Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I am so grateful to God for the miracle that He performed for my mother who is almost 73 years old. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer this summer. She the her regular mammogram and it came back negative. However, for some reason, her regular doctor and it was discovered that she had a lump and she was given biopsy and the results came back positive that the tumor was cancerous!

My other had surgery to remove the tumor and was told that it would be tested. Unfortunately she still tested positive for cancer and had another surgery and again it came back positive. So, my mother ended up having the mastectomy, making her fourth surgery within a month. To make matters worse, after the surgery, she had to go back for surgery the next day for one thing and they discovered a blood clot, which they removed! God has the final authority; He says in His Word that by the stripes of Jesus Christ we are already healed! My mother went back for her follow-up appointment and she is now cancer FREE!!! Glory to God!! My mother told me that she NEVER had any physical pain and not one time had to take any medication for pain!! All I can say is but God!!! Amen!!

I am more aware now than I have ever been since my mother went through this experience. At the age of 53, I had my first mammogram because I allow fear to prevent me from going. I was told that it would take about a week for the results, but I got a call the very next name and had to go back for further testing. All the tests came back negative but I have to go back in 6 mouths to make sure nothing has changed because I have some calcification.

It is so important to have regular breast exam and yearly mammograms. Early detection is key to your survival. It literally saved my mother's life. It was detected early!

An estimated 182,800 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in 2000.

Approximately 42,200 deaths will occur in women from breast cancer in 2000.

One in eight women or 12.6% of all women will get breast cancer in her lifetime.

Breast cancer risk increases with age and every woman is at risk.

Every 13 minutes a woman dies of breast cancer.

Seventy-seven percent of women with breast cancer are over 50.

Approximately 1400 cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in men in 2000 and 400 of those men will die.

More than 1.7 million women who have had breast cancer are still alive in the United States.

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in women between the ages of 15 and 54, and the second cause of cancer death in women 55 to 74.

Seventy-one percent of black women diagnosed with breast cancer experience a five-year survival rate, while eighty-six percent of white women experience five-year survival.

The first sign of breast cancer usually shows up on a woman's mammogram before it can be felt or any other symptoms are present.

Risks for breast cancer include a family history, atypical hyperplasia, delaying pregnancy until after age 30 or never becoming pregnant, early menstruation (before age 12), late menopause (after age 55), current use or use in the last ten years of oral contraceptives, and daily consumption of alcohol.

Early detection of breast cancer, through monthly breast self-exam and particularly yearly mammography after age 40, offers the best chance for survival.

Ninety-six percent of women who find and treat breast cancer early will be cancer-free after five years.

Over eighty percent of breast lumps are not cancerous, but benign such as fibrocystic breast disease.

Oral contraceptives may cause a slight increase in breast cancer risk; however 10 years after discontinuing use of oral contraceptives the risk is the same as for women who never used the pill.

Estrogen replacement therapy for over 5 years slightly increases breast cancer risk; however the increased risk appears to disappear 5-10 years after discontinuing the use of estrogen replacement therapy.

You are never too young to develop breast cancer! Breast Self-Exam should begin by the age of twenty.

Social Media Doesn't Matter!

The title of this blog post is probably somewhat startling isn't it? While many of us are rather passionate about Social Media and cannot go a day without checking our Facebook and Twitter, the fact of the matter is that to many people, social media is to a great degree meaningless! This is a point that many people often don't think about - but this is something that business owners and entrepreneurs especially need to remember.

I am amazed at how many people I encounter on a regular basis that rely solely on Facebook to "promote their products and services." Never mind the fact that one can only have so many friends on Facebook and need I mention the fact that most of what is posted will be ignored!

In the big scheme of things, the point I am making today is that if one has high expectations for building and growing business and profit, the level of thinking needs to surpass that of social media. Yes, social media is definitely a critical component in today's world and will continue to be, but it would be naïve to forget about the millions of people in the world (potential customers and prospects) who could give a darn about social media. Contrary to popular belief, people still appreciate face to face communication and interaction, especially when they have no idea who the individual really is behind the tweet or post!

Think about how many emails, texts and tweets that you personally ignore and delete on a daily basis! Ultimately, business building is about problem solving and acting and serving in the best interest of clients and customers. Business building is about establishing relationships. Business building goes way beyond jumping on the social media band wagon in hopes of making a quick buck.

Self Confidence Strategies

Self confidence is a belief in one's own abilities and talents. The way one thinks and believes will have an impact on his or her decisions. Gaining self confidence is a process in itself and one cannot have it overnight.
To develop a positive image and be successful one has to have
self confidence. It is the key to move towards success in a right direction. It also gives us the liberty to commit mistakes and cope with failure and simultaneously help us in dealing with it. Self-confidence develops from the confidence one has in own self.

To gain self-confidence, one has to adopt a few strategies:

Firstly one should always have a positive thought that will help in achieving and realizing one's own dreams and goals.

•One should have an intense desire to reach the preferred goal with a worthy purpose.

•Make a note of one's strengths and weaknesses: Listing down the strengths and weaknesses helps you in realizing your ability. Strengths help you in moving forward to achieve your goal and one can then focus on how to improve the weaknesses. One should never be afraid of showing positive strengths and qualities to others. Eliminate all negative thoughts of failure from the mind.

Focus on how to achieve the goal. Always appreciate the positive things in yourself and recognize it. This helps in gaining confidence and can do wonders to people.

•Always think of a positive outcome. If it comes out positive it is ok but if it is negative try it once again. Never give up trying. Success once achieved through hard work raises the bar of self confidence.

•Even if one has achieved and reached a goal, never believe it to be over. One goal leads to another and by doing so one gains confidence in oneself.

•They say appearances are deceptive but we are often judged on the basis of how we carry ourselves and how well we interact with people.

•Maintaining a straight posture and walking confidently has a positive impact.

Always be happy and show a positive feeling. Smile.

To sum up, to gain self-confidence one should always be positive and think positively to convert the weaknesses into strengths. With strong determination and following the plan given above one can surely improve the self-confidence.

But I do have to admit, although I have my family on a strict budget plan, and although we stay within our spending limits overall. The area we tend to overspend is with the grocery/food bill. Making the Most Out of Unofficial Visits

Pretend, for a moment, that you’re a college coach. Each and every day, you’re bombarded with countless standardized emails from potential recruits, all of whom insist they’d “love to come and play for your school.” After years playing the recruiting game, though, you’re too savvy for this tactic, and you realize that many of these prospects have sent an identical email of “sincere interest” to dozens of other schools. Now let’s imagine that one of these emailer-recruits shows up on your campus, having funded the visit on his own dime, and tells you in person that he’d “love to come and play for your school.” This expression of interest is a little harder to doubt, huh?

Unofficial visits are an incredibly important way for an athlete to prove to a college coach that he or she is genuinely interested in a particular school. While they lack the glamour and cachet of “official” visits - remember He Got Game? - unofficial visits can serve many of the same purposes, and can potentially be more effective than official visits for purposes of showing true interest. While the number of unofficial visits a recruit can take is unlimited, as contrasted with the restrictions on official visits, presumably no athlete can personally fund visits to every school he is merely considering, so a coach can’t help but take your interest seriously. By following these few basic guidelines, you can both maximize the impact of your visits and save yourself a bit of money along the way.

First, and most importantly, come up with a list of schools you can realistically see yourself attending. Next, plan to visit schools on a date when you’re certain the coach will be on campus, perhaps on a weekend when other recruits are being entertained. Contact the coach and let him know you’re planning to visit, and request a meeting to discuss the university, the program, and your interest. It’s also helpful to contact the admissions office before the meeting, both to learn a bit about the school academically and to schedule a guided tour of the campus.

Just because the visit is “unofficial” doesn’t mean you should come unprepared think of it as a preliminary job interview. Marc Thibeault, of John Carroll University, can attest to the impression given by an unprepared recruit on an unofficial visit: “ I can’t tell you how many times a recruit shows up with holes in his jeans, hat backwards, earring in and really has no questions when they visit.” If you’re hoping for a scholarship offer from a school, why not take the time to prepare some thoughtful questions about the direction of the program, or about the school’s academic reputation, so that a coach understands you’re responsible and concerned about your future?

Don’t be fooled into thinking of unofficial visits as the “ugly cousin” of official visits. In some sense, unofficial visits are a tool to “officially” establish your interest in a school, at least as far as the coach is concerned, and so they’ll help you immediately be taken more seriously as a potential recruit. Plan ahead and come prepared, so you won’t waste your and family’s valuable time and money.

I recently met with a potential client yesterday; this client which of course will remain nameless had two very large life insurance policies (amounts I will not disclose). My goal for the meeting was to illustrate to him how he can still obtain the same amount of insurance he currently has and pay less in policy premiums. His response to my illustration was what would happen to the payments that I have made for over 15 years. Now, its not important for me to write word by word the whole conversation me and client had, but what I want to point out is, there are some individuals that believe that their insurance payments are a form of investments and that if I exchange one policy for another I’m going to lose the amount that I invested in the policy; another fallacy is how long will it take me to rebuild my savings with this policy? Well insurance is to help and assist you with risk, Life insurance is to help, manage and protect your love ones from risk that may occur in the event of your death. So my goal to any client or potential client; what was the goal when you purchase this policy, is it to pay any expenses at the time of death, create a legacy your love ones, or to assist you with your with Estate planning goals; now those are just some examples on how life insurance can help you manage risk. My goal with this writing is not to put down any type of life insurance product, I’m an advocate that Term, Whole Life, Universal Life and Variable Life have their place, but my goal is to always find out what do you want to accomplish by purchasing Life insurance.

How would you like to increase your bottom line? One way to increase yourbottom line is by adding income streams. I’m going to share with youpossible income streams. You don’t have to be stuck with one way ofbringing in revenue. There are ways to monetize your efforts.

Here are a few options.

Public Speaking
You can reach more people in a short period of time when you You can getyour message out to them about the solutions you provide. It’s also away for them to get to know you up close and personal.

When approaching this income stream it’s good to come up with your topic. Determine the results you want.

Simplify. You don’t have to go in depth.
Introduce your topic – Share the content and then summarize what you’ve said and close with how you can support them.

You might want to introduce your free offer. Free consult, free tips page. You can also have a free drawing by collecting business cards and letthem know that they’ll receive updates from you.

One essential thing is follow up. Develop a system for following up with individuals.

The one to many model. This is where you’re leveraging your time byworking with groups. Some examples would be my Teleseminars, BoostCamp, live workshops, Make it Happen “30 Days of Empowerment” Mentoring program.

This is a good model for two reasons you’re able to offer your program tomore people and charge less for your time and you can also turn theminto passive income when you record them.

Some other ideas for adding income streams would be ebooks, ecourses, telecourses,CDs,
PDFs,Audios, membership programs etc. These are also called passive income because you create it once and sell it over and over again.

I’d suggest that you start with what you’re most comfortable with. Are youcomfortable with writing? You could start off with writing a specialreport. Do you have tips or articles that you’ve posted? How about blogposts with a similar theme? You can compile these and create a specialreport. Are you better with speaking? Use sites likewww.freeconferencecall.com to record yourself and create an audioseries.

There are many ways to get started. This would also be a great project for my upcoming Make it Happen “30 days of Empowerment” Mentoring Program.

I’d like to offer you a chance to get started on adding an income streamtoday. My new Coaching quick start Silver Program. This will offer youguidance on the basics of adding this model to your current business orthe special report that’s included will offer ways you can get startedwith a couple of great ideas.

I am only opening up 50 spaces for this introductory investment level.

How Are You "Connecting Your Business?"

The difference between the businesses that are struggling and failing and the ones who are effective tends to be pretty obvious. . One of the keys to financial success is seeking assistance in areas that are lacking as well as in areas that you know nothing about. It is a very smart move to utilize expert training and effective tools and services. There is absolutely nothing wrong with needing help! In fact, if you don't think that you need help in any areas, you are probably in denial.

3 Tips for Connecting Your Business:

1.) Join Networking Groups and/or Meet-up Groups. Many powerful relationships and partnerships can be formed by gathering with other business owners and entrepreneurs to discuss business, challenges and ideas. Start meeting up; it adds value. But make sure that you can also be a valuable contributor. No one respects or appreciates a freeloader!

2) Utilize Your Social Networking Connects: Many if not all social networking sites also have groups and forums. These are valuable resources to connect with others in your industry. Join the forums, read the forum postings and interact with other like minded individuals in these environments. There is nothing to lose here.

3) Utilize Your Local Small Business Resource Centers: There are many resources in your local community that are centered around the small business owner such as the local SBA and SCORE. Organizations such as these can be critical contributors to key information for business building and more importantly; business education.

Take advantage of the many resources that are readily available that so often go unused! Remember that what you don't know, can and will hurt you. Lessen Your Workload With Autoresponders

Are you manually responding to every single request that comes in through your website? For example, say you are offering a free e-book to those who join your mailing list. Or, perhaps you are giving your audience access to a video tutorial or webinar recording. When you only have a few prospects and/or clients, this may not be such a big deal. But, what if you are receiving ten and twenty requests a week? Or, in one day?

Find out what is an autoresponder and why you should be using them...

If there is one thing that is certain in life it's.....

We all know this saying and it's true. Some of us have unfiled tax returns and may think that they are safe if three years has past and the IRS hasn't knocked on their door. This actually may not be true! Fortunately one of my favorite websites for knowledgeable legal tax advice comes from Taxgirl.com (love her site!)

Below are three very important tips every person should know regarding your tax return.:
1. There is a statute of Limitation (SOL) of 3 years for assessment of taxes expires 3 years from the due date of the return OR the date you filed.
2. If you fail to file, guess what? The SOL never kicks in so it's totally still up for grabs!
3.With respect to collections, the IRS generally has ten (10) years after the date of the assessment of tax or levy to collect.

The best advice is if you haven't filed your return it's best to get with a professional to help you navigate through the process. Also you have 3 years to have your taxes amended if you believe it was an error. Don't assume the 3 years SOL is as simple as it seems. Luckily my firm and partners are offering free tax review services for tax years 2007, 2008, and 2009 and so far have discovered several errors, missed deductions and more.

It is 3 years BUT if youNEVER filed the SOL never starts (so the ...3 year rule may not apply)One of our FAV blog sites for excellent tax information comes from Taxgirl . Check it out

Alicia Keys Makeover

A few months ago I was working on updating my portfolio with Fortune Hair Design to build our brand. We gather up a few models plus a photographer and venture out to New Jersey for a photo shoot. What an amazing project. The models were well prepared to work the camera; each model had their own unique style. After the second model makeup/hair was completed we realize she look just like Alicia Keys. Amanda look blew us away. Awesome! I had to share this information with my readers check out Alicia Keys look a like makeover…

Wanted: Security Clearance

Do you want a Secure, High Paying Job with the Nation’s Top Government agencies or defense contractors?

According to the 2010 Security Clearance Jobs Salary Survey, nearly 60% of security-cleared professionals received an increase in compensation in the past year with California topping the list as the highest-earning place for security-cleared jobs. We already know that professionals holding security clearances enjoy salaries that are $5,000 to $10,000 more than the average employee and this survey shows that the salary continues to rise—despite our tough economic times.

It’s no surprise to find that professionals holding higher security clearance receive higher compensation and often record the greatest frequency of receiving an increase, but what I did find interesting about this survey is that 62% of respondents are satisfied with their present careers--for cleared human resources professionals, IT program managers and telecommunications engineers that job satisfaction percentage tops 70%. These statistics—while a slight decline from last year’s survey—are much higher than what many studies are showing for overall job satisfaction for American workers. As the 2009 survey stated, “…satisfaction may simply be security-cleared professionals recognizing the coveted stability their status affords them, in conjunction with continued solid demand for their services.”

During a time when finding good news about the job market is hard to find, it’s refreshing to see at least one industry is not only continuing to see an increase in salary, but job satisfaction continues to be above the national average as well. So, are you in demand? If you haven’t thought about getting a security clearance for yourself and/or your business, you should—and start enjoying the benefits that only come with true job satisfaction!
