Five Steps to Improving Your Self EsteemBy: Kimberly S. WareLow self-esteem can keep you from reaching your dreams. Imagine yourself being chained up. The chain represents low self-esteem. You see your doors of opportunity right in front of you. You start to run your opportunity but the chain of low self-esteem keeps you from reaching your fullest potential. Believe in yourself and know that spirit will guide you to your purpose.There are five major steps you can take to build self-esteem. The first step is to stop putting yourself down. Brothers and sisters know that you are special and somebody.Number two start believing and loving yourself. One exercise that helped me over the years is the Louise Hay’s mirror work exercise. What you do is look in a mirror and say it with feeling.” I am beautiful I am special and I am somebody and most of all I love myself.” And it’s OK to say it with an attitude! You must know it, say it, speak it, and believe it!Number three find your purpose. Start looking at some of the things that interests you, such as your hobby. What are you good at? Everyone has a divine gift. My gift is to write and speak. What’s yours? If you don’t know, then you must do some soul searching and eventually you will find out what the creator has put here to do.Number four is to let go of negative people and bad habits. This is what a lot of people have a heard time doing. If the people you associate yourself with are constantly putting you down, calling you outside your name, telling you that you are ugly, stupid, and a nobody and won’t amount to anything then cut them lose. Let these people go. Like the comedian Martin Lawrence always say, “Get The Steppin!” These negative people are not worth it.Number five you must walk out on faith and make your dreams a reality. I took steps to making my dreams a reality when I was eighteen years old; I first started writing my first novel. And you too can start taking steps to making your dreams a reality. You must work it people! Stop seeing yourself as being unattractive and see yourself as a beautiful spiritual being. Overcoming adversity can be very difficult during a time of despair. At first you may feel pain, but over time you must have the strength to overcome any life changing dilemma.Life can be like a roller coaster ride with many ups and downs and twists and turns. You must hold on tight for the bumpy ride. It may be scary at first but don’t give up. Adversity is like an adrenaline rush of being on a roller coaster of feeling fear and uncertainty. Life can be rough and bumpy but just like a roller coaster ride it will come to an end and your particular adversity situation shall too come to past.Don’t feel alone during the time of grief; you are not alone. As human beings we all face an adversity situation in our lives and it is up to us to follow the right path for our particular life situation.Adversity means change. Change is often difficult to face especially when you are trying to stay focused. Adversity can range from anything such as starting a new job, getting a divorce, losing a loved one, or losing a job. In life anything can happen to cause us to have to make a drastic change in our lives. It is up to us to follow in God’s light and have the strength and ability to move on.Four Basic Steps to Dealing with Adversity:1. Ask God for guidance (What to do?)2. Prayer/Meditation (To clear your mind and build faith)3. To release your fears and pain (To gain strength and courage)4. To remember your purpose and get back on track. (To stay focused)It is OK to ask God for guidance. God loves you and will not lead you astray. Most people use prayer and meditation as a way for guidance. Gardener's Apron - Crochet World April 2009

2008 was a busy designing year for me. I had several designs purchased, and now they are being published this year. It is so exciting to see my designs in print.My latest published design is the Gardner's Apron, which is featured in the April 2009 issue of Crochet World Magazine.

Greetings everyone!The first time I heard this parable, I was working in the marketing department for the Mississippi Credit Union System. I had the pleasure to meet one of the top motivational speakers, Mr. Willie Jolley. As part of the marketing team, my job was to ensure he got from point A to point B through parts of a 3 day convention. There were several things he said in route and also in the lobby of the convention, however this parable from him set the core for how we operate."Everyday in Africa a gazelle wakes up knowing he has to out run the fastest lion or get eaten. So it doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle, when the sun comes up you'd better be running"I know many of you have heard this. My first time was then. Marketing controls a large portion of the financial success of any law firm or any business for that matter. Marketing managers are accountable to everyone who receive a paycheck from that business. When marketing has personal problems, has the blues, or wakes up on the wrong side of the bed, the firm or business feels it in their bottom line. It is more than a job. It is the key to everyone's quality of life. Whatever the personal circumstances of the marketing personnel the motto is, When the sun comes up you'd better be running. There is nothing more humbling than seeing a picture of a receptionists or paralegals family on their desk.Marketing does not keep the same hours as the rest of the firm. Operations is structured from 9 to 5. Direct marketing is different from other forms of marketing. Direct marketing requires (Call to action) one-on-one real-time with potential clients and that requires a great deal of the marketers time. (On call 24/7) and ready to change strategies at a moments notice. Heart characteristics are commitment, dedication, and discipline.The drive or heart of marketing must be willing to go that extra mile. The attitude of your marketing team and how they operate affects others. Time, energy, and imagination are vital to marketing success. Everything has to be done in time and well executed. Direct marketing is filled with planning a-lot of mini events. Off timing or bad execution halts momentum of incoming revenue. There will be a drought until the machine is oiled again. Some businesses do not have the luxury or financially stable to re-prime the pump. The heart of a legal marketer must understand what is at stake and treat this as more than just a job. Legal marketers get up running everyday to protect a way of life.If your marketing manager does not identify with this next story, a new marketing manager is needed:There was this Young Creative Inventor who built a wind machine with no motor. He showed it to his Wise Uncle. His Wise Uncle praised him for this one-of-a-kind wind machine. An Investor contacted the Young Creative Inventor and told him he was interested in mass producing his wind machine and said he had only a window of tomorrow at 5:30 to test drive the unique wind machine with no motor.The Young Creative Inventor and his Wise Uncle were excited and then realized there had been no wind in 2 days. They were both nervous at the thought of no wind. They waited to see what the morning would bring. At sun up there was no wind. At 10:00am there was no wind and at 1:30pm the wind report said there would be no wind at 5:30. The Young Creative Inventor became hysterical. Then Wise Uncle told him to calm down and that there would be wind by 5:30. The Young Creative Inventor was stunned. He asked, "Wise Uncle how!?" Wise Uncle walked to the phone, dialed a number. The Young Creative Inventor asked, "Who are you calling?" Wise Uncle said, "SHHHH! I'm on an important call." (Yes, this is Wise Uncle. How are you? Well, I need your help. God, I need to talk to you about your wind.)It is always a Blessing to share. Dream your world!Almost forgot the most important attribute of the heart of a legal marketer. PASSION.
