Networking Together - Making it Real

Networking Together - Making It RealWe have so many avenues of technology available to us. We have free avenues to promote our books, businesses and express our inner thoughts.I am rather green to the whole social network "ring". I enjoy networking and working with others to help promote one another. It's through relationships that are businesses will grow and make the necessary contacts to take our business to the next level.Join me on Twitter http://twitter.com/monarchpubllc not certain of how productive it will be but it's the latest technology that I am really to try.Let's not just commit through joining sites, but let's really follow-up and support one another with purchases, give-a-ways (only when possible), conference invitations, reviews, passing on emails and signing guest books on websites and considering request we receive to network.

Many of us we have joined various online social networks and have begun accepting friendships from members of those groups. While online social networking is an excellent way to build your network, what are you doing once you have a long list of friends in your networks? How do you establish true professional relationships? How do you develop that network? Are you really utilizing that network to build synergies and collaborations, develop a referral system thus increasing your business revenue? How do you do this? There are many options:1. RECOMMEND one another for specific services each of you provides2. SUPPORT local events3. EXCHANGE links4. PURCHASE their product5. HIRE that company for a serviceBy doing this you not only build a long lasting network but a solid business track record. This week’s assignmentSelect 5 friends from your social networking groups and determine which of the 5 options listed above you will utilize to strengthen your alliance with the individual/organization.Your Success Advisor,Alive Inc. Updates and Social Networking Works

Hi all!As you may or may not know, I've opened a new website for sista-, mom- and women-preneurs. The url is womenpreneurs.info,. It is primarily an informational site and I encourage you all to sign up for email updates. In addition, I have placed all of the BBC featured businesses on this site also. If you were a featured business of the BBC and your site has not been added, please drop me a line using the "Contact Box" on the front page of the site.I am also still chugging along on my 60 day Squidoo Challenge. Let me tell you, it is a challenge. Writing on something new everyday is certainly stretching my creative and writing skills. However, as I get to the topic of my post - it's well worth the challenge - because Social Networking works.I joined sistapreneurs.com in November of 2007, but I have not been truly active until Feb-March of this year. I also purchased LaShanda's "banner ad" package and my ads are running on her network of sites. I was checking my statcounter the other day and I started looking at my traffic and where it came from. 72% of my traffic to my sales sites originated from either sistapreneurs.com, one of msoyonline.com sites or a person with whom I connected on this site. That is a tremendous amount of traffic! In February, my total page visits were 944 (for the month) . By July, it has risen to 1600 for the month.Social networking works - I have three blogs (not including what I do on here), I write content for Squidoo, I have two sales websites (which I have optimized for the search engine), I write guest posts on other blogs, I have a myspace, I twitter, I'm on linkedin and facebook. Plus, my new website, womenpreneurs. Whew! It's a lot of work, but since I'm seeing results, it's well worth it.I truly expect my page hits to increase --I'm actually preparing for Christmas as we speak. So, please, if you're blogging, tweeting, etc. and not thinking you're seeing results, look at what you're doing -- target your audience and write to them.I remember one thing that Richelle Shaw said in her teleseminar - you are selling yourself - the product is just a by-product of your successful selling of you. If you can get people to connect with you, you will be able to sell them your product or service. Stop selling your product and sell yourself. Good luck!CeeCee Woolard

Be Prepared

Whose motto was Be Prepared? Who knew that this motto would be effective for the rest of my life. As a young girl, I was a part of the Girls Scout and that was our motto. These two simple yet powerful words have made an impact in all areas of my life. Being prepared is something that is necessary to handle sudden changes, challenges and everyday issues. We are now offering training workshops to various businesses. Our initial target audience was to the health care facilities. The workshops are targeted to improve relations with the internal and external clients as this makes a marked difference in the success of one’s business. In sharing the growth and development at a networking event, I was asked to present the workshop for a corporate company. I accepted the opportunity as it occurred to me that the training would be beneficial for anyone in business. It was well received and now we are receiving more requests that are outside of the market we thought would best benefit from our service. Now we are traveling to cities/towns across the country. This is to encourage you to not only network but be ready to adjust to the requests that may assist you in the growth of your business. Remember you should always Be Prepared!

You're Here! - Now What?

I have had the distinct pleasure of seeing this grow by over a thousand members in the space of only a few months. In looking throughmy blog posts I noticed that I posted an article about ‘creating relationshipsonline’ and how important it is do so, especially if yours is a strictly onlinebusiness.

Because the group has grown so much in such a short time, I wanted to reiterate some of the points that I wrote about in the blog post.Perhaps this is the first online group that you have joined or you’re an oldonline veteran (like me, lol). Either way, we can all still gain something fromeach other, but only if you’re willing to get in and participate.

Many people join online groups, create a page in this group and expect the dollars to roll in, because of course, your product or service isso irresistible that all you have to do is “be” and folks will come to you. I’mreally sorry to burst your bubble, but, sor-ry – it just ain’t so. You have towork much harder at creating relationships online because you do not have theforce of your physical presence (in person/on phone) to back up your salespitch.

I would like to provide you with a few pointers to find and foster relationships (read network) online.

  • Form a relationship based on what you can give, rather than what you can get.
A lot of people have the attitude "I'm not going to do anything for anyone ifthere's nothing in it for me." We all remember our high schoolliterature, right? "No man is an island". Although you may not beworking side by side with other entrepreneurs/business women, we are allconnected in one way or another. Now I'm not saying talk up someoneelse's product over your own, but there's no harm in giving out the name of asistapreneur who you know can help someone. For example, someone postedon this board about needing a lawyer. I replied that one of the sisterson the board was a representative for Pre-Paid Legal Services - hopefullythese two sisters were able to connect and both benefit from my"introduction".

  • Don't wait for people to come to you
Cruise around BBWO and get the lay of the land. Run a search for yourkeywords or check out a few profiles at random. Leave a comment (yourcalling card) on profiles that interest you. For example, as a naturalbath and body maker, I looked for other bath and body makers. Then Ilooked for holistic/natural practitioners, then I looked for natural haircare. As I ran this search, I found a few sisters who shared my samevision or with whom I could connect with on another level. Reach out, leave a comment!

  • Personalize your approach
Please, please, do not leave a generic comment on 20 profiles. "I've gota great automated business that will generate multiple streams of incomethrough affiliate marketing." You've heard it, I've heard it, we've allheard it. Take the time to come up with something original, likeactually reading the person's profile and asking a question about what theydo.

  • Read the boards.
LaShanda has said this all ready but I'll say it again. Read! Iwas fortunate enough to be interviewed by a lovely lady from Canada AND Ilearned about a trend called New Urbanism. How? If I can't doanything else, I read the front page of BBWO from top to bottom at least threetimes a week. Even if I don't post, I check the newsfeed. Sistersare asking for advice, for information, for guest bloggers, samples for goodybags, article content - there's plenty going on.

  • Be professional
Maybe I'm a prude, but nothing turns me off more than foul language on abusiness board. If I'm on a personal board, hey, I know that anythingpretty much goes. But when I'm reading your blog post request for guestbloggers which used profanity, I'm not sure I want to be associated with yoursite. Save the profanity for your friends, please! You never knowhow people will react to your choice of language.

For more pointers on finding your way around BBWO, see LaShanda's post andmy original post on this topic.

An Introduction to Twitter

Hey Ladies, Twitter is a great way to build business relationships, but I know that getting acclimated to it can be a bit daunting. So I've outlined a step by step process to help you get started. Let me know if you have questions.
An Introduction
Think of Twitter as text messaging on the web. It's a new way to instantly communicate with family, friends and business associates via the web. (Though technically, Twitter isn't a new technology. It's been around since March 2006.)
Why Twitter?
I've heard many ask the question: why Twitter? Twitter is more time efficient than sending an email and it allows users to maintain a personal identity while participating in a community.Even though it can be a bit confusing at the start, effectively using Twitter can help increase awareness of your blog or business and strengthen relationships both on and offline. Additionally, once you learn how to use it, it can be a great tool for branding and customer service (which I'll get into later). I understand the trials of a new Twitterer. I'll admit that I had my Twitter account for months before I posted my first tweet, but getting started is actually much easier than it seems.
First Steps...
First, signup with a username. I chose my own name because I have so many blogs and online properties that I wanted to eliminate any confusion, but using your brand or blog name is always a great idea (branding101). Usernames may be 15 characters long (I learned that one the hard way).Sidenote: Make sure to signup on all social media sites with your blog and/or brand name before someone else does. Malicious users have been known to stakeout well known names in order to damage the personal or professional reputation of their rightful owners (more on that later).read the rest...

Ah, I've discovered a new pastime - twittering. I twitter to my tweeps, keeping them updated on the details of my life/business life. Let me tell you, it's some experience. What is Twitter? From Wikipedia:Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send updates (otherwise known as tweets) which are text-based posts, ranging up to 140 characters long.Who actually uses Twitter? (also from Wikipedia)Enterprise use* Businesses such as Cisco Systems, Whole Foods Market, Dell, Zappos.com, and Comcast use Twitter to provide updates to customers.* The Los Angeles Fire Department put the technology to use during the October 2007 California wildfires.* NASA used Twitter to break the news of discovery of what appeared to be water ice on Mars by the Phoenix Mars Lander.* News outlets such as CNN and the BBC have also started using Twitter to disseminate breaking news or provide information feeds for sporting events.* Several 2008 U.S. presidential campaigns use Twitter as a publicity mechanism, including that of Democratic Party nominee Barack Obama.[9]. The Nader/Gonzalez campaign uses Twitter and Google Maps to show real-time updates of their ballot access teams across the country.* The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Engineering is using Twitter to relay information to students. The point seems to be that Twitter is good for your business. But before you jump on and start Twittering your life away, here are some tips for using Twitter for your biz. (By no means is this a complete list.)5 Tips for Using Twitter for Business1. Use Twitter to announce a new blog post, a new article or a press release2. Brand yourself - Post tips or tidbits of information that will brand you as an expert in your field3. Network - select and follow people that you think might be interested in your product or service or find like minded people with which to collaborate4. Post links to interesting websites, articles or podcasts5. Post time sensitive promotions such as one day sales, or contestsNote: It helps if you respond to other's tweets once in a while. Twitter, is a two-way street - if you are constantly just posting information and not responding to other's postings, that makes it difficult to form "soft" relationships via Twitter. These are just a few ways that I, as a newbie, have used Twitter. I'm sure you can think of a few more!Follow me at www.twitter.com/neosoulsister

Hello BBWO, I know this site is for enterprising ladies to communicate. Not trying to intrude. How to Create a "Media Buzz"

No one’s going to know anything about you do unless you tell them. You have to “create a buzz.” What does that mean? It means you have to market yourself in such a way that creates attention to you and visibility. How do you do that?Promote Yourself. Don’t Be Shy. If you want to be recognized for what you do you have to promote yourself. I am a big fan of Press Releases, however, they only work if you know how to write them. As a former News Assignment Editor I can tell you first-hand that an overwhelming majority of releases get tossed by journalists because they are either poorly written, lack newsworthiness or are just plain dull. The headline of your press release should be an attention grabber.Which one of these headlines would make you want to read more?Invite Me Over to Trash Your HouseNew Author Wants to Help You Organize Your HouseIf you’re an author, find a way to tie your book into a current news event. Or better yet, create your own media news event. Romance authors, for example, should always be able to capitalize during the holidays---especially Valentine’s Day.You can also promote yourself thru blogging and connecting to groups and organizations—both on and offline.

Hello Beautiful Ladies of BBWO! My name is Zanira and I would like to share the following story with all of you. !Zanira's Quote of the Day -II AM WORTH IT!I’M WORTH A LOT!During a brief conversation, a man asked a woman he was pursuing the question “What kind of man are you looking for?” She sat quietly for a moment before looking him in the eye and asking, “Do you really want to know?” Reluctantly, he said, “Yes.”She began to expound…..”As a woman in this day and age, I am in a position to ask a man what he can do for me that I can’t do for myself. I pay my own bills, I take care of my household without the help of any man. I am in the position to ask, “What can you bring to the table?” The man looked at her. Clearly he thought that she was referring to money. She quickly corrected his thought and stated, “I am not referring to money, I need something more. I need a man who is striving for perfection in every aspect of life.”He sat back in his chair, folded his arms, and asked her to explain. She said, “I am looking for someone who is striving for perfection mentally because I need conversation and mental stimulation. I don’t need a simple minded man. I am looking for someone who is striving for perfection spiritually because I don’t need to be unequally yoked…..believers mixed with unbelievers is a recipe for disaster. I need a man who is striving for perfection financially because I don’t need a financial burden. I am looking for someone who is sensitive enough to understand what I go through as a woman, but strong enough to keep me grounded. I am looking for someone who I can respect. In order to be submissive, I must respect him. I cannot be submissive to a man who is not taking care of his business. I have no problem being submissive….he just has to be worthy. God made woman to be a helpmate for man. I can’t help a man if he can’t/won’t help himself. When she finished her spiel, she looked at him. He sat there with a puzzled look on his face. He said, “You are asking a lot. She replied,“I’m worth a lot.”http://www.bizpreneur.com/zanira

Check your Online Image

bannera.jpg

As many of us are online merchants of goods and services and may not have regular face to face contact with our clients it is important for us to present an online image that is personable and approachable. I have visited many websites where I cannot get a sense of who the vendor is. There are no pictures, no “about me/us” profiles and sometimes the vendors offer only an email address or a number where they can be reached. I visited a website the other day where they had beautiful scarves and children’s attire from Kenya and Ghana, but I could not locate any information about the vendor besides an address, a number and an email address. I could not get a sense of with whom I was dealing and thus was reluctant to whip out my credit card and make a purchase, even though the prices were great! Some may say, ‘well you don’t know who owns Target or Walmart, so….’. Well, we’re not Target or WalMart. Actually, on second thought, I do know the face of Walmart – Sam Walton! Remember Dave Thomas, the founder of Wendy’s? I do. How about Colonel Sanders? I remember the KFC commercials when they were Kentucky Fried Chicken and the Colonel had that commercial wearing that ol’ white suit! They put themselves out there as teh face behind the chicken, the burger, or the really inexpensive short set for your child. The point is, who are you to visitors to your website. Are you a jar? A bag? A scarf?I’m going to talk about few of our members here, and I hope they don't mind. I ran upon the Smell Goods Lady, Itiel, a long while back (when I was still mashing my shea buttah with a spoon) before I “met” her on BBWO. And I remembered her…why? Because I remembered her picture with the beautiful, long dreadlocks and I thought, wow, this picture really embodies the whole ‘natural bath and body products”. How appropriate! Erin Anthony is the face (and hair) of Nappturosity. When I think of Nappturosity, I see her artfully braided hair. Now, I’m not saying everyone has to do as Itiel or Erin. But think about it, what is your online presence….what do people feel is the “real you” when they visit your website. Do you have a picture? Do you have an about us/about me page? Are you accessible? The Internet can be an very impersonal place - how do you make yourself stand out?
