Wearing the Whole Armor of God in Marriage(Being Fully Dressed and Armed for War)Marriages are under attack inundated by a spiritual battle perpetrated by the evil one himself, Satan, the father of lies and deception. In His Infinite Wisdom, God instructed us through the Apostle Paul in his Epistle to the Ephesians where he said, "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Folks, there is a war going on- not the war in Afghanistan, not the war in Iraq, but the war against marriages. Since the garden, war has been declared against the institution and ministry of marriage. The enemy works hard daily in an effort to bring marriages to turmoil and strife, in hopes that we will be able to cause these sacred unions to an end. Many of the scriptures were provided to give us spiritual direction and insight from our Creator who foreknew the obstacles we would face with an enemy at large. Sure, we know who wins in the end, but while Satan is on the loose, he is wreaking havoc when ever and where ever He can find an open door, thus the warning: "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour, I Peter 5:8. Yes, there is a war going on, however, this war does not involve traditional weapons and tactics such as guided missiles, tanks, fighter jets, and the like. This is a spiritual warfare that is fought by unconventional means, more of a means to defend ourselves because the actual battle is the Lord's. We are further instructed: "Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." When we put on the whole armor of God, we become clothed in two types of armor, one type that is defensive armor for our protection, the other type is to conquer or gain victory over. The whole armor makes us invulnerable and Victorians. When we are fully clothed in the armor of God, we are ready for battle. We are told "Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth." So what is the truth? God was the Truth from the beginning because the Truth is the Word of God. We come under the Word of God when we have our loins girded about with truth. Under the obedience of the truth of God's Word, we will walk in light and not in darkness and it is a know fact that where light is present darkness has to flees. In addition we are told, "and hovering on the breastplate of righteousness," this armor protects the heart which represents the spirit of man, and also protects other vital organs, As a believer faithfully lives in obedience to and in and in communion with Jesus Christ, His righteousness produces in us the practical daily righteousness that becomes our spiritual breastplate, "And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; "Our feet should be shod, or bound up, with the prepared foundation, which is Jesus Christ, who keeps the believer standing firm in the midst of spiritual warfare. The gospel of peace pertains to the Good News that through Christ, believers are at peace with God and we know that He is on our side. "Above all, taking the shield of faith, were with ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked." The shield of faith is a shield and a weapon. If and when you are at war, something is coming at you. We are not trying to take the enemy down; he's already down, he's already been defeated . In this war, all we have to do is endure to the end. We are to have faith in what we've heard (the Word of God). Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, faith will protect us on this walk with God. "And take the helmet of salvation." The helmet of salvation shields our head from the fiery darts that come against us by way of the enemy. We will not be able to have good thoughts without the helmet of salvation in place. Taking on the helmet of salvation is taking on Christ Himself, "and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God." As the sword was the soldiers only weapon, so is God's Word the only weapon needed which is more powerful then any of Satan's weapons. This is the only weapon used both defensively and offensively- Defensively to fend off the attacks of the enemy's strategies. The Sword of the Spirit is quick, living, and powerful. "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints." Praying always is the frequency or how often to pray; all prayer and supplication focuses on the variety or pattern of prayer; in the Spirit focuses on the submission as we line up with the will of God; watching thereunto is the manner in which we pray; with all perseverance is the persistence of our prayer; for all saints is who we are to pray for. Prayer is the key part to this Divine armor. Prayer is the primary means by which we engage in the battle, the purpose for which we are armed. This armor of God is for battle. During the battle itself, praying God's Word becomes our chief offensive weapon deployed against Satan during our struggles. If there is one thing you should always remember when the devil plots ways to interject his devious ways into your marriage is the enormous differences in the attributes of God versus those of Satan. God said, "Behold I will do a new thing," but Satan is limited to his same old tricks through lies and deceptions and a purpose to steal, kill, and to destroy. God through Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10Keep your marriage secure and strong-Put on the whole armor of God and be fully dressed and armed for war. As the slogan for the American Express goes…Don't leave home without it!by Erroll & Glyniel GarnerAll scriptures referenced are from the KJV

This new world called "Online Social Network" is still a novelty for some if not most of us over 50. We join social network sites that we feel we can relate to, and go to great pains to set up our profile page so that it reflects who we are.I don't know about you all, but for me, I was really nervous at first, about clicking on other people profile pictures and requesting their friendship. I really didn't know what to expect. So here it is a year later, and I have memberships on numerous SN sites and even started on of my own, "Word4UTVNetwork."I am clear that my sole purpose of being online is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to fellowship with others in this most fascinating new way. I interact with so many people during the day with so many different personalities, that when Pastor Ken gets home, I'm exhausted. I find that when I leave the house for meetings or just visiting my friends, two things are always with me; 1. my pocketbook, and 2. my laptop, yes even when I attend Church on Sundays, the laptop is in the trunk of the car. I can't help it.One day I discovered the community that has over 5 million members, and the Holy Spirit told me to join the community. I found myself saying out loud, " you've got to be kidding, right Lord?" Nope, the Holy Spirit said join and that's what I did. Wanna talk about sin! Anyways, I started a discussion that said, "There's a Pastor In the House" introduce myself and left it at that. Not to long after that I started getting requests to be added as a friend. OK. I also attracted the online bow-wows, men who are looking for women to get over on... but that comes with the territory. Now here is the reason for this blog. I receive this friend request from a young lady, so I clicked on her photo and saw that she was only wearing a teddie, not to mention that she looked like she weighed at least 250lbs or better. So she is asking for my friendship, me, Pastor and she, is wearing nothing but a teddie, with all her stuffing hanging out. You all know what this means, don't you? If I accept her, she will be on my page next to some of you who are already on my friend list. So, I've gone fishing, caught some fish, now what do I do? What would you do if you were me? Share your thoughts, I'd love to hear them.

In Denial Of Self Denial!

Wow I constantly meet christians who are so caught up in this prosperity ring. That's what I call it, a ring, because it appears that more and more, people forget that the Lord requires something from us, as opposed to us expecting something from Him. After all, did not Jesus pay it all on the cross? Did not Jesus, shed his blood for the remission of our sins? Are we not the benefactors of such a supreme sacrifice!

You would think that the bible was all about prosperity. Now don't get me wrong, I ain't hatein on anyone, just sad to know that the true meaning of the Gospel has been replaced with a psuedo gospel of "let me get mine" and "God's gonna do it for me too!"

But what about when Jesus asked us, if anyone would be my disciple, let him deny self, put away his own selfish ambitions.... how does that line up with all this prosperity teaching today? I know I'm probably gonna be a lone voice on this one.

How Many Missed Opportunities?

How many missed opportunities did you have today? Umm? How many times did you missed a chance to be about your Father's business today? Umm? In our fast-paced, busy, busy, daily please move out of my way, cause I've got-to-get-things-done-ness, we often times forget that we are to be about our Father's business, in the midst of the no see-ums.What about when you were standing on the check out line in the department store, and you saw that mother struggling with her young child who was having a serious temper tantrum? Did you say a pray for that mother, or did you watch in judgement? What about when you were stuck in that traffic jam on the highway, and when the traffic finally started to move again, you passed by that accident, and saw the ambulance and fire trucks? Did you say a prayer for who ever was in the cars, or did you just drive by relived that the traffic was moving again? How about when you were at the ATM waiting for your turn and someone was yelling at the elderly lady who was a bit confused on how to use the ATM? Did you say a prayer for both the yeller and the one being yelled at, or did you suck your teeth in insensitivity? What about the time you saw that woman walking down the street, crying? Did you say a prayer on her behalf, or did you shrug it off as mere curiosity? These are just a few examples of the many no see-ums we experience in our daily lives. We see them, but we don't see them because there is no emotional connection, so we just move on.But these are precious opportunities to be about our Father's business. Opportunities to be ambassador for Christ. True, nobody will know that you said a prayer, nobody will say thank you, nobody will praise you, that is except God. God knows all and sees all and God is the one who will reward you for being about His business today.John 14:14 - "If you ask anything in my name, I will do it."Pastor Aminata

On any typical day... or is there such a thing.... ?You woke up late this morning, rushing to get out of the house, to catch the 7:15 express bus, only to find that you left your metro card in your other bag, and you don't have enough change for the bus. Finally at work, with frowns abouding from them to you and you back to them, your told that you have 3 minutes until the staff meeting begins, and your expected to make a presentation, agrh. So why today does a cup of coffee decide to spill over into your lap?Wrinkled and stained, you do what you gotta do, anyways.... the rest of the day is typical, or is there such a thing... ? Feeling like an octupus out on the skating rink, you handle it all, phone calls, requests, emails, yadder, yadder, just a typical day.... or is there such a thing?Another day's journey and I'm so glad... well at least it's almost over. On your way home you remember that you promised the kids... ah... mind goes blank, seems like there always a promised due lately, anyways, so why isn't the express bus showing up? It just darned on you that you've been standing there for over 40 minutes and out of the blue a thunderstorm comes, and so where is your umbrella? It's home, watching the weather channel. With key in hand, you approached your home, wet, no soaked, tired, no beat, no exhausted, you prepared yourself for round two with the spouse and kids, on this typical day... or is there such a thing? No matter because whatever you go through, on any typical day, which really isn't so typical at all, you know that you have God's Word, His precious promises to encourage you and strengthen you.Neh 8:10 - And Nehemiah continued, "Go and celebrate with a feast of choice foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared.
