sure you will have some missteps & make some mistakes. Sure you will have your own personal ‘Hater Board’ that will criticize and judge everything you’re attempting to do. But, so what? Do you want to continue to live a life of mediocrity, discontent, and unfulfillment? Or do you want to live an extraordinary life filled with fulfillment, grace & peace? You decide. All I can tell you is that the world is waiting for the manifestation of your gift.Okay, so nap time is over! Go on and wake that Sleeping Giant up. We’re waiting on you…

Do you own a home-base business? Let’s be honest – many of us who own home-base businesses are focus on marketing and profits. If we don’t get customers, we are headed for failure. In the December 2009 issue of Home Business, there is an article that talks about the Six Sigma.Like many of you – my first question was what is the Six Sigma? Six Sigma process is used to identify issues and opportunities within your business. Each step is used to ensure that your business obtains the best results. It’s a progression from start to finish. This process is used by such companies as Motorola, Home Depot and Toyota to name a few. This is a five step process in which is known as DMAIC.Define: We must define our customers, their issues and core processes which involves these issues. Also project boundaries including mapping the flow of the process, stop of the process must be defined.Measure: We must measure the performance of the core of our business process. This involves the collections of data to determine defects and metrics in the processes. Once this data is collected it is compared to customer surveys to determine shortfalls.Analyze: The data collected and the processed used to identify gaps between current performance and ideal performance. This involves prioritizations of issues and opportunities for improvement and reasons for observed variations.Improve: This process will target the development of innovative solutions using technology and discipline to correct identifies issues to prevent problems.Control: Involves the improvements by developing, documenting and implementing and ongoing plan to monitor changes and prevent employees from regressing back to their old ways of conducting themselves. To find out more about Six Sigma process, pick your issue today and change the way you do business.

The One Minute Manager.

(article)Review of the book The One Minute Manager, provided by BLP participant Eric SpamerThe One Minute Managerby Kenneth Blanchard and Spencer JohnsonSummaryThe One Minute Manager reveals three secrets to productive and efficient managing as told through a young man's search for the perfect managing and leading skills. The One Minute Manager is focused on, not surprisingly, a one minute manager. The man is a venerable leader that is highly spoken of by his employees, his three secrets being the key to his success. The first secret is One Minute Goals. This involves a meeting of the manager and the employee where goals are agreed on, written down in a brief statement, and occasionally reviewed to ensure that productivity is occurring. This whole process takes a "minute", which truly means it is a quick meeting, however it is not limited to just sixty seconds. The purpose of one minute goal setting is to confirm that responsibilities of each working is understood, understanding that confusion leads to inefficiency and discouragement. The second secret to one minute managing is one minute praisings. This involves being open with people about their performance. When you catch someone doing something right, a goal of the one minute manager, you praise them immediately, telling them specifically what they did correctly. Pause to allow them to "feel" how good you feel regarding their importance to the organization, and finish by shaking hands. The third secret is the one minute reprimand. Being honest with those around you involves reprimanding when a wrong has occurred. The first step is to reprimand immediately and specifically. This is the same as the second secret, and it holds an important aspect of the first secret: it enables an understanding of responsibilities and how to complete them correctly. Following the reprimand, shake hands and remind the person that he or she is important and it was simply their performance that you did not like. The one minute reprimand consists of the reprimand and the reassurance, both being equally important. If you leave the latter out, you will not be liked by those around you and they will attribute mistakes to them being worth less, which is far from the truth.RecommendationThe One Minute Manager is a quick read that emphasizes key points throughout. The message is clear, and implementing the ideas is straight-forward and laid out in the book. This makes it simple to utilize the knowledge and techniques that the one minute manager style offers. Due to these factors, I find The One Minute Manager an effective tool for developing leadership.

Statistics show that every month your business is not in contact with your customers, you lose 10% of your influence with them. Do the math!. Following your promtings can bring joy to someone.

Following your promtings can bring joy to someone."I started using Send Out Cards in October of 2008. As a business plan writer, I have incorporatedit into every new business I have helped launch. From restaurants to gift basket business, to mortgage companies; every single user I have trained who put our wsystem into action saw incredible growth in their business. I have not missed a birthday or anniversary of anyone important to me. It has improved my relationships with people who thought I was too busy to care. SendOut Cards has improved my life in ways I never thought of". "After joining SendOut Cards, I was determined to make it a habit to send out at least one card everyday. After the first couple of weeks, I noticed a change that was taking place within myself. I was actually looking for good things in others so I could send them a card. This growing positive persective started to spread to other area's in my life. I am becoming more aware of the needs of others and less caught up in my own problems. I am making life happen and contributing to others. It feels fantastic! "I will be back tomorrow , to let you know how you can send two free cards to someone special in your life.........Oh yes, I received a letter from St Judes Hospital today, and the letter was really nice. They were thanking me for sending greeting cards to all the sick children there.....It really touch my heart. And made me feel proud to make someone's day! Giving always makes a difference!See you soon!

Accessories Galore!!!!!!!!

Today I want to discuss a few basic must haves as far as accessories. Okay ladies I know most of us have tons of accessories that we have collected over the years, but today lets just talk about the ones that I think are must haves.Hoop earrings have been around for decades and they never go out of style. There are all sort of styles. There are diamond, gold, silver, bamboo, beaded, and the new trend yarn. The list goes on and on. Now there is a science to wearing hoop earrings. I have actually purchased some and brought them home thinking they would look great and they did not because the shape of my head lol. I personally cannot wear the really large hoop earrings. I can wear medium sized to the smallest. So before purchasing hold the earrings up to your ears to see if they are the right fit. The prices of these earrings can range from $1.99 to $1,000. I found wearing your hair up or big curly hair can also make a difference on how you rock these earrinss. A crisp white t-shirt, a pair of your fav jeans, hair up in a messy bun or big curly hair can totally complete the whole style. You can purchase from any retail store.Next are a set of bangles. I can remember wearing bangles as a young child (flashback- I know yall remember the little medal ones that came in different colors) lol yeah the ones I used to get came in a little plastic purse or pouch.Bangles are just the right touch when wearing a bohemian style look. And also you can get these at any retail store locally or online.Until recently you would'nt think of a scarf as a "fashion accessory". They were mainly used to keep your neck warm in the winter lol. But they have found their way as one of the top fashion accessories that you can have. The scarf can be seen worn in the summer, spring, fall, basically all year. You can wear with t-shirts, dress, jackets, without a jacket. I mostly wear my scarf with a t-shirt and jeans just a way to make a simple outfit a little jazzy. The oversized boho purse. I personally think every woman should have one large purse. They are just classy and chic. And you can fit everything you need in it. Now maybe a woman that is petite in stature should not get this particular purse in the pic above, but just like with the hoop earrings make sure you measure the purse next to you before you purchase.Lastly the Ballet Flat Shoe. I think this is a must have because this is a well rounded accessory. I mean you can wear this particular style of shoe with jeans, adress, slacks, shorts, dress it up, dress it down you name it. Without a doubt a must have.So this post has come to an end, I mainly chose these accessories because of the fact that they can be worn all year, they go with basically anything, and they are not fads. Meaning they have been around for years..... let me know what your must haves are by simply commenting....God bless ya.

WHY OH WHY!

Somehow I've developed a bad habit of getting in the way of my own success. Several times in my life so far I've started on a calculable path and began to receive good success only to subsequently watch it all dwindle away. As I look back, I can clearly see a few mistakes that I've made consistently that have either created or added to my past failures.1. I've had a horrible habit of being too giving. Many Bible lessons supported by Christians and christian churches at large encourage abandoned giving. ***Now I understand why so few people on my path are abandoned givers; it's because they are not interested in living an impoverished life.2. Another of my bad habits was taking everything too literally. For example, I was taught to give every person the benefit of the doubt until they prove who they truly are, coupled with the lesson that we do best in life by looking only for the good in others. By taking these teachings too literally, I have been swindled, used and abused, had my heart crushed. . . . All because I didn't realize that the adage 'if it looks like a duck, waddles like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it's a duck' was a metaphor. People were constantly being themselves but I was purposely almost defiantly seeing only the good in them. ***Treat a person like his actions (more than his words) dictate.3. Thinking of people more highly than I aught to - akin to lesson number 2. The "fake it till you make it" philosophy has created a boat load of people who over promise and under deliver. Those are the worst kinds of people to do business with. Especially if your product delivery schedule is tied to their word. ***Hate to say it, but in business I've learned that, on average, people who talk a lot lie a lot.4. Procrastination is an enemy of all things good. Funny thing about time, It seems to run faster when we are relaxing and taking breaks than it does while we are working. ***Sleep and relaxation are necessities but not more so than eating and having a roof over your head.5. I have not mastered the art of making the necessary aspects of running a business fun. I'd much rather focus on the fun things - the reasons I started each enterprise in the first place. ***I've learned that three of the biggest/ essential to dos of business success/ survival are: Manage your people, Manage your money, & Manage your time respectively - period. Thanks for taking the time to read about lessons I've learned from life. I hope something you read will encourage you, strengthen you, or give you hope.

SearsJason ThompsonFrank Crump andUma ChallaWe dedicate the whole of this weeks' program to International Mens Day, which is finally and deservedly starting to get more recognition and traction around the world. Warwick Marsh, Dads4Kids Fatherhood Foundation in Australia, who is the Global Coordinator for IMD, set the scene last week on Dads on the Air when he spoke about some of the events taking place in Australia and around the world to celebrate this important International event. Our guests this week are from 3 different continents, representing millions of good and decent men around the globe, who currently witness themselves being publicly and relentlessly maligned on a daily basis. While there are exceptions to every rule, these should never be used to misrepresent the whole group in the way we now see men being portrayed. We commence our International lineup of guests with Australia's Dr Elizabeth Celi quality living who is the keynote speaker at the IMD function to be held at Australian Parliament House in the Nations' Capital, Canberra, on the 19th November. Dr.Celi is a strong supporter of the rights of men to be treated as an equal in a modern society, instead of having to face the daily injustices that confront them in many sectors of our community.Next we speak with Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh from Trinidad in the West Indies, who is the founder of IMD and described the event in the following manner, “International Men?s Day is about addressing the challenges and problems that men face; improving gender relations between men and women; promoting gender equality; highlighting positive male role models – not just movie stars and athletes – but “everyday working class men who are living decent, honest lives”; and creating a safer and better world”.We then speak with Diane A. Sears, IMD Coordinator in the USA, Managing Editor of IN SEARCH OF FATHERHOOD(R), Member of the University Council for Akamai University's Fatherhood and Men's Studies Program, and Director of IN SEARCH OF FATHERHOOD(R)'s International Fatherhood and Men's Issues Internship Program who puts it this way, “We must work together as a team. International Mens Day provides us with a great opportunity. Strong fathers create and sustain efficiently functioning family units which positively shape the minds and souls of our children – our future – our bridge to the future. After all, isn?t it really about our children?”The person responsible for Global Promotions, who is also the Historian and Coordinator for IMD is Australia's Jason Thompson and our next guest, who would like to take this opportunity to ask individuals and organizations who are planning an event to contact him with the details at: soulgany@bigpond.comThe following guest is Frank Crump from the USA and UPI Education, who with IN SEARCH OF FATHERHOOD® have entered into a partnership in observance of International Men’s Day 2009 on Thursday, 19 November 2009. UPI Education is asking students, faculty, and administrators to observe International Men’s Day 2009 through one moment of silence beginning at 11:19 A.M. (EST) and ending at 11:20 A.M. (EST) to commemorate and contemplate the sacrifices and contributions that Men have made throughout the world. UPI Education is also soliciting essays, articles, and poems from students and adults which identify the positive male role models that have influenced their lives. These essays, articles, and poems will be published on IN SEARCH OF FATHERHOOD®’s blog.We conclude our program interviewing one of the hardest working and passionate promoters of equality and justice for all, Uma Challa from India. Uma Challa is the IMD Coordinator for India. She made the point that, “International women?s Day is celebrated the world over every year but we also need to have a celebration every year to recognize and honor men: our fathers, brothers, partners, sons, male friends and colleagues; for the numerous services they render and the innumerable sacrifices they make to ensure the health and well-being of the family and the society.”International Men's Day began on November 19th 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago and was supported by the United Nations. The event received wide support from men's groups in USA, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. Speaking on behalf of UNESCO, Ms. Ingeborg Breines, Director of Women and Culture of Peace said, “This is an excellent idea and would give some gender balance.” She added that her organisation was looking forward to cooperating with organisers of IMD.Objectives of International Men's Day include a focus on men's and boy's health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, and highlighting positive male role models. It is an occasion for men to highlight discrimination against them and to celebrate their achievements and contributions, in particular for their contributions to community, family, marriage, and child care. The November IMD is a significant date as it interfaces the popular 'Movember' charity event and also with Universal Children's Day on Nov 20 with which IMD forms a 48 hour celebration of men and children respectively, and of the special relationships they share. The ability to sacrifice your needs on behalf of others is fundamental to manhood as is honour.Manhood rites of passage the world over recognise the importance of sacrifice in the development of Manhood. Men make sacrifices everyday in their place of work, in their role as husbands and fathers, for their families, for their friends, for their communities and for their nation. International Men’s Day is an opportunity for people everywhere of goodwill to appreciate and celebrate the men in their lives and the contribution they make to society for the greater good of all.During the past ten years methods of commemorating International Men's Day have included public seminars, classroom activities at schools, radio and television programs, Church observances, and peaceful displays and marches. The manner of observing this annual day is optional; any organizations are welcome to host their own events and any appropriate forums can be used. Early pioneers of IMD reminded that the day is not intended to compete against International Woman's Day, but is for the purpose of highlighting men's experiences. Each year a different theme is highlighted, such as peace in 2002, men’s health in 2003, sacrifice in 2008, and positive male role models in 2009. In consultation with organizers from other nations the following broad objectives of IMD are observed: Celebrate manhood and the wonderful positive and valuable contributions our men, young men, and boys make to our communities and to our societies Promote and Support gender equality, encouraging men to address responsibly and positively the challenges facing them in society Demonstrate strength of character and courage in meeting the challenges that men face in society and in contributing to building stronger and better communities, where people can be safe and grow to reach their full potential. Highlighting positive male role models, not just movie stars and sports men but everyday, working class men who are living decent, honest lives.International Men's Day is celebrated in Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Australia, India, United States, New Zealand, Moldova, Haiti, Singapore, Malta, South Africa, Ghana, Hungary, Canada, China, and the United Kingdom. Join us on November 19 in celebrating the contribution men make to those around them, to their family and friends, their work place and the community, the nations and the world.Dads4Kids Fatherhood Foundation is honoured to host the Men's Day website and we invite you to join the global celebrations. Folowing up on your promptings!

Today, I had a prompting....to send a card to St Judes Hospital For Cancer and Lukemia children. I send 10 cards at a time. Five for girl's and five for boy's! It is a really great feeling to send someone a "unexpected card". Normally you go home from work , check your mailbox and what do you get ?????Two things, "bills" and "junk mail" . I have sent unexpected cards to many people, and the reply's areso positive. I get reply's like " Thanks Donna you made my day, Or thanks for the browines you sent me along with the great card. Send Out Cards is a wonderful way to reach out at touch someone's lives! When was the last time you sent a card to someone you care about? Do you think that would make a difference? Or How about a simple thank you or expression of appreciation? Do you think that would make a difference? Question is why do we even want to give greeting cards? To express , our thoughts for the person for whom you purchased the card for right? But, what happens is sometimes we go buy the card, and it never gets delivered .......I know it has happened to me a few times. I still have aChristmas card here, that I bought two years ago.....lol But , now that I use Send Out Cards, it is more of a inconvenice to go to the store , buy a card for two to four dollars, buy the stamp, go mail it....Oh yes, I forgot "the gas you use to go mail the card at the post office! Ok ,yes the typical approach. With SOC you can create a custom card , words you type in yourself, upload a picture on the card if you wish, and click send. From that point your greeting card is mailed to the person you just created the card for.......That's called " convenience"! Even at 10:00 pm at night!Till tomorrow.........
