Is your mindset holding you back?

Don’t know?

I’m going to share 3 mindsets to avoid.

1) I’m not good enough.
I’ve been there and have seen all too many times women who are always

Getting better and this is not simply personal development it’s continued activities based on the comparison with others. You should
always avoid this self doubt. It is draining and will sabotage any
endeavor of empowering success. So shake the mindset of “I’m not good
enough.”

2) It’s too late for me. Sure things may not have happened the way you want them to happen, however, as long as you have breath in your body there’s hope. Take inventory of why things are not working. Don’t
be a victim of time. There are many who started in there latter years
and actually realized more in their latter years than their earlier
years. Spend your time discovering new ideals, strategies and
resources. Determine who it is you are here to serve. Develop an
appropriate brand and make sure you have an online visibility plan.

3) Who am I to charge that? Okay this is where I had an incredible shift in my life and business. I kept hearing the limiting belief or
you could say negative chatter and it included “Who am I to charge
that?” If you have determined who you serve, a solution to their
problem and can help them get results, you had better charge for that.
Don’t look at it as what hourly rate you can charge but rather what are
the results that you help them achieve? What’s it worth to them? If you
can provide solutions and help them manifest the desired results, you’re the person for the job. Besides it’s not a money thing
with everyone. Charge too little and they may start doubting the
effectiveness of your program, product or service.

I have shared 3 mindsets to avoid. There are many more that you want to stay clear of. There are also mindset shifts that need to be made and this comes as you master your mindset.

I’ll be sharing this during my upcoming live event in Sacramento, CA Click here to learn more ,as well as The Women’s Empowerment and Mindset Breakthrough Online Boost Camp click here to learn more.

If you’re tired of being stuck, not getting results and reinventing the wheel
be sure to connect via one of these opportunities.

Having the right mindset is crucial to your Authentically Brilliant Life and Business Empowerment. Empowerment is a choice. Make the choice for maximum empowerment today!

Marketing Strategy Mentality: Do You Have It?

Marketing Strategy Mentality: Do You Have It?
--David Eissman, founder of Guaranteed Growth Systems

Most small business owners and independent professionals start their business primarily because they have knowledge and skills that are in demand. While they understand intellectually that they have to market and sell, often it does not translate on an emotional level. Many business owners tend to look at marketing as a necessary evil, and in many cases, have negative beliefs toward it. They could not stand to be hounded by those pesky salesman in their previous jobs and do not want to “become on of them.” As a result, the tendency is to focus on the aspects of our business that were the reason we chose to go into business in the first place, the actual application of our knowledge or skills.

What is a marketing mentality and how is it developed? There are three components that all link together.

1.) The first component is belief. What are the underlying beliefs that affect our mentality? It encompasses our attitudes, thoughts, fears, expectations, and lack of experience. Our actions are shaped by what we think about, what we assume to be true and where we choose to focus. If the thoughts are negative or avoidance minded then we will see marketing as undesirable and in some cases unethical. It will manifest in self talk such as: I don't deserve referrals, my marketing won't work anyway; I will look desperate; if my service or product is good the market will know that; I don't like networking; etc.

2.) The second component is behavior which is generally driven by our beliefs. The decisions we make every day are critical and negative beliefs about marketing affect the decisions that are made. For example, how often do we plan for the week and tell ourselves that on Tuesday we will focus three hours on marketing. Tuesday morning rolls along and we receive a client call or an issue or problem with an employee and then rationalize that the marketing must be put off because these issues must be dealt with immediately. The question is how often this is really true. In my experience working with clients the answer is rarely. Although we know that the marketing is important, we let our negative beliefs affect our behavior. Before we know it the pipeline is dry, and then some type of marketing activity is undertaken in an unplanned haphazard manner.

3.) The third component is relationship. In order to have consistent lead generation and sales there must be a relationship cultivated with an adequate amount of prospects. This is the main function of marketing. It is the adage of people to do business with those they know, like and trust. Without a consistent and systematic marketing plan, there will not be a sufficient lead generation process.

The linkage is very powerful. The beliefs affect the behaviors and the behaviors affect the ability to develop the relationships. The connectivity between these elements is extremely leveraged in both a positive and negative direction. When they are aligned, the results are extraordinary, and when they are not, the results can be devastating.

So, if you are in this quandary, what can be done about it? First, sit down and make a list, and inventory what your beliefs are about marketing. Be honest and list as many as you can. Then ask yourself about whether these beliefs are really true, or just simply a personal bias. Second, are you absolutely sure what you believe is true, or is it possible that it is not? Next, evaluate how this belief affects your behavior and what would happen if this belief is changed. Try to reconstruct the thought to a more positive mindset. The next step is to translate those new thoughts into new behaviors. One of the best techniques for doing so is to block out time on your calendar and treat it as if it were an appointment with your best client. You surely would not miss an appointment with your best client to deal with a task that was short of an emergency, would you? After a short time, these new behaviors will become habits and the rewards will follow.

If marketing is a struggle, it is absolutely critical to engage in this marketing mentality process. Many companies with great services and products go out of business because they could not implement a consistent lead generation system. Most often that failure starts with the lack of a marketing mentality. The great news is that the necessary mentality can be developed with effort, focus, and an open mind. You will be amazed by the impact on your business.

Pushing One-to-One Marketing Beyond Email

Pushing One-to-One Marketing Beyond Email
By R. J. Talyor, product-marketing manager, ExactTarget

You get it. Email needs to be relevant, timely, and personalized, and it has to arrive in the inbox—not the spam folder. When an email renders, it should load images perfectly, guide the eye through stunning, effective design that drives subscribers to convert—download, purchase, whatever.

But effective one-to-one marketing is more than just email.

Don't get me wrong: Email is critical. If we've learned anything in the last decade, it's that email drives commerce and influences people, and it's a linchpin in marketing programs. In no way am I belittling the power of the email channel.

But as marketers, it's critical to build from—and with—email to create new, multichannel campaigns to engage today's subscribers. Here's why (and this is probably obvious): Your subscribers and customers aren't always staring at their email inboxes. Rather, they're also posting, texting, watching, commenting, and they step away from the computer sometimes, too. But we don't have (legal) methods to track them out there in the world... yet.

Enter digital one-to-one marketing. It can mean a lot of things, but for the purposes of this article, let's assume that digital one-to-one marketing means crafting an experience for an individual subscriber across multiple channels that guides them to a desired action.

If it's done correctly, a subscriber might not even realize that the experience was crafted by a marketer. When it's done correctly, the marketer is some sort of digital Hermes (the Greek messenger god who guided the dead to the underworld in addition to inventing the lyre; seems like the whole way to the underworld might have been a romp!).

In place of the lyre, you have a host of marketing channels as your instruments. Offline and online, you can create campaigns that include not only email but also text messaging, social networking, video, print, outdoor... and so on.

Like a marketer returning inspired from an industry event or conference, you should at this point of the article be exclaiming: Yes! I'm ready to go start taking one-to-one beyond email! Good! Here's how:

Step 1: Start Small
Email is proven. Channels like text messaging, voice messaging, RSS, social networking have not been explored, optimized, or tested in the same ways as email marketing. By starting with a simple mobile-originated text campaign that somehow links to your email campaign, you can gauge your customers' interest in communicating via that channel.

For example, you could ask that subscribers text their email address to a short code and receive a welcome email or email coupon as a response. If you don't want to start with text, consider social networking or using a Web experience that subscribers can find when they click through from an email campaign.

Take time—make time—to try a small campaign, gauge results. I bet you'll be hooked and want to keep trying new ideas.

Step 2: Strategize
After you've tried out a small one-to-one campaign that includes more than an email, consider how you might take it to the next step. Ensure that you have a goal in mind and measurements in place to review effectiveness.

For example, you might ask subscribers to click from an email to a personalized, dynamic Web site/URL that populates with offers or content specific to their interests. Or click from a social-networking call-to-action to a Web form that, when completed, triggers an email or voice message to them.

When you extend your data and personalization beyond email, your subscribers see something that appeals to them not only in one channel but across multiple. Yes, it takes some additional time to map out the experience, but the results are worth it.

Strategize on how you can leverage current data across multiple channels, then put it in action.

Step 3: Measure
Measurement seems to be the most obvious instruction, but it is also the most overlooked. Email marketers are now used to comparing open rates and clickthrough rates as measures, but expanding a program across multiple channels requires a more comprehensive look at the conversion funnel.

Remember that not all channels support the same measurement—for example, text messages don't offer an open, and in most cases a click, as metrics. Ultimately, you should be most concerned about conversions—did that one-to-one campaign result in the desired action?

One-to-one marketing is about (and you've heard this before) delivering the right message to the right subscribers at the right time—and through subscriber's preferred channel. Email isn't always that channel, but it is a piece in the puzzle. Push forward with that small one-to-one campaign that links up one or more additional messaging channels.

Keep the email campaign, but push out from the pack and add in other marketing channels to leverage your data and deliver on the promise of one-to-one. Go for it. You'll be surprised at the results.

I Want to Start My First Social Network

Today I came across a Start a Network Discussion question on my social network Black Business Women Online. One of the members asked:
I want to start my own social book club site. I have my own Ning site and I need some helpful pointers regarding content, promotion, marketing and sales to get the ball rolling...
My response: Quick Tips:
  • Write at least 3 - 5 forum discussions to get the ball rolling: They can be of value (ie you sharing information or questions).
  • Invite people you feel either are interested in that type of network or would bring value to the space.
  • Find some great youtube videos on your network topic to add good content fast without having to create it.
  • Recommend websites or articles you think your members should read.
  • Start a discussion asking members to share their sites (folks like shameless self promotion and good conversation)
  • Start small similar groups on bigger networks like BBWO to attract members and then invite them to your space.
  • Create a Facebook fanpage for your network.

What keeps you up at night?

Do you struggle with limiting beliefs?

Are you influenced by the thoughts of others about who you are and find that when you start trying to play a bigger game as a womanentrepreneur or make endeavors towards women’s empowerment you shrinkdown to make them feel comfortable?

Maybe you’re experiencing overwhelm and that your life is out of control leaving no time for the things that matter most. Or you workhard to have clients and customers but it seems that it’s not working.

Could you be in your own way and don’t even know it?

Take inventory of how you may be getting in your own way.
How do you do this? One thing that is very important to any endeavor
towards women’s empowerment, personal development etc. is to begin with you.

Take inventory of where you are. Assessments are key in this process.
One is a self discovery assessment. You discover more about yourself and
may uncover self sabotaging behaviors that you weren’t aware of. It is nota negative process, however, it helps you to also discover theuniqueness of you. Doing this assists you in developing a plan for bestpractices to achieve what it is you desire. It also assists inuncovering the blocks.

2. Acknowledge the truth.
You may have already arrived at the a fore-mentioned , however, maybe your challenge is that you are indenial. You cannot correct or change what you don’t acknowledge. Youcannot change what you tolerate.

3. Move past the pain of your past. One area that I’m passionate about is helping women to get unstuck. How long have you been feelinglike you have? How long have you followed the same system with noresults? How long have you been struggling to become confident? Thepain of your past will imprison you.

You wonder why you tend to reach an impasse when trying to reach your goals. There are many reasons for this, however, one is movingpast the pain of your past. Of course there are issues that need to beaddressed and you seek closure, however, do not pitch a tent there.Work through it and move on. In this area it is also critical that youdon’t take on the victim mentality. Everything that comes out of yourmouth is how they did you. You don’t understand. I can’t do thisbecause I’m still hurt because. If you’re going to realize trueprosperity “Spirit, Soul and Body” you’ve got to move on!!!

I’ll go over this in the upcoming Empowerment Gathering live here in Sacramento, CA.

I’ve given you three things you need to do to start the process of getting out of your own way.

S.E.A will post a scholarship list for minority students each day. If you are a high school senior, junior, or an transferring college student, these scholarships are for you. FREE MONEY! We all know through life there is nothing Free, you have to apply to receive this money. Your cost is time. The time it takes to fill out the scholarship application.. Look for the S.E.A. blog each day, highlighting a new scholarship listing 2010 / 2011.

What Does It Take to Get a Scholarship?

Because there are millions of scholarships available, you’re almost guaranteed to fit eligibility requirements. We have hundreds of scholarships worth millions of dollars that are available to just about anyone. Many students assume that they have to be brilliant, or athletically talented, or gifted musically, to earn a scholarship for college. What they don’t realize is that sometimes they just need to be *persistent!

Be persistent in getting good grades. Many colleges award scholarships to students with significant financial need in the accepted applicant group — a grant that you don’t need to repay, just for making the cut and getting admitted!

Good grades won’t hurt if you hope to get a scholarship even if your family doesn’t demonstrate financial need. When scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit, without regard for need, students who have worked hard and achieved results in high school will be the winners.

You should also be persistent in seeking out other scholarship sources. Sometimes all it takes to get a scholarship is to find out who in your area is offering them: your church, your employer, your parents’ employers, local civic organizations. You’ll just need to fill out any required applications or interviews on time in order to be considered. http://edu.theapple.com

If you're anything like me, you probably compare yourself to others sometimes; and for me, this is especially true when it comes to other entrepreneurs.

Amy Dubois Barnett, author of "Get Yours: How to Have Everything You Ever Dreamed of and More," has this to say about making comparisons (this applies to guys as well, by the way):

"What she's got, that's nice for her. But you, girlfriend, are unparalleled. Your life and your path are your own. Learn from others' successes and failures, but do you."
For the most part, this quote encourages me when I feel down. It also helps me remember that I should think about my assests and what I have to offer instead of concerning myself with what others are doing.

How do you stop this habit?

  • Become aware of what you're doing. Comparing is usually done without you even really thinking about it. The solution? Watch out for those thoughts. If you're on the lookout for them for a few days, they'll be easier to recognize, and soon, it will be hard not to notice them.
  • Stop. When you see that you're comparing, take a moment, and realize what you're doing. Don't criticize yourself or feel bad-- simply recognize the thought and gently alter your concentration.
  • Recognize your blessings. You'll be much better off if you focus on the things you already have-- shelter and food, the people in your life and the fact that you're still breathing!
  • Focus on your skills and talents. That doesn't mean boast and brag, but you should feel good about them and use them to your best advantage.
  • Be okay with imperfection. Realize you aren't perfect, and you never will be. Of course, you should always strive for excellence, but don't think you'll be the "perfect person." Your flaws make you you so you're already perfect.
  • Don't belittle others. At times, we criticize other people to make ourselves feel and look better. Doing this, however, is damaging, and in the end, it hurts you, too. How about encouraging someone instead?
  • Concentrate on your journey. Regardless of what society thinks and portrays, life isn't a competition-- it's a journey, and you should only be concerned with yours.
  • Embrace having enough. By wanting what the Jones's have, you won't see that you have everything you need. Realize that even if you only have the basics and people who love you, you are blessed.

If you’re looking to drive traffic to your website and establish yourself as a go-to person in your field, I’ve got the answer for you: article marketing. Article marketing is a low-cost (or free, in most cases) yet highly efficient way to grow your business online.

Article marketing isn’t as simple as throwing together a few thoughts and sticking your so-called article on your website. No, there’s much more to it than that. Before you start to panic, take a deep breath - I’m going to tell you the basics to help you get started. In fact, by the time you’re done with this article, you’ll have everything you need to start driving more traffic to your website today.

First, let me assure you that you don’t have to be the world’s best writer to succeed with article marketing. On the contrary, what you really need is a few good ideas, knowledge of your target market’s needs, and a sincere desire to help them find answers. Oh, and a good spell checker or editor to catch the little typos that will annoy your readers and, quite possibly, make them lose the credibility you’ve worked so hard to build up.

But enough talk; let’s get started already!

1) Pick a topic
Your first step in article marketing is to pick a topic. It needs to fit into your business goals (in other words, don’t write about gardening if you’re a dentist who’s trying to use article marketing to grow your dental business).

Think about the problems you solve for your clients and start talking about the steps you take to solve them. You may lose a few do-it-yourselfers who will take your tips and run, but most readers will be touched by your helpfulness and, when they give up on doing it themselves and decide to outsource the work, who do you think they’ll turn to?

2) Choose relevant keywords
Once you have the topic picked for your first article, you need to choose the keywords that will get the most attention from your target market.

If you put all of your time and effort into an article about “widgets” but most of your readers use the word “gadgets” in their searches, you’re missing out on some prime opportunities.

How do you know which keywords to choose? Just use a keyword popularity tool (look it up in Google and you’ll find a few free options).

3) Start writing already!
Here are a few tips to help you get started with your article marketing campaign.

a) Don’t worry about the title at this point - that’s best left for the end, when your article is polished and ready to submit.

b) Keep it short and sweet. Your readers have a lot of competing demands for their time, so you need to grab their attention with short sentences and paragraphs.

c) Use subheadings as much as possible. Most readers skim articles looking for specific information, so help keep them reading by offering sub-headings to pique their interest.

d) Use lists - numbered or bullet points. Another method to help readers get the most from your article marketing efforts.

e) Use your keywords! Try to use your keywords as much as possible without going overboard (if every other word is “widgets,” you’ve gone too far). Try to use the keywords at least once in the introduction, again in the conclusion and a couple of times within each paragraph - again, without overdoing it.

f) Put some thought into the title. You can go bold with an attention-grabbing title (Is Your TV Making You Fat?) or a tips list (Top 10 Ways Your TV is making you fat).

g) Proofread, proofread, proofread! Look over your work with a fine-tooth comb or, better yet, ask a friend, trusted colleague, or professional editor to check it for you. As stated above, you don’t want to lose credibility.

4) Publish your article
a) Once your article is polished to your liking, you’ll want to publish it on your site. After all, the search engines love fresh content!

b) Your next step in your article marketing campaign is to submit your article to article directories. You can find various free and paid versions online…just do a search for article directories.

And there you go! Now that you know the basics to help you get started with your article marketing campaign, you can get started sending more traffic to your website and generating more hot prospects who will be interested in learning how your products and services can help make their lives easier.

( ACT )

The Act (American College Testing Assessment) assess a student's knowledge in English, Math, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences. The test is administered by the American College Testing Program and it consists of four tests 35-40 minutes long.

Specifically, the American College Test was created to test college bound students cumulative knowledge in four different subjects: English, Mathematics, Reading and Science Reasoning. This multiple choice based test, which is usually administered in the south, is known for testing a student’s ability to recall formulas and fundamentals from the aforementioned subjects as well as a student’s ability to solve graphs. Students are graded on a scale of one (lowest) to thirty-six (highest) in each of these four categories. The four sub-scores recorded from these four respective topics are then averaged together for a composite score that is looked at upon universities for various purposes such as acceptance, scholarship qualification and then eventually class placement. This assessment does not penalize students for having incorrect answers as only correct answers affect the scoring. According to Mary Beth Marklein of USA Today, the national composite test score average in 2004 was 20.9, as a record number of test takers (1.2 million) were recorded. She also reported that in 2004, students tested higher in the reading section of the assessment (21.3), despite rants that the allotted time for this portion of the test is too short. The lower composite test scores throughout the years have created many jobs in preparing for the ACT. Test centers have been developed nationwide, and companies such as *Kaplan offer strategies to taking the ACT along with practice tests (which are actual ACT tests administered throughout the years). According to the ACT official website, the test is given on six dates a year, at hundreds of locations, and students can take the test as many times as they desire, as the highest score is the only looked at determining acceptance. The traditional format of the ACT will now feature a writing assessment starting in October 2005 that tests students abilities to write a short essay.

American College Testing Assessment

Are you Delivered from People?

When I say delivered from people I mean:

* released from what they say about you
* not affected by how they feel about you
* not living to please them

Simple words, but hard to do for some.

Why do we care what others say about us?

As my daughter would say,”they are not paying my bills.” As if a 6 yrold has bills. But she adopted that surge of confidence from herfather. I admire my husband in so many ways and this is one.

Are You at Risk of Losing Your Business?

I am happy to announce that my company is being featured in INC. magazine in the article about "Are you at Risk of losing your Business".
All too often I receive phone calls from frantic business owners who have a once trusted employee or freelancer threatening to leave the company or behaving in a way that indicates something is very wrong. Yet the business owner is fearful about parting ways for a number of reasons, including the fear of competing against a once green part timer for future business. The solopreneur has trusted said “employee”, taught he or she everything about the business, and, oh-oh, Sally is no longer happy being paid an hourly wage and threatens to go out on her own. What valuable contacts, resources and information might Sally be taking with her?Applicant pre screening is one way you can find out who a person is, before they become a part of your team. Ask yourself what does e-mail lists, business information, customer contact lists, employee records and financial information all suddenly have in common? Answer: They are the Top 5 things stolen by freelancer, bookkeepers, even employees after leaving a job or when the job is completed.

A QUEST TO ATTEND A HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGE / UNIVERSITY (S.E.A. MENTORING PROGRAM)

You Can Do It!

by: Naomi Hulme

YOU can do it! You CAN DO it! You can do IT!

We make our (dreams 1.) come true or not. It is all up to each of us to make those things happen that we wish for and want. Whatever your "it" is, whether a dream or passion or goal, you really "can do" it if you want it bad enough and work at it hard enough. Ignore the "can't(s)" (can not) that you hear in your own mind and from others.

We have so many choices each day. Think back a year ago of (missed opportunities 2.) that either you weren't financially or professionally or emotionally ready for. What if you had planned ahead and were ready for any and all opportunities that came your way. Imagine how and what you would be doing. Now think back five years ago and come forward. There were probably some opportunities that you were able to jump on and make use of in that time.

(What other opportunities do you see that either you or your family missed? 3.)

p.s. Family is an important link in our everyday decisions.

No matter where you are today, you can choose
today going forward to have a great, optimistic, positive attitude about every area of your life. You CAN accomplish anything you set out to do. Sometimes we have to get creative to get through the (stumbling blocks 4.).

Start planning now to watch for any positive opportunities that God puts in your path.

According to David McNally
, in his book, “Even Eagles Need a Push“, he stated,

"Those who learn to soar have the courage to take a positive attitude toward life. They understand that life offers many surprises but believe that within those surprises are lessons - and that from the lessons comes because it is a decision not to be defeated no matter what challenges life presents."

(wisdom 5.) . (A positive attitude requires courage 6.)

"Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing." Abraham Lincoln

"A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes."
Hugh Downs

Jeffrey Gitomer's, “Little Gold Book of Yes!” Attitude says, "A large part of attitude achievement is the visualization. It's easier to visualize
YES! than it is to visualize positive. When something great happens, no one screams, "Positive!" Everyone screams, "YES!" That's the difference. That's the YES! factor."

Each day, do one thing that helps you get where you want to be. Mix that one thing in your schedule no matter how busy you are. At the end of one year, you will have stretched and grown personally and professionally in so many ways. You will then start to add new directions to your original dream. Just imagine how much more purpose you will have in your life. Go for it!

Course directions for achieving your goals:

(Questions from S.E.A Mentoring Program)

1.dreams. Write down your goals or dreams. Now you can visualize these goals or dreams.

2.missed opportunities. Think back to your freshmen year and write down all your missed opportunities.

3. What other opportunities do you see that either you or your family missed? Write down the miss opportunities, your choices are important and so is family involvement in your choice of college or university.

4. stumbling blocks. Write down any stumbling blocks or obstacles that you may have.

5. wisdom. What is wisdom? How do you obtain wisdom?

6. A positive attitude requires courage. Can you explain this statement? How will you use this statement in your four year college education quest?

7. Personally and professionally, growth is what you expect to achieve in your education quest at a H.B.C.U.
