Recently, I have come in contact with several members of various sites and I have been asked time and time again where did you come from and how did you make such an impression so fast. Well I love people and I have always been a people person and every field that I have worked in has been catered around helping others, it’s a passion that I have. I spend a lot of time doing so, but I don’t mind because it’s fun. My fiancé asked me the other night, “Why don’t you help others do the same thing that you have done; I’m sure that they would appreciate it.” Now if you have been following my blog you will know that once a “Richetta” gets started on something there is no turning back. Deadline: January 15, 2010Applications Available for AAUW Community Action GrantsAAUW (formerly known as the American Association of University Women), a leader in advancing education for women, annually offers fellowship and grant programs designed to help women gain greater access to educational and economic opportunities.The AAUW Community Action Grants Program provides funds to individuals, AAUW branches, and AAUW state organizations as well as local community-based nonprofit organizations for innovative programs or non-degree research projects that promote education and equity for women and girls.The program's one-year grants ($2,000 to $7,000 each over one year) provide seed money for new projects. Two-year grants ($5,000 to $10,000 each over two years) provide start-up funds for longer-term programs that address the particular needs of the community and develop girls' sense of efficacy through leadership or advocacy opportunities. Topic areas are unrestricted but should include a clearly defined activity that promotes education and equity for women and girls. Special consideration will be given to projects focused on K-12 and community college girls' and women's achievements in science, technology, engineering or math.To be eligible, applicants must be women who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Nonprofit organizations must be based in the United States. Grant projects must have direct public impact, be nonpartisan, and take place within the United States or its territories.

Social Networks - "The Purpose" Part 2

I want to say thank you to all of you that responded to Part one of this post. I appreciated all of the comments whether they were good or bad, sweet or bitter. I welcome all suggestions, comments or critics because it brings awareness to the mindset of my valued readers.This response is to clear the air and to make sure that I make my intentions known to all. The blog was intended to raise awareness not to attack anyone or their site. If I’m a member of your site then that means that you haven’t failed me, when members start leaving that’s when you start becoming concerned. I posed the following questions concerning social networks on the previous post:1. Does the network description, mission or purpose match what is actually happening?2. Do you receive feed back and information from site manager, group leaders etc?3. Are the groups active? Meaning is there a discussion thread started at least once a week?4. Is the network administrator accessible?5. The blogs, are they informative and submitted daily? (Versus Just marketing holes)These were just questions to think about, I still feel that they are valid as a voluntary member of all ning sites. As a member and network administrator I have expectations, it’s a two-way street. Now if your site is a private group that you reign over, then yes you may have a dictatorship and then that site may not be for everyone. However the sites that I administrate are meant to be community based, meaning everyone is important and valued. For if you have a membership site and you have no members…what purpose would that serve?So with that said, my points are intended for my members too, I want to be held to a standard and would hope that my other network administrators should feel the same way. It’s not to say that if you don’t meet all those areas that you have a bad site or you’re not doing your job, it’s just something to think about. Maybe you are too busy in your offline life. Some suggestions may be to elicit group leaders or site administrators. And of course essentially it is your site, to do as you please with it and by all means I respect anyone’s wishes, I’m really easy to get along with...However tonight I was ask to leave someone’s network because of that blog and to be honest I had never had a conversation with her before, no welcome to the site, nothing. You can’t please everyone and you will die trying. I feel I have a voice and I will not be muzzled but I have enough humility to know when to say maybe I should have been clearer with my intentions. Maybe I should have reworded that etc…I only named a few sites because I did not want to make a long list and leave out 3 sites and those administrators would have thought I was talking about them. I’m a member of 40+ sites and I was a member of 50+ I already left the ones that I was talking about. I would never get on a persons site and post a blog attacking them that would be so rude and just plan wrong.In addition let it be known what a blog is:“A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is “blogging” and someone who keeps a blog is a “blogger.” SourceSo when reading a blog please understand that they are meant to inform, entertain, encourage or provoke thought. But at the end of the day their just a person’s personal views, ideas and blurbs. Now if the person is a verifiable expert on that subject matter then that is when you can make there blog semi-law and still there is room for flaws. Don’t be so quick to condemn them. 10 Steps to a Successful Business Year

by Karen A. DavisA new year causes most of us to stop and reflect on past successes and failures and what we want to accomplish in the next 12 months. You may have New Year’s resolutions or on-going goals. Honestly assessing your position in your field and thinking strategically about your where you want your business or career to be at year’s end will move you towards the goals you have for this year and beyond. The following ten steps will assist you in creating a written guide to follow throughout the year.1. Review your goals from last year. Which did you meet and which ones did you miss? Decide goals that should be carried over into this year, and the ones that can be put aside for later or disregarded altogether.2. What challenges or obstacles did you encounter last year? List how you dealt with them and the outcomes – whether you were successful or not – and how you will avoid them in the future.3. Define your passion. What do you really want to be doing? Are you doing it, or is your current career or business taking you in the direction of your dream? If not, how can you reconcile what you are doing now with what you want to do?4. Define your ideal client: What do they look like? Where do they live or work? How much money do they have to spend? What type of project will they present you with? What will your working relationship be like?5. Research your competition – their clients, service offerings, and pricing – especially your number one competitor.6. Define where your business will be in the next year. This, along with Step 7, will probably be the longest part of the process. Take some time to visualize how your company or career will look. Walk through a typical day. Outline the financials. Determine how you want to feel on December 31st.7. Outline the steps to make your goals for the next year a reality based on your plans from Step 6. Begin with a general outline, and then get more detailed, developing a monthly worksheet or guide.8. Make sure all of your marketing and public relations materials are consistent with the message you want to promote over the next year. Your business cards, brochures, website, and social networking sites should communicate your brand.9. Identify three ways to meet and engage the clients described in Step 4. Define the meeting location. Work on an appealing opening line and your elevator pitch, and describe how you can meet their needs.10. I’ve talked about mindset for quite abit and I will continue to talk about it because it is one thingthat sabotages our success in life. There are a coupleof mindset shifts that need to happen if you’re going to havebreakthrough in 2010 and realize the benefits of women’s empowerment.I’ll list four of them below.1. ThoughtsYour thoughts play a big role in what you manifest and have manifested.Your subconscious mind is ready to move on what you say and what youthink. It doesn’t know the difference between Whether you’re serious orif your statement or thought is temporary based on your current situationor not. Your subconscious mind is ready to move on whatever you presentto it as such it’s important that you make the shift towards a positivemindset.Your thoughts become energy. If your thoughts are negative, theenergy is negative; If positive , then the energy is positive.When emotions become involved with the thoughts, the energy is evenstronger. The energy, however, doesn’t remain dormant – it expands.It expands each time you think your thought.As energy builds and gains strength, it begins to attract like energy.Like a magnet, the energy attracts other like matter to it. Since theenergy is inside you, it attracts the like matter to you.As you can see, negative thoughts and energy weaken you and yourability to achieve.2. Quantum leapThere’s no more time to move slow on your aspirations. It’s time to makequantum leaps. Time to think bigger, dream bigger and live bigger. An Overdue Introduction

I am WarriorAngel HunterGoddess. It is the name my parents gave me and accurately reflective of what I’m sent to do. I am heir, bond servant and bride of Love and Truth. I am an ambassador sent to African America to arm and prepare those called as warriors to infiltrate, overtake and irrevocably upturn the tables of hate, divisiveness and fear in the temple of the American status quo.I know Truth is absolute. Doubt it? Strike a match in a pitch room. Darkness must flee in the face of light and it may not return as long as the light endures. Like darkness confronted by light, fear and hate are annihilated by the antithetical two-edged sword of truth and love. There are swords enough for all willing to wield one, but be clear; this is a call to war. Allow me to draw your attention to my choice of words. I’ve no affinity for martyrdom and I’m not talking to you about a passive resistance, while we’re getting our heads beat in, kind of love.The Bible tells of a man asking Jesus which commandments are the greatest. Jesus told him to love God with all his heart, mind and strength and love his neighbor as himself. Most of us, no matter our spiritual tradition, adhere, as best we can, to those words. We strive to perfect our love of Divinity and humanity, but both as individuals and communities we all too often forget the bridge. We forget to consciously and intentionally love ourselves.African America we’ve spent the entirety of our generations in this country fighting against injustice and tyranny. In case you haven’t noticed, for the entirety of our generations in this country, we’ve been largely spinning our wheels. Sure the wrapping paper has gotten prettier, more elaborate over the years, but the contents remain a stinking, festering mass of disenfranchisement, divisiveness and vitriol. Bottom line – what we’ve been doing clearly ain’t working. Time for a new plan. And before you raise the Barrack Obama banner, take a moment to consider the 21 year old mentally ill African American man-child tasered to death by police in his own front yard, while his momma watched. Yes, he was unruly. The officers were informed by the family that the young man’s agitation was due to his failure to take his medication. Forearmed with this knowledge the officer involved elected to send paramedics away and end his life instead.Ya’ll do know the definition of insanity is doing the same old thing repeatedly expecting different results?Swords are multipurpose tools. The first thing I want you to do with yours, should you opt to step out and take one, is draw a proverbial line in the sand. Determine that “them” and “they” are completely immaterial unless and until they breach that line. Determine that a breach is cause for you to simply and without malice cut their head off. There is no need of warning; we’ve made our protests known long and loud. The time has past come for consistent application of that old adage, “Action speaks louder than word.”This is a call to arms African America. I know can’t all ya’ll hear me, but then I’m only calling the warriors who can. When will we reclaim the authority and responsibility that is our legacy? Need I remind you the origin of all mankind is Africa? I say the time is now. I assert we possess the inherent power and wisdom to be the change we want to see, not the cliché, the manifestation. While its true history has acted upon African America with rare ruthlessness, we are only at the mercy of current circumstances to the extent we refuse to take sole responsibility for our own autonomy.The Bible says, “From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of Heaven suffereth violence and the violent take it by force.” Now, I’m not talking about golden streets and pearl gates; I’m talking about taking it right here, right now, on terra firma. I have a violent commitment to integrity, excellence and service and a violent desire for everything Divinity promised as mine. What about you? Can we agree the path to social-political “freedom” in America is paved with green paper effigies? Then it follows that to attain such freedom we must attain and focus sufficient capital to control not just our personal circumstances but the land and commerce in our communities. The economy is sour and unemployment soars; many are flat back against the wall. Seems it can’t get much worse and personally, as necessity is the mother of invention and we are nothing if not an innovative people, I think we should be jumping and shouting for joy. Yeah, I’m a little bit crazy, but can you honestly think of a better environment for igniting and nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit smoldering among us? How better to have your own than to have your own? America is in debt to the brow of her unseeing eye; if we don’t own our hoods, China will.It’s a simple 2 step process ya’ll. I’m talking about a love that without judgment uplifts and empowers those who have fallen but would stand and walk again.
