The winter months can be so unkind to your skin - wrecking havoc by turning hydrated skin into parched skin.  With the dry, cold air outside beating at your skin, cranked up heat indoors pulling moisture out of your skin, there seems to be no rescue for your epidermis.  Lost cause?  Absolutely not.  You just have to make a few adjustments to your winter bath and body care routine:

Step 1: Use a gentle grime fighter that won't strip your skin of its natural, protective oils, and that will also add to the conditioning of your skin.

Organic Love Body WashA pure organic, castile body wash! Lather up in goodness of sunflower oil, coconut oil, palm kernel oil, and glycerin! Organic Love is enriched with African Black Soap and Green Leaf Papaya to eat up those dead skin cells!

Step 2: No more than 3 times a week, your skin should receive some TLC with a scrub/polish.  Exfoliating eliminates dead skin (keratin) sitting on the surface, removes impurities from the pores,  and leaves behind smooth, soft skin.

Almond Whipped Cream ScrubA creamy body wash and exotic sugar scrub, with Sweet Almond oil to boot. Pick up your favorite sponge or puff and cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize, and fragrance your body!

Sweet Raw Sugar Honey PolishA skin delicious blend of golden crystals, for banishing dead skin; pure plant oils effective for mature skin; rich humectants for protecting the skin; and honey to boot.

Step 3: Add an oil treatment to your bath & body routine. Topping the epidermis off with wholesome oils (emollient) is the best way to seal in moisture.

MarinadeAn after-bath oil, that is great for those on-the-go days. Seal in the moisture after showering, by spritzing on this oil-free Shea Butter oil blend.

Pure Body BalmA head-to-toe deep moisturizing balm, created for those women who need a bit more TLC for their scalp and body.  Pure Body Balm rejeuvenates dehydrated skin, works as a protective barrier, and is gentle on sensitive skin.

Sigh. The silent expression given after looking over those fun, summer pictures taken of you in your twenties.  Those were the days - sun, fun, laughter and beautiful skin happily displayed under shorts and sleeveless tops. “When did my youthful glow disappear?”  As the body ages, cellular regeneration slows down, and skin begins to act differently, yielding dark spots, wrinkles, and rough, cracked skin.  Thankfully, plenty of wholesome products from nature can help you maintain your beautiful skin, and this puts you on the winning side - allowing you to grow older gracefully.

You truly are what you eat, therefore an adequate intake of water and nourishing foods work internally and the epidermis benefits from those positive effects.

In addition to eating and drinking mindfully, consistently use these three topical steps to keep your body’s largest organ conditioned, hydrated, and have you on your way to celebrating the reappearance of that youthful glow:

First, cleanse the skin using soap or body wash with rich emollients, such as raw butters and plant/fruit oils. The hydration process begins when water comes in contact with the skin, and the wholesome emollients seal moisture into the skin.  Forgo products with harsh surfactants, such as sodium lauryl sulfate. They strip the natural oils from the skin, and hinders the goal.

Next, slough off dead skin cells using salt or sugar scrubs, clays, or a natural fiber sponge.  Exfoliation is one of the most skipped steps in bath and body care, but is necessary for a radiant hue. Exfoliating the skin 2-3 times a week, softens rough skin, lightens hyper-pigmented spots, and allows for better absorption of other bath and body care products.

Lastly, apply moisturizers with liquid content and emollients (lotion/cream) to maintain skin hydration and soft skin throughout the day.  Or use emollients (no water content) such as body butters and body balms for sealing in moisture after showering, softening rough skin, and protecting the skin. Petroleum jelly is an emollient, however, it does not allow the skin to breathe as well as plant/fruit-based emollients.

Add these simple solutions to your bath and body care regimen, and you can expect that youthful glow to reappear. Say, “Good-bye” to sigh and hello to shorts, racerback tanks and short maxi dresses.

So, let me tell you about my adventure yesterday.

Yesterday, we celebrated a new year with King T.  A few months back, our daughters and I planned to gift him with a day at the U.S. National Whitewater Center.  This place is grand.  You can go and do absolutely nothing and absolutely everything, and will have a memorable time.

One of our planned adventures was a twenty-foot-above-ground obstacle course.  While waiting for our turn, we observed the small children and adults (including seniors) who ventured out before us. Although they all seemed to be getting through the course successfully, the concentrating eyes and clenched jaws were giving me pause.  But, it can't be that bad. Right?

"Next person", said the attendant. I go up the steps, she connects me to the safety rope, and looks me in the eyes sternly. "Once you begin this course, you have to finish it." Only thing I could imagine at that moment was a steel door closing between me, her, my family and everyone else standing in line. Gulp.

Twenty feet above ground doesn't sound too bad -- when you're on the ground.

Our Shared Perspectives

Once the course was over, as a family we shared exactly how we felt about that adventure.

King T. - What have I've gotten myself into. It was great, man.  Loved it.

Me- Ditto. But also, I took on each obstacle at a time. I did not think about the one ahead, and after each one, I stood on the platform feeling accomplished and determine to master the next.

Warrior Princess Z. - The first step was harder than I thought.  I did not try to control the safety rope, because I knew it would come with me. I was able to plan my strategy and not think so much about falling to the ground, because I knew that I could rely on the safety rope.

Warrior Princess T. - Well.... we did not have to ask her about her perspective, because we heard it (everyone there heard it).

Her Fight Overpowers Her Flight

My young lady snot-nose cried on the fourth obstacle. Do I blame her? Not at all. She physically displayed what we ALL were feeling. Although she was hesitant from the first step, never once did she say, "I can't do this. I don't want to do this. I'm turning back." I heard her crying behind me, and although I empathized with her, I could not, would not default to the "mommy is here" mode. Why? Because I know my child. Her fight always wins out. And to be honest, she likes for me to just be there, not hover (I like that about my children). So, there she was crying, yet each time I looked up (Warrior Princess Z. and I were finished. Woo.) she was finished with one obstacle and on to the next. Her daddy was just heart-melting brilliant -- encouraging her. The couple behind her were encouraging and the fifty plus people waiting in line were cheering her on.  They even clapped and congratulated her when she was finished. They understood. I was/am so proud of my girl. I did not hug her, I high-fived her and patted her on the shoulder and said, "You did good." She liked that.

As we walked and talked, I said, "I bet if we come back next week, you'll be able to do that course again." She replied with a resounding, "Yup." Back straight. No hesitation in her response. A determine look.

Don't you just love that?

We All Have It

Flight and Fight is within us all.

You know that feeling. That inadequate feeling.

Flight tells you to stay in bed; no one is going to support this project; you failed, why not give up; how dare you think you deserve to feel accomplished. And it's so audible -- that was flight crying from the mouth of my daughter.

Fight tells you to persevere; get your butt out of bed, off the sofa; make some phone calls; stay present in what you want to accomplish; this project will get done; how are you going to get support if you don't do; how will you know if you don't try; so what you failed, but did you learn?

My daughter is a prime example of how if you want it bad enough, if you want to overcome obstacles in the way, if you want to get down from a twenty-foot obstacle course, you have got to let Fight propel you forward.

So many days I have felt the warm caress from Flight. Fight reminds me that it's a trick. Revolt!

Flight is needed.  It's there for a very good reason. That reason..... Danger. So, if you're not in danger from your aspirations, don't rely on it. Instead rely on the safety rope called Fight.

Remember, when it comes to accomplishing goals, the only difference between those who succeed and those who don't is Flight or Fight.

Which do you choose today, Flight or Fight?

Below are photos of our adventure (one has a short video snippet of King T. on the Mega Zip, 46-foot drop, 1,123 feet zip).  Enjoy.

OUR COMMISSION

The Kingdom of God Flag Company mission is to give Glory to God. Our vision is for the TRINITY Flag to become the Kingdom flag for Christians. This flag allows Christians the opportunity to commit their loyalty & allegiance to Christ Jesus.

The Kingdom of God Flag Company is established for God to use us as a platform (Isaiah 11 NLT); a channel for which He can unite the body of Christ, to come together for the manifestation of the sons of God. By partaking in the purchase of the TRINITY flags, we can make the desolate places be like the garden of Eden (Ezekiel 36:34-36, Isaiah 61:4), so that Jesus can come for His glorious church, this is when we have accomplished the mandate to “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

The TRINITY Flag is not only used as a point of contact to God, such as a cross or rosary beads, but much more. The expectation of the TRINITY Flag in the world is that with its purchase, it brings comfort to people in need. The TRINITY Flag is "SHOWING GOD, WE ARE MINDFUL OF HIM."

We believe by funding the established programs and project of ministries, we are making a great difference in the lives of many people. The programs are the distribution of food, clothing, and housing; be taught skills in life, education, computer & basic finance, provide discipleship enlightenment, healthcare, pro bono lawyers & more.

Wherever injustice is, we would like to play a part in providing help.

The TRINITY Flag is also designed as a token of love to give while evangelizing; they can be given with gospel tracts or with new Bibles.

The TRINITY Flag's key components are its three colors; purple, red & gold, which represent the government of the Kingdom of God; the color purple is for God the Father, for He is Royalty, the color red is for God the Son, for Jesus’ Precious Blood, and the color gold is for God the Holy Spirit, for His Power. Our design now displays images for those who would like the TRINITY Flag to have a more specific impact, while praying, using their faith with scripture; God’s promises.

The TRINITY Flag is on the standard of the United States flag; from 4x6 inch stick flag to 3x5 feet sizes or larger, with & without fringe.

These TRINITY flags shall stand tall indoors (as in attention to our King) in sanctuaries, halls, on stages & in offices.

For outdoors; they shall be installed on our buildings, the TRINITY Flag shall fly high in the wind, as if pointing to the Heavens and then bow down to God as the wind changes.

The TRINITY Praise & Worship Banners comes in the TRINITY Flag’s colors with or without images, the Streamers with the colors only.

Dancers who enjoy dancing before the Lord in the privacy of their homes or praise & worship the Lord with the congregation, will enjoy watching the TRINITY Flag's vibrant colors, as it flows in the air with their every movement.

Just by having the TRINITY Flag in the world, shall change the atmosphere for the better. People will finally see that there is another way; they don’t have to conform to the status quo. There is a way out of their circumstance, there is a better way; it is through Prayer, Praise & Worship, in Jesus' Name, AMEN !!!

Please join me in doing God’s will by manifesting the sons of God to a world that needs so much love.  I am ready for Jesus to come for us, aren't you? Together, we can make the difference, let us give God the glory, He deserves. #God #Love #Difference

Matthew 24:14, "And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come."

Importance of Vision in Life

The purpose of your life becomes important as you get older. This is especially true when a person matures from imitating their heroes and mentors. Just as Oprah stated in an interview, she realized she could be a much better Oprah instead of trying to be a Barbara Walters. When we reach this point, we focus more on having a vision for our lives.

Having goals is the beginning step to forming a vision for your life. When we set a goal and achieve it, the next step of growth is becoming excellent at that skill/talent. Upon excelling at a skill, the question or innate inclination will begin to nudge at you asking “is this it?” Or, as Miles Davis experienced early in his career, someone will point out to you that you are excellent at imitating someone else. However, the knock of opportunity comes everyone gets the call to be unique. Answering this knock means you develop a vision for your life that is larger than your goals, it is your life’s vision.

Just as goals direct our energy and attention in a constructive manner, having a vision reveals your purpose. Although developing a vision for your life brings you to the mature understanding that you are working toward something larger than yourself, it does require you to think and be uniquely you. You begin to think about your legacy and being part of something that contributes to others in a good way. To catch the vision for your life, you have to think independently asking what makes you come alive.

Naturally, you are unique. You are the only version of you that will ever be on this planet. It is right for you to believe you are distinctive, extraordinary, and you are here for a purpose. Also, it is important to know life is a learning process. This truth with the practice of goal setting and achieving goals will help you recognize your life vision. This vision will escalate you to the next level of your amazing life. It will demonstrate your value and each day you will get up with a purpose.

Once you clearly identify the vision for your life, you will work tirelessly. Start now by paying attention to what you are good at and like doing. Listen to the compliments others give you about what you do well. Keep a list of these skills and qualities to become conscious and to excel at these talents. Cultivating your excellence in these areas will connect you with others that like or need what you do well. Your excellence, achieving your goals, and becoming aware of your unique skills leads to the vision of your life. Your vision will then drive your life to the stratosphere of an extraordinary life experience that contributes to the world while bringing you to your purpose.

Dr. King Holiday 2015

As we commemorate the 86th birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King it is a good time to reflect on where this nation called the United States of America has come from and where it is headed.  Many of those who began the fight for civil rights have transitioned away from this existence and never had the opportunity to taste the fruits of their labor.  Civil rights advocates, from the national leaders to the local community, began a fight years ago to compel those of European heritage to stop their practices of discrimination towards those of African descent.  As history has noted, those fights were often brutal, yet those civil right soldiers who fought the fights; who marched the marches; who protested peacefully, did not waiver in their determination to make this nation look at itself and realize it was not living up to its creed.

And now we come to the 86th birthday celebration of Dr. King and change has come.  The 1964 Civil Rights Act, the 1965 Voting Rights Act, and the Fair Housing Act of 1968 have improved opportunities, not just for Blacks, but society as a whole.  Community schools have improved and college education is more accessible.  Blacks are successful entrepreneurs, business leaders, mayors and governors.  We have been the beneficiaries of those civil rights workers who dared to dream a reality that many understood they would never see.  Dr. King, himself, wouldn’t have imagined that a young man born in Hawaii to a Kenyan father and White mother would someday be the president of the United States.

So where are we today?  Discrimination still exists.  Bigotry hasn’t been eradicated.  Prejudice still persists.  The unrest in our communities is real.  The desperation and hopeless doesn’t magically disappear with a new sunrise.  Those who have had the opportunity to taste the fruit generated by the civil rights movements, have to find ways today to share the fruit.  We have to find ways to help the hopeless.  We have to find ways to brighten spirits where darkness wants to reside.  We have to provide encouragement in places where people believe it can’t exist.

Seventy years ago, those who began the fight for civil rights had the same challenges.  They had to somehow convince the hopeless, the naysayers, the desperate, and the darkened souls that it could be better.  That is the same challenge today.  As we remember Dr. King remember that the push for progress is not always easy.  All kinds of impediments exist solely to throttle progress, but it has been proven that Black people in this country have a strong and proud foundation to build upon.  Dr. King would tell you that.  He would also tell you that even at the darkest of night, the light of day is never far away.

Tanishia was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at age 15. And then it happened. What happens with many individuals diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, Michael and Robin learned about 7 or so years ago that it was NMO (Neuroyelitis Optica).

It was a very long journey for our dear lovely. She left home January, 2012 due to complications, returned home and returned a few days later due to respiratory failure. What we thought would be a visit and return home within weeks turned into almost 3 years. It would be 3 years January that she hadn’t seen her home in Seattle, WA. Although we stood in Faith and believed for manifestation of wholeness we also decided to refuse to be selfish and try to hold her here. We left it to our Father what her journey would be while praying and believing. Says Robin Tramble Tanishia’s Mother.

Tanishia did end up on the ventilator and had to be trached. Her family watched her suffer coming close to losing her life many times. They faced the realization that it was possible that their lovely wouldn’t ever return home although believing every day until the end. She suffered much over the past 3 years while still holding on to her Faith until that moment when she made peace with the Lord and decided she was ready when He was ready.

Tanishia was loved by and an inspiration to many. Very gifted in music and loved God. She graduated from High School and went on to obtain her degree in Early Child hood development. She always wanted a day care and planned to call it Robin’s nest. Like many young women Tanishia desired to marry one day and have children. She did have two precious God daughters that she loved dearly.

Tanishia will be remembered for her beautiful smile, warm heart, humor, Faith and tenacious fight. She loved children, singing and writing songs.

When I was a child growing up in one of Atlanta’s oldest communities, we often used the phrase, “You did that on purpose.” The statement indicated intentionality in someone’s actions. There behavior was not accidental but executed with forethought, sometimes malicious forethought. However, there was another, often unspoken, meaning to doing something on purpose. There was a more subtle communication from my parents and elders that our lives have meaning. We are destined to do and be in the world in such a way that uplifts, heals, and elevates others in our community. In psychological, philosophical and religious literature, these ideas fall within the realm of existentialism or eudaimonic well-being.  I know. That’s lots of big words. Don’t rush off to Google or dictionary.com right now. Basically, it boils down to human striving to find meaning in our lives, specifically meaning connected to our spirituality.

In our everyday lives, especially in the world of those committed to wellness, we may hear people use the phrase, “I’m living my life on purpose”. It’s their mantra or proclamation of a commitment to stay focused on behaviors and mindsets that cultivate their best self – in mind and body. Building an overall sense of wellness from one day to the next is most often the aim. That includes staving off those extra pounds that always seem to be chasing us down, taking a breath before speaking when a co-worker does yet another immeasurably irritating thing and regularly reminding ourselves that our health matters. A strong, fit mind and body are certainly essential to living “on purpose”.  Health in our minds and bodies gives our spirit a peaceful and thriving house to live in but the spirit has its own unique work to do.

Hey guys, Houston here with Business Credit America and I wanna wish all of you a Happy New Year. I hope that you all had an amazing holiday season, and now it's the beginning of a new year; and with this year coming up, a lot of things are changing. The banks are gonna be loosening up on funding. So there's more opportunities. More real estate is gonna be coming on the market for those that are real estate investors. A lot of things are gonna start easing up for you to have the opportunity to grow your business and to get access to capital to help fund the business. So in this video, what I wanna do, I wanna talk about the three things that you do not want to ever share with your banker when you're trying to borrow money. Okay. And the first one we're talking about for business loan rejection key points.

And that first key point is, when you go to a bank and they ask you, "What do you wanna use the money for?" You do not wanna respond you wanna make use of the money for a business venture, or a real estate opportunity. The reason is, you sound like a gambler. Because you sound like you wanna take their money, and see if you have the opportunity to make profits, and then come back and pay them. You don't never sound like a gambler, when you're trying to borrow money. So never use these terms in explaining why you need money. And those terms are, you do not wanna say that you're looking into a business venture, or a real estate opportunity. This is just a poor way of communicating why you need money for your business or for your start-up. So this is Houston with Business Credit America. This is our first key point. We're talking about business loan rejection key points, and I hope that this is something that you can understand, and that you can work within your plan, as you move forward to get funding for your business. I really appreciate the support, and look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

If you have been promoting on Facebook using the Fan pages/ Business pages, you have seen your "reach" decline. Facebook has now shifted to more of a marketing platform for those selling goods, services or products. You must admit, you can't get free advertising anywhere so why would we expect Facebook to be any different.

Let me tell you what I have personally seen that continues to get great exposure on Facebook... V I D E O. Not just any video, but videos that are loaded directly into Facebook versus shared from Youtube or other websites. I am sure you have seen videos in your timeline that automatically start playing as you scroll by. This typically grabs your attention, you hit unmute and you watch the video. This auto start feature only happens with videos that are directly uploaded to Facebook and it appears that Facebook allows the videos to stay in the newsfeed longer and or allows the videos to be seen by more of your contacts.

Your NEW secret weapon on Facebook is V I D E O! Yep, you need to incorporate more video posts in your social media marketing. Why? Because more of your contacts/likes will see them and it will grab their attention quicker than a text or even picture post.

Mobile devices and tablets have made this process easy for you. Simply take a video with your mobile phone or tablet and use your Facebook app to upload the video to your page! Don't believe me, test it out and see for yourself...
