Tips for Managing Goal Setting Worksheets

Creating your short and long-term goals will provide you with a roadmap to success. Keep these tips in mind when creating your goals.

1. Visualize your goal and success of the long-term ultimate goals – plant it firmly in your mind as you begin creation of the actions required.

2. Evaluate and consider your resources, skills, and abilities. Determine where there may be a lack of ability or skills and determine how to compensate for this deficit.

3. Make sure the actions are clear and concise. Break them down into smaller steps for greater success.

4. Use positive words in your actions and steps. Positive-thinking has a powerful impact on our ability to succeed. A “self-fulfilling” prophecy, which means we become what we think we can become, is important to remember when creating a goal setting worksheet.

5. Use affirmative words in action plans. Don’t say “I think I will complete the research by April 15”, or “I want to…..”. Instead, use affirmative statements such as “Complete the market research on potential niche products by April 15.”

6. Create relevant actions that will help you achieve your goals.

7. Monitor your actions and deliverables frequently.

8. Create ticklers or calendar alerts to remind you of pending due dates. Don’t wait until the action is due to evaluate progress.

9. Set reminders on your calendar or email to remind you to accomplish certain actions or steps along the way. It’s impossible to keep track of everything in your head and this can sabotage your efforts if you don’t have an organized plan to manage actions towards goals.

10. Plan the necessary steps towards your ultimate goals and monitor them frequently!

Creating a goal setting worksheet is a tremendous asset to you in your professional goal setting strategy and creating your online or offline business.

It gives you the tools, steps, and actions needed to succeed. Once you have a clearly defined goal setting worksheet with achievable, challenging action steps, you’ll be on your way to entrepreneurial success!

President Obama's State of the Union Address

The New York Times has published President Obama's 2012 State of the Union Address and indexed it according to topic.

The President has emphasised the importance of building an economy that will be robust in the long-term.

Personally, I think this is one of his drawbacks. People today are looking for a quick fix. Nobody wants to plan for the long-term.

Anyway, that's an aside.

He spoke about:

- Supporting small business and entrepreneurs.

- Creating new jobs.

- Developing sustainable energy resources.

Is "equal work for equal pay" really something for people to get so excited about in 2012?

Over the course of two years, my television habits have changed a lot. I found myself craving more and more scripted drama over Reality TV. It seems like it just one show with a ton of spin offs – the Kardashian Clan and their many shows, Housewives of X (pick a location/sport) and so on. Yes I am going to admit that I watch a few and was obsessed with them for a while but after figuring out their formula they got boring. For example I used to be a huge fan of MTV’s The Real World (the 1st reality show) but after a couple of seasons you figure that every cast is going to have at least one minority – whether its race, sexual orientation or religion. Just the right ingredients to stir up fights and lots of drama, then add alcohol to the mix and the main course is ready to serve.

There were a few shows that capture my attention and I am sad that most of them don’t last very long. This past weekend Centric (sister channel to BET) aired a marathon of Daddy Girl’s a spin off of Run’s House, which followed the lives of Vanessa and Angela Simmons (oldest daughters of Rev Run). I liked the show especially when we got to see how they grown their business Pastry from just a sneaker line but to include fashion as well. Why can’t see more reality shows that depict small business and entrepreneurship... [read entire post]

I want to take this time to thank LaShanda Henry & BBWO for allowing me to share P.E.A.S Magazine on such an important forum, it can be a trying test of perserverance when what your doing is not received, I have not experienced this here. Also thanking all who have supported and shared the magazine/organization's mission, we couldn't do this without you.

"What About Us?” is a film about the abduction of two little girls, one the daughter  of a superstar athlete and the other the daughter of a middle-class business man.  One of these families is provided with unlimited resources and support, while the other family struggles to be heard.  Will they simply accept societies criteria of whose child is worthy of attention or will they take matters into their own hands?

"What About Us"  (Deatra L. Harris) Writer & Director http://www.whataboutus-themovie.com  has partnered with Peas In Their Pods, www.peasintheirpods.com helping to raise awareness when it comes to our missing children. We are so excited and grateful for this partnership, and the opportunity to help as many families as possible.

Please visit "What About Us" for continued updates of movie release.

6 Success Habits of a Business Blogger

Entrepreneurs and small business owners who are creating their brand online, know that blogging for business is in fact, serious business. There are a number of things that set a business blogger apart from the average blogger, with one recognizable difference being that the business blogger’s BLOG, is a business of its own.

Here are 6 Success Habits of a Business Blogger

They have a plan and they know how to execute it. Serious business bloggers don’t do things at random or on the whim, blogging is a fundamental part of their business strategy and recognized as a highly effective marketing tool.

Therefore, nothing about blogging for them can be just thrown up on a blog and calling it a day for the sake of publishing content. Prior to production, the business blogger has created a plan of action, one that has a purpose behind the content and actionable steps to push the content out, along with a goal.

Business bloggers have a solid strategy. To go along with the plan and purpose of their blog, the business blogger has designed a strategy, that brings the two components together. They have a clear process and system for every aspect of the blog.

Content is created to match a deeper marketing strategy that attracts and leads the reader, to a specific conversion. They abide by a strategic structure that brings a consumer effortlessly, through each step of the system and ultimately to the desired destination.

They are forward thinkers. The average blogger thinks about today’s post or maybe even tomorrow, but the business blogger is thinking much further ahead. They take time chart the expected course of growth over an extended period of time, based on specific goals and topic focus.

Business bloggers understand that long term relationship development, far out weighs a one time promotional sale or immediate spike of traffic generation.

Value quality over quantity. One of the highest priorities for a business blogger is to establish a credible brand for their business and in order to do that, the content they deliver must meet their greatest expectations of quality. After all, their reputation is on the line.

Quality, informative and educational content is what inspires and motivates readers to share what they’ve read with their networks which benefits the business blogger by leveraging their promotional efforts. Delivering quality is a win-win for everyone.

Their goal is to educate readers. Most bloggers write to share their thoughts or opinions about a particular topic or subject of interest. Though a business blogger does the same, they add an additional element – education.

Any blogger can share their opinion but blogging for your business entails a deeper level of understanding surrounding your brand, in relation to your market. It is one thing to share knowledge, but taking it up a notch and educating consumers helps the business blogger stand out as an authority in their industry.

Tracks results and makes adjustments. An important part of being a business blogger is knowing what is working and what is not. Being aware of how traffic flows to the blog, what keywords are generating leads and what content is better at conversion is all a part of operating a business blog.

The business blogger is a calculated risk taker and has the tenacity to achieve their desired results even if it means learning how to monitor metrics and track and tweak, until it is right.

For the serious online small business owner, blogging is an intricate part of building a viable and profitable business online. Discover how you can become a business blogger and start building a credible brand and social influence.

The winter months can be so unkind to your skin--wrecking havoc by turning hydrated skin into parched skin.  With the dry, cold air outside beating at your skin, with the cranked up heat indoors pulling moisture out of your skin, there seems to be no rescue for your epidermis.  Lost cause?  Absolutely not.  You just have to make a few adjustments to your winter bath & body care routine:

Step 1: Use a gentle grime fighter that won't strip your skin of its natural, protective oils, and that will also add to the conditioning of your skin.  This is the base for healthy, natural, glowing skin.

Organic Love Body WashA pure, organic vegetable castile body wash! Lather up in thick organic goodness of sunflower oil, coconut oil, palm kernel oil, and glycerin! Organic Love is enriched with African Black Soap and Green Leaf Papaya to eat up those dead skin cells! Organic Love's saponified oils delivers instant hydrated skin, non-drying!

Green Tea Medley Bubbles100% vegetable bubble bath/cleanser. Specifically developed to deliver light, long lasting bubbles for those long tub soaks. Still formulated to cleanse the skin gently, and effectively, while also protecting the skin's pH mantle and natural oils.

gtm+bubbles.jpg

Step 2: No more than 3 times a week, your skin should receive some TLC with a scrub/polish.  Exfoliating eliminates dead skin sitting on the surface, removes impurities from the pores,  and leaves behind smooth, soft skin.

Almond Whipped Cream ScrubA whippy body wash with exotic sugar, almonds, and Sweet Almond oil to boot. Pick up your favorite sponge or puff and cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize, and fragrance your body!

Cream Popsicle Layered Sugar ScrubA delicious yet wholesome scrub right in your shower/bath. Two layers of fine grain sugar (pure cane and dark brown sugar);both infused with orange butter (this will only enhance the succulent aroma), pure humectants, and natural oils rich in antioxidants;topped off with Madagascar vanilla.

Sweet Raw Sugar Honey PolishSweet Raw Sugar Honey Polish is a skin delicious blend of large, sparkling, golden crystals, six pure plant oils, and honey to boot.

cream+popsicle.jpg

Step 3: Contribute to your healthy glow by adding an oil treatment to your bath & body routine.  Topping the epidermis off with wholesome oils (emollient) is the best way to seal in moisture.

MarinadeA dry-oil emollient, that is great for those on-the-go days. Seal in the moisture after showering, by spritzing on this Shea Butter oil blend.

Rub Down A luxurious, multi-purpose oil. Rub Down's wild crafted, herbal infusion in plant oils makes it a great oil for massage, hair, and daily emollient.

Pure Body BalmA luxurious way to seal moisture into your skin and hair. A super emollient that delivers skin therapy to dehydrated skin, and brings relief to itchy skin.

From the Widow of A Soldier...

A Poem By Randa Manning-Johnson

Left Behind in disbelief and in a state of confusion.

This couldn't be happening.  It's just all an illusion.

We just talked, exchanged emails, you were coming home soon.

Never imagined in a box, draped with a flag, under the cover of the moon.

Can't help but wonder if you suffered...was it quick?  I hope you felt no pain.

While still trying to hold it together, in hopes of not going insane.

The kids still need me, so it's required that we go on.

But there's no way to erase the pain of a loved one that has passed on.

Now living second to second, when before day by day.

Trying to smile through the tears in a room filled with grey.

But I can take pride in the memories that seventeen years can bring,

And Thank God for the Gift of You, our Children and the Honor of wearing Your Ring.

It's been tough adjusting to a New Life for which I had no plans.

But I can honestly say that with God, I am in good hands.

The kids are doing well, God protects them that way.

But for me it's a little different...This was a huge price to pay.

Although this could be considered a horrible situation.

I can easily find the good because of my Biblical Foundation.

And one thing I can Always hold Dear to My Heart,

Is The Fact that "WE DID IT BOO....TIL DEATH DO US PART"

Dedicated to my husband Stacy O. Johnson, First Class Petty Officer USN, who died during his final deployment to the middle East.  Ten days after his birthday and two months before his scheduled return home.

I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU MR. JOHNSON
