In this day and age when the world is changing, technology is advancing, and years have passed by in a blink of an eye, Black women may wonder about the future and how it will directly impact them. Today’s Black women are beginning to realize that change in the world, and they want a positive piece of it. From the test of time, many women are learning what it takes to be successful and get ahead.Living in a world where you are constantly reminded that you are the minority of the minority, sooner or later you start to catch on and grab that piece of success. That success can involve anything from earning a living to raising a family. However, along the way you may begin to doubt yourself, you may even wonder about your self-worth, and at the end of the day, you want reassurance just to stay in the game.Tip #1:When your mind is stuck in the past, you are in fact a prisoner of your past, resisting the key to free yourself into a new direction for your future. The past is gone. Sometimes you have to let it go. Black women love very hard. They feel as though they have to. It is their core source of strength. It is also a quality they fully accept from others. Whatever has happened in your life, you have to embrace the good and let go of the negativity, but always look ahead as optimistic as you can.Tip #2:Whatever your constant focus is on, is what will move you closer to happiness or deeper into dissatisfaction.Focus on your strengths and refuse to accept being Black and a woman as a weakness. Train your mind to believe you are self-confident and capable, and soon your actions will follow pursuit.Tip #3:When you start to understand and believe the depth of your worth, then NO ONE can fool you into thinking what your worth is as a Black woman. The media has a funny way of interjecting what is beauty and what is not; what is popular and what is thrown out. Don’t believe the hype! There are some who seem to have it all on the outside, but are hurting badly inside. Realize that your inner happiness means more than any outer material possession or physical trait. Love you, and the world has no choice but to acknowledge it and accept it.Tip #4:If something isn’t working then change your approach. Knowledge is everything. Along with knowledge and persistence, you will make better choices.Believe it or not, you might be surprised that you don’t know yourself as well as you might think. Live life, get a life, experience something new, and be open to change in your life.Tip #5:Life just isn’t long enough to settle. The strength to change your situation is already inside you, you just have to realize and find it.Black women settle far more than they have to. They may want a change, but their actions tell a different story.Realize you don’t have to settle. In some cases, it’s just demeaning to your self-worth. Recognize your strengths, work on improving your weaknesses, and always recognize the love that lives in the core of your soul.Tip #6:When you think others are holding you back, it’s your own way of thinking that’s holding many Black women back. Many people resort to excuses – constant excuses. If you want something, go after it. Don’t allow insecurities or excuses to get in the way for too long, and stop your journey through life. More so, don’t for one second think you can’t accomplish your goals because of another human being.Tip #7:The quality of the relationship you have with yourself determines how many fears you have, and more importantly how you handle your fears. You may have never thought of what type of relationship you have with yourself, but you should. You are going to be with yourself for the rest of your life. You might as well get to know yourself as much as you can. Always look for ways to enhance your growth – whether that growth is spiritual, emotional, relating to your career, family or health.BIO:Tinisha Nicole Johnson is an author, writer, and poet. NETWORKING FOR INTERDEPENDENCE

- NETWORKING FOR INTERDEPENDENCE -By: Lyndsey ShafferStephen Covey's "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" teaches us that interdependence is the level of growth we must achieve to allow us to be, create or attain greatness we may not otherwise achieve independently. To combine the talents of a few to reach an outcome that may be greater than that of an individual is truly a lesson that should be carried into business networking.Very few professionals network for interdependence. Instead, they network for leads and sales. When you approach business networking with such a short sighted goal, the results yielded are sure to be just as shallow. This brings about a host of problems such as fighting for customer retention and the constant need to resort to overly aggressive sales tactics. We must network for interdependence, not leads.Click here http://www.onyxsix.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=83:networking-for-interdependence&catid=26:work-a-life&Itemid=13 to read more.- SIGN UP FOR THE ONYX SIX NEWSLETTER -Sign up for our free newsletter to receive information on upcoming events, business advice and special offers from Onyx Six click here http://oi.vresp.com/?fid=ef70831112 to opt in.

You are better than that.

Did you know that you are a wonderful work of art, created by God? Did you know that all His works are excellent? Know that you are special, blessed and loved. God created us “fearfully and wonderfully…” His word tells us so. And do you know what that means? That means that you are good enough just the way you are. That’s not to say that we should become complacent and not strive to become the best person we can be. In order to give our best we must be our best. It’s that simple. We are children of the most high, our daddy owns everything. He is King of Kings. We can have, be and do anything that we desire. He told us so. Jesus said that He came so that we may have life and have it more abundantly. Optimal health and wealth, prosperity; it’s all ours for the asking and for the taking. Just sayYes! Say Yes to God, He will lead you, He will guide you. He will put joy back in your heart, love back in your soul. Deliver you from sadness, depression, low self esteem; you can have that great life.He is calling us higher and wants us to do a good work. And we can. As mothers, we sometimes place ourselves on the back burner. We stop dreaming, we sometimes stop living with passion and drive, we stop being the women that God wants us to be. We place all our energy on our families, and none on ourselves. We give them our best, or so we think, and don’t give ourselves the best. We can’t afford to do that any longer. Our children and our families need us to dream, to live on purpose. They need us to be healthy, wealthy and wise. If we are denying ourselves the simple necessities, then we aren’t healthy. After having my children I completely took myself out of the picture. I stopped living my life. I lost myself. I became sad, and depressed. I stopped caring for myself. I didn’t do my hair, I stopped exercising and eating healthy, as a result I gained about 50 lbs. My business was suffering to the point where I had no clients anymore. Now I was even more depressed and my self esteem hit rock bottom. I hit rock bottom.Everyone noticed it, I noticed it, but I didn’t do anything about it until I took a hard look at my children and their innocent faces. My son, who will be 4 in a week, he would notice the sadness on my face and he would often asks me “Mommy are you ok? It’s going to be alright.” That broke my heart. I didn’t want him or my 2 year old daughter to take on the burden of feeling that they had to take care of mommy. I saw how selfish I was being by not giving them the best mommy they deserved. I am my daughter’s example of what a woman is. I am the example of the type of woman my son will someday marry. I didn’t like the woman I was and had become. Drastic measure needed to be done. I was not being the type of woman that God created me to be. I am fearfully and wonderfully made, what is wrong with me? That’s when my transformation back to life began. As women we have strength, we have power, everything we need is within each and every one of us. We don’t have to beat ourselves up any more. We are ok. The sooner we start believing that this is true, the quicker we can start enjoying our lives. It’s not selfish to love ourselves. It’s not selfish to put ourselves first. It is however to very selfish to not share the best of who we are to those who need us the most. Our children will benefit and thrive at having a mom that is balanced mentally, physically and spiritually. They’ll see and feel the difference in the way we talk and the way we walk. They’ll be happier and you’ll glow at the smiles that will be on their face when they see that you are living a joyful life. They in turn will live a joyful life. We’ll notice how each day will seem just a little bit brighter, in spite of what we may be going through. We are wonderful creations of God, we were made in His image. Let’s step forward and walk in our excellence everyday.I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14 NIVLove yourself. Live well. Be empowered.Daphne (CEO/Founder Eshe…)Your Sistah in Spirit!www.eshe.soulpurpose.nethttps://daphneporter.youngevityonline.com/

According the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease (primarily heart disease and stroke), cancer, and diabetes are among the most common, costly, and preventable of all health problems. They are considered preventable because they are tied to our lifestyle choices. Choices that we have the power to control. Each waking day our lives are filled with messages that cause us to think about and encourage us to live healthier. We see them on T.V., hear them on the radio, read them in the newspaper or our favorite magazines – they even pop up while we’re surfing the Internet. And there’s a reason why these messages are so prevalent. It’s because our neighborhoods, our communities, our cities, our states and our nation are saturated with disease and illness that have our healthcare system in a financial bind. The CDC states that the medical care costs of people with chronic diseases account for more than 75% of the nation’s $2 trillion medical care costs. The bottom is, we all have the power of choice and it’s our responsibility to implement it not only for ourselves, but for those in our lives, to include the neighborhoods, communities, states and nation that our unhealthy lifestyles will impact. So, how are you going to respond to these messages? You see them. You hear them. They’re everywhere. Hopefully, you’ll respond by implementing change in your life. For months during President Obama’s campaign trail, we heard a message that resonated throughout this country. ‘Yes we can!’ It was a statement of possibility, a statement of hope, a statement that caused us all to believe. Well, that statement doesn’t have to end with President Obama’s campaign trail. You can make it your own by saying ‘Yes I can!’ You can even add to it and say, ‘Yes, I can change and make better choices!’Our leaders are working on legislation to help families make ends meet, as well as to address not only our economy and other issues, but our healthcare crisis. With all of the changes that are underway, though, it’s critical that we do our part. And we can start with our health and fitness.Just think about the following comment I recently heard from a lady. ‘I never made the connection of my lifestyle habits and the healthcare crisis until recently. Now, I think about my father who recently had a massive heart attack that costs somebody – Medicare, insurance company, etc. – over $150,000. I think about the costs associated with my debilitating arthritis which primarily stems from my excess body weight. I think about my cousin’s stroke that caused paralysis on her left side. I think more and more about how our unhealthy lifestyle habits were contributing factors that led to our health predicaments.’Take the time to figure out how you’re going to respond to the messages you’re seeing and hearing. Yes, you can change! This health and fitness dialogue is provided for your consideration only. It is not intended to replace the medical advice of your doctor or health care provider. Please consult your health care provider for advice about your specific health and fitness needs.Fitness coach Bridgette Collins is the author of Destined to Live Healthier and Imagine Living Healthier. what are you passionate about

i think we should be living and doing things that we are passionate aboutWhat Are You Passionate About?By: Elliott Robertsin todayís fast-paced world, it is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We commitourselves to our responsibilities, obligations, and expectations, but we often do so at the expense of our dreams, aspirations, and goals. Our society and our lives are demanding, leaving us with little time and energy to focus on what may seem like selfish or even childish dreams. However, without fulfilling those inner desires we end up loosing an important part of ourselves. There are several self-help articles about how to make one happier and more fulfilled. But it all starts with realizing your true passion. What motivates you? What makes you smile? Or even, when you were a child what did you want to be when you grew up?In order to find happiness, we all need to look deep into ourselves and find the things that make us who we really are. Those things that make us smile and whistle when no one else seems to be feeling our happiness. These are the things that need to be the center of our worlds, these are the passions that need to fuel our lives. As we grow up and grow older, we often take the more traveled road to adulthood. We attend college and achieve degree status in order to obtain a ìrealî job. This conformation to societal ideals about living often leave the passions that once gave us fire and hope dead in the water. Women give up their dreams to raise children, men leave the their true callings behind for fear of not being what their families would hope they would become. When we leave our passions behind, who are we really becoming and is that person the true person we always wanted to be?Rediscovering your passion may actually be harder than you think it should be. After lying stale in our minds for so long, those small things that once drove us often become alien in nature and need to be rekindled and reworked in order to find a place in our every day lives. The best path is to revert to your youth. Think back to what things made you most happy. Remember the passions that made you smile and the hobbies that once held such a high importance in your life and make room for those passions again.Once you discover your passion, pursue it! For some, it may be scary to step outside of the norm and onto a path less traveled. But personal growth only happens when we extend ourselves beyond our usual boundaries. You donít have to neglect your responsibilities to pursue your passion. It may simply be to take an art class at a local community center or you may find that you wish to switch careers and become a graphic designer. Determine what you are passionate about and then find ways to embrace it.There is no amount of money in the world that can measure up to the payment your passion can provide. While the payment may not increase your checkbook or give you that promotion at work, it will give you back a sense of yourself that has been lost for a very long time.Do not let another moment pass you by before you take the time to think, what am I passionate about? What unfulfilled dreams do I still have and how can I achieve them? Take this moment to sit back and remember what makes you smile. When you take away all the expectations and obligations, who are you? Find your true self and be your true self. Pursue your passion with passion.Article Source: http://www.home-based-profits.com

Subscribe Today!5 Ways to Recession-Proof Your Life Through Your Actions and AttitudeThis article is dedicated to the winner within YOU.Main Principle Mindset: Everyday that we Wake, ...we WIN!Given this wonderful and awesome feeling, it is up to each one of us to maintain this uplifting positive attitude that, in turn, direct us through our daily journey within this beautiful universe. Oftentimes, our words and self-talk serve as the root of our thoughts which in turns impacts our actions, those actions that cause us to maintain the winning attitude or, allow others and/or situations to take it away.Unconsciously we sabotage our own efforts to maintain the Win everyday. (Yes!...WE allow this to happen) This can be corrected immediately by making a conscious choice to keep failure at bay and to maintain that Winning Attitude regarding both our personal and professional interactions and goals.Failure is not fatal but it can be avoided when you take the necessary steps to ensure your success. Here are a few pitfalls to navigate around.1. Have a plan - Winging it doesn’t always work. In fact, if you are serious about your goals, winging it is never a good idea. Map out a strategy for getting your goals met. Now, just because you write it down doesn’t mean it is set in stone. Plans change but without one, you never really know where you are going or will end up.2. Set deadlines that you can meet - The point of setting a goal is to achieve it. The goal itself might not be easy but it can be realized if you break it down into steps. Unrealistic timelines introduce the possibility of failure into the equation. Let’s say that you want to learn to swim. Giving the goal three weeks is not going to cut it. In fact, when the deadline comes and you still can’t swim, you might just give up.3. Choose your goals for yourself - Sometimes we pursue certain goals because of someone else. It is their desire to speak French or climb a mountain but we take it on for whatever reason. If the desire to achieve is not there, neither will be the success. Lack of a motive for your goals will stop the train every time.4. Don’t do it alone - No man or woman is an island. You interact with people each day. If you are having trouble achieving a goal, ask for help in the way of support. It is hard to reach the finish line when no one is cheering for you. Find the support and resources you need for success and use them.5. Face your fears - As weird as it sounds, there is a fear of success that is going around. If you achieve this one goal, everyone will expect bigger and better things. Even if that’s not true it is the mindset of someone who fears failure. Instead of concentrating on the goal at hand, they worry about future goals that are still floating in the ether. When fear strikes, tell yourself that you will only think of the current goal and not a future that is not reality.Have you met with failure and disappointment in the past when it comes to achieving your goals? Look at the above list and see if any one of these points derailed your goals. If so, deal with the problem and get back on track.Your Life, Your Goals, Your Desires, Your Dreams...then it's Your Responsibility! A person or situation (i.e. recession) CAN NOT define you....WITHOUT Your Permission.
