Fighting Acne

Fighting AcneAcne is a condition that typically is associated with puberty and does occur frequently during those years but can extend or surface during middle aged years. Acne is caused by the increased production of sebum and as a result of this increase pores become blocked by not only sebum but by dead skin cells. This results in pimples or boils that present themselves not only on the face but also on the chest, back, and upper arm area. The causes of acne are also hormonal related. To cure your acne you've got to balance your hormones. When hormones are out of balance skin oil production goes into overdrive aggravating acne.Common sense ways to treat acne include:• rest, relaxation, fresh air and exercise• Don't squeeze spots• Don't use massage on acne• Avoid oily creams in Acne Treatment, especially those with Saturated Fatty Acids like Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter and Macadamia Oil..• Healthy diet - Fasts and vegetarian diets are cleansing to the body and it’s circulatory and lymphatic systems. These cleansing treatments may well be worth consulting a dietician or holistic practitioner for guidelines as to how to effectively incorporate such treatments with combating Acne. The final verdict is out as to whether the avoidance of such foods as chocolate, cheese, nuts, pork, cream, spices, citrus fruits, coffee, tea, juices, soft drinks, chips/crisps, tomatoes, seafood and dairy products is out but certainly adopting a healthy diet that is rich in vitamins, minerals, and whole foods in addition to plenty of clean water will provide a healthy body better capable of functioning at optimal levels.Tea Tree Oils Properties and EffectsTea tree oil, extracted from leaves of a tree native to Australia, is well known for it's anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties. It is used to for a number of things, In fact it has been proven effective killing acne bacteria when topically applied. And because of that it is often used as a replacement to benzoyl peroxide in many of the "natural" acne treatments. Tea tree oil does kill acne bacteria and it will reduce the symptoms of acne. But it won't cure it.Aloe Vera GelAloe Vera gel is the inner part of the aloe vera plant. It has been used for centuries for burns, to heal damaged skin, and for digestive and intestinal problemsIt has proven to accelerate healing because among other things it has the ideal polysaccharides necessary for the skin to repair. It gives the skin the "building blocks" to repairThe gel-like material found inside the Aloe Vera plant consists of gibberellin and polysaccharides, which stimulate the skin and help with healing infected areas. The ingredients can greatly reduce swelling and inflammation surrounding the blemish. The gel also contains antibiotics, coagulating agents, pain inhibitors, and astringent materials. Aloe Vera Gel stimulates new cell growth, increasing the skin's ability to heal scarred tissues on the face and may be found beneficial in reducing brown spots left from acne scarring as well as the redness left from a healing breakouts.Aloe Vera gel will help soothe, combat, and heal acne but it will not cure it.Lavender Essential OilLavender oil can be used in facial skin care to sooth and clear the redness often associated with acne prone skin, and act to prevent acne breakouts.Clay's Properties and EffectsClay is rich in minerals and active enzymes that both nurture and heal disturbed dermal areas. Clay also has a stimulating component that causes it to stimulate the lymphatic circulation and make the body more efficient at removing waste and delivering nutrients more efficiently.Clay also draws toxins and impurities that lay dormant in the body as well as toxins from the superfluous layer of fat from the skin. Clay also contracts and tones the skin as well as lends to the strengthening of the connective tissues of the body. There are many other herbs, clays, and essential oils that for centuries have been proven useful and beneficial in the treatment of acne. None alone or together are a complete cure but blended together many have provided excellent remedies for many giving them clear and healthy skin.

At Earthen Glow Minerals we have several excellent anti acne cleansing, toning, and serum products. The pinnacle of this lineup is our anti acne kit. This kit when used together as instructed has delivered excellent results for many. Formulated with synergistically effective herbs, essential oils, and other botanicals that have proven effectiveness in combating acne. This kit is where we would suggest anyone looking for a simple but effective regimine in the battle against acne begin. Affordably priced, natural with results usually visible with days.

Earthen Glow Minerals also carries other excellent anti acne products such as our Dual Clay Rhassoul and Moroccan Clay bars. Both Clays are excellent in drawing toxins from the body and are combined with essential oils proven also in the fight against acne. Our Night Time Botanical Treatment is another superstar in the fight against acne. Applied on a freshly cleansed and dried face at night, a light dusting of this blend of many herbs, clays, minerals, and vitamins has shown remarkable results for many not only in fighting acne and scarring, but also has show great effectiveness with men in fighting and healing and soothing razor bumps. Many women with mature skin types have reported that they notice a brightening and tightening of their skin over several weeks use. Not surprising as many of the botanicals, vitamins, and minerals contained in the Night Time Treatment have been hailed for these very results.

How I got Started - My New Blog

As I wrote in a previous post, I've started a new blog that is connected with my store. If you like what you read, you can purchase with PayPal right from the blog.I’ve always taken a holistic approach to life, even before it was cool to be “green”. I hated taking excess medications and never kept a whole bunch of remedies, i.e. antacid tablets, Alka-Seltzer, cough medicine and the like. I felt that these things only treated the symptoms, not the underlying causes of the problem. It also helped that my mother was a nurse with a firm belief in “riding it out” and was aware of the many side effects of medications that doctors sometimes prescribe so freelRead the rest here.CeeCee Woolard

Catching up on things

Hello to all! I know I’ve been MIA for a while – I’ve managed to peek in and read a bit, so I am caught up on what’s going on. I’ve been in the process of switching my website from its initial inception at neosoul.essentials.com to www.sheaproducts.info . I plan on sitting down at the computer with my notebook catching up on my BBC obligations. That being said more change! I finally figured out Zen Cart, so for those who are currently struggling with this open source shopping cart/store design, there is light at the end of the tunnel. (Notice I did not write that I could offer help. I’m still learning, and I don’t want to mess anyone else up!!! LOL) I like the look of my new website – it looks clean and neat. Plus I love my new photo istockphoto. Of course, you’ll have to visit the website at www.sheaproducts.info to see what I’m writing about. I’ve also included a store blog where one can, surprise, also purchase products. I am currently loving WordPress and my boys over at HostGator. My educator site is currently rearing its head and I have started a blog geared toward resources and information about educating our black children. I feel that many parents want to do the right thing by their children, but do not have the resources or information to do so. I will mostly be featuring posts from there on blackmomclub.ning.com, so if you’re interested, head on over there! My first site will stay up and active. I am inviting all members of the BBC to check the links page (both of them) at www.neosoulessentials.com to be sure that I’ve included your link. If I have not, please email your banner to me at Christine@neosoulessentials.com so that you may be included.I hope all of you are well, and I look forward to getting back into the groove of things!

Summer Skin

When summer sun comes out, winter cover-ups come off and, weather you’re ready or not, you have to bare it all. Even the most prim and proper person feels the need to strip when it’s hot out.Bringing Sexy BackCold weather and low humidity can slow down cellular turn over, causing dead skin to build up. If left on the surface, these cells just block product absorption and leave newer emerging cells thirsty for hydration. That’s why the first step to developing summer skin is exfoliation. If the skin on your body can take it, a mechanical exfoliant like Sahala’s Spicy Mango Body Polish will do the trick. However, weather you think you’re sensitive or not, you need to be more cautious with the thinner, more delicate skin on the face. Try Babor’s Mild Peeling with rounded peach pits. It’s more gentle than drug store brands. Chemical exfoliants, like enzymes and acids, are proven to be the most effecitve. Most commonly obtained from papaya or pineapple, enzymes free dead skin cells and reduce inflammation without greatly altering the skin’s pH. If you really want to speed up the process, ask your esthetician for a series of head to toe lactic peels. Often derived from sour milk, this alpha hydroxy acid treatment works by dislodging the glue that holds surface cells together, guaranteeing an all-over-glow.Skin that’s been stripped of it’s protective barrier is more vulnerable to UV rays; so don’t over do it. Protect yourself with a sun block containing zinc and titanium dioxide but stay away from chemical sun screens. They can cause skin to have an un-even texture. Lisa Sickler, West Coast Regional Trainer for Babor Cosmetics, suggests giving sun protection a boost.”Vitamin E is a great anti-oxidant and nori algea helps deflect harmful UV rays away from delicate skin”, Lisa says. And yes, this information is for women of every ethnicity. A little bit of melanin may go a long way towards protecting the deeper layers of skin from aging, but UV rays do penetrate the epidermis. This is what causes those dark blemishes that, over time, become “age spots”.*Another great way to shed your winter coat is a complete body wax. Seasoned spa goers start the summer with a full arm / under arm / full leg /bikini / thong and tummy visit. Once the hair is ripped out of the follicle just stay out of the sun for at least 24 hours and your swimsuit ready for 4 to 6 weeks.Get Your Shine OnSo you’ve awakened hibernating skin and you’re ready to glow. If your skin’s not quite yet flawless, Bobbie Brown’s Creamy Concealer Kit can camouflage blemishes and prevent makeup from running. To mimic the sun’s effect, select a few bronzers from Nars The Multiples collection. Blend up the high planes of the cheeks, over the brow bone and down the bridge of the nose to accent your best features. For a touch more color, using a squirrel bristle brush, sweep gold based iridescent shadows with overtones of pink or kahki across the lower lid to make eyes sparkle. Stila and Shu Uemura are makeup artist’s favorites. Using blush in sheer warm pigments, like Nars’ Gina, makes cheeks pop while allowing healthy skin to shine through. Just apply color to the “apple” only. Then choose any Lorac Lip Polish in a selection of shades to keep lips looking kissable. If you’ve been treating your lashes with Jan Marini’s Age Intervention Eyelash Conditioner which actually improves hair thickness, the only tool you need is Shu Uemura’s famous eyelash curler to complete your sun kissed summer look.*To combat midday shine, I suggest Shiseido’s Prepare line. These non-powdered wax tissues come in varying degrees of absorbency. (available online)*Covering your body in baby oil may look cute, but it actually blocks vital moisture from penetrating the skin and attracts harmful UV rays.Lean BackThe final step in maintaining summer skin is to take it easy. According to Dr. Raakhi Mohan, who incorporates an Ayurvedic approach to wellness in her practice in Long Beach, CA, “true beauty is a reflection of one’s health and sense of inner balance”. Here are Dr. Mohan’s suggestions to help you de-stress and ensure that your skin looks good all summer long.SUGGESTION BENEFITEat lots of berries and leafy greens These foods are high in anti-oxidants and aid eliminationTake a yoga class Promotes relaxation and benefits every organGo for a walk Increases circulation which oxygenates the cellsDrink plenty of water Hydrates and flushes toxinsBIO:Aliesh D. In today's environmentally safe and health conscious world it's hard to escape all of the new research and information available on living a greener life. While it is important to focus on the impact toxins have on our earth, it's equally important to focus on the impact they have on our beauty.Let's face it, "We are what we eat and what we put on our skin", says master herbalist and natural health guru, Ashia P. "Toxic chemicals in our food and body care products are now found in everything from toothpaste to dish washing detergent. The health and beauty industry is not monitored by the government to make sure that they are not producing toxic products for consumer use. Therefore it is important for consumers to be proactive and aware of the dangers that lurk from within!"That's where Mineral Indulgence comes in. Mineral Indulgence is a beauty line that specializes in products that are less chemically based, certified organic, and all around good for our hair, skin, and body! I just ordered a bottle of the Shea & Cocoa Butter Hair Creme and the Honey Avocado Moisturizing Facial Soap. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes!Check out more blogging here!

Affordable "green" body care

Going green has been in the news for quite some time. There are reusable bags for sale in many supermarkets and plastic bags from department stores offer ways to recycle said bag to keep from harming the environment. Bath and body care is going green also – if one takes a look at any shelf in the supermarket or the local discount department store, you will see various skin and body care products labeled “organic” or natural. In the general sense, being having “natural” on the label does not necessarily mean the product is good for your skin – it depends on what other additives are used. Remember, arsenic is natural! However, a body or skin care product created from natural ingredients is much better for your skin and well being than a product with an ingredient list full of unpronounceable words that is longer than your arm.Because I initially created a product for use by my 1 year old daughter, I took great care to use ingredients that were basically safe enough to ingest (excluding of course the fragrance). Neosoul.essentials’ products are 95%-100 % percent natural and do not contain parabens or any other preservatives. Our unfragranced products and those fragranced with essential oils are 100% natural. My purpose for creating neosoul.essentials was to provide those who want to ‘go green’ in bath and body care a healthful and budget conscious alternative to the high priced “natural” products. Everyone deserves to have an alternative to chemical-laden body care products. I use shea butter, cocoa butter, avocado oil, coconut oil, canola oil and virgin coconut oil in my products. As I stated before, our unfragranced products may not taste good, but are safe to ingest! If you have any questions on our products or our ingredients, please feel free to email me at Christine(at)neosoulessentials.com.
