Traditional Soap vs. Glycerin Soap

Remember when they use to say “wash your mouth out with soap.” Did anyone ever stop to think that washing someone’s mouth out with soap would be harmful to them? Traditional soap (a regular bar of soap, ie Dove, Dial and Irish Spring) have been around for along time; it contains harsh chemicals that are dangerous. These chemicals include: DEA, Isopropyl Alcohol, BHT and Triclosan (commonly found in anti-bacteria soap). When using traditional soap for a long period of time it can cause the skin to itch, to become dry and produce a rash. Now, who would want “that” (traditional soap) in their mouths.

Have you ever took a bath or shower, dried off and didn’t apply any lotions? Due to you having to rush out the door for school/work and a hour later looked down and see your legs have ashed (dry flakes of skin on your legs). Unlike traditional soap, glycerin soaphas ingredients in it to helps to moisturize the skin as well has help pre-existing skin condition to calm the skin down. Glycerin is a eco-friendly soap it can be used and is used in many different things in shampoo‘s, conditioners and lotions. (It’s water soluble and alcohol soluble; but soap isn‘t biodegradible). It’s also environmentally safe because it dissolves. Traditional soap does dissolve but after it does it leaves harmful bacteria in your water, which goes back into the environment.

Traditional soap is the oldest cleaner known to man. Glycerin is produced during saponification but is extracted from traditional soap. Glycerin which is a humectants that absorbs moisture from the air and binds the moisture to your skin. With daily use glycerin soap will make your skin soft and smooth. It’s sensitive, so it can be used on both children and adults.

College Scholarships: Athletic Scholarship Application Checklist

Want to play college ball, and get a college scholarship for doing it? There are a number of requirements you must first fulfill, and a number of things you can do to ensure that you're on a prospective school's radar. Follow these steps to improve your chances of snagging athletic university scholarships.

Contact the school formally
Once you have made a list of the schools you're interested in, get the names of the head coaches and write to them. When you do, include:

· A factual resume of your athletic and academic accomplishments

· 10-to-15 minutes of video highlights (with your jersey number noted)

· Letters of recommendation from your high school and off-season coaches

· Your season schedule

Ace the interview
When you meet with a recruiter or coach, be sure to offer a firm handshake and maintain eye contact. According to recruiters, the most effective attitude is quiet confidence, respect, sincerity, and enthusiasm. These are qualities they'll want to see on the court and on the field.

Ask good questions
Don't think that you should refrain from asking questions. Not only will you impress the recruiter -- you’ll get the information you need to make the right decisions about your athletic and academic future. Such questions might include:

· Do I qualify athletically and academically?

· If I were recruited, what would the parameters of the college scholarships be?

· For what position am I being considered?

· What level of interest do you have in me?

Follow up
Timing is everything. There are four times when a follow-up letter from you or your coach can be extremely effective in procuring student scholarships:

· Prior to the senior season

· During or just after the senior season

· Just prior to or after announced signing dates (conference-affiliated or national association)

· Late summer, in case undergraduate scholarships offered to other athletes have been withdrawn or declined

Just like in sports, success with college scholarships is about persistence. Give it your all, and there’s a good chance it will pay off.

Eligibility Requirements: Applicant must be American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, Black (non-Hispanic), or Hispanic and enrolled or expecting to enroll full-time at a four-year institution or university. Available to U.S. and non-U.S. citizens.

Application Requirements: application, essay, resume, references, video or audio tape of work, statement explaining career in Electronic Journalism.

Deadline: May 7.

2. For cards that already have a message inside, highlight the phrases that you want to stand out or hold special meaning. This is a great way to signify how the card personally applies to the receiver.
   
3. Include your own words, something simple, such as, “I am not always great with words, but when I read this card, I thought of you.” The most personal cards are honest and heartfelt.
   
4. Add a small gift inside. If your card is for a holiday or occasion, you can include a gift card to their favorite store to make the card a gift in itself.
5. For business owners, send a series of greeting cards to make your message part of an ongoing conversation.
