Vitamin D can be derived naturally from the sun. For the average person, spending as much at 10 to 20 minutes in the sun at least three times a week will fulfill their vitamin D requirements. Keep in mind that people with darker skin need more sun exposure because the melanin in the skin tends to block vitamin D absorption. In addition, those who live in an area which is north of Columbia, South Carolina’s latitude may not be exposed to enough sun during the winter months and may require supplementation.
Rutgers University, with campuses in New Brunswick and Newark, New Jersey is conducting an ongoing study in regards to how supplementation of vitamin D can halt and/or decrease bone loss in post-menopausal women who are dieting. Furthermore, recent studies have shown that keeping sufficient levels of vitamin D may aid in weight loss.
Even though vitamin D supplements may keep the body healthy and may be natural, more does not always mean better. An overdose of vitamin D may cause kidney damage, high blood pressure and heart arrhythmia. If you suspect that you may have a vitamin D deficiency, check with your doctor or other medical professional to get an official diagnosis.

I have been in the shea body butter business since 2006. As a woman who wears her hair natural, I've been working with my butters and oils over the years to create a formulation that is both good for the hair and
will also give me the shine and curl definition that I need.
I've tried many products on the market, but always found them too sticky, too greasy or too many chemicals. I also don't care for the use of mineral oil on my hair because it doesn't seem to absorb. (Note
that I am not against mineral oil - I use good ol' Vaseline for those pesky edges as well as to remove makeup on occasion.)
After much experimentation and melting and whipping, I finally created a product that is great for my, and my daughter's natural hair. It gives us shine and curl definition and is never sticky or too greasy.

The Mind
Whewwww, "she" can chatter all day long; from what you need to do right now, what you didn't do yesterday, how many things you have to get done nowwww. "She" will keep you up at night, and before you know it, you are on Ambien. So I brain drain.-Brain drain: write down a list of everything you need to do on a notepad, from grocery store to going to the bank to chaperoning your kids next field trip.
-Stop being negative; I am sure you already know this, whatever you focus on expands, if you focus on negativity, what's
wrong in your life, you will get more of it.-Let your mind float freely. Imagine that you have no limitations. Imagine that you have all the time, money, resources, intelligence, education, experience and all the contacts in the world. Imagine that you could do, be or have anything in your life. What if you had no fear of failure at all?
-Your most important goals/intentions must be YOURS. Not your spouse's, your child's, your employer's, your mother's, your sister's....
-Write your intentions in positive terms, avoid saying "I will not be. Your subconscious mind is very specific and it doesn't judge, it will attract like a magnet whatever you focus on.
If you've never read 'The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind", pick up a copy, a great book....I have 2 copies, dog-eared to the 10th power lol.The Body
If you are not kind to it now, it will be hostile to you later.
-Move it; you don't have to be a slave to the treadmill, hike, take a walk with your dog, take your kids or grandkids to the park and become one of them, salsa dance (my faaaavorite woo hoo).

You can check out Dr. Wayne Dyer's book "Getting in the gap". -Surrender, this is now a daily practice of mine, it has truly become a habit. To surrender means to yield, to relinquish control over. When we surrender to God, we are simply acknowledging that what we "own" actually belongs to Him. He is the giver of all good things. By surrendering to God, we admit that He is ultimately in control of everything, including our present circumstances. Let Go, let God.
-Forgive someone; Love someone; Compliment someone and mean it, say Thank You.

Despite the pictures you may see of me with straight hair, I am a curly girl ususally. Sometimes I’ll get into a tussle with the hair dryer and end up with straight hair, but if you see me dropping off my
kindergartener in the morning, you’ll see a mass of curly hair. Either way, in the years that I’ve been taking care of my hair, I’ve noticed the biggest problem with my hair is that it needs, craves moisture.
I’ve used numerous treatments on my hair, all of which do work, but I wanted to share the Hot Oil Hair treatment.
Now, you can purchase those little tubes of oil in the store for a buck or two, but listen to me, you can do your hot oil hair treatment for free. I say for free because you probably all ready have what you
need right at home i
n your cabinet.
Ingredients you will need: Olive oil or soybean oil….that’s it! Of course you can get fancy if you like, but it’s the oil that counts, so I like to stick to the basics.
Depending on the amount of hair that you have, heat a 1/2 to a cup of olive oil in the microwave. I usually use a mug and heat up my olive oil in that. Heat for about 45 seconds to 1 min, depending on the power of your microwave.
BE CAREFUL THE OIL IS HOT! Please test the the oil before applying it to your scalp. Hot oil can burn!!! No, I haven’t been burned, but I did have an “owie” moment with my fingers. You can use an cotton ball to apply the oil to the scalp and roots. Be sure to saturate the hair as much as you can.
Pop a shower cap on your head and relax for about 15 minutes, or as long as you want.
Rinse your hair with warm water – since I’m natural, the more oil that is sort of “left over” the better. Rinse as much as you wish, then towel dry.
