This is so tragic!!! Failing! I can't stand that word actually. It is so negative! And it's sad that failing is a reality for some business owners. Briefly, I will share with you the 5 reasons why most people fail :( in their first 30 days! Forget about the first year! Some people don't even make it that long!

1. Lack of training: Some people you decide to do business with might tell you something like: they provide free training, you're in business for yourself but not by yourself, call in every day at this time for an automated training message, etc etc. They tell you how simple it is to build a business and get you all revved up to jump in and start making truckloads of money and then you never hear from them again! Unfortunately, this happens all too often and new business owners are left to figure things out on their own. It is very important that you find a mentor to partner up with and help you along as you build your business.

2. Lack of focus: Let's be real here, you were just going along with your life and then all of a sudden you decided to start a business! Great decision, but the problem is that your life continues and you never adjust it to fit in your business! It takes TIME and dedication to build a successful business.

3. Lack of strategy: Can we say, BUSINESS PLAN? How many of you have ever enrolled in school WITHOUT a plan or blueprint of your 4 years at the institution! NO ONE HAS! You HAVE to have to plan for the things you want to succeed in.

4. Unwillingness to get down and dirty: If you are NOT uncomfortable within the first 18 months (at maximum) of your business, then you're doing something WRONG! It's ok for you to be uncomfortable calling or following up with people. Its ok to be uncomfortable telling someone about what you do and maybe asking them to join you. It's ok to be uncomfortable going to training sessions by yourself. It's ok to be UNCOMFORTABLE! Because believe it or not, eventually you WON'T be uncomfortable. And it will be apart of your routine. YOU HAVE TO BE CONSISTENT!

5. No desire or passion: This is a huge one! I always tell people they have enjoy the business they're in! Why would you have a traveling business but hate to travel? You have to be passionate about what you do! When you have passion for your business you will have a desire to succeed! And eventually all of these 5 reasons, although obstacles, will be triumphs!

The thing that seperates SUCCESSFUL business owners from the FAILED ones is that they keep trying. Whats the old saying? "IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED, TRY, TRY AGAIN!" There are even 2 trys in there! So you've got to stay motivated, stay prayerful, and stay positive when going through the excitements and woes of starting a business.

...Keep them off of it! Facebook is great for us adults to chat and to catch up with old friends, but it is not the safest site for your kids. Did you know that because of all the advertising on Facebook, your name and email are sometimes sold to these companies so they can advertise to you via email? If you haven't noticed, they do not offer any privacy features for your children. If you're a good parent, then you monitor your child's Facebook page regularly. But those who do not, there could be all kinds of things like cyber-bullying, inappropriate conversations, and predators that your children are being exposed to on Facebook.

Now, don't get me wrong. I use Facebook regularly. Facebook just doesn't offer very safe features for children. Therefore, I went searching and I found a social network that would be perfect for you and your kids! This social network, appropriately named CrazyGood, offers so much privacy, they don't even allow advertisements on the site! Their main goal is to provide a safe, secure, private, and fun community for their members. As a member, you receive 2 sub-accounts so you can sign your children up under your name and monitor what is going on IF you ever wanted to.

CrazyGood offers great content and value for their members. How many of you have ever experienced one of your Facebook friends using profanity, or had some one spam your page? Maybe you've even been exposed to nudity or someone trying to sell you something. Well on CrazyGood they ban anyone that is using profanity, nudity, spamming, etc. They frown upon anything that brings discord to the community and shut them down right away. Although they have very private settings, it is still a social network. A place where you can find old friends, or make new ones. If you're a business owner, evangelist or have news to share, you can MARKET all of that on CrazyGood.

Because CrazyGood has no advertisements, there is a small membership fee. But it's the cost of a McDonald's value meal with a drink and for that price, I'd say it's worth the privacy. The best thing about it is that they give 10% of all revenue to a charity of your choice! I know it's too good to be true, but it is! One of CrazyGood's missions is to help its members create financial security for themselves and their family. Therefore, if you tell your friends, who tell their friends, etc, you also get paid for each of them. So you're getting paid to socialize! Just think about it...how many Facebook friends do you have? How much do you make for socializing with them on Facebook? What was that?? Did you say, NOTHING?!! Right! But with CrazyGood, you get paid MONTHLY for your friends, their friends, and so on and so on. You have the potential to make at least $111,000 a month. (see for yourself => click here)

Bottom line is, CrazyGood is a safe environment for you and your family to socialize. You can enjoy your friends, profit from your friends and help somebody in need all at the same time. What better way to socialize?? Check it out and let me know what you think.

How to Not Get Overwhelmed

Yeah I said it. OVERWHELMED! Let's face it, we all deal with this at some point in our lives. Being overwhelmed or feeling overwhelmed. There are so many factors of building a business that can be overwhelming or seem like too much to handle. Here are 3 ways to keep yourself from being overwhelmed or get out of your overwhelm-ing-ness

Step 1- FOCUS

Step 2- FOCUS

Step 3- did I say, FOCUS?

Last week, my husband decided to purchase a new couch for our living room. We are moving into a new house soon but I didn't expect him to start buying furniture anytime soon! Anyhow, he starts sending me pictures of all of these couches and living room sets that he liked and thought I'd like and I almost threw my phone across the room! I appreciate him trying to take initiative, use his time off wisely, and make a purchase for our family, but the thought and process of choosing a couch set via text message pictures made me really overwhelmed and I couldn't handle it! There were so many pictures coming in, I had students in front of me (I'm a teacher by hobby :)), and I just couldn't FOCUS on what he was asking me. Eventually, I just asked him to find out what the return policy was, what their weekend hours were, and asked him to choose one he liked (If I don't like it, I can return it later).

Compare this to your business. If you are always looking at what others are doing, have so many business ideas that you start and stop on, then you are not FOCUSed. There's no way you could be successful with so many OTHER things going on. You need to chose. In my book, The Motivator (coming this summer!), I share that you should write down the actual hours you are going to work your business during the week and stick to them! Having a set amount of daily working hours will help you to not get so overwhelmed.

I mentioned earlier, "looking at what others are doing": If you were privileged enough to experience the twitter party this weekend, you saw or read information about so many different business people. Which was so cool to see. (Hat's off to LaShanda Henry of Black Business Women Online...mybbwo.com) However, if you are not FOCUSed in your business, still trying to figure out what services you're going to offer, then that might have been a little overwhelming for you. You were probably the one looking at everyone's website, getting ideas of what you want to do, then seeing someone else's website and seeing something ELSE you want to do, and eventually having too many ideas to choose from (don't get me wrong, it is always nice to check out other peoples websites to support them and refer people to them, but stay focused on what you are trying to do)!

Here are some things you need to do, in order to find your niche in business: First, you need to take the B.A.T. (Business Aptitude Test: determines what type of business would best for your personality type). This test will help you decide what you would most enjoy doing, if you could FIRE YOUR BOSS tomorrow! Second, you need to find a business coach ( I know a great one offering a FREE introductory consultation that can help, ME!). A business coach can help you create a business plan and hold you accountable for sticking to the plans. Once you have these two steps done, you will be on your way to success.

Remember the old saying, "time is money". So you are losing out when you are wasting time and distracted by other peoples websites and services You are losing out when you are wasting time and doing things in your free time OTHER than working your business. You are losing out when you are not FOCUSED on your goals for building a successful business. Remember, "when you are not focused, you fail".

See you at the top!

Side Hustle

I know, I know. Sounds like something illegal, but I'm not talking about anything like that. Whether you have a 9 to 5 job, own a business, or are a domestic diva, I believe everyone should have a source of additional income or as I like to say -side hustle-. Below, I have listed a few -side hustle- ideas that have made people a good amount of extra income. Hope you find something you like:

Affiliate Marketing

This is probably one of the best ways to make extra money online. Affiliate Marketing allows you to sell certain products from your website on commission usually via advertisement or referral. It's an excellent way to make extra money, even in your sleep! Some great affiliate programs are right in from of you, you just have to look. Here are some of my suggestions:

BBWO: Black Business Women Online

TheCEOMamma Marketing Blog

Magnetic Sponsoring

HostGator

Vistaprint.com

Read Emails

Now, you won't make thousands of dollars doing this, but it is a good option to make an extra few hundred dollars a month. Here is a company you can sign up with:

Read emails

Social Networks

Yes! You can get paid to socialize with people. I know we have facebook, twitter, and myspace but these social networks actually pay you for visiting the site, getting friends, and even clicking on advertisements. Of course you want to choose the best one. From my research here are two that I thought were the best:

Crazygood.com

Swom.com

These are all great ways to create additional income for yourself. If you need help deciding which one would be the best, or need more information, contact me. BUT you should do something. If you would like to work with me and my team as your -side hustle- contact us today! garrisonprosperitysolutions@gmail.com .

If you already have a -side hustle-, please comment to this post and share it with us! You never know who could be interested.

How Health Brings Wealth

Have you ever thought of this concept? That maybe by having a healthy lifestyle you can actually make a substantial living? You could experience freedom and create your own retirement plan? You could be at home with your kids more and make decisions on whether you want to work or not? If you said "yes" to anything above, then there is a way to help you.

I have discovered a company that has not only laid the foundation for an opportunity

that would span the spectrum of wellness but actually has a great line of products. These products contain antioxident properties good for streghthening the immune system, supporting cartilage and joint funtion, promoting a healthy respitory system, and make you look good too!

But it’s not just this product that can benefit your health and life but it can also benefit your income. Offering a lucrative compensation plan, this company is second to none in helping others build a successful business. Whether it is part time or full time. The bottom line is your not selling a product; you’re building an empire.

I work with a team of dynamic individuals who have the passion, proof, and resources to build a team of successful business owners. All you have to do is, get started. Stop questioning yourself and procrastinating. Research shows that the main reason why most people do not start a business(or do things to better themselves) is due to fear of failure. Well , let me tell you now, there are going to be times in your life when you fail. It's inevitable, because we're human. The difference between you and others that fail SHOULD be that you get back up and try again. That’s evidence of a true and successful “go-getter”. If you don't believe me, read the biographies of "go getters" like Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Robert Kiyosaki, and Carlos Slim Helu. So, if you’re ready to change your life-story then let us help you!

You’ve joined a network marketing company….Now What? Wait for the sales and recruits to start piling up, right? WRONG!! It is not going to happen. Your upline is seeing great success, some of your team members are seeing great success, why aren’t you? The non-sugar coated answer would be that it is ALL YOUR FAULT!! Plain and simple. I know that you may be telling yourself that you are doing all that you can to succeed in your business, but are you really? Are you really taking all of the necessary steps to get where you want to be or are you only half-stepping and expecting to reap the full benefits? First of all let me tell you this….. Never base your expectations on anyone else within your organization. You will be disappointed every time. You cannot compare yourself to others especially those that you see doing extremely well in your industry. You should look to them for inspiration and encouragement and not as competition or comparison. As a new network marketer it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to gain as much knowledge about your company, its products and services as you possibly can. How can you sell something that you know nothing about? How can you develop a passion for something that you yourself don’t understand? You can’t!! You should be a regular consumer of your products. Then and only then will you understand them, relate to them and be able to help others understand and relate to them. This is when your personal organization (your downline) will begin to take lasting shape.Sure, for some it can be easy to initially explode in the business without any real knowledge, but soon the flame will fizzle. I see it often in this industry, you have those that do absolutely amazing. Above and beyond what any others are doing in the company and then before you know it, they are back to square one. Don’t be one of those people. Build your foundation on solid ground from the beginning. If you have joined a company that you really believe in, why wouldn’t you give your all? Didn’t you join the company for specific reasons to begin with? More time, financial freedom, funding your retirement, etc. Whatever the case may be, remember that none of that is going to happen without your full undivided attention to your goals and expectations.Everyone is different. Find YOUR niche. Don’t depend on others to work your business and hold your hand the entire way. Sure your upline should always be available to help you, but that is not always a reality. More often than not, we are left to figure it out on our own. Use the resources and tools available to you. The internet is an excellent source for information about absolutely anything. Take full advantage of it. Your company website should also have tools, resources, tutorials, etc. to help you.Ask yourself a few questions like….. Have you established a clear goal? Have you set goals that are within your reach? What is it that you’re comfortable with? How can you more effectively work your business for maximum results? What knowledge do you need? Whose help do you need? What system should be in place? These are just a few questions that should be addressed. Don’t leave your success to chance. Be active and watch your dreams begin to take flight.

Contractual Agreement

So, lately I've been talking to my friends who either own businesses that offer services or are thinking about it. And one of their biggest concerns is creating and having a contract. They've been asking questions like, "Why would I need one?" and "What would it say?" etc etc. So, I figured I would address this issue in this week's posting.

Who needs a contract?:

First, let's discuss what type of small businesses would need a contract. Any business that is providing services as an independent contractor like an event or wedding planner, buying or selling goods without an established distributor, distributing equipment, or selling or leasing real estate. You also need a contract if you have partners, employees or even selling your business. Having a contract would first guarantee your services to your customer and THEN ensure that they pay you! Also, with business partners, things can somtimes get sticky so you want to make sure everything is divided properly, to avoid nasty break ups :).

What exacly is a contract?:

Now, what IS a contract, you ask? Well, The World English Dictionary defines a contract as the following: "to enter into an agreement with (a person, company, etc) to deliver (goods or services) or to do (something) on mutually agreed and binding terms, often in writing." In order for a contract to be valid, both parties need to sign and agree on terms listed in the contract.

What type of contracts are there?

There are two different types of contracts. First, there is an Oral Contract which is when people speak on the terms and conditions of the business transaction. Contrary to popular belief, these are legally binding contracts. The only thing is it is harder to prove who said what in a court of law.

The second type of contract is the Written Contract. This is the most common type of contract and obviously easier to prove in the court of law. Usually a contract is written to determine the job that needs to be done and what is going to happen after that job is done. If the people who are involved with the contract, do not keep up their part of the bargain, they can be sued.

What should it say?

Well, there are several contract-writing softwares out there that can help you with the actual wording of the contract but I will give you a general idea. Remember, you want to be very specific about what is said in the contract. Unless you are a lawyer, you don't have to use legal terminology you just have to be clear on the expectations of both parties.

You want to make sure you have the following features in your contract:

~Date of contractual agreement and expiration of contract

~Name of everyone involved- i.e. customer, owner

~The services taking place for the contract- i.e. Company agrees to decorate Customer's house by 5/6/12.

~The payment amounts and DUE DATES- i.e. Initial Deposit, Amount Due after decorating is done

~Any interest that would take place if the payment is not made on due date

~Expiration dates for the contract

~Terms and conditions if contract is broken- i.e. If either party does not adhere to terms on contract legal action will take place

~Terms and conditions for someone to cancel or break contract before due date- i.e. If Customer breaks contract before job is done, the deposit is non-refundable. If Buyer breaks contract before job is done, the Customer will receive their deposit via mail.

~Signature of both parties

If you include all this in your contract, you should be fine! All grounds should be covered. Make sure you go through every aspect of the contract with your customer, answer and ASK all questions. Do not assume that they understand all the terms of the contract. Make sure you also review your state's laws on contractual agreements. They might have certain things that must be stated in the contract.

Lastly, at the end of the day, if you're still unsure about the validity of your contract or NEED that legal terminology included, then consult a lawyer. They will be able to help you ...for a small fee.

What is the difference between a franchise and network marketing business model? I meet a lot of people who are not sure of the differences, but if you plan on becoming a business owner you should be knowledgeable of different business models.

Franchise

A franchise is the right or license granted by a company to an individual or group to market it's products or services in a specific territory (dictionary.com) In other words, you (franchisee) would be a third party owner of an already established company (franchiser). You would be given access to the trademarked goods, advertising and marketing methods, and services of a company. You would be given certain territories and continuous training to maintain the franchise. Some franchises need actual buildings or locations and products like a Starbucks or Subway. Others might just provide the material to get started like an interior design franchise that would give you all of your swatches. In exchange for these perks, you would pay a percentage of your gross income and fees to the company. The start up fees of a franchise can range from $8,000 to millions of dollars.

The advantages of owning a franchise is that the company will provide you with all the materials you need to get started. Including logo use, uniforms, and interior furniture and design. You also have support from the company to make your business successful.

The disadvantages of owning a franchise are that you have to be in a location or territory chosen by the franchiser. Therefore, you will work long hours concentrating on the success of your business. If you don't work, you do not make money. But for those who are passionate, it is worth it. You also have restrictions on how your business is operated and have to take inventory on all of the products brought into the store. There is training available, but you have to adhere closely to the policies. Another disadvantage is that you have to pay the franchiser a percentage of the stores sales. You do not get to keep all of the money you make.

Network Marketing

Also known as Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) is a business model in which an independent contractor is compensated for their personal sales and the sales of others they ask to join their team, creating a residual income (residual means continuous). A legit network marketing business is established to help advertise or MARKET a product. Instead of spending millions of dollars on advertising for television, radio, or through ads, a company offers the product to independent distributors or contractors that do the advertising for them. Therefore the millions of dollars that would have gone into the advertising would go directly to the sales force. As an independent contractor, you also get paid for building teams of people that are doing the same thing you are. Because you are marketing a product you usually have to purchase product monthly to have it on hand for your use and as samples. Start-up fees are very minimal ranging from free to $500.

The advantages of a network marketing business are that anyone can do it. Because the start-up fees are so minimal, anyone can learn to operate the business. You also receive everything you need to start including training. The training can help develop business knowledge and for some build self-confidence. As an independent contractor the only money or fees you are paying to the company is the product you order monthly. Otherwise you get to keep all of your earning income. Another advantage is that you do not have to have a location or territory. You can run your business from anywhere. You also have total control of your working hours. Most people start out running their business part-time, but once they see the fruits-of-their-labor, decide to go full time.

One disadvantage of owning a network marketing business is the turn-around time on seeing an income. Robert Kyosaki said "The reason most people do not reach the top is simply because they quit too soon". A lot of people assume they can start making money overnight but do not realize it takes time to build an empire. Another disadvantage of network marketing is the negative perception that the business model is a "pyramid scheme". A "pyramid scheme" is when someone invests in a company and sees no results: No product, no income, no training, and no owner. If you have found interest in a company that does not have easy access to the creators or has no clear policy on how you build a business or a cancellation policy but want you to pay, then yes, it's a pyramid scheme. All the money is going to someone at the top (hence the "pyramid"), and they are laughing all the way to the bank. A legit network marketing business would have all of these things and more accessible to anyone interested in hearing about their products.

So as you can see there are pros and cons to both business models, you just need to decide which one is best for you. I decided network marketing was the best option for me. My team prides themselves on helping people and educating them on how health can build wealth. What type of business model is best for you? It's never to late to find one. We can help you find the one that's best for you. Contact us today!

10744063291?profile=originalI am so excited to announce the launch of Caribbean Women Who Lunch, Inc. (www.mycwwl.com). This is an organization with a mission to provide global networking and learning opportunities aimed at helping to grow the careers of women of Caribbean descent.

Women are notorious for not engaging their networks in the same way that men are able to do, so my dream for CWWL is to provide a forum for professional women of Caribbean descent that will facilitate access to global networks online, while also encouraging members to tap into their local networks through power lunches. This way you can build some truly meaningful relationships that help to move you forward professionally. The CWWL website is a social networking site that allows you to invite your own networks and also tap into the networks of other members, all of whom have some connection to the Caribbean, so you are already starting off with something in common.

This idea came to me a couple of years ago when I decided to launch my coaching practice. I wanted to start a group of women who would be able to offer advice and support to each other as we progressed in our careers. I also thought about how migrating to New York when I was 26 had impacted the networks I had back home in Jamaica. Essentially I had to start over upon moving to the U.S. so I thought why not create a network that women can access from anywhere in the world?

In order to help the membership grow quickly so it offers immediate benefit to the membership, the first 500 members will get the first year of membership for free. Just click on this link www.mycwwl.com, and with a few clicks you’ll be on and ready to invite your own networks by connecting to your email account(s).

Let’s network, learn and succeed!

Book of Lists 2011

Have you heard of the Book of Lists and know the importance of the book as a networking tool? “In over 60 US markets, the Book of Lists is an essential tool for gaining a competitive edge. Its information on leading buyers, companies and employers is indispensable.”

I would not have known about the Book of Lists if I hadn’t been a subscriber of the Triangle Business Journal. Your city is bound to have a Business Journal to subscribe to in or around your area, so find out how to get your hands on a copy.

By recently attending FREE seminars, Business Expos and family oriented community events, I have gotten a hold of a lot of business-minded professionals, not the time wasters who claim they want to help you but want you to join every networking company they are associated with.

The Book of Lists has showed me where to find hardworking professionals. Open the book and see what downtown restaurant ranked #1 in your area. Want to know how the private, semi-private and public golf courses ranked in your area? How about finding about those Fast 50 Award Winning Businesses?

Looking for the ranking of these business categories and others will give you the step above everyone else with your prospecting. Most business-minded professionals are on the move but always looking to increase their net worth. Now YOU know where to find them!

The Book of Lists 2011 for the Triangle area has nine categories. I plan on networking with several people from the different categories to grow my networking companies I’m associated with. As a matter of fact I connected with three people in one category just this past Friday!

So make sure you subscribe your area’s Business Journal and make sure you get your hands on a copy of the Book of Lists 2011 for your area. You will have thousands of prospects in your hands. It is up to you how you utilize this tool.

This is my insight for you. For pricing and market information for the Book of Lists and to find the Business Journal that best suits your marketing needs go to http://www.bizjournals.com/bookoflists

How Not To Put Your Foot In Your Mouth

Conversation Etiquette 101

In today’s competitive business world it takes more than expensive clothes and a pleasant personality to be successful; it is also how you present yourself.

Make a wrong remark during a conversation and you could ruin your business and social position within certain social circles.

Ever wonder why you were not invited to an event?

Your conversation etiquette in meeting and social setting, especially those that include important business partners or high profile personalities, could determine if you are invited back or banned from future events.

8 Topics That Will Kill a Conversation: What not to say during a conversation.

One of the best rules in conversation is, never to say a thing which any of the company can reasonably wish had been left unsaid.” Jonathan Swift

 1. Politics-Talking about politics is always a touch subject. Some people are very passionate about their political views. If you don’t agree with something that has been said, just acknowledge what has been shared by nodding .
 2. Health-People really do not what to hear about your latest surgery. Sharing too much bad news can bring the conversation down.
 3. The cost of things-Ever been around someone and all the talked about was how much they paid for their car, house. Don’t ask and don’t tell.
 4. Personal question-Don’t ask questions such as “How much money do you make?” Or “When do you plan to have children.”
 5. Don’t gossip-When you gossip you destroy your creditability and trust with the group.
 6. Your boss/or job-You never know who knows whom.
 7. Off-color jokes-I tried to justify this by saying, “If you are with close friends and you all share the same views; however, I cannot. It is never acceptable to joke about another’s weight, religion, racial heritage, physical limitations, or make any remark that will hurt another person.
 8. Doom and gloom-People hear enough bad news, all one has to do is turn on the TV. If you want to draw people to you, be happy and optimistic.

So, what can you do to avoid putting your foot in your mouth?

Learn the art of small talk.

Definition of small talk: n. polite conversation about matter of little Importance, especially between people who do not know each other well. Encarta World Dictionary.

Small talk is not profound or deep conversation. Small talk is casual conversation.
Practice these tips to improve your small talk ability:

 • Be well informed-Read the news paper, Keep up with current events, locally, nationally, and internationally. Watch interesting documentaries on TV.
 • Don’t interrupt-Interrupting a person’s conversation is very rude. People could see you as being argumentative.
 • Focus on the other person-Use the others persons name during the convection. Pay attention to what they say, the other person will say something you can comment on. They may share their love for a certain sport, or a movie or book they’ve read.
 • Maintain eye contact-Eye contact shows you are interested in what the other person is saying.
 • Ask for their advice-Keep the topic light. You may ask their advice or opinion on a new restaurant, or play.
 • Don’t give advice-Give advice only if the other person asks. It is best to hold off giving advice on personal matters, even if asked.
 • Think before you speak-There have been more times than I care to admit, when I should have not said one word.
 • Always apologize if you say the wrong thing, or even is what you have said is misinterpreted. People will respect you more.

Grace and Charm Insight: Always close a conversation before walking away form the other person. You can say, “It was a pleasure speaking with you, and I hope we meet again.”

Regularly, I travel to several rural counties in southern Alabama providing business counseling and training to local business owners. In discussing the importance of incorporating social media into their marketing plan, some clients are not sure if it is relevant for their businesses. In fact, a few give me that ‘deer in the headlights’ look when I introduce Twitter as a viable way to increase their client base. By educating them, I help them understand the benefits.

As I explain, Twitter is used by millions of people each day who share, connect, promote and brand their business image. If you, like them are still not convinced, here are 3 reasons why Twitter is important for your business.

Connect
Imagine having a captive audience waiting for your information every minute of the day. By positioning yourself as an industry expert, you can grow a small community of followers who will have a direct connection to you and who recognize your name and business brand! You can also barter, search for independent contractors or find employees. Twitter provides a great platform to connect with the right people to fit your business needs.

In addition, this is great way for existing customers to provide feedback.

By connecting with similar companies will enable the sharing of idea, best practices and opportunity to gain insight on improving your business.

Market
Most small businesses have a very small marketing budget which results in continuously looking for low cost and innovative ways to leverage their products or services. Twitter is a free social network that can be a rewarding marketing tool for your business. A few examples:
 • Your message will appear across the Twitter board over and over by your followers who will retweet your message to their followers. Can we say ‘viral?’
 • Stay abreast of industry trends to market effectively to potential customers.
 • Publish your Twitter handle on all email newsletters, direct mailings, on your Web site and all other marketing channels.
 • Promote your latest blog posts and newsletters
Still having doubts? Well, let’s say you manage an online specialty athletic shop. You can:
Sales
Increasing your sales and profit margins are imperative for success and a matter of survival. By using twitter to announce upcoming sales or events, you will drive potential customers to your website or physical location. For example, I assisted a client who owns a Mexican Restaurant, with setting up her Twitter and Face book Fan page. Every day, she posts daily lunch specials. Last year, she reported a 9% increase in sales from travelers who used social media to find a local restaurant.

The point is, with little effort and signing up for Twitter’s free social network, you can drive prospects to you by sharing relevant information about your business.

Handy Tools to Manage Your Social Media
Every day, 365 days per year at 6:00 am Central Standard Time, my followers from Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Blog and Community, receive a daily inspirational quote. Do you really think that I get up every morning, log on to my computer and tweet? Absolutely not! Though I get a chuckle from people that think otherwise! To help manage my various social networks, I use a tool called Hootsuite, which enable me to schedule each message into the future to one or all of my social networks. That’s reaching thousands of my followers in a single message!

As Twitter surges toward an estimated 190 million visitors each month who generate over 65 million tweets per day, there are many tools available to help you manage your time and productivity. Here are a few of my favorites:

So I went to an event this weekend, and had a blessed time! It was so good that afterwards, I was ready to purchase some merchandise. Fortunately, I was first in line. Unfortunately, I didn't have small bills and they didn't take check. BUT they did take debit card. So I gave them my card to run, and it took FOREVER! They were using an Apple computer, but whatever program it was, it was not working fast enough. The line of 1 person grew to 6 in a matter of minutes. I even ended up having to enter my information myself! With all that said, all I could think about was if that was a different Apple product, the iPad, they wouldn't have this problem. And it's so true. The iPad has so many benefits for an entrepeneur. Whether you need to take credit cards, keep customer information, or communicate with employess in other states or countries (with the new iPad2), the iPad is for you. Today I'm just going to share brief information about the apps, accessories and secrets about the iPad I enjoy. One of the great things about the iPad is that you can download applications or apps to it, and make it do pretty much anything you want :0. There is an excellent app for people that take credit cards called Square. Square allows business owners to accept credit cards and it's FREE. All you have to do is download the app and then sign up for an account and BOOM. 3 days later, they send you a small card reader that connects to your iPad! It's wonderful. And definitely would've benefitted the merchants at the event :)Another app that's great for keeping up with customer information Bento. Not only can does it store customer information like phone numbers and order history, but it keeps you organized as well. You can manage your personal contacts and keep a schedule, you can also create "To-do" lists. It's a great application to keep you on track.Oh don't worry, if you're a writer or trying to pitch some ideas for some dinero, or need flyers for you there's an app for you too. Pages allows you to create sales presentations and flyers for any and all of your business needs. And alongside Pages you need Keynote which helps create powerpoint presentations. Both apps go hand-in-hand. Although there's a minimal fee for each, it's definitely worth it.One accessory you might enjoy are the bluetooth keyboard, which comes in handy for those big projects that have a lot of typing. Also a cool accessory is the camera connection kit which allows you to upload pictures from your camera onto your iPad. One thing I have discovered about the iPad and love is that if you click the "home" button twice, you can see all of the windows you're working with and go back and forth. Another cool feature is that you can create a passcode to get into your iPad. Makes it kind of personal so only you can get in it!Now, to find out about all the other cool features the iPad offers, you have to get one! The new iPad2 has just come out and the prices range from $499-$829. So consider the iPad for all your business needs. It is definitely worth it's purchase.www.garrisonprosperitysolutions.com
