Women's empowerment: Reader's Q & A .... Limiting beliefs and my true self

Q: What is your most pressing question where it concerns your

personal, spiritual and business empowerment?

A: Transitioning from my old self, with those limiting beliefs, to who I truly am.

The first place you want to begin is what I call awareness. In this step
you need to take inventory of your limiting beliefs. You can identify them
without placing them in categories and after you've identified some of them
you can then categorize them in the money, education, career, faith and
other category. Don't get too caught up on this simply jot down what comes
to mind.

Why do you have those limiting beliefs?

What steps can you add that will assist you in overcoming your limiting
beliefs?

Another key factor is your mindset. I won't go deep into this, however,
a lot of our success is sabotaged by our mindset and you would do good
to discover what your mindset is and make the necessary shifts.

You can do this on your own or enlist the help of a coach such as myself
who are equipped with various tools and experience to support you in
this endeavor.

In order to know where you're going you must know where you are.
This is also true where it concerns evolving to who you truly are.
Make sure you are clear on who you are. What are your core values?
What is your purpose? Vision?

All of the above will support your endeavor towards transitioning from
your old self to who you truly are.

What separates an Entrepreneurial leader from a follower?

Thereare many characteristics, however, entrepreneurial leaders do not havea mindset that adapts to failure. Things go wrong, of course, butentrepreneurs don’t call them “failures” they call them “glitches,mistakes, bungles, setbacks” – but not failing.

I've often heard it stated that you only fail when you quit or you only fail when you fall and neglect to get up.

An empowered entrepreneurial woman will approach decision-making withthe idea that there’s a strong likelihood that she will be wrong. Thisdoesn’t dissuade them – on the contrary they just do the best they canand worry about handling obstacles as they arise.

Another way oflooking at it is to realize that you will make mistakes, so make themas quickly as you can in order to learn from them. A good leaderdoesn’t view making mistakes as negative or irrevocable, he/she feelsfree to press on and try something new. There is the belief thatsomething useful has been learned, and hopefully not at a high cost.

Since we're going to make mistakes in this life why not make use of them as learning tools and don’t make the same ones twice.

Entrepreneursalso know the value of “intuition”. While you shouldn’t act on theresults of tossing a coin, there is something to be said about your“gut” feeling about the situation. Very often business people become soinvolved with systems and checks-and-balances that they forget aboutthat “gut” instinct they had when they started.

While notstrictly logical, intuition does draw on a combination of experience,knowledge, and analysis as well as a lot of “gut” information you mayhave forgotten that you have.

How do you become a strong leader?One way you become a strong leader in your business is by “practicing”being a leader. It’s not a course you can take at a business college;it’s learned in the school of life as you’re doing business.

Asa leader, you have to set standards and higher standards for your ownbehavior. You must do this because appearances are sometimes moreimportant that facts.

You must also set a commanding presence.
Do you maintain the appearance of leadership? Do you project a confident appearance of a successful entrepreneur?

Presentingyourself as a confident entrepreneur, filled with the excitement ofyour business idea, and a strong leader of your team (whether it’s 1 or10 employees) is what will make you a winner and add untold weight toyour Business Plan. After all, you are your business to that idealclient/customer so you’d better look good and confident.

To protect that faith that your people and your customers have in your organization, always ask yourself these two questions:

Could this be interpreted by anyone in a way that would shake their faith in my leadership?
Could this be misinterpreted and held against me or the company?

Onequality that every empowered entrepreneurial woman must possess is theability to bounce back. Strong leaders know that leadership is alifelong learning experience,and
that they are students of life and when they make a mistake they simply continue to move forward.

What is it? Passion. I don’t know how many women I’ve had a chance to
talk to, counsel, coach and mentor who often tell me I don’t have a
passion or they might say I have many things that I like but no passion
for any of them. And then some just simple ask how can I discover my
passion.

Finding your passion yields turbo-charged success.

I’veoften told women that knowing your passion will fuel your motivation
and give you incredible energy. It also pushes you through crisis and
allows you to focus in the midst of crisis or any other time of your
life as mentioned in my special report “How to stay focused in crisis.!”

Knowing your passion and living your passion will attract your ideal clients to you.

life and that includes not settling for anything less than anabundant life. Once you discover or rediscover and commit, it's up to you to take inventory of the resources
around you that will enable to follow your passion.

Many times we focus on the external when talking about ourbusiness/career when in essence the problem may lie internally.The first place I like to begin in a situation such as this is self discoveryor with a self assessment. Before we get clear we must know more about ourselves.Get clear on things such asWhat matters most to you?What are your limiting beliefs?What are your core values?This will also help in the endeavor to discover or rediscover your passion.And then there's focus. Finding Your Passion

What does it take to find your passion. Four years ago I got serious about this, I walked away from the co-operate world to find my passion and make a living doing that. I have have had speed bumps, I have had detours, I have had disappointments, I have had failure, I have wanted to give up on pursuing my Dream.People have laughed at me, asked me what in the world was I doing why did I leave the comfort and stability of a paycheck? All of this was needed for me to reach where I am today. If I did not go through this I would not have found my Passion.Everyone wants to do what they love to do, there is no doubt about that, but how many are willing to go through all the the ups and down to get there. well if you want to be fulfilled in life you will take the risk. Risk it all to get to a place that you can truly look back and say it was all worth it. "CAUTION !! NOT EVERYONE HAS TO QUIT THEIR JOB" Calculate your risk! Be smart about it.Being true to yourself and following your Dream takes work. You have to be willing to work on yourself. Relationships in life are the tools that are used to help you navigate your life and find the true meaning of life. Look around you, which relationships are causing you pain? When you take the time to review those relationships and take inventory of what is really going on inside of you, you will find that this is your moment to face life's obstacle so that you can reach your destiny. Once you take the time and work on the most painful relationships, you will come out a winner, whether you have to let go of that relationship and move on, or make it more healthy is all the work you need for personal growth.Now you are ready to move into personal development. You will find that you are becoming more energized to start working on the things that you have always wanted to do. There is no more hindrance, you have worked on the most difficult tracks of life. You are now ready to go and rise up to your full potential. You can face anything, nothing will move you as long as you keep your head up!Start with thinking about what comes naturally to you, what do people say, you are so good at? I love to write, I write and write and write, I always have something to write about, I always have to write a shopping list even when I will not follow through with it, I just enjoy writing. People noticed and they always told me you are a writer. I had to one day say "yes I am a writer", then I started writing stuff that I could share with others, other than writing a grocery list or writing in my journal. I took the time to share my talent, and gift.Once you open one gift, the other gifts in you will start screaming to be opened too. You will start to realize there are so many boxes that needed to be unwrapped, you might not necessarily like some,but they are still yours to keep. DO what ever you want to do with them, you can give them away, keep them, or sell them.What gifts are you willing to give away today? Those are the gifts you are willing to give back for example doing Volunteer work. What are you willing to keep, those are the ones you use to enjoy your past time. What are you will to sell? Now these are the gifts you use to make money. Are you with me so far?Follow your heart and Find your passion.

Social media and Web 2.0 have been here for some time now. Experts predict that this trend will only grow. That means if you don’t start using social media now – today – you’ll be left behind.In my interactions with women in my networks I hear confusion, a little anxiety and apprehension where it concerns using social media.It can be a very good resource when you lay a good foundation and understand some of the guidelines.Listed below are 4 tips for effectively using social media to drive traffic to your sites…1. Complete your profile.When you first open your Twitter, Facebook, Squidoo or other social media site account, fill out your profile (including a picture). Doing so makes it easier for people to get to know you and build relationships with you, which will make it more likely they’ll click through to your site. Did you know that some of your potential followers will not follow simply because you didn’t provide a picture?If you’re serious about your business (and I know you are) take the time to include a picture.2. Interact.It is no coincidence that the name Social sites includes the word social. They’re two way streets (not monologues). That’s why you shouldn’t just post content and move on. Instead, spend a few minutes each day interacting and getting to know people in your network. Simply respond to tweets, updates etc. The key again is to be social. Now you do this within reason and you don’t spend all day on social media networks. That’s another topic.3. Include a link to your site on your profile page.Your profile page is considered real estate and you must use all of your internet real estate to the full potential. This tip is simple but effective: Give people a reason to click through from the social media site to your blog or squeeze page. Your potential customer/client must get to know, like and trust you and this is aGood way to get started.4. Ask your followers/friends to retweetOn twitter your updates are called tweets and other sites my be updates or posts. If you create a “buzzworthy” post (such as a post on a hot or even controversial niche topic), ask your Twitter followers to “retweet” it. You can simply include “Plz RT” at the end of your tweets since there is a 140 character limit.Now is the time to get involved if you’d like to grow your business. You could be losing thousand's , maybe millions!Life is passing you by!"Time is fulfilling its assignment waiting on no man.Are you fulfilling your assignment waiting on no man,no-thing?" ___Robin TrambleIf we could reap the benefits of the riches in a placecalled the grave we would probably be able to settlethe financial challenges of this world. Unfortunately wecannot do that. The grave is filled with good intentions.What will good intentions do for them now?I was speaking with a new-found friend and webegan talking about how we are getting older andto what can our lack of success be attributed. Wereached an agreement on one area in particular....procrastination.There is a psychological aspect to the activity of procrastinating.It is known that we can tend to develop a habit that is learnedby our doing certain activities, which don't result in asatisfactory manner, and therefore it may cause us to feeldiscouraged. After continued episodes we don't desire or arenot inspired to continue in that manner. If we're honest withourselves we can find some areas of laziness where itconcerns pursuing our goals, completing tasks, taking timeto show love to our loved ones with a phonecall, letter, card or even a visit.My husband and I have experienced the grief of feelingthe urge to call a loved one and express our love onlyto receive a call one week later that this individual is gone.Pain? Yes! Did we learn anything from that experience.Most definitely, we don't put off calling our loved ones.My question would be why do we put off doing something?Why do we postpone or delay needlessly? Got a great idea but you can't seem to get started? You need motivation!Motivate- The term motivate means 1.supply a motive to; be the motive of 2. stimulate the interest of American century DictionaryHow can you discover a motive to succeed? What can stimulate your interest to pursue your dream?When I think back on ways I got self motivated when I felt in a slump and just couldn't get started it boils down to one thing for me...Re-igniting my vision for life. As a singer/songwriter and keyboardist I get very pumped up watching other very successful individuals with the same talents. Suddenly my vision comes alive I start revisiting the passions of my youth in music, my dreams and my goals.Expose yourself to success articles, stories and people who are doing what you'd like to do.Maybe you're saying I don't know what I want to do, I have so many ideas. Everyone has a purpose for life, a reason for your being here. Do the following: Stop what you're doing : )Close your eyes and try to revisit a time in your childhood before you were conditioned by the thoughts of others and their desires for your life (about age 8 - 10) what were your dreams, what gave you great joy, fulfillment?Can you remember what you wanted to be when you grew up?What is it that you enjoy doing that if you weren't paid a dime you would still findyourself committed to it?Open your eyes : ) Write it down.What three things are hindering you from accomplishing your dream.Is it money? Develop a plan to increase your income. Eliminate the money vacuums. (i.e. eating out everyday? Going to the grocery store everyday instead of developing a menu to save time, gas and money?) or a Latte everyday?Is it your health? What are your eating habits? Have you been to the doctor lately for a physical and follow-up.Do you exercise daily. A little goes a long way, just start!Is it education? Don't limit yourself because of this, however, you can assess the education that is necessary to fulfill your dreams. Courses, seminars, Community College, online studyetc.Change your attitude toward life! The winner's creed is a very powerful statement about our thought life.Whatever you think about yourself, situation or life is what you become.See yourself successful. See that child who saw no impossibilities if you see it you can achieve it! I'm not saying to change everything over night or become super-positive before making a move. I am saying that you have to choose change, choose life and be determined to move forward. POWER-UP! It's not too late, everything you need is within you.How can you use one of the keys above to move you forward before you hit the pillow tonight?Write down your answer and use his as an area of focus this week.Update your progress at week's end.Thing Big. Are You Living the Life You Want?

Living the life you want can be achieved by anyone. It all starts with your mind set and believing that you can have, do and be anything that you can imagine. Walt Disney once said, “if you can dream it, you can do it.” This is exactly true, but you must take action. One of the coaching exercises that I like to suggest to my clients is visualization. In this exercise, I ask my clients to take in a couple of deep breaths to help them relax and clear their minds. Then, I ask them to visualize themselves doing something that they are truly passionate about in which they see themselves living the lifestyle they want. In further creating the lifestyle you want, you can begin to ask yourself the following lifestyle questions:Am I living up to my full potential?Am I satisfied living this way?What am I tolerating?What am I waiting for?What do I really want?What would it look like to wake up happy and excited every morning?What is presently consuming my time and energy that I wish I could eliminate?Am I eating the right kinds of food?If I could change my lifestyle what would I do differently?Am I tolerating something that I could eliminate?What would really make me happy right now?Who can help me create the life I want?Lisa Willishttp://www.twitter.com/lisawilliscoach

It's The Passion Behind The Product That Matters

Hello Fellow Sisterprenuers,I have not spent much time here as yet since I've been busy recreating myself and my business. You know we have to look at ourselves every now and then and assess where we've been and where we're headed. Having my head in the game, so to speak, has inspired me to think about why I do what I do. This is the question, I believe, that will keep us fueled and inspired to keep going: what is the passion behind my product?I recently ran across a web site that talked about the value of operating from our hearts instead of our heads. I think that it is easy as business women to get a little caught up in the "gotta go and do" syndrome. I gotta go here, gotta go there, gotta call this one, gotta email that one, gotta sell, sell, sell, gotta network, and on and on. Well, yes of course there are many business related activities we are responsible for. However it is equally important to regularly reflect on why we do what we do.What else can motivate us when we are feeling a bit down or even a little pessimistic and lacking in confidence? Nothing can truly motivate us towards any gratifying action except for the "why" behind what we do. Have you ever had a meal prepared by someone who really didn't enjoy cooking? Well, chances are, the food was a bit boring or perhaps just uninspired. We like food that is prepared by someone who knows that the most important ingredient in food preparation is LOVE. This, I believe, is true for every endeavor. There must be love, purpose and passion as the driving force, otherwise our work or our "product" becomes bland, tasteless, and uninspired.My purpose is to help women build businesses and lives that they can feel good about. I am creating a community of phenomenal women: women who will commit to supporting one another, to encouraging one another and inspiring one another to live a joyful and success-filled life.
