At first thought you might be tempted to think that a recession is the worst possible time to start a new business. This certainly isn't the case! Some very profitable businesses were launched during times of recession because they took advantage of some key factors.

With some smart and creative thinking, you can have your business launched in no time. If you have a clear plan, you can make this happen regardless of the state of the economy.

These tips can help you take advantage of the recession to start a new business and get off to a great start:

1. Start up costs can be lower. It's less expensive to start a business during a recession than at other times. This is because other businesses are offering deals left and right. You might be able to get lower advertising rates as well as deals on supplies, inventory, services, and more.

2. Take advantage of advertising. In addition to lower ad costs, you may also find that competitors have their guard down. They may be counting on the fact that there aren't any new competitors, or maybe their financial situations warrant them cutting out advertising altogether. This leaves their customers ripe for snatching.

3. Provide excellent customer service. Excellent customer service matters. Between two businesses, with all things equal, the company with the better customer service always wins. After all, people always desire to be treated well.

• In a recession, it's possible that your competition has cut back on their customer service efforts. This gives you the opportunity to come in with top-notch service.

4. Offer bonuses. In a recession, people are more likely to pay serious attention to the businesses that are giving greater offers. You can open your new business with a bang by beating out your competitors with an excellent deal.

5. Excellent employees. During a time of recession, you may find some excellent candidates when it comes time to do your hiring. Because of other companies' downsizing, you can snatch up some appreciative and loyal people that are knowledgeable and well qualified.

6. Getting a head start. When you start your business during a recession, you'll get a good head start over other businesses that may be waiting for a "better" time to launch. This means that by the time they do launch, you'll be that much further ahead of the game.

7. Be frugal. Starting in times of recession forces you to be frugal about your business activities. Because of the recession, you'll make it a point to search for the best prices and the most efficient ways of conducting business.

• You may do it this way simply because you have to, but in the long run, you'll learn a very important lesson that can enable you to run a profitable business for years to come.

If you can launch and operate a successful business during a recession, just think of what you can accomplish once the economy booms again! Instead of waiting for the "right" time, take action today.

What she does know is that she isn’t going to payCordell Jefferson one penny. The debt is her father’s, not hers.

Cordell Jefferson is infuriated when his attorney returnswith the torn pieces of a notification to Tovah Warren informing her of thedebt that her father still owes to his company. Their families have beenfeuding for decades, but that wasn’t his concern. He wants to collect the moneyowed to his company and move on to the next debt. Tovah makes it clear that shedoesn’t plan to cooperate. Cordell decides to take matters into his own hands, only the instant he meets her, the reason he wants her to cooperate changes…

Excerpt:

“Tovah Warren?”

His voice sent little shivers through her. It sounded every bit as refined andsexy as he looked. The time that had passed since that day when she had watchedhim playing basketball had only enhanced his appeal. What had once beenyouthful good looks had matured into breathtakingly handsome features combinedwith a captivating appeal that reached her on the most primal level. And hiseyes…she couldn’t remember those milk chocolates being so intense. They werethe type of eyes that could delve into the very core of a person’s existenceand uncover the innermost secrets hidden there. A sudden shortness of breathtook her by surprise. It was easy to see why so many women fell all over themselvesin an attempt to get close to him. She shook away the unwanted thoughts andtried her best to rein in her rush of sexual excitement.

“Yes, I’m Tovah Warren.”

Calm down, girl, breathe slowly. He is only a man.

Her instructions to herself went by the wayside when his gaze traveled fromher face down her body to her feet, then slowly moved upward, caressing herfrom her bare legs to her face again. There was no mistaking the sensual lookthat covered his face. It was an expression that said he liked what he saw. Itwas the sort of look that made her feel naked and exposed while offering thepromise of unspeakable pleasures.

If only she had known he was going to show up at her place. She would havechanged out of the beige cotton slip dress and slipped her bare feet into apair of sandals. If she had changed clothes, maybe she wouldn’t feel as if hewas studying every curve of her body. A shocking jolt of excitement hit her—asensation as frightening as it was undeniably lustful.

"I’m Cordell Jefferson.”

It was a struggle, but she found her voice. Still she couldn’t keep thecontempt out of her voice when she spoke. “I know exactly who you are.”

Surprise flickered across his face, then rapidly disappeared. “You were quiterude to my attorney earlier. In fact, Jack stated it was the first time a womaninstilled fear within him. I’m afraid your actions have left me with no choicebut to take matters into my own hands.” He studied her for a long moment, andthen the corners of his mouth curled upward…a heart-stopping, sexy smile thatemphasized perfect white teeth in sharp contrast to the mahogany hue of hisface. “It seems we have some pressing business to wrap up.”

She couldn’t prevent the immediate sharp intake of breath as a response to hissmile, his closeness to her and the overwhelming strength of his masculinity. It took every ounce of her inner fortitude to maintain a minuscule amount ofself-control while responding to his statement. “No, I believe you aremistaken. We don’t have anything to discuss.”

“Oh, we most certainly do, Ms. Warren.” He completed another blatant scan ofher physical attributes, head-to-toe before recapturing eye contact with her.“We have quite a bit to talk about.”

The sensual shimmer in his gaze frightened her as much as it excited her. Herpoise slipped away quicker than she could keep hold of it. The last thing shewanted to do was come across as uncertain or wavering in front of CordellJefferson.

“May I come in?”

Black Women Can Grow Long Hair

The Long Hard Road

Do you agree with the statement that black women are obsessed with hair? Is this so-called obession the reason why the industry makes billions? If not then...what is it? I believe that black women instinctively know that our hair can grow, and it does not always have to be genetics. We don't know how to take care of our hair or know what to use on our hair to get it to grow. The practice that

2797-sedu%5B1%5D.jpg black people use to do especially women and little girls was wash our hair once a month. Because most of us, during those times were getting our hair pressed/hot combed, and that was once a month. We should paractice keeping our hair cleaner. Women with natural hair can wash twice a week. Women with relaxed should wash their hair once a week. After we would get our hair pressed/hotcombed then we would slather our hair with grease. Grease is a lubricant not a moisturizer it prevents moisture from entering into the hair shaft, thus making our hair dry even after using grease. We mis-take delicate hair for nappy or bad hair...it is neither one, it is just dry, and when we comb or brush it; it snaps and breaks (you can actually hear it). Black hair grows out in a coil, it has to go thru seven layers of scalp, because the scalp is so thick it causes it to coil. If you want your hair to grow with a more straighter texture you would have to shave your head and scrape your scalp. I have never known anyone personally that has done this procedure, but it is very true. Since most of us are not going to go thru the process of having our scalps scraped we have to learn how to take care of our hair to make it thrive and grow.

One of the first steps is using the right products. The prodcuts you use on your hair should be as natural as you can get them. I just read an article recently that most shampoos are nothing but detergent and chemicals that strips our hair of much needed moisture. The shampoo should have more plant based ingredients that helps the hair by relaxing it and making it soft.

149.JPGAnother step to getting your hair to grow is to use more protective hair styles...meaning more up hairdos (visit http://mybbwo.com/profile/Fatima311 she has nice hair accessories for your hair for up-dos) if you have long hair or short hair cover your hair with a cute stylish hair coverings. You will be suprised at how well this protecitve process works for your hair. Before going to bed at night you should stroke your hair with a natural hair brush and tie it up with a silk cap. Do not retire to bed without tying your hair this is so damageing and drying to the hair. During the day for long or short hair you should wear a stylish covering on the hair or up-dos to protect it from being damaged by the element's of nature such as wind, cold weather, and the sun. Try not to wear your hair down because when you do this it causes you to comb your hair too often. This tugging and pulling on the hair is not good for it...so try to wear the hair covered or more in up-dos. I am speaking to women who have natural or relaxed hair you both can use the same process to get your hair under control.

I know that I keep saying this over and over and over again...Moisture, Moisture, Moisture our hair need Moisture. Our hair has to be infused with Moisture. It also needs to be groomed and conditioned with natural grooming comb and brushed day and night. Plastic combs and bushes should not be the grooming tools of choice. We should spend time and money on ourselves,

Have you wronged someone else, and now you wish to make it right? Apologies can be awkward and uncomfortable, but a good apology communicates a willingness to admit your mistakes and be a better person. It also shows that you value the relationship and want to ensure that there are no hard feelings between you.

Even if you don't feel like the situation was your fault, asking for forgiveness for your part in the argument may be the quickest way to smooth things over and save your relationship. A well-delivered apology can soothe hurt feelings and draw others closer to you. So, how can you express regret in a way that benefits you?

Finding the Right Words

Just saying that you're sorry may be enough if it's sincere. If you've really hurt a person's feelings, though, you might want to say more. How long should your apology be? It should last as long as it takes to communicate sincerity and honesty.

The most important part of any apology is sincerity. Others can tell when your words are insincere. And an insincere apology usually makes the situation worse.

Express a willingness to accept your part of the blame. Some words you can use are:

• I'm sorry.
• I apologize.
• Please forgive me.
• I know I've wronged you.
• I hate that this has come between us.
• What can I do to make things right?
• Can we talk out our differences?
• Please let me explain.

If you open the conversation this way, you demonstrate that you truly want to make things better. Swallowing your pride and admitting that you've wronged someone is easier than you think. Most will be receptive to your desire to repair the relationship and respond in a way that brings healing to both of you.

Find an Opportune Time to Apologize

The timing of your apology is critical. Take a time when the other person isn't rushed. Even the most careful apology will fall on deaf ears if it is delivered at a time when the other person is hurried and focused on something else.

Ideally, make an appointment. Let them know that you have something important to discuss at their convenience. That way, you're more likely to receive their undivided attention and have better results with your apology.

Be flexible and work around the other person's schedule. Your willingness to be inconvenienced to accommodate the other person's schedule is an important first step in communicating that you are sincere in your apology.

Show that you mean what you say, and follow it up with actions that demonstrate the truthfulness of your words. Actions speak louder than words, and what you do shortly after your apology can do more to heal your relationship than any words you can say.

Hurt feelings are an unfortunate part of the important relationships in your life. Thankfully, a thoughtful apology that considers the other person's viewpoint can heal wounds that are caused by your mistakes. If you follow through with actions that show your sincerity, you stand an excellent chance of success in repairing the relationship and even making it stronger than ever before!

Black Statue of Liberty

It has been said that the original statue of liberty was a Black Egyptian woman. She was built by a French man named Bartholdi who was inspired by the monuments that he had seen when he visited Egypt(Africa). Story has it that America was not ready to see a symbol like that in 1886. If you ask me this society is still not ready. In 1886 was when the refashioned model (the one that you see today) was put up. I've been told that one could go to the museum of the city of New York at 5th Ave. and 103rd St. to see the original model. Is this true? I haven't made it to New York to check it out, but in the meantime in between time I created my own version...check it out Black Woman as Statue of Liberty T-Shirt . There is so much that is purposely not revealed to us about our story, but depending on other cultures to tell you the truth about your story is preposterous to me. I saw on CNN not too long ago that the forces that be are even trying to take away the little African American studies that are offered at colleges. I don't know about you, but things like this make me ask questions. Like why? Some people may not know why I celebrate the Black Woman, but I do to counteract all the negativity towards black women as a Black woman. I am none of the stereotypes and I walk with my head held high. I am not ashamed of what I am, neither am I uncomfortable with my African roots. I celebrate the Black woman because we are the first teachers in our community, as we carry life in our wombs. Not to get it twisted the Black man plays an essential role as well, but we cannot wait any longer for someone else to give us respect. We have to demand it by how we live, what we say and what we do. When we get back the respect we once had our unenlightened brothers will fall in line. I sell T-shirts at SoulSeedtees.com for Black women and I come with a message. Please add some insight to the conversation, let's build.
