Your imagination is your preview of life’s coming attractions. ~Albert EinsteinI immediately fell in love with this quote because it reaffirms what has been instilled in me since childhood—you are what you think. As a child we have all had dreams of what we wanted to be when we grew up. However, somewhere a long the way many lose that zeal and drive we once had to pursue those dreams and turn them into reality. Why?As we grew older, we allowed outside influences (i.e. family members, circumstances, etc.) to persuade us into believing that perhaps our dreams were not meant to be achieved. This could not be further from the truth! You have the power to change the channel if you are not enjoying the current attraction. However, too many fail to do so because we allow our previews to be dominated with the following emotions:FearFear is a distasteful emotion that destroys dreams. A single fear can easily control us as well as create a domino effect of frustration, stress, worry and discouragement—all of which will keep us from seeking and fulfilling our dream. On the flip side, some fear success because they are afraid of not being able to retain what they have gained.In order to prevent apprehension from stealing your dream, you must admit to your fears. There is no shame in admitting you are afraid. To conquer fear we must acknowledge its presence, identify the cause and begin the process of defeating fear before it mutates into frustration.FrustrationFrustration keeps us from performing to the best of our ability. Dreams that were once a foundation in your life will fall by the wayside if frustration is left unchecked. Frustration will interfere with as well as destroy our dreams. It can fill our minds with stress as well as limit our ability to calm down and take the necessary risk needed in order to move forward in life; thereby causing us to experience stress.StressStress causes us to lose focus of the big picture—our dream. Stress divides your mind whereby your decisions are not logical and profitable. Before long you will be unable to see the point in pursuing your dream because you have allowed yourself to wallow in your negative thinking. You only hurt yourself when you overlook the power of stress.WorryWe should not automatically panic when we encounter an obstacle. Always remember that there is no such thing as instant gratification. This will help you to remain patient and concentrate. We can conqueror our negative emotions by not allowing frustration and stress to mutate into something bigger. It is understandable that we tend to become afraid or concerned when we experience a major setback or make a big mistake. However, we must not allow these obstacles to cause us to worry whereby we lose our focus and determination to achieve success. Worrying will destroy our self esteem and keep us tied down whereby we allow our preview in life to be dominated with negative thoughts and ideas.DiscouragementDiscouragement is a destructive emotion that encompasses all of the above negative emotions to the extent that it destroys your courage and zeal to fulfill your dream. Discouragement stems from disappointment, which is bound to affect everyone at some point and time throughout life. Although disappointments are inevitable, you do not have to make the choice of allowing your disappointments to discourage you from achieving your dreams.Allowing your previews in life to be dominated with a negative emotion like discouragement can destroy our chief goal in life by making our thoughts void of the knowledge and wisdom needed to fulfill our dream. We become trapped in the quest of trying to decide what the best direction is to take and fail to make any decision at all. Therefore, causing us not to wholeheartedly make an honest assessment of our situation whereby we would be able to make the correct decision.Have you become so engulfed in completing your responsibilities (i.e. working, taking care of family, etc.) that you are often left wondering, “Where did the time go?” “Why haven’t I been able to [insert dream not achieved]? No one desires to live a life full of would’ve, should’ve or could’ve and yet so many people find themselves in this predicament. If you do not take time out to think about what it is that you want, you will without a doubt feel like you missed out on life.Regardless, of how busy you are it is imperative that you take time out to decide which “film” you want to play next. You have to make sure your previews will not hinder you from enjoying one of the most sought after films many should and need to add to their collection—success.

To my sisters in the Lord...There comes a time in every woman's life when she has to take a close look at herself. Not at her circumstance, not at what she did, not how unfair life is, or at who made you do it. She has to just look at herself in all her glory and imperfection. Have you ever admired a woman who has been through changes in her life? Or have you made up in your mind that she is just messed up. Before you make this mistake, take a closer look. A woman who has endured the most unusual life is someone of wisdom, someone who has been chosen by God to go through things that have made her stronger. Think of all the great women in the Bible: Mary Magdalene, Ruth and Naomi, the woman with an issue of blood, and Esther, to name a few. Mary was a very uneasy woman. But by the time Jesus was done with her, she was His closest follower. Esther was unfortunate in marrying an abusive man, but by the time God was done with her, she had married one of the wealthiest men in the land. Women are so quick to beat the next one down instead of trying to hold her up.. Before you wonder, ' What's up with her?' ask yourself, 'What's up with me?' That woman could be my mother, sister, aunt, in-law, stepmother, niece, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, friend, or co-worker, etc. That woman could be ME. Women are the carriers of life, not the channels of death. Let's build and encourage each other, as did Ruth and Naomi . Pass this to all the women in your life. Encourage and love, forgive and forget, and trust that the woman that receives this will be touched in some way.

Setting Healthy Goals

The first step to achieving results is setting a realistic goal. No matter what the reason, successful and healthy weight management depends on sensible goals and expectations. If you set sensible goals for yourself, chances are you'll be more likely to meet them and have a better chance of managing your weight long term.

Setting healthy goals at the start of an ongoing program can help you change and improve your physical activity and eating habits. To set goals that are right for you, think about what you want to change and why, and what steps you can take to reach your goal. These changes don’t have to be big. Even small steps can make a difference. Also, think about who can help you, and how you’ll reward yourself for making these changes.

5 Steps to Setting Goals

Make a choice - Look at your body, your quality of life. What do you really want to have?
Be specific - Leave no detail left behind.
Find Your Reason – Now that you know what you want to change, ask yourself WHY?
Form your plan – What is it going to take to get there? What are you going to have to do?
Take action - Do you know what the number one cause of failure is in most people’s lives? Never taking action. We develop these comfort zones and become afraid to step out of those boundaries and really go after our goals. We know that we must change; we know that we have to follow our plan to be happy, but seldom do. Do not let your written plan of action go to waste. Start immediately on working towards your goals!

Here is another question I get asked a lot, is it hard to purchase a short sale home. Well my answer to that is what do you consider hard? In Orlando Florida the vast majority of homes on the market now are short sales. Here are a few tips I give potential home-buyers before they decided to purchase a short sale not necessarily in this order.•1. A home may not really be a short sale ( lender approval is needed)•2. Just because they are advertising a certain price, it may not sell for that price.•3. Be aware of homes priced to low, remember if it seems to good to be true it is•4. Be prepared to submit an offer higher than the lowball short sale offer; I educate my customer to submit an offer that is close to the market value.•5. An educated Realtor, there are multiple things that need to be done (check and see if their are multiple liens, how much is actually owed on the house, make sure the listing agent has everything need so it does not delay the closing. etc).•6. I LIVE SO I CAN LAUGH THIS IS AN EXCERPT FROM MY BOOK. IT IS ABOUT THE BIRTH OF MY 1ST BORN SON. July 5th 1987. It was hot and sticky and I was sooo restless it was crazy. My swollen belly seemed as if it was ready to pop. Anything that touched my stomach hurt like hell. I got up early and began cleaning everything in site. My Grandmother came into my room and told me "you're just about ready to have that baby". I asked her how she knew and she said "because you're cleaning everything". There's something maternal in every mom-to-be that causes them to clean their surroundings in preparation for birth. Animals also start cleaning their nests and dens preparing for the birth of their offspring. When I thought about it, it did make sense. Although everything around me was clean , I was still trying to make sure my baby came home to nothing but cleanliness. I would have blown away a dust bunny with a shotgun if I saw one under his crib. Everything in my room was sacred to me. I often had friends who would visit and immediately pick up his little teddy bears and other baby things. If they knew the rage I felt when they did that, they would have dropped everything and ran the hell out of my room. I was always thoughtful of other people's belongings and made sure I didn't invade their space. I was never one to overstay my welcome either. Howcome they couldn't do the same? As the evening arrived, I noticed that I started having contractions. I didn't think much of them because I had started actually feeling them in my 6th month. They were false contractions. I guess my body was practicing for the real thing. I was early as well. I had at least an entire month more to go. Late that night I tossed and turned. I talked to my son. I sang the ABC's, sang the 123's and other nursery rhymes. I talked to my baby boy and told him that we were going to be ok. I promised him that I wouldn't allow anyone to hurt him. If I could have rolled out an ancient scroll and signed it with my blood I would have done so. I knew I was going to give birth to someone that would change the world. Society was already against my baby. He had 3 strikes already before he was even born. He was male, he was black and he was going to be smart as hell if I had anything to do with it. I knew how I would raise him and I knew all the values I would instill in him. I would teach him about the world and all the bullshitters in it and despite what society would say about him , I was going to make sure he wouldn't end up a statistic. The Heavens began to move. It was time. I got up early in the morning, around 5am. My contractions were coming harder and faster. My back was killing me. I had already heard about all the horrors of childbirth so I was trying to prepare myself. I took a cab by myself to the Hospital, they checked me and saw that I was in active labor. I was afraid because I thought it was too early. Please God protect my little man. My cousin showed up. I was glad because I didn't want to go through childbirth alone. I think that is the saddest thing for a mother-to-be to go thru. Giving birth with no one there to help you. I had labor pains in my back. That is the worst kind of labor pain you can have. It felt like someone stuck a knife in my lower back on the left side and continuosly twisted it. That's the only way I could decribe it. I went through 12 hours of labor and decided near the end to get an epidural. When the anesthesiologist showed up with that big ass needle I immediately changed my mind. That needle looked like something out of a horror movie. There was no way I was going to be stuck with that shit. I just started breathing and trying to get through the labor. My Doctor came back in and after a quick exam, said I was 10 cm's. I was happy as hell. Then I was scared shitless. Wait a minute, I gotta push a baby out! Holy shit! I gotta push a baby out! Why hadn't I thought about how he was going to get out? Oh no! I don't think I could do this! It was time to push. How do I push? Push what? After a quick how-to session, I began to push. My heart felt as if it was going to burst out of my chest! I pushed and pushed and pushed and pushed! Finally his head began to crown! That's what the Doctor was saying. My cousin was saying that she could see his hair. I didn't give a shit at that moment, I wanted him out of me! I pushed real hard again and he was half way out. OH MY GOD! Is that MY son? My eyes began to well up with tears. I couldn't believe it! I started crying as the rest of him was birthed. He was so red, like an indian. He had a head full of hair and had my juicy lips. My heart swelled with an unbelieveable amount of love that couldn't be measured in a billion years. Amazingly, there was a knot in his umbilical cord. He was bouncing around in there like crazy. I watched the nurses and Doctors like a hawk. They weighed and measured him and cleaned him up. The nurse asked me if I wanted "rooming in" or if I wanted him to stay in the nursery. I looked at her like she was crazy as hell and answered "rooming in". There was no way I was letting him out of my sight! As I was cleaned up and prepared to go to my designated room the Nurses told me that they were going to take him to the nursery to put him under a light and to perform all the necessary tests for a newborn. I think they saw the look on my face so they elaborated a lil bit more on what they were actually going to do to him. They had to reassure the hell out of me because I wasn't having no bullshit. What surprised me was how protective I had already become. It was scary. I was thinking all kinds of crazy thoughts. I thought about someone trying to kidnap him, I thought about some Nurse playing herself and trying to sell him on the black market and thought of some woman who's child wasn't that cute trying to switch my baby with hers. What ever negativity there could be, I thought of it. As soon as the Nurse brought him back I checked every inch of his tiny body. I looked for his birthmark as well as memorized every hair on his head. I couldn't sleep at all because I was up watching and waiting for someone to come in my room and try something stupid. I was so tired but my fear wouldn't allow me to sleep. I was like a zombie in that bed. I was ready for anything. I kept my eyes on him all night long. I kept kissing the hell out of his face and lips and arms and legs and smelling his breath and hair and just kept checking his fingers and toes and knees and ankles. I couldn't believe he was mine. When I thought of how his fucking Father wanted me to abort him, my rage grew to an all new dangerous level. From that moment on I knew without a doubt that I would kill the first person who tried to hurt my lil man. That fear scared the hell out of me. All of a sudden I started to think about all the craziness in the world and really started to worry. For one brief millisecond I wondered why I even brought him into such a crazy fucked up world. I thought about my past and what had happened to me and was so scared for my baby boy. I knew I had to literally become a superhero of a Mom in order to protect him. I begged God to protect him . I begged like nobody's business. Lord please don't let anyone try and hurt him, I really don't feel like spending the rest of my life in jail. I also knew I had to curb my own temper so I could remain in my lil man's life. Where could I run to If I had to kill someone. I thought of the world and where we could be safe. I was thinking of the future and what it would bring. We were going to travel and go places. I wanted to make sure he never ended up starving or hurt. I already knew what that felt like. I knew I wouldn't allow him around certain family members, so that part was taken care of. I was a Mother bear on the highest alert ever. I was on defcon 4. Red alert. I would have brought down the heavens if something came our way. There would have been a new chapter to the Bible. I left the Hospital with my precious cargo. It seemed as though it was the hottest day of the year. I flagged down a cab and looked at the cab driver with the meanest look on my face letting him know not to try NO SHIT! Most of the cab drivers in NYC were foreign. I had heard about people and kids being kidnapped and taken overseas where their organs were harvested to the highest bidder. We made it home safely and I retreated to my room where I stayed there staring at my lil man. I don't think I slept for a month. I couldn't keep my eyes off of him. How could something so precious turn a person into a stark raving paranoid loving lunatic? That was what I had become. Why hadn't my own Mother felt that way about me? What was wrong with some Mothers? I'll never understand that crazy bullshit. The love I felt for my son was u n b e l i e v a b l e. It grew by the second. I couldn't wait for him to understand what love actually was. God I love my lil man. Fuck his Father.

Las Vegas

I just had a wonderful and relaxing 7 days in Las Vegas, Nevada. My family and I take a vacation once year. This gives us time to bond and enjoy each other. Most people think Vegas is not a destination for family. Not true. There is so much to do there at every age. New York, New York Hotel has its own little Coney Island which has a roller coaster, video games and other interactive games for the kids to enjoy. And eating the pizza at this hotel is like being in New York. Awesome! Circus Circus is a favorite for the little ones as well. This hotel provides entertainment like circus acts that you would see when Ringling comes to your city, at no charge. And with the economy being in the shape it is in, there are plenty of free attractions on the strip, the water show at the Bellagio, Pirate Fight at Treasure Island, Tiger Exhibit at MGM, and so much more. And you cannot go to Vegas without experiencing an all-you-can-eat buffet. OMG! Bring your stretch pants with the elastic in the waiste. Las Vegas has so much to offer.My next major vaction will be a 7 day cruise in April. Hope you can make!
