You need to make sure your marketing message resonates with the audience you are targeting. Most business owners don't spend enough time in selecting who they are going to market to.Not only do you have to select the right target market but you need to make sure that they want what you provide. Most people think they need to reach a lot pf people but that’s not true you need to reach the most qualified people.The key to your success is shrinking the size of your target market so you can market to them over and over again. It is immeasurably better to contact a prospect list of 1,000 people continuously than it is to mail to 10,000 one-time.That is why I love lead generation marketing. You can mail some many times to a huge group of prospects and then only contact those who raise their hand and show they are interested in what you have to offer.If you have an extremely small target market, you should probably forgo lead generation and just start contacting them at least once a month via email or by phone but if you have a huge list of suspects, then you should absolutely use lead generation advertising you start by sending letters to a small target audience to shrink the size of your list.Bottom line: You need to shrink the size of our target market so you can contact your prospects repetitively."Would you like to learn more simple ways entrepreneurs can grow their business, and create more money, time, and freedom in their businesses? Busy Bee

I was a busy bee last week. We had a mandatory shutdown on President's Day, I got my wisdom teeth pulled on Wednesday and took Thursday off to "recover".I had plenty of time to get alot of things done. Monday I spent most of the day cutting and making 4 new bags for the Spring. I have 2 new Jenni bags up and posted and I also made 2 more Book Totes. I just love those 2 styles and every time I look at the photo's, I just want to keep them for myself.

I started making product pages for my website and I am satisfied with that. Building a website with NO prior knowledge of HTML and such is hard... it's VERY hard. But it is worth it. I love knowing that I created it. It is trulya great testimony to the social reform that is taking place in the World today.As an African American I am overwhelmed with joy and excitement about what thefuture holds. No longer can any excuse be used to justify a lack of initiative.However as a Christian when I reflect on where the church is, I must admit thatI am saddened. Despite the fact that Martin Luther King, Jr. shamed hisChristian brethren in 1963 with the words "we must face the fact that inAmerica, the church is still the most segregated major institution in America."At 11:00 on Sunday morning when we stand and sing and Christ has no east orwest, we stand at the most segregated hour in this nation."According to the Multiracial Congregations Project only 8% percent of churchesare statistically multiracial, meaning that no one racial-ethnic groupconstitutes more than 80% of the membership.Obviously, there are some practical reasons for separate worship such as musicperformance, preaching styles and worshiping closer to home.Worshiping separately is both bad and a good thing. Bad in the sense it givesthe impression of disunity within the body of Christ. It says that we are whiteor black first and Christian second. It could be viewed as good only in thesense we get to worship in freedom, where we want.Paul, in his letter to Galatians said "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there isneither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one inChrist Jesus." In Christ we are Christians! Our race, ethnicity, income,posterity and educational achievements should all be secondary to the fact weare Christian!Let's not let reform only exist in the world of politics; let's reform thechurch by understanding who we are in Christ and walking in love.

Loving God, Loving OthersWe live in a world today where love, the unselfish loyal concern for others, isnot discussed, described, nor displayed enough. But there is discussion,description, and a full display of the opposite of it.There's war, violence, hate, prejudice and much more we see and hear ofeveryday. And in the body of Christ, it's not in full operation or productioneither. There's jealousy, envy, strife, selfishness and much more when we walkin and out of those doors of the "four walls."We the church are the light of the world, so the love that flows from God intous, should flow out of us, and be more evident and reflective among us. "Yourlove for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples." (John13:35).How can we say that we love God without having the love of the Lord for oursisters and brothers? It can't happen any other way. When we love others, it'salso a sign of worship to the Lord. As our love for the Lord continues todevelop and grow inside of our hearts, minds, spirits, and souls, we can't helpbut love one another.As a Worship Leader, after leading God's people into His presence, I would oftenremind the people of God, "Now with that same love that you have, turn and showsomeone else that you love them." Jesus, the True Vine tells us, "I command youto love each other in the same way that I love you." (John 15:12).1 Corinthians Chapter 13 is what we call the love chapter. It tells us that wecan have every gift and tremendous talent there is, but if we don't have loveone for another, they wouldn't mean a thing to God, because he calls His peopleto love each other.The gift of speaking in tongues would sound like brass used for making a loudsound or like clashing cymbals, just a bunch of noise! We can have the gift ofprophecy and know everything about everything and the gift of faith where wecould speak to a mountain and tell it, "Get out of my way!" but we have no love,we wouldn't be of any good or help to anybody. We would be absolutely nothing.This chapter of the word of God is one that we can read over and over and overand then apply it to our lives over and over and over . . . the greatest of allis love.To love others also means to forgive others. If you love someone, you should beable to forgive them also. That's the kind of love that God has for us. When wesay we love God and others, we're also saying that we need one another too.There's a song that we sing often in our church entitled, I Need You To Survive.Let this song become a part of you today.

Somebody Needs What You Can GiveNumbers are significant to God.The number "9" signifies "gifts," and "fruit." 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 states thatwe are given nine different ways in which the Holy Spirit shows Himself in ourlives. And as with the "gifts of the Spirit" described in Galatians 5:22, theseare inner qualities that bless those around us when we share them.For those of us who love God and truly want to see His presence manifested inour lives, I believe that in 2009 it will be especially important to reach outto those around us with the gifts we are given.How we share our blessings, gifts, and talents with others is how we show God'slove and allow our lives to be a light to the world around us.Love is a verb - an action word. We can love those around us by our simpleactions of giving. Each of us has something to give our world. And somebody outthere needs what you can give!Giving is not about a financial thing -- although that is one way to give.Sharing with others stems from our inner being; it is giving of ourselves, ourtalents and our abilities. Today one of the most valuable gifts we can givesomeone may be our time.Any time is a good time to give, however, during seasons of struggle, hardship,or transition -- which many of us are experiencing now -- I think it isespecially important. It is easy to become self-absorbed, and feel we havenothing to give.But I assure you, you have something somebody needs. It may be a warm smile, ora friendly touch! I have found through my own experiences that when I'm goingthrough difficult times, it helps to make a deliberate and conscious choice togive of myself to others.While going through a series of very painful experiences, I visited a nearbynursing home and devoted a portion of every week to five elderly people who hadnobody else visiting them. My gifts to them were simple:I listened to stories of their childhood adventures.I held their hands and told them stories of my own.I joked with them.Sometimes I brought them soft cookies they could "gum" on -- or little bouquetsof flowers they could smell, even if they couldn't see them.By sharing simple acts of kindness with these precious seniors, not only wasGod's love manifested, but it brought me incredible blessings of joy andhappiness and allowed me to focus on the positive side of my personal life. Whenwe give to others it is impossible not to be blessed.In 2009, a year that I call "The Year of the Spirit," I encourage you to taketime to hear the small still voice within.Be sensitive to God's Spirit in every area of your life. Find simple ways ofsharing the gifts He has given you with the people around you. You will, inturn, find yourself filled with joy and contentment, as you become His handextended to a hurting world.Remember, your life is a gift from God - what you do with your life is your giftto Him.

As a Black Woman Entrepreneur, Marketing Consultant & Coach, who works with women of color who are struggling to establish their presence in the business world both online and offline & struggling to attract more customers in order to build successful business both online and offline. I would like to share ideas on what other African American Women Entrepreneurs (any woman) can begin to do now to accomplish her goals in 9 simple steps!It is widely known, to the detriment of many capable african american and black women owned business that there exists a concrete ceiling that is difficult to shatter. That coupled with the glass ceiling effect that many women in general have encountered, throw in race and gender, a Black business woman might as well have a quadruple by-pass surgery and call it a day.Barriers facing African-American women in business include and are not limited to negative, race-based stereotypes, more frequent questioning of their credibility and authority; and a lack of institutional support. Experiencing a "double outsider" status -African-American business women report exclusion from informal networks, and conflicted relationships with white women, among the challenges they face. These results beg the question is there any use in trying to break through the ceilings?

Well if recent events, that being the election of the first American-American president and the First black lady are not enough to persuade you that “yes you can” then perhaps there is no reason for you to venture. The real issue is a lack of focus and strategy.

To help you rise up to the occasion and claim your birth right and focus on living a more fulfilled life, career, and business goals, I have created a simple system, which I call “9 Pillars To A More Fulfilled You.” Here are the 10 key tips:1. Honey, Child You Gotts To Let It Go: I have always loved that song by Toni Braxton, herself Black woman and astute woman entrepreneur herself, Let It Flow. You cannot possibly begin to receive the good that before you if you are still hanging on to the pains and fears of yesterday. The day has finally come for the fulifilment of this prophecy “I have a dream that one day our children will not be judged by the color or their skin but by the content of their character! Pastor, Dr. Martin Luther King. I recommend that you make thesong let it flow your anthem!2. Find a mentor/coach: Numerous studies, both private and government funded have been conducted to understand the barriers facing women and minority owned businesses The most common recommendation that has been made in favor of the up ward mobility of African-American women is the need, the inclusion and the establishment of mentoring programs and mentorship. The game is often won before you get onto the field, If you are going to play the game you had better find on your side a really savvy business coach and consultant3. Become A Visionary: Now we all know black folk go to church, I also know that you will be very familiar with this phrase, Where there is no vision, the people perish. In other words what are you looking to get done at the end of the day? Quit your job? Retire your husband? Spend more time with your children? Paint? Learn to cook? Long walks on the beach? What do you value the most? What is it that you most desire?4. Create a 90-day plan: With recent vision boards craze, I encounter many heart-broken people who wonder why they have been able to materialize their dreams of MacMansions, bling and whips! It is very simple A goal not written is merely a wish. A goal without a plan is a ticking time bomb. It spells nothing but failure. Make a list of the life areas you want to work on such as: spiritual, physical, financial, career, relationships, etc. Next, write out your goals for each area. Then, put your goals into a 90-day plan. Planning in 90-day cycles will help you accomplish twice as much in half the time.5. Make it Your Business to Be in the Know- Read a book: Another major obstacle to the advancement of the black woman owned business is Limited Access to Critical Information and Business Networks, when you don’t have the right information, it is difficult to compete. You are as successful as the last book you read. It is very important you become very selective about the material you allow yourself to absorb. Just like it is true that you are what you eat, As a [woman] thinketh, so is [s]he. My people perish for lack of knowledge. As the risk of beating a dead horse, knowledge is power!6. Get A Website: Bill Gates, you know the owner of Micro-Soft and 3rd richest man in the world? He says “there are two types of businesses, those with websites and those that are out of business! Studies show that about 75% of people go online to find out more about you and your product. The preferred site to do this is Google. Of these 50% of these people will purchase a product from you online, but only if you have online presence!7. Track your results: Those that loose weight and keep it off the longest are those that keep a record of their activities. You see it is very difficult to know where you are headed if you haven’t a clue where you came from. It is also easy to beat yourself up when you don’t have proof of how far you have come or how well you are doing. Journals are highly recommended, track progress, document every little success. You see success is nothing but a series of compounding events with a big pay off, Compound interest anyone?8. Pace yourself: Success is not a destination but a journey. Multi-tasking is so 2008! Stop and smell the roses and remember it is not a race to the finish line9. Take time for you: You know Bono of U2 sang it best when he crooned

Women we are the worst at this be they stay at home moms, professional business women and/or small business owners. At the end of the day we have given it all with nothing left for yourself. Is it a wonder you have no energy left to make the changes that will bring you happiness? Even Jesus Christ, Buddha, Mohammed took a time out. What is it that the Bible say? 6 days He created the earth on the seventh day He rested? Half an hour a day to yourself for 15 minutes deep breathing is a must and 15 just to enjoy the silence.10. Reward yourself: On a weekly basis, review the progress that you are making on your goals. With every accomplishment take time to recognize your achievement and pop in Kool & The Gang

With the new Obama administration putting Billions into upgrading and modernizing IT infrastructure....we've got to spread the knowledge. Like one of the participants said, we can't take advantage of what, we don't know about.For example, Mr. Agustina Urginna, of the California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF) talked about how CETF is investing millions into the Los Angeles community....Today, Right Now, As We Speak!!!CETF provides leadership and grant funds statewide to minimize the Digital Divide by accelerating the deployment and adoption of broadband and other advanced communication services to unserved and underserved communities. (see www.cetfund.org)CETF's is on a mission to ensure that California is a global leader in the availability and use of Broadband technology by levering $60 million in seed funding, to achieve an impact of about $250 million. What do they mean by leveraging? By partnering with municipalities, non-profits, and community groups (think BDPA, Black Engineers, Kappa's, CDC's, etc.), CEFT hopes to gain a four-fold return on their grant funding.CEFT programs, like the Southeast Cities Technology Collaborative, will help approximately 3,200 LA residents close the Digital Divide with Broadband Internet access and education. CETF and the City of Vernon have presented grant awards of $476,000 and $301,000 respectively to the three-year initiative, providing refurbished computers, and training in support of community and educational groups.Another enlightening speaker was Mrs. Selma Taylor, Executive Director of California Resources & Training (CARAT). She discussed how the CETF Small Business Initiative Project was developing solid economic data to identify and assist low and moderate income small business owners in utilizing and benefiting from Broadband technology. CETF and CARAT is currently doing a statewide small business broadband survey to quantify and highlight the unmet needs of the small business community. They raffled off $100 to those that completed a CETF survey.California Assembly Member Curren Price Jr., Chairman of the California State Assembly, Select Committee on Procurement, talked about his efforts to ensure small businesses and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) are able to apply for, and gain government contracts. Especially in light of the unprecedented $43 Billion authorized by the four infrastructure bonds and Proposition 84.Michael Falkow, CIO and Acting Assistant City Administrator for the City of Inglewood, reiterated and validated, Assemblymen Price's talk on creating a transparent and accessible procurement process that would expand opportunities for small and minority owned business in the City of Inglewood.Revlyn Williams, Chairperson of the Sub-Committee on Technology Committee for a Better 51st Assembly District, handed out a leaflet listing the contact info for Procurement offices of the different cities, university and school districts in the 51st Assembly District…invaluable info for small business that want to get on vendor lists.Bryan Franklin, founder and CEO of 1iMall.com was in the audience....networking and informing people about Project First Job (www.projectfirstjob.com), paying students to STAY in school.
