Live a life of Self-care

What is a Self Caring Lifestyle?Self Care is exactly what it sounds like. It is the caring for self. It's not being selfish. It's being aware of the fact that you can't give what you don't have. If you have no sense of self and how to love on self than how do you expect to give it to others. I had to learn this. I put all my time and effort into my children and my family that I took no time to just work on me. This made me stressed out, irritable and just not the joyful person that God wants and expects me to be. It carries over into every aspect of your life. It's a journey not to go back, but well worth it. When you are being your best then you can give your best. You're a better mother, a better mate, friend, sister; you are just a better person.Self care is about more than tending to the physical, which can be getting your hair or nails done. It's about more than grooming. Self care emcompases the Mind, Body, and Spirit. When you choose to take part in activities that nurture, renew and fortify all three of these elements of self, than you are not only practicing but living a Self Caring Lifestyle. Self Care takes care of the inside as well as the outside, it's a lifestyle not a hobby. We'll take a further look at what needs to be present and the steps we can take to begin our journey to a Self Care Lifestyle.Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV)Imagine Life...Be Empowered...Live on Purpose!DaphneYour Self-care Sistah / Lifestyle Entrepreneurwww.eshe.weebly.comwww.eshe.soulpurpose.netwww.divawithsoul.blogspot.com

Me Time!

Sometimes I just don't feel cute. I'm feeling a little overweight, my hair may not be doing what I want it to do. I just have a case of the blahs! Do you ever feel that way? As women and as mothers, we just have those days sometimes. We're taking care of the kids, the husband, the house, the business, everything but oops! we foregot to take care of self. Forgetting to take that "Me Time" could lead to more stress, which could lead to irritability, insomnia, weight gain and a host of other medical problems. But there is hope. We can de-stress by beginning to lead and live a Self-Caring Lifestyle. We can and need to exercise daily, eat healthier (eat those fruits and vegetables that momma always told us to eat), pray, meditate, get our rest and learn how to relax. Learning how to take care of ourselves will ultimately lead to having more energy and vitality, we'll be calmer and have more peace, we'll listen better which will lead to better relationships, overall we'll live a healtier, balanced life.To implement some "Me Time" here are some suggestions:Daily affirmations. Every day look in the mirror, look yourself in the eyes and state your affirmations. (This may feel weird, but it will help)Write daily in your journal about all experiences in your life. Start a gratitude journal and write about all the things you are grateful for.Listen to your favorite music, dance like nobody's watchingRead, draw, sing, whatever you love to do, do it!Be still. Take time to just sit in silence and allow Spirit to speak to you.Take a Spa Break. Take a warm bath using your favorite natural products, light a natural soy candle in your favorite scent. Put on your favorite natural perfume scent on all those special spots, put on some soothing music and relax.Love yourself and just Be!Imaging Life.....Daphne, Your DIVA with a Soulful Purpose!www.eshe.weebly.comwww.eshe.soulpurpose.net

Embracing Change.

We are on the brink of change; it is taking place all around us. Day by day, moment by moment change is occurring, whether we like it or not. Change is viewed in many ways outwardly but I believe that true change begins within before we ever see the visible signs of an outward manifestation. Two such changes are in fact directly upon us; the first was accomplished years prior to this writing, though the annual recognition is tomorrow and the second has been a long time coming.Tomorrow we acknowledge the birth of, the late, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. which is now recognized nationally as a holiday. Dr. King believed in change. He lived and died trying to bring forth change, records of such efforts as the freedom march and speeches including the famous “I Have a Dream” speech made on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963 were recorded and are still remembered today. On this Tuesday, the 20th of January 2009, the nation will watch as President-Elect Barack Obama makes history by taking the oath to become the 44th President of the United States of America; the 1st African American to ascend to such an honorable position. President Obama embodies the heart of Dr. King’s “Dream” which he shared with the world. A dream of a people united, experiencing equality for all and having the liberty to pursue purposes and fulfill destinies. The beliefs of both these men are the “truth” of a “changed” way.I am embracing, experiencing and expecting such change in 2009; but, I’m not just writing of the obvious change that is before us. I am looking to give and to receive, to bless and be blessed. I expect 2009 to be the year where all barriers fall down and all obstacles are removed; no more handicaps as they’ve been completely erased from sight. I’m stepping forth into my predestined place, rising to fill the space I was created for.Fulfillment of purpose and destiny is necessary in every individual’s life. That’s what we are here for; it is the plan of God. Living life expecting the best, giving the best and being one’s best is true and complete fulfillment. I embrace this day, looking forward to tomorrow and accepting all changes that shall come my way. We (mankind) do not have all the answers and because that is “truth”, we must look to God, who knows all, to discover our paths.Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. followed his dreams and lived his personal truth. President-Elect Obama is fulfilling destiny by living his purpose and accepting his “truth”. Each day I live I come closer to the fulfillment of my destiny, having already discovered my purpose; I am walking in “my truth”.These journeys of realization and fulfillment of destiny are not meant to be taken alone, so I invite you along in a united effort in search for “truth”. It involves living life on purpose, in purpose, with the sole intention of fulfillment. As we discover destiny, our reason for living is revealed and we will experience cohesiveness. We become a people connected, unified in the truth, walking in love and peace. We stand proudly, hand over heart and vow, “One nation under God - indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”; and now it’s time for us as a country to live what we say we believe. Let us embrace this change and live our best lives in unity as a body of believers united; one nation, one body, one spirit.God Bless You,~Lady DP DeclouetWomen of Destiny, LLCPurpose-Minded to Promise. HOW DO YOU LIVE YOUR DASH?

One of my favorite poems is called "The Dash" by Linda Ellis. Written shortly after her grandmother’s death, it’s an eloquent invocation to live one’s life thoughtfully...So, what on earth is a dash and why should it count? We are born and then we die. But what really matters is what happens in between. By making a conscious choice to live our lives with passion and purpose, we can leave our mark on the world by leaving it in a better place than we found it.

THE DASHby Linda EllisI read of a man who stood to speakAt the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstoneFrom the beginning…to the end.He noted that first came her date of birthAnd spoke the following date with tears,But he said what mattered most of allWas the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the timeThat she spent alive on earth…And now only those who loved herKnow what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own;The cars…the house…the cash,What matters is how we live and loveAnd how we spend our dash.So think about this long and hard…Are there things you’d like to change? For you never know how much time is left,That can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enoughTo consider what’s true and real,And always try to understandThe way other people feel. And be less quick to anger,And show appreciation moreAnd love the people in our livesLike we’ve never loved before. If we treat each other with respect,And more often wear a smile…Remembering that this special dashMight only last a little while. So, when your eulogy’s being readWith your life’s actions to rehash…Would you be proud of the things they sayAbout how you spent your dash?(Article submitted by Michelle James: 1961 dash ....)

Wed, 9 Mar 2005 09:10:49 -0800 (PST)Subject: Daily Meditation/Words from FaithMarch 9If we stand tall it is because we stand on the backs of those who came before us.-Yoruba proverbAs painful as it may be to accept, our ancestors were required to die as part of the evolution of the race. They died in order that our genius could be spread throughout the world. They died so that their energy would be shifted into the invisible, untouchable force that sustains life today. They died in order that we could stand in a new place, do new things and create new order. We must stand tall knowing the power, strength and wisdom of the ancestors is as close as a breath. All that we ever need to be, to do, to know, to have is available. All we need to do is take a stand.-IyanlaI Am standing on a solid foundation.-IyanlaMe-Faith. That is the word of the day. My favorite thing to say is "I walk by faith and not by sight." (II Corinthians 5:7) I say that because I have been through so much until everything that's happening now in my life would have never been possible if I did not stop and check myself. It's down right unbelievable to me. I can't believe the blessings that are coming my way.People say once you are able to slay that giant within, you are on your way to success. It is true. There was a time when I was in school and I didn't see myself graduating. I sat out of school for a year. During that year I had to do some self-evaluating. In 2003, I couldn't see 2005. But that didn't matter because I knew that my life didn't consist of pain, suffering, and struggling. If I didn't see past 2003, I would still be in that same state of mind and in that same place I was two years prior.Change starts with YOU. A lot people couldn't understand how happy I was when I kept going on and on and on about graduating, but I knew. I knew that I had been through somethings people will never go through if they don't get caught up in everything else, but what's important. After graduating, I knew if I could graduate, anything I wanted I could get. So I was tested. I was supposed to have a job right out of school, but anything that comes easy isn't really worth having. A lot of people kept telling me you may as well just stay in Charleston, work for about three months, save some money, and then move to Atlanta. In my head, I'm like I am NOT living in Charleston, and something is going to come through. No matter what people said I tried anyway. They even said no one knows you in Atlanta, you know this world is about who you know, you know the college kids in Atlanta that attend Morehouse, Spelmen, Clark, and all the other schools in Atlanta have first pick on jobs because they are in the city and most of them have done interns with the Fortune 500 companies. I didn't care because my school prepared me for the business world too. And I knew if I worried about what I saw, then I wouldn't have a job in Atlanta today.I knocked on everybody's door! I applied everywhere! But only stuck within my concentration. It didn't matter that I wasn't qualified enough, or a candidate got the job I wanted, or I had the job and at the last minute I find out that, someone with more experience got the job. All of those things didn't matter because I walk by faith and not sight. If anyone grasp this saying you can have anything you want. This is why I understand my Purpose, and I will fuilfill it. I don't care what people say or think. I know what I have to do and how to get where I want to go. It took me 2 months to get a job. Some collegues who graduated in May 2004 that live in Atlanta, are still crying about it is so hard to get a job. I am like how could you say that, it's about applying yourself and not settling or giving up on what you want. Some jobs wanted to offer me $10 an hour. If I accepted that it wouldn't have made any sense for me to go to school. I never lowered my standards! Because I was prepared, persistent, and focused on what I wanted, I got it. I start my new job with benefits on 03/21/05......Living in the place where I can definitely grow and connect in the industry. And emotionally connect, through words, to women all over the world. That's my Purpose and talent. I will fulfill my dreams, no I mean my Purpose.Ya'll better jump on the boat and know that through Faith, ALL things are possible. I am a living witness. As long as I stay focesed on what is important, I am going to have the neccessssities. And I am writing to tell you all that if it happened for me it can happen for you. Faith is an act. Faith is believing even though don't see it. Faith is how strong you are mentally. And the stronger your faith, the more prosperous and friutful you will be...If you don't grasp this then you'll continue in the same cycle until you do.......TawanaP.S. Know that "Your future is as bright as the promises of God."

You know ladies, I was just thinking how we take care of everyone in the world first before ourselves. Our careers, our families, our extended families, our friends. What do we do for us?I have recently started a monthly program among my friends by having them host a "Just for me" day. During this time we have girl talk, we pamper ourself and it's funny. I find that most of us do not take time out to enjoy pampering ourselves. We haven't taken time to smell the roses. We don't have a clue on the next best thing that is healthy for us. Don't even talk about what our plan B is. Most of us don't even have plan A.What about the men? Most of us have just plain old settled. Settled for men that not only don't suit us the Queens we are, but we take so much mess off of them.I also learned that there are so many women that are in just plain unhealthy relationship. We I don't know if I am on a track here with starting girl power up again. But I have a mission to get all my sister involved in spending some quality time for just you.If you are in my area and like to get together for some REAL Pampering Girls Time. Look me up. Meanwhile enjoy my complimentary virtual spa online. www.virtualspa.moonfruit.comWhat our "Just For Me' Day involves:Organic hand treatment with silk most of the ladies say, "they can't stop touching themselves" after using it. We follow this with a shea body balm treatment.Moving on to the relaxation: The ladies soak in my therapeudic 100% detoxifying Dead Sea Salt soak. While soaking they enjoy some spa music, wine and a relaxing eye pillow treatment. They don't want to walk up. There is no screaming children around calling your name.
