My poetry book "all I want" is in there along with other cool books.

Is it just me? I don't get! what's the purpose of starting a group and abandoning it? Personally, whenever I see this red flags start flying. I read this as a clear indication of someone who  doesn't follow through. It's not unreasonable to believe  these persons conduct business in the identical haphazard manner. I've visited several sites only to learn this is a common practice. This is 2011 and the last activity for some groups are 2008 and 2009! This is incredulous! Why leave it lingering? Interested persons come to join and looking for leadership to no avail. If you can identify yourself in this blog post, you have work to do!

The reality is, if this translates into how you conduct business, your business is in trouble! You're playing a losers game! More importantly you're treating your clients and employees disrespectfully. Not to mention destroying your reputation. Remember, you're not the only kid on the block! For example, BBWO has thousands of talented. and skilled professionals. Why should a client subject themselves to your unprofessionalism? You're not doing anyone a favor, and definitely not yourself!

When you went public with your blog, discussion or business you automatically came under the scrutiny of everyone. Sorry, it comes along with the territory. Everything you do reflects back on you as an individual and as a professional. We're here to support each other in our continued growth and development. I don't know everything, but I do know somethings. I'm always eager to learn. I'm also determined to represent myself and business in a professional manner. What do I know for sure? I know that my clients and potential clients are deserving of respect and professional service.

Product Differentiation in a Saturated Market

One of the questions that we often get from our clients is "How can we stand-out from other companies that are doing the same thing we are doing?".

This can be frustrating to those that have just started their business and encounter numerous companies that are providing the same products and services. This was an obstacle that MTS had to tackle in the early stages of our business development. It seemed that everywhere we turned we encountered grant writers, web developers, companies that focused on business development, people that write business plans and a host of other businesses that focused on working with the same audience that we target. 

We devised a simple plan to help us determine our niche in an over-saturated small business market. It took time and a lot of assessment and re-evaluation but finally we came up with what works for us. Since business is an ever evolving venture, our evaluation of the products and services we offer and the market that we target will always have to be re-evaluated just as often as we review and revise our business plan. These are the most important pieces of advice that we offier our clients:

• Understand that being a business owner means constant review, evaluation and re-working of your business plan.
• Think of ways that you can create a niche by analyzing your strengths and weaknesses and those of other businesses in  your area.
• Get to know other business owners in your area and see how they promote their products and services.
• Ask your customers what it is about your business that attracted them and made you their final choice.

One of the most important keys to successfully determining your niche is to know your strengths and weaknesses. Knowing your strengths will allow you to clearly focus your services and tailor your business to suit the needs of your clients. Also, building a strong relationship with your clients will allow you to better imporve upon your business strategies.

Lovely website, and lovely display of items. So, what's wrong with this picture? I waited patiently for a package to arrive which was already late. I accepted the explanation of an emergency, things happen. Finally, it arrived in a nicely padded decorative envelope. Here's where the problem started.There was no wrap on my articles and no apology for it's late arrival. On further examination, I realized there was no return address label and my address label was a piece of paper. I was both shocked, disappointed not to mention offended. How do you invest in creating a professional and lovely website, yet fail to invest in bubble wrap and professional business labels?

This is not a professional nor acceptable business practice! Business 101 demand the setting of standards of excellence! Your clients are deserving of professional business etiquette. Presentation tells your clients what you think of them and your business.There are Staples and other stationary stores on practically every corner. There is no excuse for shabby business practices!

There are some who believe they can short change persons of the same ethnicity. This is far from the truth! They scream about the lack of support. Yet fail to deliver on the product. Clients are clients. Everyone deserves professionalism and respect.

I looked forward to a lasting business relationship. However, first impressions are often lasting impressions.There is a solution. 1.Invest in professional business labels and bubble wrap. 2. Send brief notes of apology for late items. Remember, this is your business and reputation. It's returning satisfied customers that grow your business.

You're kidding me, right? I just watched a video of someone introducing herself as a coach. Someone who coaches those who wish to present themselves in a more effective and professional manner. She claimed to have helped thousands to achieve success. What's wrong with this picture, you're probably asking? The problem is the coach needs coaching. 

I don't believe the hype nor will anyone who views this video. Sister Coach as she will be referred to, started her video by singing. She then pulsed and stated "As you can hear I'm not a singer." Sister Coach, the problem is neither are you an effective speaker! What's missing? She had all the props but not the product! She closed her eyes, jumped around, was inarticulate and laughed at inappropriate times. Yet, Sister Coach's purpose is to teach public speaking and etiquette. Go figure!

Now, Sister Coach don't become angry. I've addressed issues which might be impacting your business negatively. If you wish to effectively grow your business, you must be willing to accept constructive criticism. I'm not implying you aren't the Diva you are. I'm simply stating that even the fiercest diva sometimes need assistance!

Before leaping into any business. Do your research! Don't rely solely on family and friends for business advice. Unless, they have knowledge or expertise in your field. My suggestion, seek out experts in your chosen field. If you seek out family and friends choose persons whose advice you respect highly. Individuals who will be honest with you. Often those who love us will refrain from sharing constructive criticism for fear of causing disappointment, hurting or offending the recipient.

People get stuck in a lifestyle of procrastination because they believe their own excuses for not taking action. Procrastination is the main reason that people fail to live richer and more fulfilling lives. If you're stuck in a rut of continual procrastination, make up your mind to stop making excuses.

If you've been making excuses for putting things off, here's how to take charge of your life. First, think about all the things you've been postponing-at work, at home, in your personal relationships, or for your personal development.

Make a list.

Now choose one thing on that list that you can do something about today. Write down every excuse you've given yourself for not having done anything about it yet. Ask yourself if you have considered all the consequences of your procrastination in this area. Do you want to live with them? Do you have a legitimate reason for postponing this job?

You have to be honest about this or it won't work. Forget about what other people think; look in the mirror and ask the hard questions. If you have a legitimate reason for delaying action in this area, move on to another item on the list. Find something that you can make happen today, simply by deciding to make it happen. Now do it. When you've completed this task successfully, your satisfaction will motivate you to repeat this process with another item on your list.  

Successful people know that their accomplishments depend on two things: taking action and staying focused on their goals. People who are successful in any business or profession have an ability to make things happen. All successful people win the war against procrastination because they develop certain traits. To defeat procrastination and get all you want out of life, you must:

- Know what you want.
- Force yourself to take action.
- Be willing to make mistakes and learn from them.
- Stop making excuses!

Now go back to your list and choose another project. Write down every excuse you've been giving yourself for not getting started, or for leaving it unfinished. Put as many things on the list as you can think of. Now try to eliminate one excuse at a time. Ask yourself hard questions: Why do I have to postpone this project? Is it necessary to go on postponing it? If Oprah Winfrey were in my situation, would she postpone it? What will happen if I keep putting this off? If I keep putting this off, when will I get it done? Can I get started on it now? What part of the job could I complete now? If I postpone this job now, what other job will I tackle to make better use of my time?

As you eliminate your excuses, think of what you can do today to make this project happen, and do it. Anne Frank wrote in her diary, "How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world." Make a decision to start improving your world today.
