At the start of each New Year many people make resolutions that by the middle of the year, sometimes sooner, are all but forgotten. So how do you make good on the momentum you have on that fresh start that the New Year brings? I recommend that my clients take different approach this year, which is to try setting just one or two major goals and put all your energy and resources into achieving those goals. Trying to fix everything in life all at once and is just not doable.

I'm including a Plan A Goal Development and Action Planning Worksheet below which you may use to help you achieve your 2011 goals. This is a tool I am also putting. This way my clients will know that I've 'gotten a taste my own medicine' and it works.

How will I know that I am improving? What is my feedback plan?

What obstacles might get in the way of my progress? What can I do to diminish them?

What strengths do I currently have that will help me reach this goal?

What support do I need? From whom might I need support, partnership, coaching, mentoring, or advocacy?

What resources do I need to be successful (financing, technical support, etc.)?

What will success look and feel like?

Manage:
· Work with team members to develop scopes of work
· Develop and oversee project budgets
· Work with program manager to obtain project financing and prepare on-going reporting
 
Delegate:
· Delegate tasks to appropriate team members
· Strategize and implement solutions relating to project, budget, management, etc.
· Develop and maintain communication pipeline with key people (President, program manager, board and members of the team)

I often hear the question, "how do I develop a personal brand statement?" and my answer stays the same most of the time. A strong personal brand statement can be one of the best tools you can have and certainly one of the most critical ones for your branding and marketing toolkit, whether you are a business owner, or a professional working for someone else.

• When and how you will use it - e.g. interview for a job? networking situation? speech?
• Who you're talking to - e.g. language needs to meet the needs of the audience; the message is the same, but the approach should be adaptable

1. Who you are - let the recipient of the statement know your identity, your name
2. What you do - the core service or opportunity you provide
3. Who you do it for - your target audience and/or ideal client you work with
4. How you do it - your style, your unique approach, what distinguishes you

Marketing is so important for small businesses. Whether you realize it or not it is something that you have to do constantly to get and keep your name in the public eye. A local marketing guru here loved my bookmarks and labeled them unique.  He stated his first question to a business owner is, What is your budget for marketing?" If they can't give him a fiqure, even if its only $25.00 a month, he ends the meeting. He stated, You have to make a commitment to consistently do something". According to him if there is no commitment to consistently market your business, then you are just spinning your wheels.

The bookmark below is my primary offline marketing tool. The current version includes a 10% off code "Bookmark" for both my sell sites.  My reasoning is that people will hold on to it longer. I'd like to hear from you if you think this is effective? Should the design be changed? Do I need my picture included?

My BIG dream is to be a model and I will strive towards that until I reach success. I started off in the absolutely wrong direction by taking up an offer from Model Productions, a model search agency, that were promoting their search throughout the malls. This will be Tip One: Mall model searched are most likely scams. I was young and about 13 and begged my mother to pay the $250 for the CD and the registration for some convention where all the "top model agencies" were going to be. This includes Tip Two: Don't pay for ANYTHING... and I mean ANYTHING! It just makes sense that if an agency was really legit and REALLY wanted to work with you, they would NOT ask for money, because well... they really shouldn't need it. At the most, the only somewhat "OK" payment is a registration fee, but that is still pushing it!

Okay, so after realizing that all of these model agencies and schools that make everything sound OH SO GOOD on the radio and their "interviews" (which hundreds of people come to and not even get a chance to get "interviewed") was all... excuse me... BULL!, I decided that maybe craigslist was a good choice to find opportunities. Wrong! Tip Three: Don't use craigslist! It is full of scams and people who are very unprofessional just looking for money; about 90% of these people probably do not care about your dreams for being an actress or model. Let me tell you... I went to a 'meeting' for the selected models for a photo shoot with the Atlanta Falcons bird mascot... tell me why this so called "mascot" was an very old lady dressed in a red and black home made costume that looked like she was a Broadway performer with a Vegas theme with all those darn feathers. It was a mess ! I could tell many stories from scams ALL from Craigslist. 

But let me tell you guys something that DID work. Keeping my faith not only in myself that I would someday live my dream, I always kept my faith in God. And well, I fasted for 3 days by giving up just one item that I love the most... chewing gum.LOL It sounds simple and its probably funny to you, but I chew gum so much... I may even chew it in my sleep. Its just something that I HAVE to have. and I'm telling you... day one from the fast.. I got a call from my friend about a agency having an open call and (long story short) , I went and they sent me the contract in the mail and I am now a signed talent ! : ) They never once asked me for a dime and they instantly started sending me auditions and model/acting training courses! I felt the need to tell this story because ONE... models and actresses really become serious and determined and its so hard to not fall for these scams because we really really want it. And I would have never thought I'd get signed that day! 

God bless to all aspiring models and actresses reading this and please keep these tips in mind because you don't want someone to take advantage of you and your will to reach success. Trust me.... I have been through it all. And even if modeling/ acting is not your goal.... try your faith in the lord anyways and see what happens! : )

As we all know real estate leasing is HOTTER than ever. What are the predictions for commercial and residential leasing for 2011? Rents will continue to increase in prime markets and remain steady in areas where there are more vacancies. 

Commercial Office Leasing:
Office Leasing activity will remain strong in 2011, especially as entrepreneurs, small businesses and companies begin to grow and expand their employment levels. The vacancy rate for office space will decline in the range of 1 to 1.5 percent and virtual office services will increase tremendously.

Residential Leasing:
The demographic trends are changing from longtime renters buying to longtime home owners renting. It's all about choice!
