STAY STRONG FOCUS, AND MOVE ON

There is a popular term used that says, “Let Go and Let Flow”. During my journey to prosperity, I learned many tough lessons, including the one that co-workers, bosses, friends and especially family will discourage you in different ways. I remember when I was younger and working for the state department. For a year I had a fantastic supervisor, who always encouraged and told me to focus more on my studies, and to not get comfortable working in my department. He was promoted and replaced. I continued to keep to myself, do my work, study on my breaks, etc. After six months passed, I was told by my new supervisor that she and my co-workers felt that I was not taking my job seriously, and if I did not change my attitude I would be fired. I prayed about it, and remembered what my old supervisor told me. I stayed for another month, until ironically, my old supervisor offered me another job in his new department. My point is, although I wanted to tell the supervisor what she could do with the job, I did not. That job was helping me to pay some of my mortgages. A couple of years ago, when we were sleeping on a mattress on the floor, a relative would always ask me each time we spoke, if we finally had a bed to sleep on . Now that our bed can pay for a new car, I have no regrets about sleeping on floor. Although I always explained to this person that we wanted our money to work for us, it did not register. I have shared these stories because it is not easy to change your mind set on things. Just because you change your way of thinking, it does not mean others will change theirs. When you are going against mainstream’s society’s and beliefs, you and thinking out side the box, and this upsets and scares a lot of people What we have to remember is that wealthy people and families(with old money) like the Rockefeller’s, Morgan’s, etc, are thinking outside the box. This subject is not illegal or new. The term old money means just that; they have had their money for generations. Their money is being recycled in antiques, gold, silver, etc.We tend to get caught up in other people’s hang ups, instead of staying positive about things, and continuing to do what we need to do to get to the next level. That is a part of life, but as long as we remember that our Creator loves, guides and protects us, that should be our faith. Faith is important. The weekly challenge for the week is to do something nice for the that person who is giving you a hard time. Give him or her a magazine or book on Antiques or silver. Share this blog. Invite him or her to the Metropolitan museum or a local museum that exhibits fine art and antiques. Or just say thank-you. When I was a senior in high school, I worked at a fast food restaurant. I thanked the manager for telling me that I just was not cut out for fast food and then firing me. My point is to reverse the negative remarks and replace them with positive remarks. You can change the discouragement into encouragement. What I have learned over the years, is some people that were discouraging me were afraid, and wanted to do what I was doing. When they finally stepped out on faith he or she was very happy.

DO YOU KNOW THE LAW OF COUNTABILITY

THE LAW OF COUNTABILITYThe ‘Law Of Countability’ as described by John Maxwell, is a critical one in building teams and in effective teamwork. This is especially crucial when the stakes are high.People working towards a common goal, depend on the input and execution of tasks by each other. In fact tasks and accomplishment hinge on each other completing theirs. So the ‘Law Of Countability’ is not only important, but it ultimately determines the altitude a team will get to.Maxwell says the formula for ‘Countability’ is not complicated but its impact is powerfulThe formula for ‘Countability’ is as follows:1. CHARACTER: Character makes trust possible. Trust makes leadership possible. I you cannot trust someone, you will not count on them. Building a team, begins with building character in the individuals who make up the team2. COMPETENCE: Competence matters. Without competence, one person can put the entire team in jeopardy. Without competence the burden of the other teamsters become heavier3. COMMITMENT: Teams succeed or fail based on the commitment of teamsters to each other and the team. If a good team player ‘breaks a leg’ the others carry him to the top of the mountain. Many a time it is not about being the first one to the top of the mountain but that the whole team makes it to the top of the mountain4. CONSISTENCY: Consistency in a team is a key component. It keeps the flow of teamwork and reduces the need for other players to add to their work load if everyone stays consistent. Your consistency builds great confidence in you by you teammates5. COHESION: Cohesion is the glue which holds a team together. It is the journey to a worthwhile common goal that gives a team its identity and provides a foundation on which a team stands on. Maxwell describes it as ‘a pride in the ability of your group to function at a higher level than possible for the individual. The unit doesn’t shine because you’re a member, you shine because you’re good enough to be a member”Maxwell continues, “Without cohesion people aren’t really a team because they’re not pulling together. They’re merely a group of individuals working for the same organization.” So today as a leader or an aspiring leader, ask yourself, ‘Am I a team player?’ And do I have and exhibit the characteristics above clearly, in a manner that my team depends on it?” Your answer will tell you the whole story…Nadira Haniffwww.180DaysToGreatness.comwww.180DaysToProfit.comFollow me on Twitter www.twitter.com/nadirahaniffEmail: coach@nadirahaniff.com

I love Saving my mulah!

I had a fantabulous day today. Well first off I received some encouraging words from the counselor I met up with at SCORE. Next I decided to see if I could get my unsightly hair turned into a beautiful work of art to boost my dismal self esteem since I have been looking a wreck these past few weeks. Anyway I decided to call Empire beauty school and see if they could squeeze me in..well of course today and tomorrow are almost impossible days because of the holidays. I lucked out because the receptionist told me to come on in a.s.a.p. So I hightailed my butt to Empire up in Exton PA and waited not even 10 minutes and a young girl took me to the back to start to work her magic. Okay some points I have to share cause this wonderful student really did her thing...she #1 had to untangle my hair (okay okay so I brush my hair always instead of comb it..well they say combing your hair is like giving yourself a haircut). Okay back to my story..true yes it is...#2 She took her time and asked how I was doing and so did her boss (great customer service!)..#3 She did a fabulous job! See for yourself

and #4 THE ENTIRE THING COST ONLY $28.00!!!!!!!!! Yes I said it cost $28.00. Oh yeah and plus a $5.00 tip to her for doing her magic so in total $33.00. Why am I sharing this..well because you can save money people! I mean look, I usually go to JCPenny and shell out like $80-$85 for my hair with my usual stylist. But since I'm launching my start-up and working part time I have to cut the expenses if you know where I'm coming from. So why not get similar results and save $57.00 You wonder how you can get up that extra $100+ or more to start that savings account for the kids...this is how. Empire also offers discounted services like pedicures, waxing, manicures, acrylic nail tips, eyebrows, color treatments, etc! It's called cutting back. Also my mom and I were just talking about how she used to shop always at various consignment shops to grab my baby clothes, etc. She managed to save a lot of money which helped me (since she also helped shell some funds towards my first home purchase). Well here's to saving more and Empire Beauty School and all the other beauty schools out there saving us ladies a ton of cash offering discounted cosmetology services! Hey to look up a Empire in your neck of the woods go to www.empire.edu

You probably assume it's because you aren't earning enough money, but the truth is that for most people, whether or not you become a millionaire has very little to do with the amount of money you make. It's the way that you treat money in your daily life. Here are 10 possible reasons you aren't a millionaire:1. You Care What Your Neighbors Think: If you're competing against them and their material possessions, you're wasting your hard-earned money on toys to impress them instead of building your wealth.2. You Aren't Patient: Until the era of credit cards, it was difficult to spend more than you had. That is not the case today. If you have credit card debt because you couldn't wait until you had enough money to purchase something in cash, you are making others wealthy while keeping yourself in debt.3. You Have Bad Habits: Whether it's smoking, drinking, gambling or some other bad habit, the habit is using up a lot of money that could go toward building wealth. Most people don't realize that the cost of their bad habits extends far beyond the immediate cost. Take smoking, for example: It costs a lot more than the pack of cigarettes purchased. It also negatively affects your wealth in the form of higher insurance rates and decreased value of your home.4. You Have No Goals: It's difficult to build wealth if you haven't taken the time to know what you want. If you haven't set wealth goals, you aren't likely to attain them. You need to do more than state, "I want to be a millionaire." You need to take the time to set saving and investing goals on a yearly basis and come up with a plan for how to achieve those goals.5. You Haven't Prepared: Bad things happen to the best of people from time to time, and if you haven't prepared for such a thing to happen to you through insurance, any wealth that you might have built can be gone in an instant.6. You Try to Make a Quick Buck: For the vast majority of us, wealth doesn't come instantly. You may believe that people winning the lottery are a dime a dozen, but the truth is you're far more likely to get struck by lightning than win the lottery. This desire to get rich quickly likely extends into the way you invest, with similar results.7. You Rely on Others to Take Care of Your Money: You believe that others have more knowledge about money matters, and you rely exclusively on their judgment when deciding where you should invest your money. Unfortunately, most people want to make money themselves, and this is their primary objective when they tell you how to invest your money. Listen to other people's advice to get new ideas, but in the end you should know enough to make your own investing decisions.8. You Invest in Things You Don't Understand: Your hear that Bob has made a lot of money doing it, and you want to get in on the gravy train. If Bob really did make money, he did so because he understood how the investment worked. Throwing in your money because someone else has made money without fully understanding how the investment works will keep you from being wealthy.9. You're Financially Afraid: You are so scared of risk that you keep all your money in a savings account that is actually losing money when inflation is put into the equation, yet you refuse to move it to a place where higher rates of return are possible because you're afraid that you will lose money.10. You Ignore Your Finances: You take the attitude that if you make enough, the finances will take care of themselves. If you currently have debt, it will somehow resolve itself in the future. Unfortunately, it takes planning to become wealthy. It doesn't magically happen to the vast majority of people. In reality, it is probably not just one of the above bad habits that has kept you from becoming a millionaire, but a combination of a few of them. Take a hard look at the list, and do some reflecting. If you want to be a millionaire, it's well within your power, but you'll have to face the issues that are currently keeping you from creating that wealth before you will have a chance to call yourself one.--------------------------------Looking for more Small Business Information? The Big Gyrl Now, entry #1

Ladies I need to share this with you. That's what blogs are for right? Well, I recently attended the Delaware Black Awards a couple of weeks ago. I am proud to say that Big Gyrl Clothing was a finalist for the Best Retailer Award! Unfortunately we did not win, but we are all winners. Well, according to previous emails sent from DelawareBlack.com, it was going to be an elegant affair so I immediately starting thinking about a fabulous dress to make. Life becomes extremely hectic and busy in an instant and I did not get a chance to make my dress until 3am the day of. I finished the dress at 10am Friday, ran errands like a maniac, and by 6pm, was ready to attend the event. The dress is chocolate brown on the bottom and mint green on the top. There is gold detailing on the bottom of the dress with mint green and chocolate straps on top. The neckline was a braid of mint green and chocolate material. The dress was sleeveless with a train in the back. I wore my open toed gold shoes with an amber stone in the middle. They were strapped around the ankle. The event was held at the Grand Opera House which is a very popular place for comedy shows, concerts, orchestras, and other events. So my man and I finally arrived at the event. While we waiting in line I looked around excited seeing who was there and checking out other dresses. The only thing i saw were suits, business suits, jeans, a couple of plain garments, nothing elegant. Oh well, I always stand out no matter where I go, its just a positive nature and disposition that I have and carry with me, especially at a networking event. What I did not like were elevator eyes looking back at me. I will smile at everyone but most women would look like 'umph'. I am familiar with it, I have always and presently receive the Umph look everyday, but what bothers me is that 1- you are a grown a** woman looking at me like that because I have a beautiful and flattering gown on and you decided to where something casual, who's fault is that. 2- Do not hate on the big gyrl of the room and whisper and laugh when you cannot say anything to my face, who is the weak one? 3- We live in a country now that has a black president and you want to keep a petty mentality like this, come on, are you serious? I tell you ladies of BBC and I hope that I am not talking about anyone here and I pray that you do not act the same way as some of the ladies at the event was. Don't hate on the woman doing her thing. I am a fashion designer, I take risks in business, life, love, and clothing, I am not afraid of wearing anything and do not have a care in the world who talks about me. Until you live for yourself, you are not living at all. For us to overcome the major obstacles of racism, glass ceilings, etc. we must remove the hatred amongst each other. Who was standing there crying at Barack Obama's acceptance speech, Jesse Jackson. Did you know that he was on live television earlier this year saying he wanted to cut barack's testicles off? But yet despite all of this, he was overjoyed that obama won, he stood there crying tears of joy, not hatred and it takes a real man like obama to have someone who said such a thing to be there. I go through the same 'umph' situations at work but eventually the same chicks that talk all that mess, come around and ask where did I get this from, and they learn to respect me and my business. The awards night was wonderful and I met some great contacts for business. I did receive compliments on my dress as well, met some future models, and politic'd with the guys. All in all, with or without creating enemies, I had a great time. This is the first entry of the big gyrl now blog series where I will speak of various big gyrl comedies, tragedies, and life issues and successes. Hope you enjoyed this and if you are a hater or umph girl, don't you think its time you made a change? Maybe if you focused your energy on yourself instead of someone else, you will be halfway close to where they are.Keep motivated and have a fashion fabulous week!S

“Why do bloggers put so much focus upon growing RSS subscriber numbers to their blog if most of them only ever read your content in Feed Readers and don’t visit your blog?”This question (or variations of it) hit my inbox 3 times in 24 hours from different people so I thought I’d tackle it as a post instead of individual replies.Let me start by saying that this problem can be frustrating. You see your RSS subscriber number growing by your actual visitor numbers remain steady - as do your comment numbers. It can actually feel like you’re wasting your time - I remember myself feeling kinda like this guy when I first noticed this happening to me: continued at the blogs listed below.
