In the Mirror

Well this is the morning and it’s time to go there ya’ll. I pray you are awed by the beauty of the flowers, touched by a gentle breeze and reveling in a peaceful, knowing freedom. I am so grateful for this transcendent community called cyberspace and blessed by the love, correction, wisdom and support I/NUMN continuously receives from all of you. You are the light seen around the world; it shines through each and every one of you. Thank you.I found myself sitting on the front porch apologizing to my dad the other day. Yeah, the same dad I’ve told ya’ll so much about previously. Wanted to share it with you instantly, but even in that freeing moment, it seemed a little strange to me too. I was reading Eckhart Tolle’s “A New Earth” and suddenly I knew it was never my dad’s, or my mom’s for that matter, intention to cause me pain. I’m not talking about understood in an intellectualized kind of way; I’m talking revelation- Stockholm syndrome erasing, generational curse breaking, nagging little voice silencing- knowing. The dad that I wanted so desperately to value me, to feed my need for love, could not. He couldn’t see me, couldn’t see himself through the veil/armor of his own pain.It makes me cry to realize that I’ve done to him what he did to me. I failed to see his desperate need for love and compassion, because I could only see my dad through the filter of my experience, what he’s done to me, how he’d abandoned me and let me down. I could only see the way his pain affected me. I don’t think I ever before considered how it affected him.I thought I’d done all the forgiveness stuff long ago. After all I was no longer angry at him or crippled by the legacy. I had solid proof the God was turning misery to ministry. I mean check it out, ya’ll know me; ya’ll know NUMN. We’re doing some good things and growing in the right direction. Folks are listening, participating and we’re starting to make a difference. Clearly, the stumbling blocks rooted in the past are overcome. Can ya’ll say, “delusional”? LOL Could be still. That’s the funny thing about growth; you never know what a flower is going to look like until it unfolds.Take a moment today to contemplate our interdependence, to look beyond the veils and masks that falsely separate us. Give to another that which you long most deeply for and let freedom truly ring.Like everyone else Not Ur Momma’s News will be honoring Michael Jackson in our Tuesday edition. We are inviting you to share your memories and tributes with your entire NUMN family. Please send your remarks to publisher@noturmommasnews.com no later than Monday, July 6th at 12 PM

I believe the process of questioning is one of the greatest skills a business woman can have when it comes to staying in touch with how your business is performing and how you are doing as the CEO of your company.Asking yourself the right questions and finding solutions and answers to them will not only help you to stay on the road of being real with yourself, but it will also help you to see the necessary changes that need to be made for business growth.Below are 12 questions you can use to start the evaluation process:1. Have I completed a current cash flow analysis to measure my business financially?2. What are the weak areas in my business that need improvement?3. Have I implemented a consistent marketing strategy?4. Is my marketing strategy working?5. What is my sales ratio (the # of prospects you convert into customers)?6. Do I stay “sticky” (in consistent communication) with my current customers/clients?7. What skill sets do I need to improve in as a business owner?8. What business services and/or products do I need to eliminate?9. How are my competitors marketing?10. What is the latest information and updates about my industry?11. Does my business support my overall vision and goals?12. Am I willing to make the changes necessary to help my business to grow?Ask yourself the above questions on a quarterly basis and Keep records for comparison and positive changes. Also, create your own questions that will help you to better evaluate yourself and your business. Once you have identified processes that are not working positively in your business, it will be important to make a sound decision on how to eliminate or change them.About the Writer:Trina Newby is founder of Women About Biz an online small business education and connection network just for business women. Running Late

Living a life out of balance can become a habit. A life that lacks focus and direction will soon become unbalanced. When this repeatedly happens this unbalance actually becomes the norm. It can begin to feel comfortable. One major area that tends to quickly become unbalanced is your daily schedule. Those who live a unbalanced tend to always run late. I lived my life for a long time in a state of tardiness. People began to expect me to arrive 5 to 15 minutes late. I was late for work, for church, for doctor's appointments, etc. If I was supposed to be somewhere, you could guarantee that I was going to be late. Rushing from Point A to Point B was just how I lived.I had subconsciously began to justify my habitual tardiness. I had convinced myself that I was always late because I always had too much to do. But then I realized that I have control over my schedule. I finally decided that I was tired of always having to drive like a maniac to get somewhere. I got tired of the undue stress. This stress was completely unnecessary. There are several keys to keeping your schedule balanced:1. Be realistic with your time estimates. Don't underestimate the amount of time it will take to accomplish a specific task. I would often do this in hopes that I could squeeze more tasks into 24 hours. This doesn't work. Also, include the amount of time you need to get to and from a destination. In addition, build in a some time for the unexpected (i.e. traffic).2. Write Your Schedule Down. Writing down your schedule helps you to mentally plan out your day. This also allows you the opportunity to look at your schedule and give it a "sanity check". Looking at your schedule gives you a snapshot of your day. You can check to see if you're overbooked (this was also a bad habit of mine). The reality is that you can't be in two places at one time.A good idea is to sit down at the beginning of each month and write down your commitments. Its also a great idea to do this at the beginning of each week. That way you can make any changes to your schedule as necessary.3. Schedule Some Me Time. As busy women, we sometimes put our needs last on our list. One way to help combat this mentality is to actually schedule some personal time. I recommend a little time each day. You don't have to allot yourself several hours. However, schedule yourself some "Me" time to take a relaxing bubble bath or give yourself 30 minutes to read some of that book you have on your nightstand. Find the time. Some like to schedule their "Me" time first thing in the morning. Others wait until everyone is in bed at night. Do what works for you, but just give yourself some time.4. Say No. Sometimes, we just have to say "No." It's OK. As women, we sometimes overextend ourselves. We also agree to do things that we really don't want to do. When asked to do something, consciously think about your schedule. What does your day, week and month look like. Is this an extremely busy time at home or at work? Do you want to do it? Factor these things in before committing.Keeping these four points in mind will assist you in building a balanced schedule and a balanced life. It may take some time to get the schedule down. But that's ok. Continue to work on your scheduling skills each day. Then it won't be long before your develop the positive habit of showing up on time.http://www.abalancedlifesite.com

Why Invest in Real Estate?

Why Invest in Real Estate? Why Invest in Real Estate is one of the most popular questions you’ll hear in the news today. As we have experienced an extreme downturn in our economy, many homeowners have been forced into foreclosure. The job loss rate has skyrocketed and many are trying to make it off of unemployment alone. This is scary to most Americans who are on the brink of financial destruction. Most people don’t believe that there is a way out of this crisis but there is. If investing in Real Estate has not crossed your mind just yet, take some time and think about what becoming an entrepreneur would mean. Becoming an entrepreneur would mean attaining a business and working that business so that you can become financial dependent on it. Real Estate can sell itself in most cases but you still have to put in the hard work, so that others will know that you are serious about buying and selling property. Real Estate is not only a business but a way of life for many. If you turn on the television, you’ll find a ton of fix and flip shows. You get excited at watching different homeowners buy, fix and flip their properties for profit. But the only thing is that you are on the opposite side of the tube! This should be you! There are a ton of reasons to invest in Real Estate but maintaining financial wealth and prosperity is definitely a great reason that comes to mind. Unfortunately, the foreclosure crisis has been hurtful to many but it has been a gold mine for Real Estate investors everywhere.A few other reasons to invest……..Appreciation - Rental properties normally appreciate in value with inflation. Increased value can mean sale and reinvestment in higher value properties, or provide an equity line of credit to use for other investments. This is the second, and a historically proven value component of real estate investment return.Inflation can be Rent-Friendly - Rents usually increase with inflation, while mortgage payments on the property remain stable. This increases cash flow, with more rent income without increased expense for holding the property. When inflation is up, it can also mean more renters, as the affordability of homes can be negatively impacted by inflation. More renters increases demand, so rents can escalate.Leverage - Using leverage, while being careful to buy properties with good rental yields, provides greater returns. Using $100,000 to purchase three properties with down payments, instead of one for $100,000 cash will greatly increase returns. And much more!If you have access to a computer or read the newspaper, you can see that Real Estate properties are all over and they are going fast! The first step in gaining financial freedom is attending my free seminar. Life: strange eventful historySixteenth-century English poet and dramatist William Shakespeare called life a “strange eventful history” that played itself out in several distinct stages. If you are sympathetic to this viewpoint, then you likely also believe that the American public figures that lost their lives this past week and a half died before their time. Whatever your perspective, those deaths—sudden or not—probably have you thinking about your own mortality; perhaps, you will appreciate the points of views expressed in these quotations:We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever; the goal is to create something that will.~ Chuck Palahniuk, American novelist, satirist & freelance journalist; 1961–Dream as if you’ll live forever. Live as if you’ll die today.~ James Dean, American actor (often cast as a young rebel); 1931–1955I don’t want to achieve immortality through my work; I want to achieve it through not dying.~ Woody Allen, American film director, screenwriter, author and musician; 1935–All the world’s a stage,And all the men and women merely players; They all have their exits and their entrances;~ William Shakespeare, English playwright, dramatist, poet; 1564–1616
