3 Biggest Steps You Can Take Now to Survive and Thrive in a Crashing EconomyWe are living in an era where the economy fluctuates on a daily basis as we process what that shift represents to each of us and the world. President-elect Obama has stated that things will get worse before they get better, so one must prepare. In 2009, you will hear talk about deflation and depression. Personally I don't see things getting that bad, but lifestyles will change for a large number of people around the world. Many people remain unaffected to date, but this is a global happening that is rippling down to all sectors. Most people believe it is part of the cycles of time and all will be restored to balance if they are patient.Maybe ... Recently people who live and work in cities around the world, have had to shift jobs and careers, as the unemployment rate increases. And so we take a long hard look at our lives and incomes to determine how to be self sustainable whether we live on a single income, or more than one source of revenue.Years ago we were in a recession and things began to bottom out. Why? Because they just didn't work and as consciousness shifts ... that which does not work gets deleted. So let's see what we can do to preserve our lives in a sustainable way until it all shifts into something better. The following are preparatory steps complied by a friend that hopefully will guide the choices you make in 2009.Some of the suggestions go to survival in emergency situations, such as those created by natural disasters, while others go to the economy itself. You know the issues, but perhaps the information below can help you prepare today.STEP 1: Get Your Basic Necessities in Order In order to be self sustainable, one of the most vital elements to consider is whether you have enough food, water, medication, and money to last until your income returns.Action Plan1. Be sure to keep money at home to pay at least one month's bills.2. If you don't have one already, set up a 72-hour kit to be ready to go if need be. This should include basics: water, food, clothing, communication devices, passports (ID), toilet paper, etc. Visit 72hours.org for more info.3. You've heard about planting new seeds. It doesn't hurt to go back to the land and plant seed, either indoors or out.4. Gather items for your food storage. You will want to have at least 6 months worth of food supply available for your family, if possible. There is a great website that gives you all you need to know from what to stock in your food storage, to great food storage recipes: nomoregroceryshopping.blogspot.5. Find a way to cook your food whether or not you have electricity. A great step by step guide to building a solar oven can be found here: the farm, or do a google on cooking without electricity.6. If you can afford it, get solar power installed. Even if it is as simple as a solar powered flash light or radio.7. Make sure you have plenty of gas in your car to get you to wherever you need to go. Also, keep some extra gas cans around, just in case.8. For more information on how you can be prepared, visit ricktobin.com/roadtoready, and search through the archives of past radio shows on preparedness.STEP 2: Get Your Home in Order Are you currently living in a place where if something were to happen and you could not pay your bills for a while, you be okay? If not it is time to do some serious thinking about what you would do if you could not access your money from the bank.Sometimes the answer to these questions may be to downsize your home. Or it may be that you would go and live with relatives for a while until you could get back on your feet. Or if you simply do not want to leave, then perhaps you may get two part time jobs to keep you going. Whatever it is, make a plan A, and then make a plan B.Actions Plan1. Come up with a plan of action, network with family and friends.2. Get a generator that can power your home, and enough fuel to keep it going for a few days3. Consider cutting back on extra spending. Set a budget, and make sure that you are using your resources wisely.4. If you don't have one, and have the money to do so install a wood burning fireplace inside of your home, and get a couple months supply of wood that you can burn.STEP 3: Contribute We are seeing layoffs left and right, whether you are in the banking industry, the auto industry, or anywhere in between, there is a domino effect taking place. Many are wondering, what would our world be like without money? Would we go back to the barter system that was in place ages ago where one neighbor has eggs to offer and the other has wheat?Actions Plan1. Update your resume and cover letter and have it ready to go at a moments notice.2. Set clearly defined goals. What kind of work would you like to do? How much money do you expect to make? By when will you have this job?3. Finding work is a 40 hour a week job. Get off of the couch, search for jobs and post your resume left and right.4. If you have the resources and the knowledge to bring it about, start your own business. You can set it up as a side business for a start.5. Figure out what your best at. What is a practical life skill you have that you can offer? Are you great at building homes? Making bread? Knitting blankets? Do you have an orchard producing apples?6. Network with people who have different skills and trades. You never know when you may need to barter.7. Visualize and clearly see exactly where it is you see yourself being. When you have done all that you can do, have absolute faith that you will be provided for.Summary"When you have come to the edge Of all light that you know And are about to drop off into the darkness Of the unknown, Faith is knowing One of two things will happen: There will be something solid to stand on or You will be taught to fly" -Patrick OvertonWe are coming to a point in the world right now where it is time to get back to the simple things in life. As you simplify your life, you will find that there is immeasurable reassurance that comes with it.The knowledge that you have the power and the know-how to take care of yourself is something that no amount of money can buy.Living a simpler life not only takes away many stress factors, it also facilitates that close feeling of interconnectedness with our fellow human beings.By networking with those around you, you are able to develop relationships with people who you otherwise may have just passed by. Never give up on your dreams, always strive towards them, and be willing to take what comes and face reality as it is.Don't let the media and their fear keep you in their paralyzing grip. Choose instead to get your home in order and be ready for whatever life may decide to throw at you.

It's Time, but I am scared...

A Message from BBWO Small Business Expert Richelle Shaw: It’s time for my business but I am really nervous and scared! As the premier expert in business building I meet with entrepreneurs weekly about how to build their million dollar business and even though we focus the majority of the time on different strategies to grow their businesses we always end up working on their head too. Today my coaching client told me that she is scared. So when I pressed her, tell me what you are scared about, she was really at a loss for words. She could not articulate what she was scared about. Then, she said, well, its that I am really shy and putting myself out there is scary. I have lots of clients, plenty of people to buy my products and I have made money, but if I just had a spokes model to sell my products! She said Richelle, I bought all of the promotional products, I have pens, I have business cards, I have lots of marketing materials but I have not reached out there and started selling like I can. I am keeping my day job and focusing on the dream not the reality. I felt for her, I understand exactly how that happens. Once again, I go back to the weight loss issue. Every time I get ready to lose weight, I buy lots of products to assist me… just like she buys the pens, cards and postcards… BUT the reality is that you have to do something. Here are my suggestions to break out of your shell, earn the money that you deserve. 1. As far as having a dream, Acknowledge that it is fun to live in Hollywood but realize that it is Hollywood. It is not real. I think you should have dreams but you must construct a plan to implement the dream. The difference between a dream and a goal is the goal has action plans, the dream you actually wake up one day still in the same place. 2. It is easy to keep dreaming because you never have to act on it, plus everything is perfect in the dream. The response rates from your marketing are great, the sales are earth moving. It is based on what you think, now what you know. 3. As far as being shy, Use the Beyonce example and become Sasha Fierce! Create a new persona to run your company and be the face of your business. Have someone create a cartoon and use that on your website and in your mailings so that it’s Sasha that is out there not you. Finally, aren’t you tired of being right where you are. Make a change. No matter if you succeed or fail, at least you are not stuck. If you think you might need coaching help to take your business to a million dollars, consider the Women of Color Coaching Program. We do have a special discount just for you: 1. You will receive the 3 Coaching Calls which include the Essential Lists for Profit in your business, Live Q&A plus FREE marketing online. 2. “A Mercy” by Toni Morrison

Toni Morrison is also known for her first book, The Bluest Eye, Song of Solomon, Sula and Beloved just to mention a few of those most well known. A Mercy is her ninth novel recently released this fall.Born Chloe Anthony Wofford, in 1931 in Lorain (Ohio), the second of four children in a black working-class family. Her parents moved to Ohio from the South to escape racism and to find better opportunities in the North.Toni Morrison is the first black woman to receive Nobel Prize in Literature. Her stories explore the experiences and roles of black women in a racist and male dominated society and celebrates the unique cultural inheritance of African-Americans.Storytelling is a tradition in the Black family as a way of sharing time together Morrison recalled listening to the older relatives use homespun wisdom when telling tales for hours at family gatherings when she was growing up in Ohio. Morrison’s relatives had her retell the stories she had heard from their mouths, a challenge she said she reveled in, adding her own embellishments to make the stories more outrageous. The stories, many of which she described as violent and “really terrible,” whetted her appetite for books, and to this day influence her writing.Read moreOmitunde, Publisher of African American Family ConnectionAn online magazine about African American Family values and community.Visit AAFC for the latest issue each month and a copy of "The Ripple Effect".

Okay ladies…time to confess. How many times have you returned to the house with a trunk full of shopping bags and hid them in the washer, basement, behind the couch, stuffed deep behind your 20th pair of shoes, etc. from your husband or partner??? Or, said to yourself, “he can’t tell me how to spend my money, I can shop wherever I want to!” But you’re using his credit card and checkbook…. Does this sound familiar??? I know -- I’d been guilty of this type of behavior occasionally. This morning I was going over the events of a party last night that I worked - you know, what worked/didn't work/what to improve next time, etc. I mentioned to my boyfriend about when I got ready to close most of the sales, some of the responses were, “I need to talk to my boyfriend/husband first”. I saw women desperately want to buy Minx AND Aurora to get their groove back on track yet they hesitated, let out a disappointing sigh and left. Wouldn’t your immediate thought be – this another stall tactic? I did until my boyfriend gave me a male perspective.A man wants believe that he satisfies his woman in bed. PERIOD!If she goes to a sexy lingerie party where bedroom accessories and toys are featured then one night says, ‘baby, fire this up!’ his immediate reaction might be, ‘what the hell is this thing, am I not enough man for you?!’ His sexual confidence and erection just hit a low because he thought everything was fine and you know ladies, we can fake it really good at times. He’s walking around feeling dejected and you’re still frustrated.Help your honey bear understand you still need him. Tell him about the party before you go. Get him excited by explaining the benefits of how the toy can bring pleasure to both of you. Sit down together and pick which ones you both want to try then watch him ready hand over the card! He’s now ready and excited that it’s about to be on and poppin! You included your partner in the process. Afterwards, both of you will truly be exhausted and satisfied.Another tip: keep the toy(s) on HIS side of the nightstand. Don’t ask why, just do it – it’s a man thang! For more information or product recommendations, send me an email or visit my website at www.bootyparlorparties.com/dsm

Corporate Consecration

Hello Family,God’s grace and favor be with you as we close out this year. I don’t know about you, but this has been quite a year for me. One of dramatic endings and awesome new beginnings, and the year is not over yet. What an incredible God we serve, There is truly never a dull moment in Him.Once again, God has laid it upon my heart to invite you to join me in a corporate time of prayer and fasting as we enter the New Year. For those of you who participated at the beginning of this year you know first hand the blessings and testimonies that came forth through our seeking God together. Many saw the salvation and healings as well as the baptism in the Holy Spirit for our friends and love ones. There was even the testimony of a womb opening and the conception of a beautiful baby boy.Without a doubt there is something very special about giving yourself to God as a first fruit offering in a time of prayer, fasting and intimacy with Him. There is no better way to start the New Year. This time of corporate consecration will begin at 12 noon on January 1 and end at 7:00 AM on January 8. There is no distance in the spirit realm so you may join in from where ever you are. If you desire, you may also join me in Las Vegas , as I will be shutting in this whole time at the New Bethany Family Worship Center . There is something about getting away from everything and going to a quiet place in God.Please send me the names of everyone you would like included in our corporate time of prayer during that week and I will include them on our prayer calendar. As you prepare your list, please include Name (or initials) and what the prayer request is i.e. salvation, healing, direction, marriage etc. I need to have all names by December 27 as I will distribute the prayer calendar on Dec. 30.If you desire to participate, please respond to this email and let me know so I can keep you up to date as we progress. I will also be posting information in blog form so check my blogs as we get closer as well. I have posted updated versions of two of my blogs from last year to give those of you who are new friends some insight to our corporate consecration. Please read “The Clarion Call” and “A time of preparation” at:www.blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.ListAll&friendID=241737476I look forward to an awesome time with you in the spirit realm.Be Blessed!Minister Coylette JamesGod's Marketplace Ministries

Direct Marketing Keys

Greetings! One of the most important thing in marketing is knowing who your target audience is. How do you gain potential buyers, listeners, and readers? It is through share of mind. We have all heard the saying, "change your thinking and you will change your life" this is more than a saying it is so true. Understanding your audience makes the difference to your success. The key to direct marketing is trial/error, repetition and PATIENCE. Patience enables us to have a realistic expectation of who the audience is and what that audience will favorably respond to. Think about how long it has taken to cultivate your skills. How many days and nights of studying did you invest to receive a degree or rehearsing before reasonably confident about performing to a live audience. What you are doing or have done to cultivate your skills is "DEVELOPMENT". Personal, social, and now marketing. It takes longer to develop your marketing (for longevity) than it will developing everything else. Direct Marketing requires patience and commitment to gain share of mind.Know your target audience. Often the audience we think we should target, is so NOT. You will only know this through trial and error, repetition and the primal key is patience.Lisa Henry

What is GUERRILLA marketing? Re-Post

Greetings!Marketing concepts change very fast, however the heart and soul of guerrilla marketing remains unchanged. The first rule of this strategy is to have the ability to adapt. Guerrilla marketing uses creativity, imagination, and not traditional marketing in the least. Ones who market traditionally usually are very well funded and have fat budgets and resources. My legal marketing clients usually are just out of law school or have no resources at all. I learned these tactics the old fashioned way through on the job trial and error. The first thing I learned quickly is to build an informational database on all prospective clients. A prospect is someone who maybe in need of your products or services. Grocery stores do it on a regular basis. Here in the south most everyone has a Kroger Card from Kroger Grocery store. You give the check out clerk the card to swipe to receive rewards and a percentage off your purchase. It is great!! Now with your consent the grocery store is compiling information about your purchases. If you buy Cherrios, then they may send you Wheaties or another grain/oat cereal coupon in the mail. Wheaties may be paying the grocery store a little more for shelf space.Database marketing is an effective guerrilla marketing tool. It is gathering information and using it creatively and legally to promote your products and services on a very low budget. Start your database today. It is a revenue generator for any business. I have used dBase, excel, and access. The most effective platform I have used for staff convenience is on www.WebExOne.com, an online web office service. I can move to any office or location and have realtime benefit.Any questions about guerrilla marketing, message me or join today!Sincerely,Lisa Henry
