building (54)

With just a few days left until the end of the month, as well as April being Financial Literacy month.   I thought it was very ironic to hear a recent radio advertisement announcing that certain individuals should take part in a great program being given by creditors; it’s called “The Credit Amnesty Program”.  This advertisement was encouraging people who have credit scores as low as 480, to come and apply for INSTANT CREDIT no one is turned down.  Lie!!!!!, this is the biggest gimmick and it’s been around for years it just has a new name, but the financial shackles are the same for individual with bad credit.  Why because the people who buy into these tactics are given interest rates as high as 18% or higher, the debt these individuals accumulate is designed for them not to pay if off which in turn many of these people will default on their debt.  I recently did a webinar regarding “What impacts Your Credit” during this webinar I showed the cost comparison of a credit worthy consumer and an unworthy credit consumer.  Take a look:

Examples of Credit Profiles

Here is an example of the cost of a $20,000 car loan over 5 years:

Prime 680 or higher score - Interest rate 7%, Payment $405, Total Cost after 5 years $24,300

Sub prime 500 - 619 Interest rate 14%, Payment $477, Total Cost after 5 years $28,620

Jilted 500 or below – Interest rate 21%, Payment $557, Total Cost after 5 years $33,420

As you can see in this example there no advantages of being an unworthy credit consumer, you may be able to buy material purchases but the consumer with bad credit pays a big price at the end.  Don’t buy into the hype, educate yourself.

10 Ways to Build Your Business Credit

Let's face it, your personal and business credit is essential to your financial health as a small business owner. It's important to understand this and learn as much as you can about building and maintaining a good credit score for your business.

Having a business credit score of 75 or higher through Dun & Bradstreet is essential and can help you especially when trying to get lines of credit with vendors.  While cash loans, such as an SBA loan, micro loan or personal signature loan will require a review of your personal credit - your business credit score will help also in making a final decision.

Much has changed in the business credit industry today.  It used to be that you didn't need to always use your personal credit history when applying for small business loans or lines of credit, but that's not the case anymore.  You'll need a personal credit score of at least 680 and again, a D&B score of at least 75.  If your personal score is less than 680, it's time to start working on it right away.

Building your business credit is not something that can be done over night, but it is a gradual process that occurs over a period of time.  As your business grows your business credit worthiness should get stronger and stronger.

A good business credit score will assist in getting business loans, lines of credit and minority or woman-owned certified.  Your business credit worthiness is an essential part of growing your business and it also shows your leadership ability as the owner or CEO.

Below are 10 ways you can get started in building your business credit:

   1. Consider changing the structure of your business to a corporation, such as a Limited Liability Corporation better known as the LLC.  This is the most common structure that many small and micro businesses are using.   If you are not certain of the structure for your business make sure you discuss it with your accountant or attorney.

   2. Apply for a business checking account.  This is an essential part of the process in legitimizing your business.  It will be important for you to keep all of your expenses separate.  This is very important to do if you're incorporated especially.  It is also a plus to keep a minimum balance of $2500 in your account at all times.  This helps in establishing your credit worthiness.

   3. Develop your business plan.  Many times when applying for a loan or line of credit you'll be asked for your business plan.  This normally causes a lot of small business owners to procrastinate, because it can cause one to feel overwhelmed just thinking about writing one.  But, it is necessary and remember to get help doing it.  You don't have to write it alone and neither do you have to create a long 100 page document.

   4. Gather your business financials. Most of the time a lender or loan specialist will also ask you for financials.  This will include the Business Checking Statements, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Projection and Tax Statements.  Depending on the number of years you have been in business be prepared to provide up to 3 years of statements.

   5. Apply for your DUNs (a.k.a. D&B) Number.  The DUNS number is a 9-digit number that is used worldwide in tracking more than 100 million businesses.  It helps to build your company's credibility and helps vendors, lending agencies and others to verify that you are running a legitimate business.

   6. Apply for a business phone line that can provide you with a 411 directory listing.  This is normally with your local phone company.  Validating a business phone number is normally the first thing that vendors do to verify that you are indeed a real business.

   7. If you're a home-based business, consider also using a virtual office service that has a commercial address (not a PO Box or UPS Store).  This means that you should be able to receive packages there and anyone should be able to visit the office and ask for you or your company by name.  There are many such services popping up all of the US, so you shouldn't have a problem finding one.

   8. Make sure that any services you use are in the name of your corporation.  This should include: cell phone, office lease, any machine leases, business services etc.

   9. Start applying for business credit with vendors (Staples, Office Depot etc.) that report to business credit agencies, such as Dun & Bradstreet and Experian.  Make a list of items that you need in your business that can be purchased through a line of credit or lease, instead of using cash.  Don't just trust a vendor's word that they report to business credit agencies; ask if they have it in writing in their literature or credit applications.

  10. Only use 35-50% of your business credit cards spending limit. Business creditors get very nervous when you use anything larger from your spending limit and especially when you don't pay it off within 30 days.  This shows that you might be having a cash flow problem and they run from that.

Once you have received your D&B number, consider using the D&B File Creator Service.  This allows you to quickly place business accounts on your file and helps to establish your credit worthiness quicker.  In addition, it will be important to check your business credit profile at least quarterly to ensure that everything is being reported properly and that your score is getting higher.

As you build your business credit, it is also important to understand the importance of paying your accounts payables at least 7-15 days ahead of time.  This goes over well with business creditors and is reported on your Dun & Bradstreet credit report, which helps your score to go higher.

The information points provided above are suggestions based on the success that others have had in building their business credit.  It is not a conclusive list and there are many other things to consider when working on building your company's financial reputation.  However, it's a start in the right direction.

How Important are Autoresponders to Internet Marketing?

What is an autoresponder?

An autoresponder is a computer program that automatically answers e-mail sent to it.
They can be very simple or quite complex.
Wikipedia dictionary

Think about when you sign up for a Teleseminar or free offer, you enter your
name and address or other requested information. Most times you can expect an
automatic email with either a confirm link for double opt in or a welcome.
This would be very tedious if you had to do it manually.

Internet Marketing and autoresponders essentially
go hand-in-hand. You simply cannot be effective or as productive with your
internet marketing without an autoresponder.

Autoresponders are used to achieve many of the marketing tasks
that are essential to a successful business that utilizes online
tools.

Internet marketing can be very time consuming.
Whether you do affiliate marketing or market your own products, an autoresponder is a big part of your
marketing arsenal. Autoresponders are used to keep in contact with your past customers, and to develop
a relationship with potential customers.

Another great use of an autoresponder is to deliver communication to your opt-in customer
list if you have one. It can be very effective in delivering ecourses, to send reminders and even help
build an opt-in list.

There are many creative ways you can use your autoresponder to make more sales and to build customer relations.

Any successful marketer will tell you that there are two tools that are vital to any type of online
marketing an opt-in list and an autoresponder. In fact, most marketers will agree that you could take
away all of their other marketing tools, but they would fight to the death to keep the list and the
autoresponder!

So don’t shy away from the autoresponder simply because you don’t understand how to use it. This is one
thing that is worth learning. If you can, outsource the set up of your autoresponder to get you started
with your listbuilding strategy. Just do whatever you need to do to take advantage of this resource.

I invite you to connect with me if you need support in setting up your autoresponder. I can suggest a
great *autoresponder, go to http://budurl.com/tryautoresponder and you’ll get a free trial when you use
this link. Send an email to info@RobinTramble.com and we can get you set up with a Coaching A la Carte
strategy session
to get you started on utilizing an autoresponder.

How important are Autoresponders to Internet Marketing? Very important.

*I am an affiliate of the suggested Autoresponder, however, I don’t suggest anything that I don’t back up
100%. If you do connect I may receive a small commission.

Excerpt from an article written by Diane Helbig

"AsI was working with a client to develop her social media strategy, she mentioned that she has realized that relationship building is really a business practice. This is someone who was under the misconception that networking is about gathering business cards. She didn’t realize that networking is really about building and maintaining relationships with other business people. As we got her more involved with LinkedIn, she started reconnecting with people she had lost contact with over time–and she was really enjoying the rediscovery. She started to understand the real value that relationships play in business.

That got me thinking about what works and what doesn’t when it comes to networking and building relationships.

Therestill seem to be some misunderstandings about networking. Based on some of the behavior I’ve seen, it appears that many people are still missing the whole idea of relationship building. It doesn’t matter
whether it is social networking or in-person networking. In the business practice of building relationships, there are three deadly sins to avoid:

1. Pitching early
2. Signing someone up without permission
3. Assuming closeness

1. Pitching early:

Thisis when you meet someone at a networking event, exchange cards, and decide that the card exchange gives you permission to give them a sales pitch. This happens all the time. It’s one of the reasons that some people avoid networking events. They either think they are supposed to behave this way and aren’t comfortable in that role, or they dislike the people who do it and don’t want to be around them.

People whopitch early don’t understand the relationship building aspect of networking. They believe that simply participating in the activity is a license to sell. Well, it isn’t. Networking is the opportunity to begin
the relationship building process. Networking gives you the chance to meet people whom you might not otherwise meet.

I submit that thesame is true for “social networking.” Linking in or friending someone online does not mean you have an open invitation to sell to them. Here’s an example of a double whammy – I met a young man at a chamber event. Within a couple of days he sent me a LinkedIn request to connect. I accepted. Now I receive solicitations from him via LinkedIn.

Theproblem? I don’t know him, so I can’t trust him. He doesn’t know what my situation is or what my needs are. He isn’t matching a solution to a problem. He is solely focused on what he wants. If, on the other hand, he had continued the process of relationship building, he would have learned more about me and my situation. He would have waited to sell until he knew there was a need and until he had established trust. As it stands, I’m not even interested in seeing him at the next chamber function. He accomplished the exact opposite of what he wanted–all because he pitched too early.

2. Signing someone up withoutpermission: As far as I’m concerned, this is one of the deadliest networking sins. It is presumptuous and rude. I believe that when you do this you are telegraphing that you are more interested in building your list than in building relationships. How do you know the person needs
what you have to offer? How do you know they want to read what you have to say? Where did you get permission to enter their e-mail inbox on a consistent basis? Remember, the simple exchange of business cards is not a license to behave in any way you choose.

The solution is sovery simple. When you meet someone and engage in a conversation, you will learn things about them. If you discover that they have an interest in or need for the information you provide, ask them if they’d like to be added to your e-mail list and tell them why you think it would be a good idea for them. If they say “yes,” jot a note to yourself on their card. If they say “no,” don’t do it!

Did you notice the steps? They go in order. To take them out of order is to ask for trouble.

3.Assuming closeness: The story I told above about the young man I met at the chamber event also falls under this category. He assumed that we were closer than we were. He assumed that we had a relationship because of our chamber and online connections.

Think about therelationships you have with your friends, significant other, co-workers. Did they happen instantly? At “hello”? They didn’t, did they? They had to be built and nurtured; they had to grow over time.

This is notto say they you didn’t feel some sort of connection with some of these people. That sense of connection is what propels you to want to get to know them better. However, until you know someone better, you really don’t know enough to explore the possibility of conducting business with
each other.

Nothing sends people running from you quicker thanassuming closeness that doesn’t exist. Not only does it send people running, but they will tell others what you did. If you want to destroy your reputation quickly, then by all means, assume closeness. If, on the other hand, you want to grow your business, don’t make assumptions. Rather, grow those relationships first.

Ask yourself: Are you inbusiness for the long haul or for a quick hit? If you answered “for the long haul,” then relationship building is a necessity. Do yourself and your business a favor and take the time to build relationships with the people you meet. Most of these people will become great referral partners for you – not customers. The more referral partners you have, the easier it will be to grow your business. Those people you’ve built relationships with will be the best promoters of you and your business.

Are you using Social Media like Twitter and Facebook to build your list? Are you building a list?

One thing you must be doing if you’re going to realize any level of business empowerment is list building.

One of the most important things in an Internet Marketing business is a list of contacts. It’s important for you to build relationshpswith your customers. Your contacts are called subscribers on your listsand they are the most important asset of your business. List buildingincorporates building relationships. Your prospects are encouraged tovisit your website through your marketing efforts. Hopefully they signup to receive your free offer which should be of value to them and youare given an opportunity to build rapport with them and share thesolutions you have with them.

You notice I said you have the opportunity to share your solutions with them. Unless you have the opportunity to build rapport andincrease the know, like and trust factor you will only share yoursolutions and never have the opportunity of actually add them to yourclient/customer community.

One way to build your list is to use Social Media.

Social media includes Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Myspace and it actually includes blogging. There are many other Social sites, however,my focus at this time is on Twitter and Facebook.

If you don’t have an account on Twitter you can go to www.twitter.com and you’ll see a prompt to register and you’ll need tofollow each one. The one thing you need to keep in mind is that thefirst impression is important having said that you need to have aphoto. If you have a business you might opt for a business logo, however, I would suggest that you have at least one account with yourpersonal name and then add another one. The other important thing is tohave a link to your blog or website. I suggest your blog or if you havea free offer (recommended) have a link on your page to direct them toyour free offer. This will also enhance your list building endeavors. You can only use one email per account.

If you don’t have an account on Facebook go to http://www.facebook.com you’ll see a link to register. Follow theprompts. Same thing with regard to your photo. Don’t post every linkunder the sun on your profile. Be intentional and don’t confuse yourfriends.

You need to know the proper etiquette for each site. Twitter is a fast mover. You can actually tweet all day, however, there is a rulewith regard to the ratio. You want to do more original tweets, followedby retweets and then maybe 20% tweets to your own offers, links etc.

Facebook is a little slower. You don’t want to post updates all day and resist posting links to your business for the majority of yourupdates on your profile wall. Your profile is for personal and there isa facebook fanpage that can be used for business.

Now back to the idea of list building. You need to know what your target market is and your goals for Facebook and/or Twitter. Withoutthis you won’t have any real results.

You’ll want to know your Twitter and Facebook strategy.

Then there are followers and friends. How do you add targeted followers on Facebook/ How do you add targeted friends on facebook?

These are all great questions. I can’t answer everything in this post however, I do want to invite you to request free access to myTele-training “I Rock on Twitter and Facebook and you can too!” Go to http://budurl.com/irocktwitterfacebook and you’ll receive immediate access.

If you want advanced support I invite you to learn more about my “I Rock on Twitter and Facebook Social Media Empowerment Coaching club.”You can go here

This past Friday night, I recorded an audio letter for the current attendees of my upcoming webinar entitled Your Business, Your Taxes, Your Wealth as I wanted to do something different. While the webinar purpose is to show how you can stabilize and even grow your business through effective tax and accounting strategies I realized that what first has to happen is a total mindset "shift" on how we currently think about building wealth. If we don't have a proactive approach to building wealth, non of the strategies will truly work for your business. Below is an excerpt of the actual email blast and transcript of the audio letter I emailed out. This first part first examines the Mindset of wealth vs. money. The rest of the letter explore Wealth in relation to our businesses and is intended to challenge your thoughts and beliefs. I would love for you to listen to it in it's entirety as well! Register for the webinar to receive the entire letter. This webinar is turning to be something very special and I'd love to have your participation!

As always,

Be empowered!

Challenging your current Mindset regarding "WEALTH and Money"

I want to challenge your current idea of Wealth and money by offering that they are not the same thing. Where money is a tool used to exchange servicesor goods or a way we move wealth around, idea of wealth is asintangible as love and hate. It involves our perception of life and in essence the freedom we desireto have within our lives. For many of us that includes possessions thatmake living life easier (a workable car, a nice clean home, ability totravel, good health, healthy children, technology, the internet, ipods, etc) Wealth can take different forms for different people example,Some sections of this country and other countries create entire -microeconomies by living off a barter system. People simply barter wealthwith each other and don’t use money. They live what they perceive astotally wealthy lives and are able to pass that wealth down to theirchildren.

Alone money isn’t valuable. Money is only valuable when it can be attached
tosomething that is perceived to be valuable to the other person. Moneymakes it easy to trade wealth as it creates a even playing field toexchange wealth - If I need surgery, I cannot offer a doctor something Ifind wealthy in exchange for his work, but if I gave him money, thatwas equal in value, he could take that money and exchange it forsomething he finds valuable and wealthy for him (a Bentley perhaps? )Because we can trade wealth by using money we begin to define wealth asbeing able to make as much money as possible.

Why do some businesses succeed and others fail ? How are some of us able to
create $100 mill corporations, and live a life of “wealth” that we pass on to our children. How is that making money is very easy to do but keeping it and using it in a way to build wealth is very difficult for some?

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by all of the talk about Social Media? Are you spending more than 30 minutes max per day on Twitter? Facebook? You don’t have to spend most of your day on these sites. I’ll sharewith you a couple of resources that can assist you in leveraging yourtime.

Some of what I’m going to share can also be applied to other Social Media sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn, however, in this post I willfocus on Twitter.

What is Twitter? Well, where have you been? LOL

Twitter is a great resource to enhance your marketing efforts and will definitely offer
Business Empowerment when you know what you’re doing.

Twitter would have to be one of the fastest growing sites on the web today. It is taking the internet by storm and there are around 10,000new users per day signing up to participate in this internet revolution.

Twitter is best described as a micro blogging platform. You are limited to 140 characters each time you do an update, which initially, may seem a small amount. However, as you become more experienced, it’sjust amazing what you can fit into 140 characters.

That said, Twitter is much, much more than that. It is like one huge global chat room, but then again, it doesn’t have to be. It all dependson how many people you follow on Twitter. If it’s in the thousands, then your “Tweetstream” will be running fast and furious witheverything that’s coming in. If you are only following a few hundred,or even less, then things are much easier to keep up with.

Twitter is also a great way to meet new people online, particularly those with similar interests to you. It’s a great way to be visible andposition yourself as an expert in your field to your target audience orniche.

You can set up an account by going to www.twitter.com you’ll see prompts to guide you through the process. If you need support I dooffer mini coaching packages to help you develop a strategy, get set up,and get targeted followers.

Now here are a couple of resources to help you leverage your time on Twitter.

We are celebrating Independence day in the United States and for Canada
I believe it began July 1.

When thinking about Women's Empowerment I can't help but reflect on
how we have been granted certain freedoms because of the sacrifices of many.

This is a short post, however, a very important point to speak to.

My question to you is "What does Freedom mean to you?"
My answer? Freedom to me is having the ability to do what I want, when Iwant, at the time that I desire and where I want while enjoying
my family and friends. This also includes my Faith.

Are you realizing this freedom? What are you doing to manifest this Freedom
in your life? Does your current business model support your idea of Freedom?

If freedom means something different to you, ask yourself the same questions.

We have so many opportunities to realize the freedoms that we desire.
Empowerment is a choice. You make the choice to realize maximum empowerment
or to continue your dis-empowering habits and as a result remain in the same place.

As you celebrate Independence day, set intentions on how you are going
to step up to realizing the Freedom you desire in your life today! Begin
living life on your terms by your design.

Happy Independence Day!

What is that one thing?

List Building or building your community.

If you're going to realize any level of success and online business
empowerment you must be actively building your community (list).

One of the most important things in an online business or offline business
is a list of contacts. Just as in any other business, online businesses
also need to build relationships with their customers. Subscribers are
the contacts on your lists that are the most valuable asset of your
online business. Therefore, list building leads to building
relationships, which in turn encourages prospects to visit your
website, sign up and get closer to buying your offer. But people are
not just going to flock to a website and leave their contact
information! To attract them, they must perceive some value. The first
thing they are going to think about is how they will benefit from
giving you their contact details. That’s why every business that does
online marketing must build its own lists, targeted at specific
prospects. It is time consuming. You have to work really hard. But in
the end, you will directly enjoy the fruits of your efforts.

Youropt in list is your treasure. You are always looking for new and
innovative ways to build your lists to keep visitors coming to their
sites continuously. As you participate in this activity you offer
various things to the prospective customer like free reports, ebooks,
software, memberships, services etc. just to get their email address
and other identifiable information. It is essential to keep following
up with people who might be interested in what you are offering. Only
when you have a growing list can you facilitate your users to visit
your site. It grabs their attention and takes them to those areas of
the site that are of particular value to them.

Not everyvisitor buys from the site he or she is visiting. Sure you may have
built a huge database of contacts, but unless each one is a qualified
contact, there is no guarantee that they will take any purchase-related
action when they visit. Even in the offline world, you usually cannot
get a buying decision out of your prospect right away – it takes not
less than 5 visits unless they are desperately in need. Again, if you
deal with more than one product, different visitors may be interested
in different products. That is why you have to get your visitor’s email
address and name as they browse through your site.

There are certain things you need in order to effectively begin building your list.

Let us talk about the basic things you need before you actually experiment with different methods of building lists .

A Website

The first thing you must set up is your website, so that your contacts
have a place to come to and find you. They also need a place where they
can securely leave their email and name. You must ensure that they do
not have any difficulty in the process. Not only that, you want to give
them something of value to remember. I'll be sharing an easy way for
you to start your first website in my Online Business Empowerment Quick Start Teleseries.

Autoresponder

The next thing is your autoresponder. These are a wonderful way to
automate your follow up, when you have to keep in touch with your
customers regularly. You might find it easy to keep in touch with, say
100 or 200 people, but when the list runs to thousands, just imagine
the amount of time you’ll spend, time that you can devote to more
creative activities. Instead, a good Autoresponder can help you
tremendously in keeping up with your reminding and emailing.
*Aweber which can be found here is a good choice for many reasons.

You'll need ways to draw traffic to your site.
You can't expect to build your list unless you bring traffic to your site.

Andyou'll need relevent content. Your users will look for information that
is useful and relevant to them. The quickest way to cause your
subscribers to unsubscribe is if you don’t send them messages that are
meaningful.

Don't get caught up with building your list just for size. You're looking to build
a quality responsive list or community.

I've shared a little bit of information in this post, however, if you'd
rather not try to do it yourself and want to receive support I have a
special offer for you.

YourNight is a free social interactive site where you can connect with your friends and family. Similar to Facebook, with better functionality. You can expand the Whiteboard so it is easier to read and reply.

-With your YourNight profile, you can create up to five separate profiles, one for your friends, family, professional associates, a blogging profile, and a dating profile if you chose to do so.

-YourNight is message specific, which means, the unique thing with YourNight is when you create your "What are you doing now?" message, you can send it to only one or all of your 5 five profiles people. This means you can have your message viewed by only your friends, and your family and professional profile people will not see it, which means, better privacy. With Facebook, everyone sees what you write.

-YourNight comes with customizable widgets. With YourNight, you have a page where you can have access to your favorite sites, such as Gmail, AOL, Yahoo, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, CNN, People, Amazon, Ebay, Target, Bank of America, Wachovia, to name a few.

-YourNight is creating a shopping network where you can purchase products at major retailers at up to 20% off. Major retailers such as Best Buy, Target, Overstock.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, Walmart, and other major retailers, are partnering with YourNight.

-YourNight is a referral social site. You need to be invited by or know someone who is a member of YourNight to create your free profile. This is important, because YourNight.com is sharing in the revenues it receives with its members. YourNight needs to track who you refer, because you can receive additional income, if you chose, based on their buying habits from the shopping site and the Gold Member referral program. You can receive 1% cash back of the total purchase amount of all the people that you refer, when they purchase items through the YourNight website. Cash Back rewards can be increased to up to 2.5% if certain requirements are made.

-With YourNight, you have the option to upgrade to a Gold Member for $10.00 per month, if you chose. (6.80) If you live in the UK. You can always remain as a free member of YourNight and enjoy the entertainment value of being able to socialize with friends and family, if that is your desire. There are many additional cash reward benefits for Gold Members, one of which is, you can receive $2.00 per month of all the people that you refer, with a minimum of five people who upgrade to Gold Member status. Hence, your $10.00 per month membership is paid for by your cash rewards from the $2.00 each you receive for the referrals of the five Gold Members.

-YourNight is also a charitable organization. $0.50 a month from every Gold Membership is transferred to YourNight.org, a not-for-profit sister company to YourNight. The donations are planned to be distributed within the area that they are collected from.

Those are just a few of the major benefits of creating a free profile with YourNight.com. YourNight's goal is to become the major social website on the internet. Facebook currently has over 400 million members. If YourNight surpasses that, just imagine the friends you could make, the professional connections you could make, the additional income you could make, and the monetary contributions you could create for the world!
