Be Encouraged !

There was a song I used to listen to several years back.

The words were… Be Encouraged – No Matter What’s Going On — He’ll Make it Alright by William Becton & Friends.

This past week we launched the 21 Day Encouragement Campaign. For 21 days you will hear from men and women of faith that have gone from victim to VICTORIOUS! They will share how they survived and what encouraged them to keep going. To sign up for the 21 day series click here.

The word of God tells us that “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging” (Psalms 46:1-3)

Do you believe that? We read the words in the bible, we jump, shout and get all “emotional” but do we really believe that GOD is an ever present help in the time of trouble.

If we were completely honest, most of us would say No. That doesn’t make you “unsaved” or a bad person. It makes you human. There is a story in the bible where a father brought his son to Jesus to be healed. Click here to finish

How is it that, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, our percentage of business ownership as black women in the U.S. is up 59 percent since 2002, yet we make up a mere 3 percent  of the $1.2 billion dollars in sales from women-owned businesses?

Unjust systems and long-standing, deliberately placed hurdles aside, many of us are learning to maneuver this new era of social impact through technology, and leveraging our skills with our passions to the tune of thriving businesses and comfortable lifestyles.

But on the real, the numbers of us who hoist sails on sinking ships with unstable businesses far surpass the number of financially and emotionally stable black women business owners.

Certainly, we do not lack access to the resources or the brainpower it takes to excel in business—so what’s the deal?

Business and Life Strategist Katrina M. Harrell and I have got a theory about these troubling truths.  It might ruffle your feathers a bit, but perhaps that’s a necessary part of your growth and ours.

The theory: Black women in business have been B.I.T.C.H.ing up, big time!

Yes, we BITCH up!  We get scared.  We stop trusting ourselves.  We take the shortcuts and we prioritize popularity over business ownership.  Many of us, myself included, spent years building a “popular brand”, without focusing on operating a business.

The results: High visibility, but low income.  Some success, but no real fulfillment.

I was a slave to the very thing I had built.  But thankfully, I got free.

There has been a incredible shift in the world around us.  From the Northeast hurricane, to many people stepping out on pure faith and starting new businesses, ending unhealthy relationships to even finally taking health seriously. We’re all being charged with “purging” something. In the midst of this though…doesn’t mean there are challenges or days when you simply want to “quit”.

::The client money isn’t coming in on time

::The husband just “ain’t acting right”

::The kids are a mess at school

::Your stress level is out of wack

::Your business is good…but it’s not “great”

::You seem to be working harder for the same result.

::You feel enslaved to your purpose.

As women we come as a package deal and with that means that often overwhelming feeling of wishing and wanting to just “quit” – to let it all go. To throw in the towel and just let the sh!% it the fan!

I know that feeling and I have to have a “come to Jesus”  meeting with myself. And get real.

It’s time someone offered you a dose of truth…and that is

Truth be told, women of color tiptoe around our issues in our lives and ultimately our businesses. We don’t invest in ourselves however we expect others to invest in us.

Do you? Do  you invest in yourself or do you quit at the thought of doing the work

QUIT at the thought of truly asking for assistance and support in growing your business or how women like Cameka Smith (founder of Forbes.com listed BOSS Network) has done by fostering a community of women entrepreneurs who network for good?

QUIT feeling like you can’t really work with other women because “they always want to take what’s mines”. And the hard work of learning to trust your own “GET IT GIRL!” so you can work with other women without the “crabs-in-the-barrel mentality” like LaShanda Henry (founder of Black Business Women Online) did with her girlfriends

QUIT at the thought of truly (and I mean truly) investing in quality mentorship and guidance and humbling yourself to end the thinking that you must do everything on your own or that perhaps Women of Color can’t produce high quality events and workshops that are impactful and profitable like thePOWER CIRCLE Conference & Expo happening Jan 2013.

What’s my point? I’ve been in a “Inner BITCH” release pilgrimage for some time involving releasing all the GUNK that was stuck in my belief system for too long.  My sister on this journey of complete liberation and I have been charged with not only calling ourselves out…but other women. Particularly women of color and Black women more specifically on how our emotional wellness is the TRUE source of abundance.

If you’re still reading I offer that I realize this post is making tons of assumptions about you – the reader – but perhaps it’s not. Perhaps somewhere inside of you, a-lot of this rings true. If not to this extreme, perhaps in your own self-sabotaging efforts to define “success” merely as the sum of your bank account or based on the number of episodes of  Donald Trump’s
The Apprentice” you’ve been able to copy-cat in your own business journey.

Whatever it is…there is a time to call it quits, but not on yourself…but on the nonsense that is causing many of us to live beneath the truth of our possibilities. The truth is that there is another more authentic way of living and creating and this video offers a bit of that truth.

ATLANTA, GA — Katrina M. Harrell and Akilah S. Richards have a collective abundance of life and business anecdotes from their personal and professional experiences.  One common thread among their stories is the lack of harmony between sound business strategies and real emotional wellness.

Frustrated with the trial-and-error approach to success among their own, Harrell and Richards now lead the movement that challenges black women business owners to face the harsh truths about promoting their brands versus building their businesses.  Their solution is 5-step “escape plan” from what they've dubbed "The inner B.I.T.C.H.".

On Thursday, November 9 at 9PM (EST) the two will host a free, live dialogue on Google+ Hangouts based around the focal points of their debut joint venture, How She Got Free: A Spiritual Business Manual for Women Who Lead Through Entrepreneurship.

The dialogue, which will also be live-streamed on YouTube, offers women a platform to discuss their biggest hurdles in business and life planning and income generating models.  Using the 5-Step Escape Plan, black women entrepreneurs can recognize their ineffective patterns, and align themselves with higher standards, sound structures, and effective systems in their professional and personal lives.

During the November 9th dialogue, the duo will tackle frequently dodged topics such as:

  • Offering “bargain bin” pricing instead of charging what we’re worth

  • How black women look to their white counterparts for marketing models that do not work with own potential markets

  • The lack of application of basic business principles and the consequences therein

About the authors

Harrell and Richards are uniquely qualified Business and Life Strategies whose unique approaches to business building and lifestyle design have garnered them the unique approach to lifestyle management has garnered the attention of Black Enterprise Magazine, Essence Magazine, Real Simple Magazine, MSNBC’s Today Moms blog,  and various local and web-based publications.

Spiritual Empowerment: Encourage Yourself

Encourage Yourself

© 2012 Robin Tramble

Do you find yourself overjoyed, excited and passionate
about the things Father God has called you to do only to
discover when life happens that you cannot sustain your
joy, excitement and passion?

Don’t feel bad this happens to us all. One thing you must know
is that it is not to be sustained within your own strength. We must
lean on Father God’s strength, tap into FAITH and allow Him to
work through us. Even knowing this there will be times that you just
can’t pull it together to persevere. Life may happen and hit you so hard
that you just don’t see your way.

I’d like to direct you to a story in the bible. It’s a story about David.
And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

David’s men murmured and complained some even turned against him. David had every reason to do the same, to give up and to lose heart, however, he trusted in God, encouraged himself and found himself promoted not long after.

What is it that has your heart heavy? Do you know your Father God? This is where we miss it. We know about the bible, what the bible says about God, however, we don’t truly know God. Learn more about Him, know His names. Here are a few….

Jehovah Jireh “The Lord God who provides” Jehovah Shammah “The God who is always there” El Shaddai “More than enough, able to reverse natural law and accelerate time!” Baal Perizim God of Breakthrough as unto a flood, Jehovah Shalom “God of Peace, nothing missing, nothing broken, wholeness in every area of our life!” Jehovah Rapha “God our healer” Hallelujah, praise God and AMEN.

You may know a few more. Encourage yourself by exalting His name, encourage yourself through worship, praise, prayer, reading the word of God. Encourage yourself by remembering how He’s brought you through, made a way out of no way! Encourage yourself by journaling what you’re grateful for. Got it?

Alright. Be encouraged. God is with you!

Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must
fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act.
There is no other route to success.

~Stephen A. Brennan~

Do you have goals for your life and business?

I'm sure you do. Are you achieving any of your goals?

Even when you've set a "good" goal - you can run into some

challenges along the way... namely, motivation. Without motivation,

even the most ambitious person will get sidetracked. Here are the strategies that
will keep you on track to achieving your goals:

Write it down

It's one thing to set a goal and yet another to write it down.

You're making a step towards committing to your goal when

you write it down. I know it seems obvious, however, you'd be

surprised at how many individuals

don't complete this step.

Determine what achieving this goal will do for you

Give life to your goals. Write down what it will mean or what it

will do for you to achieve this goal. Visualize it and write it down.

Place yourself in the moment. This is also a key to manifesting

your goals.

Focus on success.

Being overcome by negative thoughts or "what if" scenarios can spell
disaster, even death, to your goals. When you start out by finding a
million ways why your plans won't work, your energy is getting diverted
to dealing with failure that hasn't even happened!

Instead of funneling your time and resources into negative thoughts and
processes, make the decision that you're not going to entertain any
ideas of failure. If it happens, it happens. You don't have to spend
your precious resources worrying about it now.

"What you focus on expands." ~ Author unknown

Chart your progress.

A great motivation is to create a visual graphic to represent your
progress towards your goal. Think of those thermometers that elementary
schools place outside on a busy road, measuring how close they are to
achieving their fund-raising goal for the new community pool or
library. A similar, physical chart that you can update with progress
will do wonders to keep your attention focused.

When you're doing this step, think outside the box. If you're trying to
spend more time at the gym, why not post a map of the US on your wall,
and draw an inch from one coast to the other for each hour you spend on
the treadmill? Visual reminders are fun ways to keep your goals in the
forefront of your mind.

Don't be afraid to ask for help or turn to an expert for advice.

Some individuals feel guilty about asking for help or admitting that they
need help. Or you may think that you need to do everything on your own.
Nothing could be further from the truth! Alcoholics Anonymous has
sponsors, Michael Phelps has a coach, and Jack Welch had an advisory
board. No one has to be alone in their goal-setting efforts. Trying to
eat healthier? Nutritionists will help you fine-tune your diet. Working
out to get fit? Trainers will help you find the most effective
exercises to achieve your physical goals. Trying to get clear on your
vision, goals and stay focused or maybe even get unstuck? Coaches such

myself can assist you in this area.

There are business mentors and coaches who can help you figure out social
media, launch a new information product, create action plans, stay
focused, streamline your finances etc.. You can also find tons of
books, videos, and websites to help you reach your goal, no matter what
your goal happens to be. Don't go it alone. You also need an
accountability partner. Many times this is the missing piece.

Need more support in setting and/or achieving your goals? I invite you to
contact me for a complimentary life and business breakthrough strategy
session. Where I'll help you create a vision of where you'd like to go,
uncover some of the things that may be holding you back

and more. You'll leave our session re-energized, empowered and more focused.

Send an email to info@RobinTramble.com put "Life and Business

Breakthrough strategy session" in the subject area.

Someone will contact you to set up your session with me.

How many of you take time for YOURSELF? I have watched enough Oprah shows to know that if you don't take care of yourself no one else will. You will be unhappy, grumpy, and your friends will be begging you to see a shrink. If anyone knows it's me. A child with autism, and epilepsy; family dysfunction, unsuccesful relationships, death of close friends and family members, etc...I don't feel like a victim, so don't go poor Rierie, just sharing!!! I used to run on empty, out of gas; that was my normalcy so to speak, then one day I crashed. I wanted to crawl into a whole and never come out. God's grace saved me. There are a few things that I cannot live without nowadays. I try to feed my mind, my body, my spirit, as much as I can; it's all connected, so why not take care of the whole package!!!

The Mind
6a00cdf39c677acb8f00d4143c67bc3c7f-500pi.jpgWhewwww, "she" can chatter all day long; from what you need to do right now, what you didn't do yesterday, how many things you have to get done nowwww. "She" will keep you up at night, and before you know it, you are on Ambien. So I brain drain.
-Brain drain: write down a list of everything you need to do on a notepad, from grocery store to going to the bank to chaperoning your kids next field trip.
-Stop being negative; I am sure you already know this, whatever you focus on expands, if you focus on negativity, what's wrong in your life, you will get more of it.
-Let your mind float freely. Imagine that you have no limitations. Imagine that you have all the time, money, resources, intelligence, education, experience and all the contacts in the world. Imagine that you could do, be or have anything in your life. What if you had no fear of failure at all?
-Your most important goals/intentions must be YOURS. Not your spouse's, your child's, your employer's, your mother's, your sister's....
-Write your intentions in positive terms, avoid saying "I will not be. Your subconscious mind is very specific and it doesn't judge, it will attract like a magnet whatever you focus on.
If you've never read 'The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind", pick up a copy, a great book....I have 2 copies, dog-eared to the 10th power lol.

The Body
If you are not kind to it now, it will be hostile to you later.
-Don't diet, diets make you cranky, eat whole foods; diet=die, I want to live lol. I am sure you do too. God gave us whole foods for a reason, ditch those frozen meals, canned goods, fat free this and that. Eat grass fed beef, organic chicken, wild caught fishes; not farm-raised, organic fruits, and veggies. Use olive oil, and coconut oil. Do your research on canola oil, and soy (disturbing). Cut out sugar, drink more water. I can't get down with eggs beaters in a carton box, come on now.....you get the jist. Check out this book, "Healthy Urban Kitchen", the author, Antonio is on to something....
-Move it; you don't have to be a slave to the treadmill, hike, take a walk with your dog, take your kids or grandkids to the park and become one of them, salsa dance (my faaaavorite woo hoo).
Check out these two amazing salsa teachers; they offer classes that will have you sweating and cheering; Myriam Soavinzara and "Tony "El Pana". You will be sweating to a slimmer you while having fun...
-Treat yourself to a massage, mani-pedi, get a facial, plan a get away, put on lipgloss, reconnect with a long time friend over a great glass of wine, take on golf.... :-)

The Spirit
We are spiritual beings having a human experience, that's what I believe, we are more than this body. Believe in a Higher Power, whatever it may be for you, I am a God fanatic, and lover ♡
-Prayers work, enough said.
Getting in the Gap: Making Conscious Contact with God Through Meditation (Book with CD)-Meditate, "Be still, and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10). Look up Japa meditation if you are having a hard time shutting down your mind. It's helped me a lot. You can check out Dr. Wayne Dyer's book "Getting in the gap".
-Surrender, this is now a daily practice of mine, it has truly become a habit. To surrender means to yield, to relinquish control over. When we surrender to God, we are simply acknowledging that what we "own" actually belongs to Him. He is the giver of all good things. By surrendering to God, we admit that He is ultimately in control of everything, including our present circumstances. Let Go, let God.
-Forgive someone; Love someone; Compliment someone and mean it, say Thank You.
-Be grateful; there are thousands of things to be grateful for on a regular basis, no matter how difficult things may seem. "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change". Dr. Wayne Dyer

These are the few things I do to keep me sane, what about you? What do you do to keep your sanity? What do you do to keep a healthy mind, body, and spirit?

A question with appearance!!

Ladies, we are so determined to do things to make us so beautiful on the outside. We have our nails, hair and make-up done to perfection. We rock the latest in designer clothes, accessories and yes shoes all those shoes!! There is nothing wrong with doing so. However, when will our aspirations make us look good on the inside? When will we seek time to look inside our spirit in order to bring out the best in us? When will we take time out to motivate our inner being; to be our own boss, get out of debt, have more positive relationships and be successful on the inside? Ladies, we all know most of us have waited at the hair salon including myself, for hours to get that updo, sidesweep, extensions. weave, and curly look. However, my question to you is can we allot 10 minutes a day to connect and empower ourselves or is it asking to much???

At first these experiences can cause a wound, not just a physical wound, but a spiritual wound that also needs healing. Often times these wounds can not be seen with the naked eye but they are still there.Intuitive, spiritual healer, and teacher, Kimberly S. Ware guides women on how to heal from life dilemmas. This guide is complimentary to Ware’s Heal My Wings: A Healing Workbook & Journal for Women. Offering modern-day stories and examples from her own personal experiences, she gives tips and exercises on spiritual healing. She shows how it’s possible to heal your wings and prosper after overcoming life changing events.Kimberly Ware is the author of Heal My Wings: A Healing Guide for Women, Heal My Wings: A Healing Journal and Workbook for Women. Peace my Beloved Family,For as long as I can remember I have desired to help people to be greater than themselves. In my typical style, I knew I would do this in a very BIG way. Even though I didn’t always know what helping people looked like for me, I knew healing was a major part of who I was.Through years of self discovery, soul searching, and studying various healing arts with many talented teachers and healers, the picture became clearer. As a result, Avalaura’s Healing Center was born. One thing I’ve realized along my journey is no matter how much you’re able to see, the full picture is always greater. It exceeds your wildest dreams and it can only be revealed to you when you are ready to see it. What’s presented to you is only a glimpse of what’s to come if you ALLOW it. Oprah often says “What God intended for you goes far beyond anything you can imagine.” This has been the great truth of my life.I’m very humbled by the healing work I’ve been blessed to do over the last three years. I love hearing the inspirational stories from the people I’ve served, seeing their smiles and receiving their embraces. But through it all, I have always known there was more, that the work I’d begun was just the beginning. Being a healer brings many blessings, but it also brings great responsibility. Ayi Kwei Armah states in his book The Healers:“A healer needs to see beyond the present and tomorrow. He needs to see years and decades ahead. Because healers work for results so firm that they may not be wholly visible till centuries have flowed into millennia. Those willing to do this necessary work, they are the healers of our people.”This belief embodies the spirit of every aspect of the work I do. I know I’ve been blessed with a powerful gift and I’m determined to share it with the world. Many people have asked me, why did I choose to be a healer and how did I become interested in holistic or alternative healing? And I tell them very simply, this is the work I was born to do. This is not something I woke up one day and said, “ooohh wouldn’t it be cool to heal the world?” On the contrary, it is a powerful energy, a feeling, a passion that surges through every part of my being. I sleep with it, I eat with it, I laugh with it and I heal with it. This is what God has intended for me and I graciously accept the call. I am always searching for another way; a better way. I’m always working to improve my work. I’m always trying to figure out; how can I do more, how can I help people heal faster and how can I help people heal permanently. Finally in my search, I have found the ultimate healing. I have found that better way or rather it found me.My experiences in India expanded my awareness to further allow what God has intended for me. When I returned to the U.S., the next phase of my journey began. In my meditation I was introduced to the greatest healer I have ever known. He is a Muslim Sufi who comes from a long line of healers in the Gambia in West Africa. Although I was just introduced to him, God had been preparing him for me for four years. He was waiting patiently for me to arrive. And when I did, he embraced me as his child, as his friend, and as his student. Since the moment of our physical meeting, he has taught me everything that he knows; everything that Spirit has taught him. I can not tell you what a great blessing and gift this is. I am not Muslim, I am a woman and I am an American. All of these are obstacles to learning these sacred traditions and wisdom teachings that God has opened the way for me to receive.Through Marabout Spiritual Healing, I have been invited into a secret world that many will never have the privilege to witness. The Spirit world has embraced me with open arms and has shown me that miracles do exist. Through my work with Spirit; Spirit can create miracles in the lives of many. This allows me a unique perspective, a vantage point or as Armah says the ability to “see beyond the present and tomorrow.” This is the vantage point that I graciously share with you. Armah also states “Healers are just awakeners of a people who have slept too long.”Wake up! You have slept too long! It pains me to see people suffering unnecessarily. Agonizing from disease, limiting beliefs, curses and other evil influences and self imposed limitations. I feel frustrated when I hear the many stories of people poisoning themselves with chemotherapy to “cure” cancer, people enduring surgery for something that can be healed naturally, people experiencing the symptoms of sickle cell or HIV because western medicine has no cures, or people taking numerous medications for diabetes or high blood pressure when a healing herb is the answer. I am so tired of poverty consciousness and other limiting beliefs where people believe they don’t have the time or money for the very things that will change their lives. But instead spend their time and money on things that will never yield the results they seek.Wake up! You have lost your way. You have been conditioned to believe that the world you live in is reality. So when a doctor tells you there is no cure for a disease, then this must be true. Many of us believe constant suffering and enduring one bad experience after another is a normal part of our human existence. This is not so. The real world is the unseen world beyond us that governs our “reality.” And in this world EVERTHING IS POSSIBLE. There is a cure for everything; everything can and does heal. For what has been created can be destroyed and what has yet to be created, can be manifested. This is the work of miracles. This is the work of Spirit. This is the work I am humbled to help you use to change your life. But……Only if you believe!Only if you allow it!Only if you realize there is a force greater than you that allows healing beyond your greatest imagination!Only if you decide to stop complaining, stop procrastinating, use your Divine power and take your life back!Only then can you begin to witness the greatness God intends for you. There is a better way; don’t be afraid to believe in it, even if you can’t see it. Don’t be afraid to embrace it; when your opportunity for true healing is presented to you, even if you don’t understand it. Wake up! It is time for you to believe and embrace a better way!Love & Divine Healing,Avalaura

It's Not Always What It Seems

Isa 55:8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.Things don't always turn out the way we expect them do they? At the beginning of the year we make our resolutions, set up our Franklin Planners, and revamp our lifestyles setting up for a fresh start. And with all the enthusiasm and energy we move forward in this thing called "life".Of course we never set out to fail; so we get every help book we can find, and make striding efforts to study God’s Word and even pray more knowing that these are the tools to support our road toward success. We make pretty good solid plans and things seem to be going as expected with maybe a few challenges here and there but then what you expected to happen doesn't. In fact, it kind of turns you for a loop and you ask yourself "what happened"? You ask yourself questions like, "I should be in a higher position on my job right, so...", "I thought I would be married by now, so...", "I just knew I would be married for the rest of my life, so...", "I never thought I would have to go through this, so..."...WHAT HAPPENED?"I believe the answer to these questions is..."we only see in part"! If we only look at our lives through our physical eyes then we will only see and know in part. It is only when you walk by the Spirit that you can receive a better perspective and understanding. We must look to our Father who has the WHOLE plan because our plans are limited. In our physical bodies the plans we make for ourselves keep us inside a box. A box of comfort, a box of security, a box of routine; it is a box with no possibilities except for those things inside of that box. This box never allows us to take chances and venture beyond our comfort zone or our fears. In fact, the plans we make have limited vision and will always interpret the world as being flat and it is only until we walk by faith and in the Spirit of God that we discover as we're walking that the world is round and is endless.Yes, we all have had stagnate days but what helps me along is when I think of some friends that made an aggressive move to relocate to another state for a great job opportunity which turned out not be a job of longevity but it did position them for other open door opportunities. And these opportunities have launched them into unbelievable careers. But what would have happened if they had stayed in the same place doing the same thing? Would these career opportunities have presented themselves in their old places? Or could it be that they positioned themselves by stepping out on the Spirit of God and using His vision and not their own. Could it be because of their obedience that they position themselves to experience the "under the window" overflow that God wants all of His children to encounter? And as a bonus those that are connected to them also share in the abundance of the overflow. What it really comes down to is us trusting in the one whom we confess to love and adore with our whole hearts. The blessings are ready to be released but are you ready to step out on faith and test the waters.Malachi 3:10b “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!
