Announcing “Free Sample Friday”

We are having a biweekly giveaway on our facebook page called “Free Sample Friday”, starting  tomorrow and lasting through the end of the year.

Here’s how it will work:

Every other Friday we will post either pictures or a blog of the product which we will be giving away as samples on our facebook page, and asking who would like to win what’s on offer. All you have to do is say ‘me’ in the comments section, and that’s it. A winner will be chosen at random. It’s that simple!!

The catch:

- You have to be in the US or Canada,

- You have until midnight that Friday EST to enter.

Much of our success can be attributed to a book we read entitled “Black Woman’s Black Man’s Guide to a Spiritual Union” by Ra Un Nefer Amen. In this book he speaks about the importance of unconditional love. He also highlighted how we have a script or sort of fantasy like picture in our minds of the perfect or ideal lover or mate and when that person doesn’t meet our expectations, we feel let down, disappointed, the drama begins and things begin to fall apart.When our partner fails to perform up to our Hollywood or conditioned standard financially, sexually, emotionally or otherwise, maybe they didn’t cook, clean, communicate or perform the way that we envisioned it, we allow dissatisfaction to set in.Have Realistic Expectations but High standardsWhen getting to know your significant other, you need to be real when it comes to acknowledging his/her strengths and weaknesses. You also need to realize that peoples long developed habits are slow to change. If you’re hoping that something he/she does will change simply because you have entered their life, you may be disappointed. Some changes can be made if it’s clearly communicated, understood and your partner makes a conscious effort to change, but be very patient because it will probably be a slow and gradual process. I’m not saying that you should lower your standards, but have you ever heard the term wysiwyg? It is an acronym for what you see is what you get. So keep it real, but stay optimistic, patient and keep the faith. If you’re giving and taking is like a Wall Street financial transaction, sometimes you will rise, other times you will be in a recession, a depression and eventually a crash! So it is important for both partners to practice selfless giving with out making the other partner feel that he/she owes you something.When unexpected financial, medical and other emergencies arise, you will have to be flexible, calm and optimistic until the situation improves (because you will be tested). Always find a creative way to communicate, be understanding, stay affectionate, optimistic, patient and faithful…Did I say patient? Selfless giving/unconditional love is a high form of practical spirituality and it takes two to apply it. Announcing Your Engagement

Besides shouting from the rooftops, “We’re engaged!” and spreading the news of your engagement by word of mouth, you have a couple of other options when it comes to announcing your engagement. You can mail formal announcements to your friends and family or you can publish an announcement in your local and hometown newspapers.

Mailing Announcements – To create your announcement contact your local stationary store or an online retailer and have your announcement typeset and printed. You can also design your own announcements using a site like Vistaprint When designing your own announcement you will have the flexibility to choose the look and feel that best suits you as a couple. Keep in mind this will be your guests’ first preview into your wedding. The announcement should convey the overall tone and formality you think you’ll want for your event.

Newspaper Announcements - Call the publication(s) where you want your announcement to appear and speak to the editor in charge and find out the following:
§ The fee for publishing your announcement
§ Are there any guidelines or a standard form you must use?
§Do they accept pictures as part of the announcement?

A professional makeup artist is valuable for wedding day makeup, but that is not always possible. Here's a few things you should pay extra attention to when applying wedding day makeup:

Apply the makeup beyond the chin. Put foundation and powder on your chest, if it is visible, and on your neck. You can even dust your shoulders. Beauty does not stop at the face.

Set the makeup with translucent powder. Use primer on your face and skin to make sure the makeup lasts. Always do a trial run of your makeup before the wedding, and for future reference, take pictures when you think your face is perfect.

Wedding Invitation Do's and Don'ts

Do make your own invitations if you have the time and are looking for areas to cut costs. With do-it-yourself invitations you are not limited to what the stationer has to offer and you have complete creative control over the paper, fonts, colors and embellishments. You can buy blank stationary and design your invitation from scratch, or you can purchase a wedding invitation kit. If you do not have access to a high quality printer you can still save money by designing your own invitation and taking your design to a local copy center to be printed.

Don’t use your new monogram on your invitations or any other pre-wedding stationary or decorations. Save your married monogram for post-wedding activities like the reception and thank-you cards.

Don’t print “adult reception”, “adults only” or any other variation on your invitation. The way you address the invitation should make it clear who is and who is not invited to the wedding.

Do print the dress code on the invitation if it is a formal affair (i.e. black tie, black tie optional, etc.)

Don’t include registry information on your invitation or any of the insert cards. Registry information should only be included in the bridal shower invitation and spread by word of mouth by your family and the bridal party.

Do address the envelopes prior to inserting the invitations to avoid indentations or ink marks on the invitation.

Don’t worry about hand writing the addresses on the envelopes. Traditionally, all addresses were hand written, however some modern couples are opting to have the addresses printed directly onto the envelopes to cut costs and save time.

Do visit www.usps.com and browse through their inventory of stamps to find a stamp that fits your wedding style and theme.

Do call guests if you have not received a response by the deadline. Don’t automatically assume that they are not coming, they may have simply forgotten to send back the response card.
