How to Avoid Broke Coach Mistake #1

As a web coach I have clients from various industries and many of them just happen to be coaches themselves. One of the main reasons they coaches come to me is because their struggling to attract clients online. Most of them already have a website by the time they get to me, which is good. BUT they're tearing their hair out, trying to figure out, "Why the website isn't bringing in business?" Out of that frustration I discovered: Broke Coach Mistake #1 Where most coaches go wrong is that they direct traffic to a generic coaching page with a big picture of themselves, biography, and prices. Before even establishing a connection with the prospect they take them to a page that screams, “Hey read all about me and what I do and while you’re here, buy my services too. By the way, I don’t really care what your problem is, but if you buy my book I’ll show you how to fix it.” The average coaching website is usually all about the coach as a way to showcase that coach as an experienced professional, but the space you send your prospects to needs to be all about them, not you. That is the kind of poor presentation that leaves most coaches broke and very disappointed with their online presence. The quickest way to fix that mistake is to take your potential clients to a space online that's all about them. A space where you show that you know the questions they want to ask. A space that you already have the answers they are looking for. Let me give you a visual of how this works... in real estate, brokers always tell the sellers to empty the house as much as they can because buyers can not envision themselves living in a space full of your STUFF. The same concept applies to coaching. Am I telling you to completely change your website? No, not at all. I'm actually suggesting that you create another kind of web space that better represents your clients and provides an opportunity for them to build a relationship with you. Creating the right website for coaching clients, attracting clients and avoiding mistakes is exactly what I discuss in my eBook: How to Really Make Money Coaching Online. Without spending a TON of money on advertising or even investing in professional glam shots, I continue to maintain successful coaching programs online by focusing on what my potential clients REALLY want and giving them exactly what they need. If you don't do anything else, I want you to answer one question. Are you a coach, with a great website, a wealth of knowledge, and so much to give, but you have no clients? Don't make the #1 Broke Coach Mistake. Learn from someone with experience in both coaching and marketing online businesses. Click here to download my eBook. Here is a special $10 Off discount code for taking the time to read this article. The Code: EB10OFF. This offer expires on 12/29/2009 or after being used by 250 people (which ever one comes first).

One of the members on BBWO, my social network for Black Business Women, recently asked me the question, “How can I make money with no money?” money-computerIf she was looking to start a business, the answer to that question would be pretty hard, because it’s almost impossible to start a business without spending any money. But it is actually possible to make money online without starting a business. I’ve got, what I like to call my 3 AM System for making extra cash online. I call it my 3 AM System because it’s all about:
  1. Affiliate Marketing Make Money Promoting Affiliate Products
  2. Article Marketing Make Money Writing Articles
  3. Adsense Money Making Money Generating Google Adsense Revenue
I mainly make money online doing the three things I love; web design, web coaching, and selling eBooks. If you know me, it’s easy to see that I’m a worker bee at heart, but even I like the idea of making easy money by tapping into passive income streams. Passive income is basically that nice and quiet income that you get every single month, for doing very little and sometimes for doing nothing at all. Though it does take time and skill to get passive income opportunities off the ground, they work effortlessly for you over time. Here are a few examples of how I make extra money online.
  1. I get anywhere between $700 - $1200 in Google Adsense Revenue each month
  2. I get multiple affiliate checks every month ranging from $100 to $500
In the last few years I’ve learned how to bring in thousands of dollars of extra income from these little, non-technical projects that add up and balance out my existing income as a web designer, author, and coach. Because my social network is SO BIG, I often get folks begging me to join MLM and Network Marketing opportunities but I don’t mainly because my 3 AM System allows me to generate income without having to spend money or buy into any business opportunity. Moreover, because I already have my main income streams, I view this stuff as extra income and everybody could use an extra couple of $100+ checks for whatever. Truth be told, you could really make thousands of dollars just doing one of these things, which really just requires picking one specific craft and perfecting it. Personally speaking, being a Jackie of many web trades, combining my smaller checks into nice bundles of extra money is perfect enough for me. If you want to make money online the easy way, these are your options and you can easily learn more about them. Do Google searches on “Affiliate Marketing”, “Article Marketing” and “Google Adsense Revenue”. There is a ton of information online. Not all of it is great (which sucks) but you can definitely learn this stuff for free. You also have the option of learning it from me. I enjoy teaching this stuff to others, which is why I created my private blog Easy Profit Projects (www.easyprofitprojects.com ). It’s a space online that’s strictly for ambitious beginners interested in making easy extra money online. The EPP blog is where:
  • I tell you specifically what affiliate products I promote For one of my affiliates I get $40 for every person that signs up to their offer
  • I tell you how to make money writing online I write for profit in so many ways and I’ll tell you the easiest ways to get started. I recently discovered a NEW WAY to make money writing online that I would love to share with you.
  • I also tell you the different types of Profit Projects You can Tap Into On EPP you can download and read my eBook, The easiest Way to Make Your First $1000 Online
Just so we are very clear on this, I can’t guarantee fast cash or big riches. I’m a work at home mom (work being the key word here - lol) who makes a nice living doing what I do and earning extra income on the side. I honestly don’t know if my 3 AM System will work for you, but I know it works for me and the other folks making good money online. SO... on EPP I’ll show you how I and many others make money by promoting other people’s stuff and sharing information. Official Website: Easy Profit Projects: www.easyprofitprojects.com

"Small Business, It's Time to Think BIG"

I'm amazed when I ask small business owners if they accept credit cards from their customers and some say “no”. These business owners tell me that they cannot afford to pay for a merchant account because they don’t make enough sales or simply that they are not ready. I ask them, ready for what? Many times, they just don’t have an answer. I believe it’s because they are trying to figure out if they are actually in business to do business. As any business owner knows, there can be risks in running a business. What is your underlying fear in taking a risk & propelling your business to the next level? In business, the goal is to make a profit. You can’t make a profit if you don’t make sales. One way to boost your sales is to offer your customers flexibility in paying for their purchases. Accepting credit cards from your customers offers you another avenue for generating sales and building your business. A merchant account should be a part of your basic business “toolkit”. And don’t forget that your merchant account fees are considered a business expense (the cost in doing business).Credit cards are a dominant form of payment, next to cash, for products & services even during slow economic times. Research shows that customers will spend an average of 30% more on purchases when using credit cards. What would a 30% increase in sales volume do for your business? It is time for the small business owner to think BIG! Think purposely and expansively about how you will effectively grow your business. Despite the current economic conditions, there are many opportunities for the small business owner to advance his/her business in the marketplace. But it will take action and enlarging your vision to see that you are able to afford a merchant account. By not having a merchant account, you are simply driving your customers to your competitors that do offer this service. There are many options in the marketplace for the business owner to select in setting up their new merchant account. You want to select the company that provides you with personalized service, attractive rates and knows your business needs and your budget. At Pay Bizness, we specialize in setting up merchant accounts for small businesses in all types of industries. Top Ten Tasks to Outsource

In order to be successful, you have to master the art of delegation. No one makes it to the top alone because success is the result of a team effort. Again, I am not trying to talk anyone out of attempting to tackle difficult tasks, but you have to know your limitations. The faster you recognize your capabilities the closer you are to achieving success. Why did you go into business? You need to consider outsourcing the following tasks if these were not mentioned in your answer:Research: If you are like most small business owners you went into business because you wanted to follow your gut instinct. There is nothing wrong with wanting to follow your passion, but your gut instinct can only carry you so far! You can have the greatest idea in the world but if you don’t have the facts and figures to support it, you will not be able to persuade others to invest or purchase your product or service. This is why research is so important. You can’t be successful without determining needs that are not being met in the marketplace, knowing your competitors, etc. There are two types of research: Everyday Research and Market Research.* Everyday Research: This is what I consider to be basic research. You are typically using the internet to find the answers to basic information on a subject, company etc. using popular keywords (i.e. marketing).* Market Research: This type of research is a lot more in depth and will enable you to receive information such as demographics, psychographics (aka behavior information), statistical data based upon qualitative and quantitative data about your target market. Why waste time trying to figure it out yourself when you could give it to someone who knows what they are doing?Website Design: You only get once chance to make a first impression. Statistics indicate people form their opinion of a person within the first thirty seconds of meeting them. Therefore, increase your chances of making a memorable introduction with a website that reflects your personality, is welcoming and easy to navigate. I learned this lesson the hard way and am in the process of trying to remedy my mistake. Get someone else to do it and call it a day!Blogging: Blogs are an amazing way to connect with potential customers and clients. If you are not convinced, take a look at this study HubSpot conducted (they are one of my favorite company blogs). Subscribing to the old if you build it they will come mentality is setting yourself up for failure. Producing quality content is the only way to attract and retain readers. The downside of blogs is that they do require a lot of time and effort to maintain (I discuss this in further detail in the interview I did with POV) and if you do not have the ability to devote time to ensuring your blog will pass the quality test—delegate it to someone else.Article marketing: If you are looking for a way to establish yourself as an expert in your industry, you might want to consider article marketing. Articles drive traffic to your website (this applies to blogs too). You are probably wondering,” Shouldn’t I be the one writing the articles?” The answer to that question is yes and no. If you have time you can and should write the articles. However, when you go to submit your articles to various directories, you need to alter them so you have different variations of them floating around online. Do you have time do this for every article you write? If not, then you should consider getting assistance with altering the article(s) or avoid this situation altogether and hire a ghostwriter.Social Networking: This is one of the most cost effective forms of marketing. The only currency required comes in the form of conversation. You must be willing to communicate on the turf of your target market. There are numerous sites such as Twitter, Facebook, etc. and industry forums (i.e Virtual Assistant Forums). Social networking is ideal because it will increase your brand recognition. Having profiles on numerous sites can increase your organization’s exposure. Now if you are tempted to start signing up for various social networking sites and forums—stop! Quality will always trump quantity when it comes to social networking. It is better to be on one social networking site and actively engaging with others than to have profiles on several and not participate in the community. You can connect faster if you have help.Email Marketing: If you truly want to reinforce your message you should be conducting email marketing campaigns (it should go without saying that you better have the owner’s permission). It is extremely effective because it enables you to personally deliver your message to your prospects and customers. Sending an email is not difficult but getting someone to feel like they have to read your email is another story. People are inundated with emails. What are you doing to make sure that your email stands out from the crowd? Are your subject lines catchy? Is your template design pleasing to the eye? What value will this person receive from your email? If you cannot write copy that will catch the attention of others, chances are no one will feel compelled to read your email.Presentation preparation: You would be hard pressed to find someone who has not sat through a boring presentation. If you do not want to put people to sleep with your PowerPoint Presentation, hand it someone who will ensure that it will be concise and creative.Online Videos: People love putting a face to a name. Allow your customers the opportunity to learn more about you by creating a video. Share information that will be of value to your customers. People buy from those they trust so create a video that reflects your company’s culture. A video can be a powerful marketing tool. I urge you to think twice about attempting to do this yourself because you really don’t want your company video to be one of the videos people laugh at—especially if it’s not meant to be funny.Phone/Email Support: Who doesn’t want every email or phone call to be prospect ready to conduct business with you? However, not every call or email is going to be a client or prospect or even need to be answered right away. Why waste time sifting through phone calls and emails when you could be out closing deals?Bookkeeping/Accounting: This should be one of the most obvious tasks to outsource. You need to make sure that your records are in order. This can be hard for a business owner to do because your busy trying to run your business. In addition, there are a lot of credits available to small business owners that would be missed by someone who is not familiar with tax laws. So if you want to take advantage of all the credits available to you, maintaining good records will keep the IRS off your case. You may feel like you have to carry the burden of the aforementioned tasks alone, but this does not have to be the case. There are a variety of options small business owners can take advantage of in order to fulfill these tasks such as hiring a Virtual Assistant, bartering, etc. If the task is something you foresee yourself encountering on a daily basis, you might want to consider taking a workshop or webinar on the subject. However, if you choose to take a class, remember to weigh the opportunity cost of doing so. The time you take in learning a task totally unrelated to your business decreases your ability to start or expand your company. Unless your business involves providing the aforementioned tasks, you are unnecessarily taking on responsibilities that can easily be eliminated via outsourcing. Outsourcing will enable you to focus on the real reasons you went into business. If you enjoy this blog post, consider signing up for our newsletter!

If we're honest withourselves we can find some areas of laziness where itconcerns pursuing our goals, completing tasks, taking timeto show love to our loved ones with a phonecall, letter, card or even a visit. My husband and I have experienced the grief of feelingthe urge to call a loved one and express our love onlyto receive a call one week later that this individual is gone.Pain? Yes! Did we learn anything from that experience. Most definitely, we don't put off calling our loved ones.My question would be why do we put off doing something? Why do we postpone or delay needlessly? You'll find the following asnoted in my ebook The Dynamic Power of Focus1. Fear - I believe we are held captives by our fears of failure, incompletion, anxiety etc.2. Lack of purpose - If we would search for the fullness of ourpurpose in life we would be ignited with a passion for life andpursue avenues to propel us toward our goals.3. Lack of passion - Passion will drive you, energize you andpull you toward success. Passion will move you toward acontinued pursuit of success in live.4. Health challenges - If your health is in a poor state, you will postpone activities that tend to remind you ofexhaustion, pain, discomfort etc. There are a few steps you can take to begin your journeyto overcome procrastination.Prayer - Father God is ready and willing to help you.Ask Him for supernatural wisdom, knowledge and understanding.Re-ignite your passion for your purpose in life.If you don't know your purpose, one simple way is to takeinventory of what you enjoyed as a child. What is it that you woulddo whether you were paid or not. Many times we are influencedby family, friends or society away from certain activities thatwe truly enjoyed.Begin setting short term reachable goals. Don't start with a goalsuch as "I will lose 20 lbs in 30 days". You are settingyourself up for the feeling of failure and incompletion. You want to setyour self up for victories. Start with things you can do daily towork toward reaching your long term goals.Reward yourself for achieving your goals.Spend time daily reading the bible. Prayer and reading your biblewill re-freshen your vision for life. The above are a few steps to set you back on the road to productivitywhich will ultimately result in good success. Do you want to live?Procrastination is stealing lives, ideas, relationships, destiny andthe list goes on.Don't wait till tomorrow. Who knows whether it is promised.(c) Robin G.
